What third party RAM is as good as the "1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 4x8GB" upgrade that Apple offers for the NEW, 27" 2014 5K iMAC Retina?
And is it advisable to buy instead of the Apple upgraded RAM? (my understanding is that third party RAM is not as costly).

your options with the 5K when you buy it are
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x8GB [Add $200.00]

you might want to go with the 16GB option when you buy if you know you might want to go to 32GB some day as that will get you to 32zb at the lowest cost. or you can start with the 8 and add 8GB sticks as you need them but if you are not happy stopping at 20GB you will end up with a pair of 4GB sticks to try to sell on ebay... or if you are lazy like me you get a couple of extra xmas tree ornaments.. i have 35 years of ram methods on my tree now dating back to the extra ram for my Apple ][ extra 8k and not a few obsolete processor ornaments too... dress em up with glitter so they sparkle

What Third Party Software to Modify Time Machine Backup Schedule?

I was hoping to get some suggestions to what third party tool to use that will allow me to change the timing of backups from the regular hour intervals. As far as I know that cannot be changed in Time Machine and am looking for suggestions of software that will allow me to modify the schedule.

It varies widely, of course, depending on how you use your Mac, but Time Machine usually needs 2-3 times the space of the data it's backing-up to keep several months, or more, of backups.
By the way, if you're mixing other data with your backups, in the same partition, that's going to be a problem sooner or later, but it's easily avoided by partitioning it. See #3 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).

With Aero feature no longer in Windows, what third party apps exist for Powershell Tabs/Transparent

Hello,
I am looking for ways to make the windows PowerShell console support tabs and being transparent. As Microsoft has removed the Aero feature from Windows you can no longer make a window transparent. I know a few applications exist on the market for PowerShell
but would like to know if any are recommended for the features I am looking for?

Everything I have read says that this has been removed. That aside. I am aware that PowerShell is a Console. I would like that Console to be transparent and support tabs so that when I am working I can utilize the ability to see work that shares the same
screen space as my PS console. This is not a required feature by any means, it is just something I would like for when I am working with multiple PS consoles and multiple applications that I may be pulling or outputting data to.
Again I am aware there are several third party applications that will allow me to achieve this but I am skeptical about using them and wanted to see if there was any feedback I could get in regards to using one of them.
I hope this better explains what I am asking. If not its not a huge deal as this does not stop me from doing any of my normal work. I just remember being able to have transparent terminals in Linux but as I do not work with Linux anymore, I am S.O.L.

I have recently download the new pages, but from time to time my computer will revert back to the previous page software what can I do to fix this problem

does anyone have a problem with the new page software? I am currrently running into the same problem with the old pages software re-appearing and any document that I had used with the new update, will not open. The system requires me to attempt to download a new version of page, when the newiest version has aleady been download and has been in operation.
What can I do to fix this problem? I desire to use the new version at all times.

You just have to be particular with which Pages version you are opening the document. use Right click on the document and choose the right version of Pages.

okay from reading posts it seems if I transfer my backed up info from my old comp to the new one and erase my dad's phone's back up i could reset my phone and it would transfer all my old data back onto the phone, be linked to the new computer and i could proceed. I assume that you will have to set up as new since it will not let you restore from the backup. Then after you set it up, you can restore from the iCloud backup. The backup should not disappear be use you are setting this device up as new. Your backup should still be in iCloud.
However, after you activate the iPd and update the software, you will have to erase the device in order to restore from the Cloud backup, that is the only way to get to the iCloud backup.

You must use a Mac running Lion (10.7.5), Mountain Lion or Mavericks to be able to set up the Time Capsule and make any changes to the settings.
A recent version iPhone or iPad could also be used for this task.

Which magnifier tool are you referring to? If you double-tap with 3 fingers it should disable zoom. Then you can go into Setttings>Accessibility>Zoom and turn it off.
