What to do after you root A2109

I plan on adding to this post when I have some more info, meanwhile please contribute your ideas.
Rooting and an unlocked bootloader allows you to do a couple of things, customize your tablet and get updates onto your device long after the manufacture stops supporting it. You can also make a backup or all apps and system settings. This is a huge time/butt saver if you are toying around with your tablets os. Please use a backup program like Titanium Backup to save everything before you start deleting/changing stuff.
Remove the Lenovo App store and other non-essential apps from the A2109. You need a file manager on your Tab that can take advantage of root, for example Root Explore but there are others.
Navigate to /system/app on your tablet and make sure you are in read/write mode for that folder. All the add on apps in the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 have file names in the form ROWXXX.apk where X= some number. The icons will also look like the ones in the app drawer.
Here is a list of ones that I have found to be safe to delete. DO NOT remove ROW019.

Once you delete these files reboot your tablet and check out the app drawer. All the apps should be gone and will not be eating up your memory or flash space.
Change the bootup sound:
Using your file manager navigate to /system/media/audio/notifications
Locate the file "bootsound.mp3" rename it to "bootsound_org.mp3
Now copy your own 128kb mp3 file into the directory and name it bootsound.mp3
A sound file of 15 seconds or less should work well.

anika2000: Nice work identifying the various ROW??? apps.
Just wanted to point out that the pre-installed ES File Explorer can also do what Root Explorer does... you just have to enable the root settings. I haven't tried it yet, but it has an option for backing up and uninstalling system apps.

You would have received a prompt telling you that you didn't have sufficient space to beck up your phone if that was the case. Also, not everything on your phone is stored in the backup so you wouldn't need 11.7GB to back it up. You can see the size of your backup by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your phone under Backups and look under Options.
If it says "downloading" it's probably still downloading your pictures from iCoud. Check Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup at the bottom to see the status of the restore process.

A new Hard drive will not be Mac-formatted, so you will have to do that first. A copy of Disk Utility to do the job is also on the 10.6 Installer/Utilities DVD.
Boot to the installer DVD, but do not Install. Answer only the "what language" question, and wait a quarter minute for the menuBar to be drawn. Choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu that appears.
Select the Hardware_name of the new Drive. Partition, one partition, ( Options ), GUID partition table. Name the partition: MacIntosh HD and choose Format: Mac OS X Extended (journaled). It will complete in a minute or two, as it only rewrite the Directory area.
If you wish to shake out your drive, you can erase it and Security Erase, Zero all data, one pass. But this takes HOURS.

none of the other carriers do this anymore… we all understand subsidies (well apparently not)… if you go to any of the other carriers, and you do not buy a phone on contract, your service is less expensive because they don't need to recoup the money they "lost" on the phone. But Verizon continues to charge you regardless…
If you go to ATT, you can get 10gb (yes 10), 2 smartphones off contract, 130/mo. You can even use their version of EDGE and still pay that same amount (plus your device payment)… and guess what, when your done paying for your phone, they don't increase your service charge. If you do the same on VZ, your bill will also be 130, but when you pay off your phone, they jack your bill up to 180….
I think if VZ just came out and said "Look, we are the best, so we charge more. Period." I'd respect that…

what do you do after you have done all of this and still have no resolved the issue? itunes still will not load, or reinstall. i have updated my computers OS to the posted above settings for Vista. still gives error code 1114. NOTE!: My itunes WORKED JUST FINE UNTIL a new update was ready for download yesterday afternoon.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

I took this mac to the Apple store, they reset my os software and I have been having problems eversince. Since this Mac weights about 50 lbs, I don't want to take it in a gain. But - I am 67 years old and don't really understand some lingo - so straight english would really help.

It shows that the files are owned by 'root' & in the group 'admin', while being readable (r) , writeable (w) & executable (x) by user:root, group:admin and everyone else.
Startup items must be owned by root, the group must be wheel, and they must only be writeable by root.
You can't readily make the required changes via Finder, so you'll either need to reinstall the software that added them, remove (trash) them altogether (they start qmaster, used by fcp &/or compressor) or use Terminal & the 'sudo' command to alter the ownership & permissions.
If you choose the latter - run these two commands in Terminal while using an admin account, you'll be asked to enter the admin password, which won't be echoed onscreen. Restart afterwards. It's important that you copy/paste these exactly.
sudo chown -R root:wheel /Library/Startupitems
sudo chmod -R ugo+rwX,go-w /Library/Startupitems
However - your startup problems with the prohibited sign are unlikely to be resolved by this, although it should avoid the warning messages you describe.

I think you are trying to syndicate an XML file from the MDM Syndicator.
You will require an XML schema for this.There are two methods for this:
1) You can upload the schema in the Console.
2) You can take it locally from syndicator.
The root is very important as it identifies a correct schema. If you are not able to see the root, that means the XMl schema you are using is not correct.
If you have a customized repository and hence do not have an XML schema then you can generate one by using the Xomlite software. Here is the link to which explains the process:

After you generate the XML schema using Xomlite, upload it under the Admin node->XML schemas for that repository
Then open syndicator Go to File->New/Destination proeprties
Select type->XML schema
Remote system and select the XML schema that you have uploaded.
By this procedure, you will find the root element and then you can perform the mapping in the syndicator.
