What to do with a Palm Portable Keyboard

I have a Palm Portable Keyboard that I used to use with the Palm IIIxe. My IIIxe still operates, but I don't use it much anymore. I've been wondering if there is anyway to convert the portable keyboard to a bluetooth device that could then be used with a smartphone. I'm sure it's a long shot, but has anyone adapted these to bluetooth or USB use with other devices?

Sorry, I've never heard of this being done.

  • Documents To Go support for Palm Portable Keyboard Shortcuts

I’m using a Palm Tungsten E along with a Palm Wireless Keyboard (IR).
When using an application such as Memos, all the usual Palm Portable Keyboard Shortcuts (cursor movements, etc.) are supported.
When using DataViz Word To Go (Ver. 6.008 (761)), however, none of the usual keyboard shortcuts will function, making document editing (especially corrections and revisions) a total nightmare.
Has anyone else encountered this issue and, if so, how do I resolve it?
Windows XP Pro/SP3 on the desktop.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Their support model (unless you're prepared to fork out more money, I suppose) consists entirely of searching their inadequate knowledgebase; this contain only help articles, not bug reports along these lines.
I've always (and still) thought that the Dataviz knowledgebase was pretty good, and I have almost always found answers to my questions there.
Did you come across this article in your search, which solved the problem I was having with my Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard?  It's a simple matter of disabling the Active Text Field feature.

  • Will a Palm portable keyboard work with iPad?

I have a portable Palm keyboard that I use with a Palm TX. I want to know if it will work with an iPad, Does anyone know? Thanks

Palm has made a number of wireless keyboards and not all of them were even compatible with all of the different models of Palm handhelds. Different model keyboards required different drivers based on the OS version of the handheld. The one you have may well workwith an iPad or it may not, you will need to try. But I would not get my hopes up.
I can tell you that the Apple BT keyboard works a treat with my iPad 2 and the two look smart together.

  • Help with the Palm WIreless Keyboard

Hello all,  I have a Palm Tungsten E2 device with the universal wireless keyboard.  I am familiar with most of the functions of the keyboard however there is one thing I have found elusive to this point.  I'll do my best to describe the issue in detail so here goes.
My problem occurs when I open the calendar using the wireless keyboard shortcut (Fn + 4). I press the sequence and my palm pilot opens the calendar to the default "agenda" view, which is fine, but from there I want to navigate to the "daily", "weekly" or "monthly" view quickley (without using the stylus). I know to reach "daily" I press (start + enter) in the "agenda" view which highlights the first scheduled task for that particular day then pressing (start + enter) again opens the "daily" view.  From there I can enter appointments as I see fit. But, what I want to do is navigate directly from "agenda" to "monthly" or "weekly".  Is there a way to do this with a shortcut key combination? Also,  I don't want to change the pilots default calendar setting from agenda to monthly.
Hopefully this makes sense,  please let me know if there is a way to do this, also, if more information is required please post and I will respond.
    Thanks,
    CKF

For Vista that version will not let you install programs. Good news though is we have a version you can. Go here, http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/windesk62.html and install this on top of the version you already have. There is going to be a few changes on the desktop, there is no quick install, but the install tool.
Once you have that done just double click on keyboard and it will ask you your hotsync name and sync and your done.
Oh as a side note the check if this is your solution is only if the answer solves your original question.

  • What to do with a broken Bluetooth keyboard?

I have an Apple Bluetooth keyboard with non-working keys: Tab, Caps Lock, left Shift, Q, W, E, R, and T. All the others work fine, and I can successfully pair it with my PowerBook. I took it apart to investigate and confirmed what I had suspected: Some water I had recently spilled on the keyboard had corroded the contacts on those non-working keys.
So, the keyboard is basically useless to me now and I'm wondering what to do with it. I see three options:
    1) Throw it away.
    2) Sell it on eBay as "parts". Maybe somebody's kid pried off a key on their keyboard, and they're willing to pay me $10 for replacement keys instead of buying a whole new keyboard.
    3) Replace the corroded membrane with a new one. This would give me a working keyboard, but I don't know where to get a membrane (unless I buy another keyboard, of course).
    Any suggestions?

I ended up putting it on eBay.

  • What's wrong with the built-in keyboard on my macbook? The caps button does not work rite, no matter what letter button i push they all come out capitals and the number keys when pushed display the special characters instead of the numbers!

the built-in keyboard on my macbook is not functioning right, the number keys when pushed display the special characters instead of the numbers,
the caps button doesn't work at all, the letter buttons display capitals when pushed whether the caps button is on or off, the shift keys are also out of whack!!
It seems it somehow got relocated to the "0" button because if you push and hold the zero button down the keyboard seems to operate normally, the number keys display numbers when pushed the letter keys display lower case when pushed but release the zero button and your back in the twilight zone!! Can anybody help me resolve this issue? one more thing im using an external usb keyboard right now and it seems to function properly if that helps any.

You would do better in the actual macbook pro forums (this is not).

  • What's up with the Command-9 keyboard shortcut in Mail?

I’m using Apple Mail 4.2 (1077). If you look up “Keyboard Shortcuts” in Mail’s help, there’s a keyboard shortcut “Command-9” by the entry “Open RSS mailbox”. It doesn’t do anything though. I’m just wondering—was this a feature in the past that was removed, and whose entry in Mail’s help didn’t get edited? Or can I enable it somehow?

The fix was: Turn off Junk Mail filter
    quit mail
    turn on junk mail filter
(and reset database for good measure)

  • Palm m515/ Portable keyboard problem!

    Hello guys!
Ok, so i have a palm M515. I wanted to get a keyboard for it, so I had gotten the Universal IR keyboard, after researching and finding that it was compatible with my Palm, and guess what? Didn'f work. Sent it back, and did WAY more research on the right keyboard. So i got the Palm portable keyboard! It said it was compatible with the m125, etc. and most of all, the m500 series! I had the M515. I had gotten it today, and decided to try it out! I went to connect my PDA with the keyboard, and connectors, are different.
(really) Long story short, is the m515 REALLY compatible with the palm portable keyboard P10802U, or was I just screwed out of my money again?
If it IS compatible, why on earth does myine not work with it!?
    Thanks!

Since the original poster has not yet replied about his experiences, I hope it's ok for me to piggy back on his question.
Now that Palm has 2 bluetooth keyboards (Palm Wireless Keyboard with Bluetooth Wireless Technology and the Think Outside Bluetoth Wireless Keyboard), I wanted to know if anyone has gotten either to work with the Blackberry.
Alan noted that Think Outside drivers are available for the BB, but what about the other keyboard?
Both are on sale now, but the Palm Wireless Keyboard with Bluetooth Wireless Technology is quite a bit cheaper.

  • Palm bluetooth keyboard with Blackberry

Has anyone had success connecting their Palm bluetooth keyboard with a Blackberry? The Blackberry recognizes the keyboard but looks for a password. I don't need a password for my Palm TX, so I don't know what to plug into as a password for the Blackberry. Thanks.

  • What's best, with or without keyboard?

What's best, with or without keyboard?

I bought a cover for my iPad that included a bluetooth keyboard. For simple typing, the on-screen kbd is OK. For more complex typing the kbd is much easier/quicker to use. The disadvantages are the extra cost and added weight/size.
However, the wraparound case provides extra drop/scratch protection for the iPad
