What to buy a new iPod touch, what about the bought apps?
I am thinking about changing my iPod touch first generation to a new one.
Can I transfer all my apps to the new item or do I have to buy them again?
Who has experience here?
i've just done this. you just need to make sure you backup your old ipod touch first, then when you plug in your new ipod touch, rather than setting it up as new, restore it to the backup. as previously pointed out, as long as everything is in your itunes library on your computer it will just replace it all and your new ipod will look just like the old one.

Who has experience here?Dumped coffee on my 2nd gen Touch. Bought a 3rd gen. Plugged it in. iTunes asked me if I wanted to reload it with everything from my old Touch and it did.
Any Touch you sync to the account can be loaded with the purchased apps as well. I can load my 1st gen with the same apps (as long as they work on the 1st gen).

On my new ipod touch 5g is imovie ,iphoto not installed or free on the appstore while apple says that it is normally installed on the new ipod touches what can I do?
The do not cme preinstaled but can be purchased at no cost if you meet these requirements

Yes. Just make one final sync (it includes a backup) of the old iPod, Then connect the new iPod to that syncing computer and restore the iPOd from that backup. Also see:

What if I buy a new iPod Touch?
Ok, So new ipod touch, I want to sell my current one on a popular online auction site,
This is really 2 questions....
a) What happens to the old ipod with software version 2, will the new person be able to use the software update or will they have to purchase it themselves, obviously I will restore the ipod to factory settings to clear my settings, music and apps?
b) What about the apps I have purchased from the App Store, will I simply go to sync my new ipod and it will all sync over...easy as pie?

As you bought the firmware, when you handle the iPod to other person, he will be able to use the version 2.0. But if sometime, he needs to restore, then this will remove the firmware 2.0. Also, that person won't be able to instal it again, 'cause he's not using your iTunes account and doesn't have the path file stored on your computer. So basically, he should need to buy it for himself!

Yes, no problem! It will sync normally to your new iPod Touch, as it has with your current one.

Should I hold off on buying a new iPod Touch right now?
My 4+ year old first generation iPod Touch completely died about a month and a half ago. I am planning on buying a new one but I need some advice. Should I buy one now or is it worth it to wait another month until the new iPod Touch 5th gen comes out?
I don't particularly care about buying the 5th gen, I just am curious if you guys think there will be a big price cut in the 4th gen next month when the newer model comes out. If i buy a new ipod touch now, can i exchange it for the new version?
I am gonna get a new ipod touch 8GB as part of the education deal when buying an imac before the 7th sept. I am wondering if i can exchange it for one of the new ones when they are announced and in stores a week or two later? If i bought a macbook pro in store or online i know i can exchange it within 30 days (by paying a price difference to the new model) or get a discount (if the prices for the old model went down within 30 days of me purchasing).

The promotion is actually a rebate (unless you're referring to a promotion other than in the US); you choose your qualifying iPod model and purchase it, and will then get a rebate back of up to $199 (it varies depending on the model of iPod you choose).

I can't update my ipod touch software because when i check for updates using itunes it says the software is up to date. Does this mean i have to get a newer ipod touch or is there a way to manually update the software to the newer versions?
You probably have a 1G iPod. See here:

The 1G can go as far as 3.1.3. You can purchase that update here. You may have to use another browser to get the sublink to work correctly.

I somewhat recently got a new ipod touch after my screen cracked and the people at an Apple store said it would be cheaper to buy a new device completely. I followed everything they said about backing up my old device and when I went to pick up the new one, the store took the old one away.
Up until just a few days ago I did not realize Iphoto could hold pictures from your ipods. Mine never did it automatically, nor did anything ever seem to have the option to do. It just so happened that two days ago I was browsing the web when I noticed a website gave instructions on how to transfer photos. So I tried it and it worked for my new ipod while all the new photos.
But I was wondering if I could somehow get the old photos back from Itunes or my computer somewhere and transfer them into Iphoto or my new device. I was hoping that maybe if I could "back up" my old stuff onto my new ipod for a few moments it would show I have the old photos and I could transfer them into Iphoto and then restore the ipod touch back to what I have it currently.
If it helps, I'm pretty sure the old ipod touch I had was a 3gen as my new one I noticed was skinnier. As I said, I do not have the old touch anymore but I have the data in Devices on my Itunes if that makes a difference. Both my data for my old one and new one are in the Devices section of Itunes.

My new iPod Touch 4 wont open downloaded apps which has worked before.
I just bought new ipod touch 4 it worked fine for few days but recently the apps that i downloaded won't open. (Facebook, Instagram) other factory preinstalled apps, music etc works fine.
I have tried to reset it, close all running application but still it doesen't work. It has been working yesterday.

If I go to a retail store and buy a new touch tonight will it have the new apps or will I get them for free via download or do I have to wait until a fresh supply comes in with the apps pre-installed from the factory.
I don't want to get your hopes up, but Apple know which ipods have been activated, and which haven't so, maybe they will automatically include the updates with activations.
Otherwise... the free voucher/code thing will probably be the case.. Unless you wait until the new updated models reach the shop! -
i have bought 4 new songs on my ipod touch from the itunes app, then i tried to sync my iod to my laptop after updating itunes to the latest version. My ipod will now no longer sync, what should i do?
- Try moving the backup file to a safe location so iTunes has to create an entire new one.. It is locate here and you may have to have show hiddn files turned on.
