What to get for University? Please Help!
Hello all!
Alright, well. I am just about to start my last year in highschool before I'm off to university,
and of course, I'm going to need a laptop.
I currently have a HP G62. Thinking it would be alright, however the battery life is terrible.
(So I am now selling on eBay)
It lasts about 2-3 hours on a single full charge (WITHOUT) Wi-fi turned on. And brightness on lowest.
This is of course ridiculous, as I won't be able to use it for a whole day of classes in future.
So, for the first time in my life I am going to buy from Apple.
I was thinking of getting a Macbook Pro 15" 2.0 Ghz, and hoping to get $100.00 off with my Mums education pricing.
Approximiately, how many years would this laptop last me without having to replace anything? (Except for Battery)
Please note I am a protection freak, and would use every protection known to 'Zagg.com' to protect my laptop.
Would it last five years? Eight years?
Could really do with your help guys.

My opinion on this is, people come onto these support forums to write about the problems they are having, they don't come on here to write about how good things are. Therefore, most of what you read will be negative.
I have personally set up two machines with Lion and both have worked perfectly since.
I have two friends who work as support techs and both support over 100 machines running lion and they both love it. It can't be all bad.
My personal opinon of Lion, is that it is very intuitive and designed for increased productivity, which is what i'm achieving.
I would love to see a poll of users to see who is having sucess and who isn't.

No matter what I get an Error PLEASE HELP
Ok I have and iPhone 4 I am trying to fix and have literally tried everything and no matter what I have tried nothing seems to work. Please help I will list thing's I've done. My iPhone is in Loop mode only when I plug it in to wall or computer or else does nothing but battery is working perfect. Got unplugged while updating now this.
-Deleted Host file apple lines, changed file lines, downloaded new host.
-Ran iReb, Tiny Umbrella, Snowbreeze, Redsnow
-Restarted my computer, deleted all Windows security forms that I can think of
-Checked to make sure everything was up to date
-Shift clicked Restore and tried restoring to 5.1.1 and then tried again with TSS server running
I have tried all these steps and no matter what I get an error. I am running windows 8 but have also tried on windows 7 my iTunes reconizes the phone and the phone goes into DFU mode and Pwned DFU mode it starts and says "Preparing to restore iphone, Checking with apple about restore and the I get an error.1. DISABLE ALL security software (firewall, antivirus, etc.) running on your PC while updating.
2. This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection. -
My Reminder app won't open In ipad mini 2. It worked for a few days but later on it didn't work anymore! tried rebooting and updating it but it still wont open. When I try opening it, it crashes. What do I doooo? Please help me.
Try to force quit the app
Double tap the home button. When you see the app previews on the screen scroll sideways if needed to get the preview in question on the screen. Flick that preview up and off the screen to close the app. Single tap the home button or home screen preview to exit the mode. -

Hi wdriver,
It seems like due to some unknown reason permission from the Licensing folder is removed. Please try launching any of the apps by right clicking and select Run as an Administrator, it should fix the issue by doing that.

AppleID and passcode used to activate the iPad or it will be useless to you.
There is no workaround.
Suggest you try very hard to remember that AppleID and passcode. Did you try the
AppleId you used to log into this forum?

I have an iTouch. I'd like to download some free apps. but I have a debit card but would like to download apps from the store. how do I do that? I can't possibly get a credit card just for this. please help.I really do not think it is the iPad or your network connection. Other users have reported this very same issue. Try this and see if it works for you - it may not work - but it's easy to try - harmless - and it has worked in the past for others.
Try signing out of your account and restart your iPad.
Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID and tap the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. Go back to Settings>Store> Apple ID and sign in again. -

Logging into itunes Store - Failed
Logging into iTunes Genius - SUCCESS I woulnd't have thought it would make a difference but it does Then just log into the 'other' services with iTunes.

You can try taking the iPad to an authorized service center in the Philippines:

but since the iPad sold in the UAE is specific to that country (the government there requires that Facetime be blocked), a Philippine service center may not be able to service your iPad. You can ask though. If they cannot help, then you would probably need to send the iPad back to the UAE for service.

If you bought it the Mac App Store it shouldn't be asking for a serial number.
If you bought from the Apple Site with your web browser disregard these instructions.
What I would try:
Move Aperture (the application) from the Applications folder to the Desktop.
Log into the MAS using the same Apple ID you used to originally purchase Aperture.
Do a fresh download and install
If Aperture works now trash the version you moved to the Desktop.
