What to install newbie

Hi!
I've been using oracle for a long time but i've never install any of their product. Next week i'm moving to a new company and they want to install an oracle server to run a database for some website.
So what i want to know is what will i need to install to be able to do this. I know that i'll need Database 10g but for the server what do i have to install. HTTP server?
Also i would like to know if they are some documentations that you recommend me to read (administrator, server, etc..) I've printed the document Install Database 10g and also days 2 days DBA. Will i need to check others?

When you install Oracle 10G, use the Companion CD to install Apache HTTP server, and also Oracle HTML DB (if you want to use this for the web).

i have an working oracle on linux now all i have to do is write an occi app under windows which will work with it - so i have a question what do i have to have installed under windows to write this app, and what parts of oracle do i have to install to run them - it's important to me that it would be the minimal set of oracle stuff installed on win clients.

At a minimum you need to install the Oracle Client and the OCCI libaries. I think these are included in the "Programmer" install option for the Oracle Windows client.

There is no need for anyone to use 32-bit version anymore.
Retail comes with both. Or you can save on just buying 64-bit System Builder disc.
Better support for today's hardware with larger video graphic memory and systems.

You usually just use a Browser as far as I Know. There should be buttons on the page where you edit your ad text that will open a Dialog Box for you to specify what file to send.

You need to either reload a compatible version of it from an iTunes library which contains it, or sell the iPhone and put the money towards a newer device. An iPhone 3G can't be updated past 4.2.1.

What to install on my windows desktop

I recently got an iPad and would a recommendation for what to install on my windows desktop to best take advantage of the iPad.
I have a fairly large MP3 collection (no itunes), but do not want to use the iPad for Music.
If you can include a description of why you are recommending something it would be most appreciated.
I don't want to install a bunch of stuff that runs services I'll never or rarely use, as well as autostart a bunch of stuff that really doesn't need to be running all the time.

I'm not sure what it is you wish to accomplish. If you wish to sync from your computer directly to and from your iPad, you will need iTunes. That's the vehicle for direct synchronization of any content to and from your computer. You can synchronize some things via Apple's iCloud service:

but what it will sync, particularly in terms of documents, is limited. There are other on-line services that can allow more general document synchronization, such as Dropbox, but they're mostly limited to documents.
If you'll clarify what it is you wish to do, or how you wish your iPad and your computer to be able to cooperate, we can probably offer more specific advice.

What is 'install Xcode' vs. xcode for leopard dmg?

I just downloaded and installed xcode 4.1 for Snow Leopard.
I noticed that I have "Install Xcode" in my Application folder (4.66gb),
in addition to the downloaded 4.1 dmg and 3.2.2 dmg and 3.2.5 dmg files.
What is "Install xcode" ?
I thought the dmg files are the installation packages - why do I need "Install xcode" ?

"install xcode" in the Applications folder is the same as the installer dmg files?
Which would mean that I could delete any/all of them (after installing the version I need) with no loss?

Since you have another Mac, you could share it's DVD drive in System Preferences > Sharing.
Then use Remote Disc found on the MBair's finder's sidebar. This will mount the DVD in your old Mac to the MBair.

miraculous...i downloaded quicktime player from apple website and then i run it.upon double click on this quick time player and then i double clicked on itunes...there comes an enry of itunes software...now i am completely enjoying my musics.photos in smart phone.

I have a question concerning the SAP OKP Courses.
You need to install player software to participate in a course.
But using the "Technical Requirements" Link ( https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700002692102003E ) it's not clear what to install.
The "InterWise Virtual Classroom Player (Participant Application)" link takes you to AT&T where there is no "Virtual Classroom Player" available, only a "Windows Participant Application"?
The "WebEx Player" takes you to a link where you can download a WRF and ARF Player and the button on the bottom of the page suggests both have to be purchased?
Can somebody tell me, what to install or where to find the right software?

I'm looking forward to installing the new ODAC and Developer tools. But what gets installed where?
1) I assume the developer will need the Developer Tools plus ODAC on his client machine. My developers use both Oracle Express databases and Oracle EE databases on Unix servers. Do they need a separate Oracle Home for the Oracle Express client? Is it instaled in the Oracle Home for the Oracle Express database itself or it's own home?
2) What, if anything gets installed on the Biztalk server? Plain Oracle client or Oracle Client plus ODAC?
3) My Windows machines have ASO-enabled clients already. Should the ODAC be installed there if I want to connect to ASO-enabled databases?
4) Is anything required for the user of the application other than the .Net runtime?

ODAC stands for Oracle Data Access Components and Oracle Developer Tools is one of the components. The install lists all the components and you can choose one or more from the list.
Developer would have to install the appropriate components from the ODAC install. ODAC install is available only for Windows platforms so these components cannot be installed on Unix servers. ODAC install also cannot be used to install components in Oracle Express Home. You can install ODAC components in an existing Oracle 10gR2 Home or in a new Oracle Home.
You need ODP.NET runtime in addition to .NET runtime to run ODP.NET applications. ODP.NET runtime is nothing but ODP.NET component in the ODAC install.
