What to do about Apple Mobile Device failed to start problem??
I had iTunes on my computer but when I went to update to the new version of iTunes it kept popping up that my Mobile Device Service failed to start. So I uninstalled iTunes and tried reinstalling but now I have a different box that pops up saying "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." So I followed the suggested steps to "stop and restart my Apple Mobile Device Service" but it only gave me the start option so I clicked on start and thats when I got the Error 1053 pop-up box!! I have tried all of these steps over and over again and I keep getting the same error messages!! Shown below is the error msh I keep getting!! What do I need to do??

Try the following user tip:
Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates -
Says Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Seems like it has something to do with MSVCR80.dll, but not sure what to do about it. Now I have no Itunes at all
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

i tried to install the recent itunes update and this kept popping up...what the heck does that mean? please help! Service-apple mobile device failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services
Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7 x64 for windows 7
After uninstalling all apple products even quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version anyways.

I am trying to install itunes but at the status of 'Starting Services' it tells me that 'Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services". I clicked retry and ignore button but same result. What shoud I do?
Has your windows previously installed itunes?
Do uninstall all other apple programs such as
Apple Application Support
Apple Mobile Device Support
Apple Software Update
Bonjour
these programs above doesn't remove together with itunes.
remove these programs and make a reboot for ur windows.
then download the latest itunes and install. -

Hi txatxo
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. You may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service. This article has instructions for doing this:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567
If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would recommend trying a thorough uninstall and reinstall of iTunes as described here:

Trying to re-install iTunes and the message "Apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." But I don't know what to do? Please can someone help, I'm not the most technologically advanced person.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
