What to do with a new battery..?

I recently got a new battery because my old one went bad. Am I suppose to charge it until full, then leave it on full for a certain period of time? Or can I just start using battery power now. I heard there is a special way to process your new battery once you put it in your computer.

Have a look at this Apple page on notebook batteries.Especially the section on calibrating your battery for longer life.

I cannot get more than 12 to 14 hours out of a full charge, and with a new battery.  The battery has been charged at least a dozen times, so I know it's at full charge.  Is the phone dying?

Do a Li-ion battery rebuild. Do a full 6-8 hour charge with device in sleep mode, next run it down to about 45-50 % and then a 4-5 hour charge. After that use your phone and take it down to 30%. Another 6-8 hour charge and then down to no lower then 20-25% and one more full 8 hour charge. At that point your battery should be rebuilt back to a normal life cycle. This should eliminate your battery problem.

  • Nomad MuVo will not power on even with a new battery. USB works fine, just No Green

It was working fine. I didn't use it for a couple of weeks and thought the battery was dead. But it will not even come on with a new battery. Any suggestions?

Since it connects properly to the pc, I suggest loading the latest firmware into it.
    http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/...d=NOMAD%20MuVo
Make sure that is the correct firmware for your exact Muvo model. If not, then choose the proper one.

    Advice:
    1. Learn to use punctuation and sentence structure - your post makes little sense.
    2. I'm getting the idea you now want to use your old "useless" battery.  Why, if it's useless?

  • What to do with swollen iphone battery

I have an IPhone 3GS, no longer in service or under warranty, was just being used occasionally as an MP3 player.
Two days ago, the battery started swelling, it cracked the case open, and the swelling kept getting worse.  I pulled the
thing all the way open and have it in a coffee can in my garage for the time being.  I have seen any number of similar stories
(mostly complaints) for Iphone 3GS. I am not interested in fixing it or complaining about it.  I only want to know
what to do with the thing.   I don't want my house to burn up if it explodes.  I have not been able to find the answer
    at Apple or AT&T.

it does not explode the battery expands thats all it's not a explotion forming
but it will stop working (the battery that is)
a 3th party  repair shop could put in a new batt and put a new case on if it was damaged
If you don't want to pay for repair then I would put in a dock if it fit and use it as you say as mp3 player though when the batt dies 100% it will likely stop working even in the dock

  • Having problems with brand new battery installed...Help please!

Here's my problem. I just recently replaced the battery on my 13" Macbook. The brand new battery ordered from Apple arrived on Saturday and up until last night everything was great. Now all of a sudden the computer is doing the same things it did with the old battery. I am getting the green light on the MagSafe Adapter even though the battery is not fully charged. I am also alternating between "Not Charging" on the battery icon and a "X" on the icon.
I did some reading and tried resetting the PRAM and SMC. I even uninstalled Leopard and reinstalled Tiger (updating everything afterwards), thinking maybe it was a software issue. (I just recently installed Leopard and hoped it was just a bad install.) None of that really seems to work.
There is one slight exception- the SMC reset. After I do the SMC reset I get the amber light from the adapter, the icon shows charging and all is well for about 15 to 30 minutes. Then I am back at square one.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or ideas on what could be going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It seems like you have eliminated all the easy fixes for your problem - what is left is the computer itself. Call Apple (800-275-2273) and explain the troubleshooting you have already done. They should set up a repair for your computer. If it is out of warranty you may have to pay for the repair.
    Best of luck.

  • In version 3.6 I can not open a website link from original page, I keep getting a new window that is blank and asking me to put in a web address. What has changed with the new version?

When on a page if I click on a web link I get a new window that is blank and asks me enter a web address. This started happening with the new 3.6 version. It seems to have something to do with what I choose for the location in my privacy settings as the window changes with each setting but I still cannot get to the new site. Any ideas? I have no problem with this in IE and I have to keep opening IE when I encounter the problem on Firefox which is annoying.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • How do I hide old podcasts in iTunes 11.1 and What's Up with the New Podcast Pane?

FIrst of all, I'm having fits with this "new" way of managing podcasts.
For years, I have managed the podcasts on my iPod (and now my iPhone 5) by manually syncing the device with my subscribed podcasts in iTunes. I have iTunes set to download the most recent episode of each of my podcasts and to keep all episodes until I delete them. Some podcasts I listen to or view only my MacBook Pro and I don't sync these to my iPhone. This has worked fine for years.
I moved to Apple's dedicated Podcasting app when I purchased my iPhone 5 earlier this year, but I maintained the manual syncing as I had done, using the app only to play the podcasts, not to subscribe to or download them.
I upgraded my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 to iOS 7 on launch day and downloaded iTunes 11.1 to my MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.8.5. The iOS upgrades went flawlessly for both of my devices, but iTunes has been a problem. It was sluggish when I first opened it, with lots of spinning beach balls. When I opened it for the first time, I went to the Podcast section and to my list of podcasts. They all now had "Subscribe" buttons by each of them (I was already subscribed to the podcasts in iTunes before the update). I assumed that I had to click the buttons to activate subscriptions in iTunes, but low and behold I discovered that it subscribed my iPhone 5's podcast app to ALL of the podcasts in my list (even ones that I don't put on the iPhone). It also started DOWNLOADING all of the episodes of these podcasts to my iPhone which, had I let it continue, would have eaten all of my bandwidth on Verizon for the month (and then some), plus the iPhone would have been filled up long before it could finish downloading the episodes.
I managed to get the iPhone's Podcast app to stop downloading these episodes, then I manually deleted all of the podcasts that didn't belong on the iPhone. I then had to go through all of the podcasts in the app and click a yellow box that said they hadn't been updated and wouldn't resum updating until I clicked the box.
Then I went back to iTunes 11.1, where I discovered that ALL the podcast episodes for my subscriptions that are still available for download in their feeds were now listed (2,000+ episodes), with previously listened-to episodes now showing with a cloud download icon next to them. Even more frustrating, I can't delete these from iTunes even though I've already listened to them and, even more frustratingly, the "Subscribe" button remains by each podcast in the list.
All I want to do is remove these previously-listened to podcasts from my lists, remove the subscribe buttons (since I'm already subscribed in iTunes), and continue to manually sync my iPhone's podcasts with iTunes as before. What do I have to do to make this happen? And if these are new "features" of the new iTunes, please share with your team that, while there are many who update wirelessly over their cell carrier's bandwidth, others of us don't have the capability (or desire) to do things this way and we want to switch this off and return to the "old" way of doing things.
Any ideas on how to fix iTunes 11.1 to return to the old way of doing things would be greatly appreciated!

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization.  With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options.  If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast.  I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why?  How is this making it a better program?  I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was).  But to not give users the option to delete that list?  It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating.  I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature.  It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway?  There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions.  Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution.  I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS.

  • What's wrong with the New  iMac's AirPort?

    Hello
Last night I spent 4 hours trying to connect with my brand new wireless router (Netgear DG834PN). The one time I did connect and tried to configure using Netgear's Wizard (using Safari) my Mac's AirPort Extreme dropped the connection, never to return. The next 3hrs 55mins were spent trying to to get the two devices to connect. Unsuccessfully. Very frustrating!
I even tried connecting the two devices via ethernet, and still no joy. What should I do? Is my new Mac's Built-in AirPort Extreme faulty? Is my new wireless router faulty? Any other testing suggestions welcome.
I've have read, on this forum, about possible problems with the new aluminium iMac's AirPort. Is this a known fact or just a batch issue?
*Many Thanks* (Apologies if I haven't explained myself very well, first post)
    Mike

    *Hi it's me again*
Still no joy trying to connect to my router wirelessly via AirPort.
*+(Xiaofan & Benderissimo)+* - I can't even get as far as logging into the router via a browser. AirPort literally can't see anything even thought it's switched on. This means I have no chance to change the channel or anything else. I'm stuck.
Could AirPort be locked out or something?
On the plus side I have connected to the internet via ethernet. It was no problem at all. I basically connected a length on Cat. 5 cable from port 1 at the back of the router and into my Mac, and *hey presto!* (broadband at full speed). Happy.
The thing is I eventually want to move my iMac upstairs, this is when I need AirPort wireless to start working. I don't want to trail 100ft of Cat. 5 cable all round the house.
What else can I try to make my built-in AirPort Extreme work?
    _*I'm Flummoxed, Apple help me.*_

  • My Macbook (2006) with a new battery empties its battery overnight in sleep mode, why?

It's now been six months that I can't use sleep mode if my macbook is unplugged because the battery gets empty overnight. I had to replace my battery three months ago and I thought this would solve my problem. But, although my new battery lasts for over 4 hours, it is completely empty after a night in sleep mode. I checked the Internet but I found nothing. I've tried to reset the energy management system, but it did not good.
The mac really goes into sleep mode (I can see the brightness of the white light change when the lid is closed).
My macbook has a dual boot Mac os Lion and Windows 7 with bootcamp and the problem is the same whether sleeping under Mac OS or under Windows 7.
I tried turning bluetooth and wifi off, but it doesn't change anything.
    I hope someone can help.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thank you for your answer,
I tried to log out and put the computer to sleep, but I still lost 40% of the battery in 10 hours (I reckon it is a little less than when I'm not logged out).
I reset the SMC again, no result either.
The computer does look like it is sleeping, the display is off, the light is changing and if I touch a key of the keyboard, it turn itself back with the sound of the CD check.
Does my answer help the diagnosis?
Would reinstall the whole computer solve my problem?
    Thanks!

  • Just ran my pro with brand NEW battery...

i got the new battery from apple yesterday and let it charge up and shut it down overnite.
i ran it off the battery this morning and it lasted 3 hours...
i was doing my usual surfing and emailing, had the screen on bright, the backlighting was on for a bit and that's about it.
what's interesting tho is that the old battery cycle count was 43 and this one reads 0.....i think i'll call apple tech and ask about that....
ps it seems to run faster too.....loading pages etc.

what's interesting tho is that the old battery cycle count was 43 and this one reads 0
It's zero because it's a new battery, and hasn't been through a complete charge cycle yet. The "counter" doesn't use fractions, and doesn't round up. Just like a new baby if you count age in years - they're not one year old until a year from their birth day...
I'd call ~3 hours normal for battery life on an MBP.

  • Does a refurb come with a new battery

does a refurb come with a new battery

    dreed75
I will be happy to answer your question.
In the event you have to receive a replacement (Certified Like New Replacement) we will send you the shell of the phone itself.
You will need to keep all accessories (battery, battery door, cases, memory cards) and transfer them over to the replacement phone once you receive it.
If you had an issue with the phone & the battery, then we would most definitely send a brand new battery unless your battery was exposed to moisture and/or physical damage.
Keep in mind the original battery does come with a 1 year manufacturer warranty (as long as there is no physical or moisture damage)

  • Help with brand new battery

Hello, My birthday is Feb. 20. Because I recently got an iBook with a dead battery, I thought I would treat myself and get a new battery for my iBook. Well, I have had it in my iBook for about 5 days and it worked fine. But the other day, I powered up my iBook, and the battery was at 97%. It said it was running on AC power, but the charging light was still orange. It also said it was fully charged at 97%. How could this be? It's only a few days old. Please help me fix this problem. Thanks.
P.S I let it run on battery power for a while, I got it down to about 95%. Then I plugged it in. It said it was fully charged. Why is this happening?

    Hi Carmen
Does the charger ever turn green? I wonder if the charger is working properly and was the cause of the flat battery previously.
If you think the charger is OK, then you may need to reset the PMU.
Ronda Wilson explains how to do this:
    • If the computer is on, turn it off.
    • Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
    • Wait 5 seconds.
    • Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.
Some people have reported that they needed to repeat the procedure multiple times for it to work.
Check that Resetting the PMU is the coreect method for your particular computer by looking at this link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
However before you do this try and verify that the charger is working properly, as that could be the problem. Perhaps you could borrow a friend's charger if possible and see if your battery can be charged up by it.
