What to do with a DVCPro HD file

I work in an educational institution and media students have given m a 50GB DVCPro HD file (has a mov extension) to try and reduce down to fit onto a DVD.
Quicktime Player (7.6.4) will not play it, tells me I require additional components and sends me to an Apple (Quicktime Components) page with a list of possible "plug in" solutions.
I have Final Cut Express 4 HD (and little experience using it... takes a while working thru the 1,100+ page manual) but I understand that FCE does not handle the DVCPro HD format.
What options on the Mac are available to work with (or even view) this video format?
If I can at least view it, I can capture it with SnapzPro X (and save as a usable mov file).

The DVCPRO HD codec is only available with Final Cut Studio. You might try seeing if it will work with Perian. If not, you'll have to find someone with FCS and have them convert it to the Apple Intermediate Codec.
If you want this for DVD playback, you do not need to reduce the file size. The DVD authoring application will compress it to MPEG-2.

Usually that error can be cleared up by renaming the personal config folder. Turn on your OS's hidden files and then go to...
C: > Users > your username > AppData > Roaming > Dreamweaver (version) > your language > configuration
Rename the configuration folder configuration-old and start DW up. That should create an entirely new configuration folder and correct the menu.xml file.

What to do with a Corrupt project file? Render Errors?

I have a FCP project that has somehow gone corrupt. It still opens and I have access to it, but after working in it for a while, renders go crazy. I am working in DVCPRO HD 1080i60 with many layers, and a 2.35 matte. Sometimes a render misses layers, sometimes a renders put an image from the sequence in the wrong place, sometimes the render just plain goes crazy like it was on acid.
I have recently switched computers and am having the same problem. Therefore I think my project is somehow corrupt.
Does anyone know a good way to port the project to get a clean start? Please let me know. I am thinking of trying to do an XML port for the project, but the file is huge (300MB) and I worry...

And this external hard disk - HAS TO be Mac OS Extended formatted (not often solsd so)
AND - Moving Events and Projects - Should be done within iMovie - NOT via Desktop/Finder !
If so there is a great risk that iMovie can't find them again !

next with the javascript files in order for me to
"select" them in Dreamweaver like the original

Download and install the Dreamweaver updater extension for

It won't add any new widgets, etc, but it will use the right
files for 1.6
.. and you can hand code the additional widgets available in
1.6. There are
some examples on Adobe Labs.

- Why WebLogic Container generates so many "Info" kind of logs?
- Could we config the WebLogic Server to avoid such "Info" kind of logs being
written into weblogic.log file?

It is harmless - it means that by the time server got to process lease
renewal message object is already gone.
You may want to check with support - I think there was a fix which supressed
this message.

What's wrong with my Application.cfc file

I've decided to convert an old app from using Application.cfm to Application.cfc, mainly because I want to use onRequestStart and the like, and I can't get them to initialize in Application.cfm.
But for some reason, this Application.cfc file causes my pages to come up blank. I can't for the life of me figure out why, since it's copied from an app that works perfectly fine.

What is in the two templates you are including inside your onRequest() function? Do they actually output any content?
You don't have the actual requested page being included. You need to add an argument to the top of the function to receive the requested page:
<cfargument name="TargetPage" type="string" required="true">
Then you need to add another <cfinclude> to include that page:
<cfinclude template="#arguments.TargetPage#" />
You'll have to figure out if that include should come before or after your existing includes.

I found this on another site. In layman's terms can an someone tell me what this person is talking about

What to do with transferred Migration assistant files?

My 5 year old MacBook Pro display stopped working. I used Migration assistant to transfer my files to another MacBook. Can I get rid of (trash) these transferred files?

I assume you want to trash them on the hdd that resides on the 5 year old MBP. Set it up for target disk mode and delete the files:

What to do with js, css files

I hope this question is appropriate for this forum because I have scratched my head for hrs. I am in the mission of finding a simple drop down menu and came across to this site http://css-tricks.com/simple-jquery-dropdowns/
It uses minimum jquery and CSS to achieve it. Looks like it is reasonable for a novice to tackle. Codes are downloaded and unzipped ( there are css,images,js). Question is how do I even get this to run under my test application ? I would think I need to import the image files but what to do with the rest of files? they are not plugin. Could any guru give me a jump start ?

You should be able to import them into APEX under "Shared Components - Static Files" and "Shared Components - CSS". Then you can include the files in your page template using the following html code:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="#APP_IMAGES#style.css" type="text/css" />After a quick glance, I don't think you'll need the image they have included.

What's up with 10/24/06 cfapplets.jar hotfix?

When I download the supposed "cfapplets.jar" 10/24/06 hotfix,
it is really a zip file containing a bunch of stuff.
The instructions on

Jar files are basically just zipped files compiled into one.
Just download it and replace the old cfapplets.jar file with
the new one. Doc is pretty much self explanatory.

I am unable to open files on amything!!! a box pops up that asks me what do i want to open the file with..every time!! I want files to open when i click on them!! This happens with emails, websites, everything

I try to open attachments in emails and they will not open! A box comes up asking 'what do I want to open the file with', and it wants me to select from a list of options like - Firefox, IE, Word, Yahoo Browser. When I make a selection (usually Firefox) a new tab opens with a blank page! This always happens on attachments, links, websites......everything!

These files were lost two years ago.
That's not consistent with what you wrote in your first message. I can't help you unless I know what's going on. Either you do, or do not, have backups of all the data you want to keep. If you do not, then the first thing you need to do is back up those files. It makes zero sense to do anything else. In order to back up, you'll need either of two things: another Mac, in working order, with a FireWire port and enough space on its internal drive to hold your files; or an external drive, also with enough space.
On the other hand, if you do have backups, or if you simply don't care about any of the data, then the solution to your problem may be quite simple. All you have to do is boot from your installation disc (your profile says you're running Mac OS 10.5), erase your internal drive, reinstall the Mac OS, then restore your data from backup. You will need to be selective in restoring software, because incompatible software may be what caused the issue.
But it's also possible that you have a hardware failure, in which case you can't get your computer working again until it's repaired.

Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder.

When logging on to Hotmail, a window opens asking me "What to do with this file" for "default.aspx"

This morning, I am unable to log in to Hotmail. The homepage appears normally, but after I enter my email address and password and click to submit them, a window pops us asking me what to do with the file "default.aspx." I have a Vista machine, and last night my computer automatically installed a ton of Microsoft updates. In fact, the update list shows that one of the updates failed to install. At the end of this message, I have pasted the details of the failed update. I have checked the Hotmail support forum, and someone else posted that the have experienced the same problem this morning. The Microsoft "expert" asked him or her to contact Mozilla for support for this issue. Thanks in advance for whatever help you can provide, although I highly suspect that this is a problem on the Microsoft/Hotmail end, not yours.

Hotmail is rolling out a server change at their end which might be causing this problem. Mozilla has spoken to them about it and they are trying to fix it. I won't be able to provide you a time estimate by when it will be solved but hotmail/mozilla is certainly looking at this issue.
I will let you know if get any updates!
