What Thunderbolt ports to use?

I know there is some protocol on what Thunderbolt ports to use on the new Mac Pro. I have 2 external TB drives, 1 TB display, and I feed an AJA T-Tap with another TB cable. The other day I changed some cables around and when I went to start the Mac Pro it just gave me chimes and would not boot. I moved some TB cables and all is fine. What is the proper method?
Thanks.

    UCM:16200, IBR:16250, IPM:16000
You should be able your ports easily if your run the WLS console (server:7001/console), search under Environment - Servers
    What's their purpose?
Each application is a separate J2EE application deployed on an app server, listening on a different port. UCM is the content repository, IBR is a conversion server, IPM is a module designed for imaging

  • What IP Ports are used for continuity?

In my company WLAN the IP Adresses are seperated. With IP/UDP Ports are used to communicate within the continuity functions?
    Thanks

Great, actually, I found this information, and would like to re state my question. Now that I know what ports I should be using (this is described in detail in the hardware manual for the E series), I would like to see some definite information about what I must do in my external device to make use of these signals.
I'm a little confused by some comments in the documentation that some of the facilities of Port C (on the 8255) are only avialable if I use register level commands (as if using the parallel port). If I use the DIG_Prt_Config and set to handshaking (input) on a port, then I assume I set up my external hardware as if Port C was in Mode 1(input), and then follow the timing described in the E Series manual.
    It's just a shame that everything o
n the PC side is well described, but there are no application notes that I can find about building an external device that can use the handshaking signals.
If 'you' (anyone) can confirm what my assumptions, or point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it greatly.
    Thank you.

  • What TCP ports are used by Push notifications

I believe my Firewall is blocking Push Notifications on my iPod touch. So, I wanted to discover what the TCP Ports are that are used by Push so I could open those ports to pass packets (info) to my iPod.

    See:

"If you are still unable to receive notifications and you are using a Wi-Fi connection, verify that the network or firewall is not blocking access to port 5223."

  • What Ports are used by Wake on Lan?

Anybody know what UDP ports are used by ZFD's remote wakeup services?
We need to enable directed broadcasts on our network to get WOL to work
across our routers. However, directed broadcasts are quite popular with
denial-of-service attackers, so we'd like to limit them to certain UDP
    ports.
I believe that different WOL software products use different UDP ports
for their Magic Packets. But I can't find Novell's in any of the
    documentation...
    Thanks!

you could use something like Ethereal to check, but AFAICR it's 1765

  • Is the new imac's thunderbolt ports allows video input?

For the last imac, the tech specs says the mini display port could be used as a input (which output device has to be supporting display port).
In the new imac tech specs.... i couldn't find any thing about video input, only about that the 2 thunderbolt could be use as video output.
So would i be able to use it as a screen?
Also, i wanna connect my ps3 and use the imac as a screen!
    (It's a fantastic full HD screen~)
I have seen sth like this "PS3 and LED Cinema Display Solution (also DVI to Mini DP) - MacRumors Forums"
and it just cost too much that is enough for me to get a new screen!
So if the new imacs have video inputs.... than tht means this thing "Connecting A PlayStation 3 To Your iMac « Being BigMacky " will work!
Well the adapter cost me only 150 bucks~
The problem is..... does the thunderbolt ports could use it as an video input?

So seems like, the popular Kanex XD and Belkin HDMI to Mini Display Port adapters would not work for the current imac generation.
This is what I got from the Kanex company:
    "Question:
So i suppose this does not work on the latest imacs (released a few days ago)?
    Answer:
Our Kanex XD requires modification to work with the new thunberbolt iMac
    27-inch.
We are under development of a newer version. Please look out for an
    announcement soon.
In the mean time the Kanex XD still works for iMac 27 2009-early 2011 and also the LED Cinema Display 27-inch. "
This means there will soon be 3rd party developer creates a new signal converter (which is definitely a good news)
but i won't get the imac until the converter/adapters is released..... i really nedd this feature man!

  • IMac: USB and Thunderbolt ports seems loose

I'm not sure if this is really a question other than wondering if other people experience it.
I have a 14.2 27" iMac.  The thunderbolt port is used to connect to a second display, and the USB ports are primarily used for external drives.
In all cases, I find that even the slightest movement of the USB or Thundebolt cable will result in the device being momentarily physically disconnected.  I have tried to reproduce this on my gaming PC with the USB drives and I can wiggle the cable all I want without the drive disconnecting.
Since all of the USB ports on the iMac do this, and none of the ports on the PC do, I can only assume there is some sort of design flaw or manufacturing defect.
    Any thoughts?
    -Doc

Yep, same here, my relatively new, very expensive, souped up 27 iMac keeps on dropping the drive connected to the Thunderbolt port whenever I unplug something from a neighbouring USB port.
And no, Apple I am not lugging a huge 27 inch iMac back to the store for you to fix something that is your fault, which you don't admit is happening to many iMacs and which you apparently don't know how to fix. And apparently in Australia we don't have site visits for Apple Care....
I am a weak older person who can't lift the thing (and who waited a very long time to be able to afford this machine) - but you see I never expected my iMac and Mavericks to be so darn dodgy - I trusted you Apple.. as I have for the last 30 years of using an Apple.
Mavericks probs were bad enough, but it was a software prob which eventually (hopefully I thought they'll fix) - it does make my heart bleed however to realise that Apple with its billions of cash in the bank can't afford to hire some decent coders to fix multiple probs with Mavericks in a timely fashion....
    But now?????
    - now I realise I actually have a computer with a faulty thunderbolt port....and that Apple does not seem to be acknowledging this fault....Apple had better find a solution that does not give me a hernia....
Thanks for your input folks in this forum.....sorry for sounding so annoyed - that's cos I am:-)
( and yes I am going to put this in feedback somewhere so the robot who reads can bin it more easily)

  • I have a Macbook Pro 13.3 i5 w/ no hdmi port. How can I connect my Mac to TV to watch video, photo ?  Is the Thunderbolt port a mini display port where I can use a mini display port to HDMI cable? If not, what are my options??

I have a Macbook pro 13.3 w/ i5 that has no hdmi port. I want to be able to connect the Mac to my TV set to watch Video, Photos and files from Mac to TV.
Is the Thunderbolt port similar to a display port or mini display port? Can I use thunderbolt port to connect thru a mini displayport to HDMI cable or converter?
Been trying to locate a USB to HDMI cable or converter (at a reasonable price) but all I found is a displayport or mini displayport to HDMI cable/converter.
What other options are available ?

what  cable i can use for Thunderbolt port?

You can use a mini displayport cable as long as it is connected to a mini displayport peripheral.
You can use a thunderbolt cable as long as it is connected to a thunderbolt peripheral.
There are now thunderbolt cables available in the Apple store.

  • I have 2 iMacs, one has a thunderbolt port and the other has a mini display port. Would it be possible to use one as an extension of the other? If so what cable would I need.

    Hi,
As the title of the thread says. I have an older iMac with a mini display port and a newer iMac with a thunderbolt port. Would it be possible so that the older iMac is an extension of my new iMac. The reason for this is because logic x can be a abit clustered on one screen.
    Thanks

If you'll be using the 2010 iMac as the display, a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable.
It's not possible to use the 2011 iMac as the display through Target Display mode in that configuration.

  • How to use thunderbolt port with disks and DVI-display

    Hello,
today I use a 15" MacBookPro and have attached 1TB LaCie with FW800  (for time machine) and DVI-Display using Mini-port.
Need to add more external disk space and look for Lacie 2 TB with thunderbolt connection (for storing mass of pictures in Raid1 version)
Is it possible to connect the new disk, the other disk with an Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter and the DVI-Display to one thunderbolt port?
What are the options I have, to get all three to work at the same time?

No, or at least not without additional hardware. You have too many end-points for one Thunderbolt chain.
You also have the problem that the Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter is not yet for sale.
If the new disk you get has two Thunderbolt ports (which not all do), you could daisy-chain the Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter behind it, but that adapter has to be at the end of the chain. The Mini-port->DVI adapter likewise needs to be at the end of a chain.
So, you can probably get all three connected at one time by connecting the "1TB LaCie with FW800  (for time machine)" to your FW800 port, while connecting the Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter (when available) to the second port of the new disk. I say "probably" because nobody has the TB-FW adapter yet to try it.
As for doing it on one Thunderbolt port with additional hardware, you might look into third-party docking stations being released in the next few months. The announced prices are in the low-to-middle hundreds. I won't mention brand names, as this is an Apple forum, but they aren't too hard to find by web search.
The highest-priced solution would be the Apple Thunderbolt Display, which gives you a FW800 port for your 1TB drive, a pass-thru Thunderbolt port for your new disk, and of course a 2560x1440 display (plus ethernet and usb2 ports you may not need). It's available now, in the uppermost hundreds. There are some refurbs in the online Apple Store at the moment at 15% off.

  • Can Adobe Premiere run on 2013 Mac Book Pro (thunderbolt port) and display on 2010 iMac (Mini DisplayPort) using TDM. TB cable   Opt. F2 didn't work. Will a Mini Display cable work?

I need to work on Adobe Premiere on my 2013 Mac Book Pro (with thunderbolt port) and display it on my 2010 iMac (with Mini DisplayPort) using Target Display Mode (TDM). I tried using a thunderbolt cable plus Option F2, but it didn't work. Will a Mini Display cable work? Any other suggestions?
    iMac specs - 21.5 inch 2010 iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    Mac Book Pro specs - 13 in. retina 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 16GB 1600 Mhz DDR3

2010 iMacs do not have Thunderbolt, they have mini-display ports. You are using the wrong connection, you need a mini display port to mini display port. Please read up on what Apple says in Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
