What to do with t0 in Get Waveform Subset.vi
I am new to LabVIEW. I was trying to look at the Get Waveform Subset.vi, and it doesn't explain what to put in for t0. At the moment, when I try and put my waveform through the subset VI and display that on a separate waveform, I get nothing displayed. My settings are in the attached screenshot. I am not getting any error message, therefore am struggling to understand what I am doing wrong.

I have now attached a copy of my VI. What I've been asked to do is produce a sine wave with the amplitude and frequency adjustable via controls on the front panel, which I have done. However I also need to display a section afterwards. I know I can wire up a control to the phase of the simulate signal VI, so do I have to just use the simulate signal VI twice, once with the full sine wave and once with the phase shift, or is there a less convoluted way of doing this?

Get waveform subset vi lagging
Hello all,
I'm running into an issue with a Get Waveform Subset.vi taking an awfully long time to run (~15s). I'm working with a large-ish data set (5431296 data points). I double checked with the Performance and Memory tool and it's defiantly something with this VI.
The program is suppose to grab a new subset from the waveform and look for a trigger, record where the event happens, then move onto the next subset and repeat.
Am I doing something wrong with the VI to make it lag so much? Or better yet, is there a better way to do what I'm trying to accomplish?

Problem with GetWaveformSubset.JPG 66 KBHi Lynn,
What values are you using for Start samples and Duration?
Start: 333131 initially then it increments depending on where the triggered edge is
Duration: 55 samples
Do you get any errors?
None that I could see. The Get Waveform Subset vi rounded my duration and start sample values which I was fine with.
How many iterations does it run.
The current code runs ~800 - 900 iteration.
So since it last posted, I removed the Get Waveform Subset vi and replaced it with a ArraySubset thinking it would speed things up. Turns out the Get Waveform Subset vi is fairly optimized already...go figure.I also decimated my waveform using the Resample Waveform vi to reduce the number of samples in each subset. By playing with my re sampling interval, I was able to reduce the run time to ~ 3 seconds.
So here's what I'm actually trying to do and for full disclosure, yes, it is for a school assignment.
I have a signal from a NOAA satellite that I'm trying to convert into a image. The data is sent using APT format and is not real time, rather just an audio file. I have managed to demodulate the signal and removed the carrier wave and filtered the signal appropriately. What I'm having issues with is detecting synchronization pulses in my signal. Right now, my sync pulse detection scheme involves running a FIR bandpass filter at the sync pulse frequency and then using trigger detection to find where my sync pulses start.
Am I going about this the wrong way? Is there a more efficient method I should be looking at.

"Get Waveform Subset": version incompatibility
Hello everybody!
I was studing an already developped software and there was something relative to waveform uses that I didn't get it (concretly it was that I didn't know very well what I have to put in the Duration input when I was using the Get Waveform Subset function in the Relative Time mode. Should the duration be "T0 + sth" or just "sth"?)
Then, to understand it, I tried to simulated it. I was working at the same time with 2 computers with 2 different versions of Labview (7.1 and 8.6). The funny thing is that I created exactly the same VI for the oldest version and the new one, however it only works for the oldest one. When I try to run the new version I get that mistake message:
"Error -1801 occurred at Start value too large in Get Waveform Subset.VI.
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: (Hex 0xFFFFF8F7) Duration input is not an integer multiple of dt. Value was coerced to nearest integer multiple of dt."
What's wrong with my new Labview version subvi?
Thank you!!

7.1 version.JPG 41 KBGovBob,
Thanks a lot for your solution. Writing zero in the start input it does work. However there are 2 things I don't understand:
1-.Why does it work in the oldest version using the elapsed second function? Is the output of this function a longer number now? I think it should also work for the newest versions.
2-.If we can't write a time stamp, what do we have to do to skip the samples of a period of time? If we use like a starting time zero, what is the difference now between the relative time mode and the sample one?
I have wondered that, and I have been doing some tests and now I am more confused that before I was. :s
First of all, I was thinking: If we don't want to skip the first samples is logical that it does work for zero. I imagined that if for instance our wave starts in the second number 1000, so if we write a number below 1000, we are going to get always samples from the first positions (we could also get samples from other position but the first one would be always in the output wave). However when I wrote a signal, using as a t0 the elapsed second function and dt:1. Then I used "get waveform subset" in the relative time mode, and I set start:1 and duration:1, I got the second sample instead of the first one. (I was expecting the first one for the reason I have already explained)
Also, thinking about the behaviour of the function in the relative time mode I have done some test, in order to get a pattern, but I haven't successed. I will attached a file with the ideas got from the tests.

MSVCR80.DILL What's up with this Cant get on ITunes after update.
When i try to go to my ITunes account I get this message What's up with this?
You're welcome.

When you get a subset from a waveform, the subset starts the x-scale at 0. Is it possible to have the same scale as which you have acquired the subset? ie if i start a 0.4s and my duration is 0.4s, i would like my subset graph to start at 0.4s instead of 0.
Have a look at the attached vi. May be there is something even more simple.

What to do with users who get software mode in Stage3d?
I've got a Stage3d AIR game compiled as a desktop exe using ADT and distributed through Steam. About 3% of users are being thrown into super-slow Software Mode. Most of them have relatively new video cards and up to date drivers, and they can play other 3d games. Some use NVIDIA, some ATI, some AMD, different versions of windows etc. My game instantiates a series of contexts determine the optimum stage3d profile but all of them fail to connect to the gpu for these users, even baselineConstrained. I am not using requestContext3DMatchingProfiles because it throws errors.
I need advice on how to approach this issue. I started collecting dxdiags and filed a bug, but since the cards are so disparate and I suspect the issue is with their particular systems and not the hardware itself, I'm not sure that's going to be useful. Obviously I tell them to update their drivers and make sure they're using the right card on dual-card systems (eg Nvidia Optimus). But when that doesn't work, what next?
Is there a standard test for stage3d compatibility that I could point these users towards?I feel that the solution you proposed with the private LAN would be sufficient as long as the DVD drive and USB ports were access controlled to where you could be confident that no one would place disks or drives into them that might be infected with viruses
or malware.
Being that you are running scientific equipment with the PCs I can surely understand the cost of upgrades, and that it should be relatively easy to control what gets connected to the PCs. But while this solution is in place, I would be researching
any way possible to accomplish the upgrade ultimately.

Suggestions what to do with current box, getting new one
Hey guys just curious if I could get some ideas. My current machine (p4 3.4ghz EE, 1.2gb ram, BFG 7600GS 512mb) will be free for any purpose once I get my new build this week. I have several sata drives, an extra monitor, kb, mouse, etc. to make it fully functional alongside the new one if need be. What could I do with it? I don't need to sell it and would like some use of it. Any ideas?? I was thinking of a server, but I have a domain with host and tons of storage that does that more than well enough right now. Maybe a game server? What would you guys do ??
Any ideas are much appreciated, TIA everyoneThanks guys!
Yes, I didn't think of these. Installing different distros would be great for me to learn and explore linux further

What do you mean stick ssh and break the system? I like the sound of that But exactly what you mean ??
And I like the sound of mail server. Now I mainly use GMail for it and other 2 accounts, what would be benefit to mail server? -

How to save applications and what to do with .dmg file
To be honest I think that it is much easier to download apps on windows, but maybe i'm just not doing something right here. It seems that every time I download an app I get a number of files that I don't know what to do with. I get the .dmg file that I save to my desktop and then there is the app icon, and then there is that little white rectangular box that shows up on the desktop when I am using it. It's like it's treating the app as hardware or something that can be ejected. Before I now it my desktop is cluttered with a bunch of these white boxes, app icons, and .dmg files. Anyone have any instructions as to how to manage my apps? Can I delete the .dmg file once i've installed the app? If not, where should I save it? What do I drag to Applications in the finder? the app icon, the white rectangular box, the .dmg file? Anyone know what i'm talking about? I just want to be able to go to my applications file, find the app icon and open it without having to worry about anything else showing up on my desktop. Thanks.
OK, the .dmg is a disc image. When this is mounted you get 'that little white rectangular box'.
When you open the mounted disc (that little white rectangular box) you will find all the files and .app application that you wanted. Copy these to your applications folder or anywhere else you want to put them then simply move 'that little white rectangular box' and .dmg to the trash. Job done.
Hope this makes sense

So I am not sure what is going on?
Anyone have similar situation?
what did u do to get Safari working again for you?
thanksIf you're running 19.7.4, then you're installation is hosed. Safari 5.1.7 is what ships with that version. If you failed to save the ill-designed installer, then you'll have to waste resources installing again (necessitates DLing the entire 3.6+ GB monstrosity).

I have been trying for hours to extend my Extreme Gen 5 network with an Express Gen 2. But no matter what I do or try, it doesn't work. What does happen is my internet gets blocked somehow when the Express is online and looks like it's set up perfect and 'green' - but no internet connection for anything even though the Extreme is green and the modem is good. Once I disconnect the Express, everything is good again.
I've tried LAN, WAN, though a switch, direct connect, Extreme set to Extend the network, the Express set to be an extension. Most of the time I get an error trying to update the Express. But when it seems to be set up perfect, the entire house can't get to the internet. Just when it looks right, it is so wrong.
If anyone can give me exact steps (e.g., "...from the Base Station menu, select the Restore Default Setting option" vice "...just restore the defaults..."), I would greatly appreciate it. I'm left to the conclusion that the Express is faulty. I've been using Airport Utility 6.2 from Mountain Lion on one computer and Airport Utility 5.6.1 from Snow Leopard on another computer (the latter give more control while the former just want you to 'forget' the Express).I finally got it working. I was trying to set it up ethernet. My biggest mistake was when the new Express came on, I did not select 'Continue' - I went straight to manual thinking that I would get the most setup options in manual mode. So everything I initially tried always resulted in 'wireless'. Even when I would update or restore default settings, the Express would not completely restart. Or sometimes I would get an error. So most of the time I had to unplug it. So when it came back up, none of my changes were retained. But there were a lot of times when everything was green and appeared to be fine. But anytime the ethernet cable was plugged in, no more internet.
So here's the weird part. When I finally tried 'continue' (vice manual), I would get 4 options. One would be 'ethernet' extended. So I would select it, it gave me green lights, all looked good, and still the same problem. This is when I got frustrated. I thought I had exhausted all possible combinations.
But somehow when trying continue again after another restore, I only got 3 options. One was the same ethernet extended option (can't remember what the missing 4th one was). And this time it worked - it gave me the big green circle with the checkmark saying it was successful. I don't know what I did different, but I know now that it won't work if 4 options come up to choose from. It will work if only 3 options come up. And success if only verified by the big checkmark. Had anyone anywhere said the checkmark declaring success is validation, then maybe I wouldn't have gone down so many rabbit holes thinking it should have been successful.
As for which Airport Utility I prefer, 6.2 looks nice, but it would just ignore the Express and would want me to 'forget' it and would not let me edit it. Airport Utility 5.6.1 was the one that I ended up using the most and finally had success with. It still strikes me as odd that there is no manually way to pick ethernet, it can only be choosen following a 'restore defaults', and only from the 3-option list (the 4-option list had the same ethernet choice, but it no worky).
Thanks for the response. I really do appreciate it.
Aiport Extreme Gen5 - internet access and router
Airport Express Gen2 - connected via ethernet, extending my wireless
- configured while connect directly to the Extreme, but now on a switch (16-port hub)
Using Airport 5.6.1
1) Restore Defaults from Base Station menu
2) Following restart, Select Continue
3) Of the 3 option presented, select 'ethernet.... extend network...'
- if 4 options are present, may not work
4) Wait for the green circle with the big white checkmark.
5) Connected Express to the switch where a cable went to other end of house - works.
Dead-zone went from 2mbps to 24mbps.
I probably spent 4 hours chasing my tail in anger. The correct way took about 5 minutes total.
Thanks again. -
When I try to open some pictures in finder with preview I get a message that I do not have permission to open it. It tells me to go to file - info. Don't know what to do from there.
When you do Get Info for a picture, what does it say in Sharing & Permissions for your username. The Privilege should be "Read & Write"

I have a 8 slot PXI system with 2 NI PXI 6508 and 1 DMM 4070 in it. I want to get started with programming the digital I/O cards (6508)! How can I use this cards with LabView 7?what is the best way to get started, or where can I get examples showing how to use the several channels?
Thanks!
PhilippPhilipp,
The best way to get started is to decide if you want to use traditional NI-DAQ or NI-DAQmx. Recently we released NI-DAQ 7.1 which provides NI-DAQmx support for the PXI-6508. In my opinion, NI-DAQmx is more efficient and much easier to use.
To get started with examples, simply launch LabVIEW and go to Help>>Find Examples. Then expand Hardware Input and Output>>DAQmx and select the appropriate digital group for your application. This should help get you started.
Please repost if you need addition assistance. Good luck with your application! -
I'm trying to download the latest version of iTunes and get the message "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run." I have no clue what to do with this to resolve the issue. Thanks for any help!
Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
START > CONTROL PANEL/ > Add n Remove Programs, highlight ASU and click CHANGE then REPAIR
