What to do if Iphone gets wet

What should you do if your Iphone gets wet

Assuming you've already panicked....no worries, my 4S fell into water in S. Africa, fully immersed whilst music playing. I did this, & 4 or so hrs later had a Lazarus iPhone, fully functional: note, this worked for me, may not be "approved solution", but I'm using same phone now since Feb '12:
1) power off immediately;
2) Hand dry w/non-lint cloth thoroughly, no blow-dryers, etc.
3) laid iPhone FACE DOWN, unplugged, on clean dry cloth on my car seat, where it was warm but not baking. Was told only do this for an hour or so, but after 2+ hours in a winery, the comatose iPhone 4S sat in car seat, quite warm.
4) waited another 2 hours or so, plugged into power supply.....miraculously (I thought), it powered up, a bit slowly but it did boot up.
5) once I saw power up, I turned power off again, let alone overnight, woke up in morning and powered on: everything intact, no lost info, same as before drowning.
Whether immersion in rice or dry heat, water evaporation Asap seems the thing. And I think not being too anxious to power up too early.
Good luck!

what do u do when ur iphone get wet pls help

You can try putting it a bag of uncooked rice or silica gel pellets for a few days and see if after that time it works properly. If not, then you'll have to pay to have the iPhone replaced.
    Good luck and regards.

  • Iphone get wet

my iphone get wet and i have out it on a sealed plastic with silica gel. after 2 days i have restore it and start working but hte camera light is always on. what should i do??

In US or Canada, I know they have a policy that if you are within your warranty, they will replace you with a refurbished phone but you have to pay $149 for 16GB and $249 for 32GB.
I had mine replaced 4 months after I bought my iphone4 32GB.  Book an appointment to see Genius Bar.

  • What to do if phone gets wet

Any suggestions what to do if my iphone gets wet

If it's on, turn it off
Put it into a bag or bowl of uncooked white rice for a few days. The rice will absorb the moisture from the phone.
    I hope this helps.

  • What exactly breaks when your iPhone gets wet?

My wife dropped her phone in water and it appears to turn on. I reset it the screen is completely white, but when i slide my finger across the bottom I hear it unlock. Does this just call for the screen to be replaced?

Best wishes on getting the phone back to normal. I too dropped my 16GB brand new iPhone into water within a week and a half of buying it. I realized immediately that it would void the warranty and figured I'd need to spend the full price to get a new one.
My phone never turned itself off when I immersed it. I quickly shook it to get all the water I could out of it, then gently blew some compressed air in the openings. I turned the phone off and put it in a ziplock bag of rice overnight. I wrapped the phone in a tissue to ensure rice didn't get in the openings.
The next morning I turned the phone on and nearly everything was working but I kept getting an error that I was trying to use a device that wasn't compatible with the iPhone. I had a hard time getting anything to play in the iPod function. I fiddled with putting the headset in and out hoping the maybe the headphone jack was wet and I could dry it out. The iPod and youtube started working fine with the headset in but when I took it out I could get no sounds out of the phone (like some people report here when their phone acts like their headset is still in). All along my screen was fine and I could make and receive calls. I kept getting the same error message.
I turned it off again and put it back in the drawer with rice. I couldn't sleep I was so upset about having done this. I got up in the early morning and scheduled an appointment online with a Genius for that afternoon. At that point I took my phone out of the drawer and turned it on and everything worked fine!
I kept my appointment with the Genius and asked him if there was anything I should do and if it's likely it would keep working fine. He told me to be prepared for it to fail by ensuring everything was backed up, but that it may be fine. He also mentioned that he had never seen a phone that was in water look like mine...it looks just like it did out of the box. It's been about 3 weeks and everything is working great.
I hope you have the same success! I have never dropped a phone in water before and was horrified when this one flew out of my hand and into the open toilet!
I love my new phone. I'm actually a long time AT&T customer and had a previous 3G phone that didn't have nearly the functions of this one.

  • HT201303 what happens when your iphone gets stolen

    iphone stolen

    In a word: Nothing.
My iPhone 4S was stolen a month ago after I had barely had it for a year. It had everything installed including "find my iPhone" and iCloud, etc.... what Apple does not tell you is that these location services are useless if you are dealing with experienced thieves who know exactly what to do... Despite Apple being technically able to deactivate the phone instantly (provided you can give them a police report number and the phone's serial number) they REFUSE to do so and claim they "have no program" for such an event.
Oh and btw: LAPD classifies the theft of an iPhone as petty theft and as such will not do a thing about it - 'we don't do iPhones" I was told...
All your phone service provider is generally willing to do is interrupt service but not much else. What does it help you to know where the phone is via GPS?

  • What data from my iPhone gets sent to Apple and Developers when I download a "FREE" app, and when I purchase an app?

I would like to know what data is sent to a developer, and to Apple, whenver I download a FREE app from the AppStore, and also what additional data is sent once I decide to purchase the app.
I understand that I have to explicitly allow access to an for certain features (ie Motion or Contact(s) data), but does this also mean that this data is being transmitted to the developer? And when I sign up to an app's subscription service, like FourSquare, am I identified by name or just by my Apple device identifier?
And, finally, does Apple actually restrict/prevent an app from abusing information available or do they just trust the developer to adhere to policy?
    Thanks for your input,
    Rupe

this is hard to answer but what I know is that:
if you download a free / paid app, Apple makes sure that the app is not going to harm your device by checking the codes do not have viruses/malwares.
However, when it comes to your data, it is hard not to be controlled by Apple . That is why you have to read the privacy policy of each app BEFORE downloading into your device e.g: you download Facebook app, it can read your IP address and estimate your location even if you turn the GPS off. some apps run in the background and obtain your pictures if you allow these apps to gain access into your pictures..... etc
Apple helps you to be in control of your device and data by many methods , but it is your responsibility to keep your data safe as well , by reading about the developers of your app and what kind of info it is collecting by reading privacy policy.
Talking about this need lot of words to explain so I tried to summarise the point

  • My iphone 4s get wet in water yesterday and now back flash light get stuck and camera also will not open what happen to it ? will you please help me ?

my iphone get wet in water yesterday and back camera flash light get stucked, how can i recover it ? please help me ?

What happened is it got wet.  Water and electronics don't go well together.  You need to switch it off and bury it in bag of dry rice for a week at least.  This may or may not work - but continuing to try to use it in its current state will kill it for sure.  You can enquire at an Apple store about out-of-warranty replacement, depending on where you are.

  • My iPhone 4S get wet

My iPhone 4S get wet. Already replace the battery, I can turn on , but the screen coming black with some white line. I can touch the screen and moved to the next page.I can access to some app like flashlight  and work , but I can see nothing in the screen.Any help

Obviously more was damaged due to the iPhone getting wet than just the battery. There is no way someone can determine what else is damaged remotely. If you replaced the battery yourself or if this was done by a 3rd party, additional damage may have occured when doing so.

Water damage isn't covered by warranty, but you could always purchase a refurbished device from Apple.

  • My iphone got wet and after letting it dry all i get is the black screen with the grey apple and a bunch of white writting, what do I do to fix it?

my iphone got wet and after letting it dry all i get is the black screen with the grey apple and a bunch of white writting, what do I do to fix it?

You can try and put it in a bag of uncooked rice for 5 days or so, but don't get your hopes up. If that doesn't work, you get an out of warranty replacement or buy a new phone.

  • HT4061 My iphone got wet, shut itself down, and won't restart. What do I do now?

My iphone got wet, shut itself down, and won't restart. What do I do now?

Put it in a bag of rice or silica gel. Leave it there for a week. Do NOT attempt to power it on or charge it before the end of the week.
If it still doesn't work after that, make an appointment at the genius bar and get the phone replaced or buy a new one.

  • What is the deal with getting the screen wet?  Finger sweat etc?

Obviously we want to avoid this as much as possible, but lets face it, its life and its going to happen.
I had a friend who had the 1st gen iPhone and he said a snowflake fell on it one time and messed up the touch screen. And he was serious.
That sounds a bit sensitive to me, hopefully they really arent that fragile.
Now I'm not going to grab this thing right out of the shower, but what happens if it gets wet?
I notice my fingers sweat from time to time and leave tiny beads of sweat on the screen, which I quickly wipe with a cloth of some kind.
But whats the skinny on this?

I haven't experienced the same with my first generation iPhone that I used for over a year prior to purchasing an iPhone 3G, nor with my iPhone 3G.
I've never used the touch screen when my hands are soaking wet such as when just getting out of the shower or after washing my hands before drying, but our fingers do have some moisture. I wipe my iPhone's screen off with a damp cloth when needed, and I've had some condensation from a cold drink drop on my iPhone's screen with no problems.
I find it hard to believe a single snowflake landing on the screen caused a problem with the touch screen - the screen is glass and water can't penetrate glass. Water can penetrate the earbuds port, the dock connector port, and the speaker and microphone, but such reported damage is usually a result of the iPhone being completely submerged in water or liquid, or this iPhone had been dropped previously and when the touch screen got message up after a snowflake landed on the screen was only a coincidence.

  • HT4915 When i did my itunes match, there were some duplicated albums and songs.  I have gone into my library and deleted the duplicates, but they still show up on my iphone as duplicates.  What can i do to get rid of them?

When I did my itunes match, there were some duplicated albums and songs in my library.  I have gone back into my library from my computer, and deleted the duplicates.  When I did so, itunes did not ask me if I wanted to delete them from the cloud.  They are still showing up on my iphone as duplicates in the cloud.  What can I do to get them from showing up in my iphone?

They are not on the iphone in the first place.  It is just a setting that allows you to see the songs that are available in icloud, but not on your iphone.  If you turn the setting to off, then you no longer see the songs that are in icloud, but NOT on your iphone.
