What to change in bios with MSI 875p

I'm wondering what the key things are to change in bios for non-overclocking best performance/stability. I've been having a lot of problems booting up:
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/index.php?threadid=27875&boardid=10&sid=0e546e863ff4279dc7316e7d3ef8c314
In fact I can't even start the computer. I've ordered a new graphics card (i've swapped out everything but that)and I want to set the bios right on first boot since I might not be able to get back to them. In particular, what are good settings for my ram (i.e. voltage, etc.)

Hi Amit,
I still ask you which product of NW ? (like PI,EP,BI)
For PI there are seperate set of steps you need to carry for  changes in client.
Any other product i think that should be ok. Please refer installation guide and specific post installation sections.
For the other query...please refer below link.

  • Probems with msi 875p neo Fis2r and network controller driver

Hi guys just wondering if anyone could help me with my msi 875p neo FIS2R and problems with the network controller driver/network card.
I'm running xp on a computer my nextdoor neighbour gave me. I got it working fine  with service pack 3 installed but then installed a bunch of windows updates last night and the computer would switch itself off before windows could start. Now I reinstalled xp and unfortunately it does not recognise the network controller/card at all now. I tried installing the intel network controller drivers but it stopped because it said no intel adapter/card was installed/present. Could anyone please help with suggestions? I tried running everest and under newtwork it doesnt list intel network adapters but I'm pretty certain it is. Again any suggestions?

Clear CMOS with your PSU unplugged from A/C power.  Then load "Optimized Defaults" in BIOS and retest.

will try that and post later if it worked... ive never cleared cmos, this sort of thing is relatively new to me but thanks again

  • How to disable AGP Fast Write with MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R ??

How can I disable AGP Fast Write with the MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R ? I can't find an option for this in the BIOS !

You wont usually find this option in most MB BIOSES , as the only Option that SOME BIOSES Have is the Option to enable, disable SBA (Side Band Addressing) for the AGP Bus....In order for you to Disable or Enable the FW, You Must have the Option in your Vidio Drivers Controll Panel.....If you have a NVIDIA Card, you Must go to  http://www.guru3d.com  And Download the program "NVHardpage" and then Open the Program and you wil have the Choice to Enable these options and they will then appear in your Vidio driver CP >> "Activate "Coolbitts" (this is NVIDIAS Overclocking Utility) Activate "Harware Options", and then Activate "AGP Options" and finally Activate "Performance Options"........If you have a ATI Card then you must Download one of thier "Tweeking Utilities".......I will Post the Direct "Link" for NVHardpage in a Minute, just say yes to the Lic. Agree. and download......Here>> http://download.guru3d.com/nvhardpage/  ...........Sean REILLY875

  • What was changed in Bios 1.50 for Satellite M70 (PSM71)

    Hi!
If possible, I need some info about new bios 1.50 for Satellite M70 (PSM71).
    What's the "change log"?
    Thank you very much!
    Ciao!

    Hi
Toshiba does not provide any official informations about BIOS updates on the European notebooks.
I found some info on the Toshiba US site but nothing about BIOS designed for the European laptops.

  • What memory is 100% compatible with MSI P67A-G45?

I have some g.skill memory and there are issues using it with my MSI P67A-G45 as I cant adjust dram voltage. I know some of you have this board so what memory is working perfect and allows dram voltage and all others settings to be fully adjusted?

    Quote
and do you really think 512mb and 1gb modules were tested on this P67 board?
Just posted a link to the modules list, nothing more. Made no recommendations & made no other assumptions. Selections & decisions are yours & yours alone.
Here is a suggestion however. Never a blanket guarantee, but I have yet to have the Corsair GT series fail to properly default or not work on any board I have tested. Whatever you purchase, make sure it properly defaults to the platforms IMC specs for DDR3 1333, 9 9 9 xx @ 1.50v's + or - 0.075v's. Plain stick, fancy heatspreaders doesn't matter. Compatible SPD profile programming does matter.

  • Problem with S-ATA optical drive(MSI 875P Neo)

    Ahoy MSIers,
I am in a most dire situation, and before I go to spend money on some computer-tech guy to solve my problem, I thought maybe you could help me.
    *My PC specs:
    Intel Pentium 4 Northwood C 2800Mhz
    MSI 875P Neo
    A-DATA 512Mb RAM DDR 400 * 2(1024)
    PowerColor Radeon 9800Pro
Western Digital Hard Drive 80Gb 8Mb buffer P-ATA
Pioneer DVR-212D S-ATA (The main issue here)
    Bios - AMIBIOS - VERSION 3.31a
    Windows XP Pro - SP2
Until 2 days ago I owned an MSI CD(P-ATA) burner which was virtually dead.
2 days ago, It died completely, So I decided that I will not just replace a CD burner for a CD burner... no! I will buy myself a new shiny DVD burner!
So I bought myself a Pioneer DVR-212D(S-ATA) and I went on with installing it.
I plugged the Serial Power Cable from the PSU to the drive, and connected the drive and the S-ATA port on my M-Board with a serial-ata cable.
I booted up, and found that the device was nowhere to be found although power is being transferred to it(the drive opens and closes when pressing it's eject button).
I searched the net and found that I was supposed to "enable" S-ATA in my BIOS.
Tried that, yet every setting I tried besides the default setting gives makes the computer freeze for a few minutes at the MSI logo and then a "friendly" error massage appears, usually it's something like
"4th master drive ATAPI incompatible" ( the number changes, I haven't got a clue why).
Searched the net a bit more and found almost nothing... most s-ata "problems" were about booting from a s-ata hard drive....
I am getting desperate, So in order to maximize the chances of me getting help solving this issue, I took a few pictures of the BIOS and the inside of my case... maybe it will help, I dunno.
    Here are some pics:
The S-ATA cable connected to the Mother-Board
Back of the DVD burner with the S-ATA cable attached
    BIOS - standard CMOS features
    BIOS - Integrated Peripherals
    On-Chip IDE configuration
    P.S
I have a DVD ROM(Toshiba, nothing special) and I would of course occasionally like to burn Dvds/Cd's from my DVD ROM to my DVD burner. However, seeing as the DVD burner is S-ATA, there is no physical connection what so ever between the two drives(unlike in P-ATA connection where each cable has 3 "connections", 2 for drives(hard or optical) and one for the Motherboard) I really don't know how I can "achieve" this.

A friend of my father's, whose occupation is a computer technician toke a look at the PC and bios settings today.
WE tried EVERYTHING and It still wouldn't work so we concluded that the problem is probably in the hardware.
There were two possible "suspects" here - The Mother Board(specificially the S-ATA controller/ports on it) or the drive itself.
We connected the drive to my sister's computer and it worked like a charm.
So the answer was clear - something was wrong with the board.
I replaced my S-ATA drive for an IDE drive, and all is well.
    Well
that's the end of that story

  • Overclocking an MSI 875P Neo-LSR Bios 2.2

HDD : 120 Gb Maxtor 8Mb cache + 40 Gb Western Digital 2 Mb cache
    CPU Fan : Zalman CNPS-7000AlCu
Yesterday i tried to use CoreCenter and went to 215MHz (3.6 Ghz i think) with no hitch.
Now my question is with this configuration what can i reach and what to use (CoreCenter or Bios) ?
And which OC for the memory ??

I think use bios is better because of more flexibility. You can go up to about 3.5GHz.

    Help: FSB Setting for MSI 875P with Intel 3.06 533Mhz & Corsair 512 2799 333Mhz
    Need a little help here, Intel's specs for the P4 3.06GHz 533 is a multiplier of 23 x 133Mhz.
However 133Mhz as a FSB seems very slow.
The 875P NEO has two BIOS settings: CPU Ratio and Adjust CPU Bus
What are your settings for these - I am quite confused?
    Thanks!
    G.

133 is the stock FSB setting. set your memory to DDR333.
Do you want to overclock? you might want to set your memory to DDR266 which is 1:1. so u can adjust a bit of FSB from 133 to maybe 150.
PS dont forget your memory timing. 2-6-3-3 would be oki i think. what bios version r u using?

Currently I am experiencing random lockups in Windows and within 1-2 min in 3D games complete lockup. I've tried setting colours to 16bit depth, using older Cat drivers, removing all hardware except videocard, disabling fast writes, forcing AGP 4x mode and changing powersupplies. Still no go. Only thing I have done was flashing the original bios with the beta bios. System is abeit more stable than with original bios.

    Ok heres the thread http://www.msi.com.tw/program/service/forum/index.php?threadid=29842&sid=
and heres the fix if you cant find the patch.
The server to download that patch isnt responding.
Its only a registry value to change, here is how you do it:
Open regedit ("Start button/Run" type regedit hit OK)
Open the registry tree left pane to (doubleclick on the folders or the "+"):
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlS etControlCreative TechEmu10kxDriverSettingsWavePin#00000002
Now in the right pane there is a value named "Turbo". Doubleclick on that and change the data field in the dialog that opens to 0 (zero) and hit OK.
    Thats it.

  • BUG with Memory CAS-Latency with MSI i848P Neo-LS BIOS

I have a bug with MSI i848P Neo-LS BIOS. I try many MSI i848P with same trouble : the CAS Latency is always set to 2.0 even if the memory is CAS Latency 2.5.
It doesn't depend on PSU or others things (graphics card,...).
    Try with Pentium 4C 2.6 or 2.8
But I have just one brand of memory (but many different sticks). Chips reference are VT56DD32M8PC-5 (256 or 512 Mb). This memory are reference as Cas Latency 2.5
If I set memory timings on SPD or manual : same result !!!
If I set memory speed on AUTO or 400 MHz : same result  !!!
If I set other timings, then they are save correctly (ie : RAS# precharge set to 3 or 4).
    I check timings with latest version of Memtest86+ V1.0 : http://www.memtest.org/
and of course, I get many errors.
The same memory tested on others mobo, give good results.
I try Windows XP installation and I get....  blue screens.
With some memory sticks : I have this message "memory timing too tighly",
if I press F1 to continue: then I get a memory cas latency of 2.5 with memtest86+ and then no error.
I try BIOS revision 1.0 (default) and 1.2: same result !!!
So, as I said before, I think this is a bug with the BIOS. I agree that a BIOS cannot detect correctly all kind of memory, but if you set memory timings manualy, then it must be set as you want ! ?
    Any idea...
    Thanks

    H0 Alex,
You are correct.I have the same problem with my 875p neo lsr on bios 1.9. TH0S 0S B0OS BUG.but everyone says your psu is not enough or your rams isnt  on the MSI Memory Compatability List.
why all of rams I try give same result?
MS0 boards works only with 10 or 20 ram.you don't say customer why you use this rams?
why in asus boards many os these rams working properly. This rams isnt on the MSI Memory Compatability List.but working.I try many no name rams and results are very good in all of the tests.
In my opinion MS0 bioses doesnt work good enough.

Hey Pete, perhaps you can help me. I have tried several times to install RedHat 9 on my system. Every time it hangs up after a line which indicates it is searching for IDE0. I have only a SATA harddrive and was guessing linux was on an endless search for a IDE harddrive.
I see you have both SATA and PATA drives in your system. Did you install Linux on the PATA drive? If so, was that out of necessity, did you try to install on a SATA drive?

  • MSI 875P Neo and Bios Version 1.6

I have an MSI 875P LSR Board.  It works fine but the system temperature is always running at 50-60 degrees C.
I am running bios version 1.2 and I was wondering if it is worth while to upgrade to version 1.6 as my system is stable.  I dont feel really comfortable flashing the bios I am running Windows XP with NTFS partition.

Maesus-how much lower do you feel the "real" temperature is? Would perhaps 10C be a fair estimate? I'm still waiting for my friend to dig out his thermal probe so that I can get an accurate reading. I too am still using bios 1.2(rock stable with excellent game play)but am considering a bios upgrade if I purchase faster memory which I'm not sure that version 1.2 would make full use of.
