What to do if ipod touch is unresponsive?

- Okay, So I just received my ipod back from punishment and it has not been used in 4 months. I tried turning it on but nothing happened, so i tried charging - NOTHING. So i connected it to my computer and pushed down on the home - menu button like everyone said to.. NOTHING AGAIN! The Screen Remains BLACK -__- I Dont Know What To Do Now.. HELP?!

I would check back on it in a couple of hours, let it charge for a while. Leaving it for that long without use has a possibility of harming the battery.

what to do my ipod touch 4g is updated to ios6 now it has a white scren and wont turn off and to top it off the homebutton does not work at all please help me

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
-When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use this program instead of the buttons.
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Oh and just a side note, I bet they are just gonna make a new iPad soon so if i were you stick with iPod Touch 5th Gen.

    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

It will continue to operate, play music and so on.  It just will not be able to update apps that rely on later iOS versions.

It appears that the iPod 4 gen is below the cutoff for iOS 7
See http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonesoftwareterms/f/What-Devices-Are-Ios-7-Compatible .htm where it say support for iOS 7 only goes down to iPod 5 gen.

  • When I try to play a song with the music app on my iPod Touch, some songs freeze at the beginning and my iPod touch becomes unresponsive to anything for up to twenty seconds.  Help?

    Hi all I'm new here.
My issue goes something like this.  When I use the standard music app to play some of my music (MOST from Beatport) on about half of the songs, my iPod will freeze and become unresponsive for up to a half minute.  After that, it normally brings me back to the playlist song selection that I was looking at previously.  I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation that is running iOS 6.1.2.  I have only three playlists, but all of the three have over 500+ unique songs on them.  (I normally don't keep duplicates of songs on my iPod)  I started to have this problem when I upated my old iPod Touch 4th Generation to iOS 6.0.0.  Ever since I got that update, half of my songs have not and will not play.
I have tried numerous times to reset my iPod (4th and 5th) and I even re-installed everything without using a backup.
Any help as to what will fix my problem?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • IPod Touch screen unresponsive

Okay, so my iPod Touch has become increasingly messed up over the last week and I was curious if I may be screwed here: it started with just that simple problem where the volume changes on its own, so I did a restart and it seemed to work fine for a few days except response time for loading songs/apps seemed slower and slower.
Then, the volume problem was back but the volume buttons wouldn't work and the screen constantly had the volume display and "headphones" on it. iTunes told me it was not able to read it or sync. Restarts didn't work, so I restored it to factory settings and it again seemed to work fine.
A few days later, the same problems came back, so I tried to restore it again--one problem, though: after restoring and going into the iPod menu to do set up, I found the entire touchscreen does not respond. From what I've seen Googling and on here, water/moisture damage is what's possibly effecting it, so I tried the "rice trick" (something that worked for a phone before) but after four days it's still unresponsive and at the "slide to unlock" screen.
Am I out of hope here? If I take it to an Apple Store to get it repaired, what's the expected cost for something like that?

Apple does not repair your iPod. They will exchange it for a refurbished one for this price.

  • What if my 8GB iPod Touch 4th Gen. won't charge and won't keep it's charge?

My iPod Touch 4thGen. 8GB 6.1.3, doesn't charge at all. For the past 2 weeks I've tried different cables/wires, 2 computers, different wall jacks, and my car charger, but to no success... And every time I somehow do manage to get it to charge, it doesn't show a lightning/electricity/zig zag pattern, only a "fully charged" symbol, and a few times don't seem to be charging the battery at all. All it says is "Charging Not Supported With This Accessory."... Like right now it is "charging", with a "fully charged" symbol, but the battery is still red and very thin. I've been charging it for the past 4 hrs. and it's still at less than 20%. What do I do? I bought it last June, and so IDK if the warranty is still useful. It's screen is cracked(since January) and the power button doesn't work at all(since May) so I can't restart it or turn it off. My friend told me to fully drain the battery, so I did. But once I connected and charged it, for around 5 or 6 hours, even then it still had a low battery. What can I do?

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • I re-installed Windows 7, and now itunes doesn't match what's on my ipod touch. How can I sync from the device back onto the laptop?

I've lost all my playlists, and itunes has included all the albums from the My Music folder that were not included for reasons of space in the previous version. Is there a way that I can sync the ipod touch to itunes on the laptop---making the laptop agree with what's on the device? Thanks for your help.

    Hello user!
In afraid you can only transfer songs from your iPod if you use "Transfer purchases" on iTunes Menu> Device.
This thing is better than move the folder from your device because iTunes use a different method to sync songs and app.
    Try it!
