What to do with the Free BO Edge download - where do i go from here ?

dear all, i am an SAP ABAPer for years. I would like to get into BO.
I have downloaded and installed, successfully the free BO Edge Trial.
Now i sit in front of my laptop looking at it, wondering what to read, to get me started.
i prefer hands on exercises.
i realize the Edge trial does not link to SAP, so where do i go from here.
i would just like to get to play with the tools inside Edge, and perform some very basic "Hello World" type functionaltiy.
Maybe link BO Edge to an Excel spreadsheet ?
anything that can make use of the Edge Free trial.

I have an error with the hpe363xa instrument driver. Where do I go from here?

I have the latest versions of labview, max, gpib, ivi engine,... I downloaded the hpe363xa driver (for Agilent E3633A power supply). MAX configured the gpib ok (can communicate with instrument and gpib tests run ok). When I run the hpe363xa Getting Started.vi (only changed the Resource Name to match instruments gpib address) I get the following error message:
Error -1074135024 occurred at hpe363xa Configure Current Limit.vi
Possible reasons:
Driver Status: (Hex 0xBFFA0010) Invalid value.
Secondary Error (Hex 0xBFFC0004) Parameter 4 out of range, or error occurred while setting Parameter 4.

This error o
ccurs in the call to hpe363xa_ConfigureCurrentLimit(); in the DLL. The current limit value is ok right up to the function call vi (calls the c function in the DLL), so presumably the "error occurred while setting Paramter 4", whatever that means.
A possibly related issue is that even though I have IVI installed and it shows up under My System\Software in the configuration tree, there is no My System\IVI in the configuration tree (like MAX and other documentation implies there should be). I tried re-installing IVI, but did not try re-installing MAX.

Just back from holiday and spotted your question.
I had a similar problem a while back and resolved it with some modifications to the IVI example with IDT 1.1. ( IviDCPwr [MSR] - Output DC Volts.vi ).
Attached is my vi. This vi is intended to run with a sperate Initialise.vi and close vi but as you will see the initialise and close are encased in case statements.
The VI is labVIEW 5.1.1, IVI IDT 1.1 library.

What is wrong with the new operating system download?

When I try to download the new operating system it fails every time. I get all the way to the end of the download and a screen pops up that says my internet connection failed. It's connected 100% though

no error code is given, it gets to the very end of downloading it (so obviously the internet is connected and working perfectly). then when it tries to process the file it says, "Network Connection Timed Out"... every single time!!!!!!

New Xserve in the rack....where do I go from here?

Well, our shiny new (and unexpectedly deep and heavy) Xserve arrived this morning, and has been installed in the rack cabinet at our new premises. I think I need help knowing where to go from here on a couple of points.....
I've been wading through pages of PDF manuals, support pages and forums posts and – to be honest – my head's in a mess!! I'm hoping some of you nice folks out there (Camelot provided some very useful advice in previous posts) could offer me some direction, so I can work out what I need to work out, and understand what I'm doing so I can get this beast up and running.
Having also bought a couple of Netgear GS724T switches, I had planned to setup a 4gbps trunk between the Xserve and the first switch (with a second 4gbps connection between the switches). We will use an Airport Extreme Base Station as our DHCP server, and I will likely assign static IPs to both the switches whilst configuring them for trunk operation. Things are slightly complicated by the fact that our new BT Versatility installation already appears to have a 4-port wireless router bolted on, but I think we can effectively bypass this straight to the AEBS....
In order to use link aggregation (i.e. the 4gbps connection to the Xserve), will I need to configure Server first using only 1 ethernet connection? Can I do this 'headless' – I have installed all the Admin Tools (and documentation!!) on my MacBook Pro.... Also, can I even use link aggregation in a 'basic' Standard Server configuration, or will I need to use Advanced?
We choose to purchase 3x 300Gb 15k SAS drives and therefore also have the RAID card installed. My understanding is that the Server software will be installed in drive 1 (left hand bay), and simply needs 'configured' (did I say 'simply'??!). I also believe I could – without re-installing the OS – changed the setup to RAID5 if I wanted to. I think I need to do this using Disk Utility whilst the Xserve is booted via the install DVD – correct? Can I setup disk mirroring without re-installing, and is the process the same (i.e. boot from DVD, change the setup, re-boot)?
We run Filemaker Server, and I wondered which initial setup option would be optimal – NO raid, with the OS on one drive, and the database file(s) on another; or one big RAID5 volume with everything on it? I guess with 3 internal drives, we could go for a single drive (OS) plus a 2-drive RAID for files (either mirrored or striped for speed). If we bolt on a couple of 500Gb Firewire drives which we have 'spare' that would allow for backups of both volumes.....?
Putting everything into consideration, I want to take 'baby steps' with the setup, until I get my head round everything. Initially, all we need is Filemaker and remote access to our databases (through VPN I guess), although I want to add web/mail/iCal etc..etc.. once we've settled into the new offices.
The whole DNS thing scares me a bit. I can arrange reverse DNS with BT, and point our domain (via FastHosts) to our public IP address so we can run our own Web and Email server. I'm just not convinced this won't be a security vulnerability.....
I'm a long time Mac user, but I've never used Server, and I rarely use Terminal. This new Xserve venture is exciting, but it also feels a bit un-nerving.... and advice, input and further reading suggestions would be gratefully received!

Ahh, setting up Link Aggregation while headless is always a concern since it will affect the network connection you're using to administer the box. It is possible to do, it just takes some planning. If you can, configure the link over the serial port using networksetup, or put a monitor on the server temporarily.

I believe so - 'basic' vs. 'Advanced' only controls the set of services that are run and simplifies the admin interface somewhat. I don't think it has any effect on the underlying network setup but I might be wrong (I've never used anything but advanced).

No, that is not possible. Converting to RAID 5 will destroy the current config and reformat the drives. You can migrate to a RAID 1 or RAID 0 array, but not to RAID 5.

For simple mirroring you can use RAID Admin's Migrate option to migrate the current single drive to a new mirror on the other two drives. The you can re-use the original drive.

In general, RAID 5 is not recommended for database use - or any other use that requires a lot of random writes, although it does depend on volume - if your traffic is sufficiently light it might not be an issue.
Other than that, for most people the data is most important, so that should be mirrored. It's reasonably easy to reinstall the OS (at least compared to rebuilding all your data.

To start, focus on the disks. Everything else (applications, services, network, etc.) can be reworked easily later on. Not so with the disks.

Use BT for your public DNS for sure, but you'll definitely benefit from having working internal DNS, and that's pretty easy to manage, at least for small networks.

You can use anything you like. You can use ourcompany.com - the same as your public domain, but just have to realize that 'server.ourcompany.com' may mean different things depending on whether you're inside your network querying your own DNS server, or external querying BTs (BT will return 12.34.56.78 while your internal DNS would return the 192.168.100.x address).

If you're running your own internal DNS then no, not at all.
You only need to involve BT for any externally-available hostnames (and they don't even have to match your internal names - it's fine to have 'server.domain.com' on your internal DNS but no 'server.domain.com' in your public DNS, it just means no one can get to 'server.domain.com' from outside your network.
Filemaker recommends you use the scheduling facility in FMServer for backups, and not system backups
This is absolutely the case - it's hard to make backups of active/open files, especially databases. Any backup takes time - you read the first byte at time 0, but might not get to the last byte until several minutes later - and you have to consider what happens to changes in between (some may be backed up if they happened before the backup reached that part of the file, others might not, leading to an inconsistent file).
Filemaker's backup method ensures you have a valid backup of the data.
I'm now thinking that mirroring the OS on drive 2 might be a good idea, whilst storing Filemaker files in a 'Databases' folder on drive 3 (which is backed up my FMServer schedule). Other 'Shared' folder(s) on drive 3 could be backed up via Time Machine to an external FW800 drive......
This really depends on the frequency of change in your database. If it's mostly reads and not many inserts/updates, then reverting to yesterdays backup might not be a problem, but if your data changes constantly it might not be as good.

I could not get Best Buy's link to work, but Besy Buy sells them also. It is not hard to find it - go to Best Buy's website, on the side go to Audio and MP3, then go to Ipod and MP3 players, and search all of them, find it, and click on it, scroll down to the tabs with different information on them, click "specifications", and scroll to see what comes with it.

Express Edition has limits on the number of CPUs it'll utilize (it essentially forces itself to run single-threaded), amount of RAM it'll utilize and amount of data it will store. It is missing many of the higher level security and maintenance features you would find if you wanted to be highly available.
The downloadable version of Enterprise Edition is missing none of these, however the license states that you can only use the that version for development purposes.
I suspect you can also use the downloadable version to educate yourself on how the various features work, but it doesn't specifically say that in the license and I'm not a license expert.

I have no idea what to do with the payments for stuff I bought on iTunes.

Ok I had a card from a rebate atatched to the account and it has just expired. Now itunes wants me to pay from a different card for the things I bought in the week before it expired. I had the amount needed to pay for what i bought on the rebate card and bought my last thing before the card expired because i thought it would be stupid to let the money go without actually using it. The rebate card that my mom let me use was after they had bought a new phone and try had let me have what was left on it 7.92 and it counted as a visa credit card so I could use it to activate my account the problem is that I bought the stuff before it expired and it is now expired and it's sayin I still need to pay for what I bought with the old card and I don't want to pay twice for the same things that's just stupid I'm goin to get a gift card for the lowest amount so I can still get the free stuff but I don't think I should be responsible to pay for something thy I bought with a card that had the money on it for them to charge bc they debt send out the bill to them when I got the stuff bc there is stuff on it for like Monday saying I need to pay for it when the card didn't even expire till Thursday night

I need to provide my code, as a Flex Project, to someone without Flex Builder. They would then need to make simple edits to CSS as well as swap some images, then compile the swf.
How is this process done with the free Flex 3.3 SDK?

If you're on Windows you can compile a Flex project using MXMLC via the Command Prompt.
1. Change to your bin directory of the SDK:
cd C:/builds/flex3/bin/
2. Run MXMLC on your main application file:
mxmlc "C:/flex/mainApplication.mxml"
If you have any additional compiler arguments you will want to add them there as well.

I found the following that goes over troubleshooting the same issue for the iPhone. I know you have an iPad, but the steps should still apply:
Perform the following steps:
Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

the error when i run the code is like that:

I do not find any problem using the same ports for local and destination address with several unicasts. My problems are others.
But note that the error is even at constructing the localAddress, I mean before trying the destinationAddress. Thus the reason cannot be the former is already in use. In fact I think the later belongs to a remote hosts. Likely, it is trying to access the destinationAddress through the localAddress, but this has not been constructed properly.

Léon Hoeneveld's response works for me. You will need to download a tool that allows you to edit the WSDL and reorder the values.
I've used a freeware tool like notepad++ collapsed all the levels and opened up the <wsdl:definitions xmlns:wsdl... segment and reordered the subgroups beneath it accordingly.
