What to do when bluetooth crashes

Hi, recently i've been using bluetooth to share my Mobile phone connection with my mpb. I dont know why bue sometimes the bluetooth "Service" crashes.. my bluetooth keyboard stops working.. and i cant restart Mac os X. Is there anyway to restart the bluetooth service?

Are you trying to use the Runtime class? If so, show the code. Can you correlate the problem with the use of runtime?
Do you have a virus checker running? Which one?
(I get this problem when trying to execute command.com using runtime)

Hi all,
I've been developing a Java audio application for a while now, and all of a sudden I've come up against a horrible brick wall and I don't have a clue how to go about solving this one:
I'm developing on Win98SE, and I have jdk1.3.1 and 1.4.0 installed. I can cope with error messages etc while I'm developing my code - but at the moment when I try to run my application I get nothing but a Windows error message saying "This program has performed an illegal operation (etc etc etc)". I can compile my scripts without JDK complaining. I'm working from the command line typing something very simple like "java Modulunko/Modulunko" to try and run my app.
How in the world do I go about solving this? Is it necessarily a problem with my code, or with the JRE? Will my app ever work again? (I have been working on it for about a year and a half so it would be a bit of a shame if it won't)

How can I prevent Firefox from closing when it crashes?

So, I'm using a Windows 8 computer, & when it crashes, it closes altogether & it's really annoying having to reload my session, but when I was using a Windows 7 computer, Firefox hardly ever closed altogether when it crashed- all it did was freeze. Is there some way to only have it freeze instead of closing altogether? I hope you understand what I'm saying. Thanks.

No, there isn't a way you can choose what Firefox does when it crashes. It crashes for a reason. But we can see what's causing those crashes.

Help!! What's going wrong here. I used to have iTunes installed on this computer but lost it when it crashed. I've tried re-installing it numerous times but I keep getting the same error message. "Error writing to file: C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes.Resources\es.lproj\iPadLicense.rtf. Verify that you have access to that directory." I know I have access to that directory because on a different computer I can sync my iPad and iPhone. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to go in and authorize or turn on? That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

What happened to the stuff in the trashcan when iMovie crashed?

I was editing my movie last night and had just finished my final cuts when iMovie crashed and closed. Right before this happened I had about 8 GB worth of material in the iMovie trashcan. I restarted iMovie and found that my clips were still on the storyline, but without any of the edits I had made before the crash, and that the iMovie trashcan was empty. The 8 GB that had been in the trashcan though, were never freed up. What happened to those 8 GB????????

It's also possible you were misled a bit by the way iMovie calculates the size of the iMovie Trash.
If your project has a large iMovie video clip (a clip with a large Media file) and you discard even a small portion of that clip, iMovie describes the clip in the Trash has being the same size as its Media file. The result is that the size of the Trash often SIGNIFICANTLY overstated.
In fact, emptying the iMovie Trash might not recover any disk space at all. Because of iMovie's non-destructive editing feature, if any OTHER clip relies on the discarded clip's Media file, the entire file will be preserved. Emptying the iMovie Trash will discard the clip on the Timeline, but not discard any Media files, where all the big stuff is.
So I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Trash size reported by iMovie. It tells you the maximum possible disk space that MIGHT be recovered. But it may be far, far less.

can i force bluetooth service to restart? when my bluetooth crashes my bluetooth keyboard stops working... and i cant restart my mac.. isnt there a way to force him to restart or something in the console?

In other phones, you can hear the phone ringing and if it was connected to bluetooth, you could pick up the call from the bluetooth headset.
Here with iphone, if its connected to bluetooth headset, it only rings through the headset, which means that if you dont have the headset in the ear all the time, you cannot know that you have an incoming call or message.
Any ideas - solutions - comments please?

I'm having the same problem. I had a plantronics 975 (which I lost, sadly). When connected, the ringer would always be routed through the bluetooth and the iPhone's external speaker. When in silent mode, the iPhone would only vibrate, but I could still hear the ringer in the bluetooth.
I just bought a new Plantronics Voyager+. Now when it's connected, all sounds are routed to the earpiece - including the taps, etc. The iPhone's speaker doesn't ring at all, unless the bluetooth is disconnected or powered off. I'd really like to be able to hear both, like I was before. This is an iPhone 3G running iOS 4 (latest version, not sure what it is exactly). Haven't updated software/firmware in between bluetooths, just changed the earpiece.

If the crash started right after you added RAM, it could be a bad Ram dimm. You can try this - change the amount of RAM in Photoshop to 4G, this should stop Photoshop from using the higher ram. If it doesn't crash, it's probably the ram. Or run a diagnostic app. You don't say when it crashes, what you're doing when it crashes - it there a pattern? Did it ever work on this computer? Did it work on your previous computer? Without a lot of data, it could be related to the new computer... What OS version? Did you recently update it? Have you updated Photoshop to the most recent update?
Do you have any plug-ins loaded? Try restarting Photoshop, and immediately press & hold the shfit key to turn off plug-ins.

So, how do I delete this folder. Remember, I am not extremely familiar with technical terms.

I recommend you erase the TC.. it is the easiest and fastest solution.
In Airport utility open the disk tab and select erase.. choose quick erase.. it will take less than 1min.
Start again but copy files in small amounts.

Does Mozilla Respond To Cash Report When FIREFOX Crashes?

I'm getting a lot crashes. I have asked for help when it crashes but never heard any thing back. So the question is what good are the crash reports when no one reads them?

We don't respond to every individual crash report that comes in, but we do look at them, and track trends and and use the crashes to help fix future versions of Firefox. Are you having a specific crash? If you would like help resolving it feel free to give us the crash ID :)

Launching a native debugger when VM crashes

Is there any way to get the JVM (on Windows - no core dump file) to launch the Windows native debugger (e.g. VC++) when it crashes on an error in the native code? The hs_err_pidXXX.log file is not adequate - I'd like to at least find out the native call stack at the time of the crash.
This is a sporadic crash that moves around from build to build, so it seems hard to catch other ways. If one can't get the JVM to launch a native debugger, does anyone have any other ideas?

How can JVM detect its own sudden, non-graceful death and do anything? You'd need some wrapper that monitors the JVM, like what the browser does for script errors. Even then, with this arrangement, you'd still lose the memory dump, because the wrapper is by definition external.
Your best bet probably lies with Microsoft tools rather than Java, since the OS has the memory info. Try MSDN.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

Is there any way to revive the changes that I had just made?

First: have you checked your draft-console? Maybe it's still
there, f.i. when the crash occured during publish.
Second: if you enabled rollbacks (in the menu: Edit,
Administer Websites, Pick your site, Rollbacks) you can go back to
the previous version of the page (in the menu: File, Actions,
Rollback to previous version). Depending on what went wrong, maybe
you find something usefull here.

Why Presenter erase all MP3 when Powerpoint crash ???

I want to know why Presenter erase all MP3 files if Powerpoint crash ?
step by step...
1- Someone came in my studio and record his presentation. I took him 2 hours.
2- When finish, I click "save" and close the recording windows.
3- Back in Powerpoint, I click the save button of Powerpoint... and... Powerpoint crash.
4- In windows explorer, I see the Powerpoint and the folder create by Adobe Presenter for the audio files with all the MP3 in that folder.
-"Yes, everything is there"
5- I re-open the Powerpoint of the client.
6- Click on modify to see if all the audio are there
7- Haaaaaaaaa, no audio.
-"Ok, I just have to reimport all the MP3 one by one"
8- I try to do that and.... Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa.... the folder with all the audio has been deleted by Presenter !!!! I lost all the audio !!!!!!
Ok, that's not what really happen. Because I know that sometimes Adobe Presenter decide for me that it want to delete ALL my audio files. So after step 4 (before re-open the Powerpoint of the client) I made a backup of the folder that contains all the mp3.
Can someone tell me why Presenter decide to erase all audio files when it crash or when it has a problem ????
If I did not make a backup, I would have lost all the work of the client...
And can someone help me with my other post (august 2010)
Audio files name
All the 60 slides of my client have a name that doesn't match with the slide. So because Adobe Presenter crashed et erase all the audio files, I have to re-import them slide by slide. But with all those bizarre name, I have to listen each files and find the good slide that match with them. why the mp3 don't have a name that match the slide number. It would be very very very easiest !!!!!!!!!!

What version of Presenter are you using? I know this was a bug with Presenter 7.0.0, and maybe 7.0.1. I've not heard of it happening since then, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. It may be worth a discussion with Adobe Support about what happened and why Presenter would delete your audio files. You can reach them at 800-945-9120.
As to you other post, I did reply to it, but Presenter's functionality can't be changed. When you publish the presentation the audio files that are created do have a naming convention that associates them with the slide they are on, but in the build phase, it uses some cryptic method that I've never been able to figure out. So, for that reason, as well as a handful of other non-Presenter related reasons, I've taken to just using an Audio recording/editing application to deal with my audio, and then importing to Presenter. This allows me more control over the naming convention, as well as more control over the quality and settings used to record and/or encode the audio. It may seem like more work at first, but I feel like I can get through the audio portion of Presenter faster when I use a tool built for audio. Just remember to save or split your audio into individual files for each slide. Name them sequentially and then you can import them all at once into Presenter by selecting the first slide you wish to import to, browsing to the audio files and selecting them all for import.

The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
Menu > Format > Import Styles
The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.
