What to shut off on iPhone 3G ,in Canada for a few days!
Sorry if this is old hat...but my daughter spent a week in Santorini and despite doing everything Apple suggested, she still got a hundred bucks in extra data charges. It took abit but she got AT@T to drop about half of the charges. My wife and I are going to be in Ireland in September and we are going to rent a basic phone. Too scared to bring our iPhones...so back to Canada, What do I shut off or limit? Thanks, Bill
If you turn data roaming off in Settings, it is next to impossible to incur any costs. Your daughter must have mistakenly turned it back on.

Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an appears. This should take about 8 seconds, and it reboots the phone. If it doesn't something is seriously trashed in your iPhone's memory.
You can then try a forced restore. Restart your computer, launch iTunes, put the iPhone in the cradle and hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons for a long time (20 seconds). This puts the phone in Recovery mode, and it should prompt you to restore the phone. -

Thank you for your reply, I did go to my general settings, but for some odd reason I don't have a restrictions setting, or a reset setting. I thought I could reset all the setting to see if it could be that, but as I said there aren't any.
My husband also has the iPad 2, and also did the software update and hasn't had any problems at all. I took both iPad's and compared the settings thinking maybe there could be a setting that could have been changed when the update was done. -

Try to force quit the app
Double tap the home button. When you see the app previews on the screen scroll sideways if needed to get the preview in question on the screen. Flick that preview up and off the screen to close the app. Single tap the home button or home screen preview to exit the mode. -

I have restored it and loaded the backed up material again. But this problem doesnt seem to go away. First I backed everything up, then restored as a new phone, and then i couldn't see the contacts, the contacts were not restored when i restored as a new phone. So in order to get the contacts I restored from the backup but then the same problem happened again.
What I meant to saw was that the probelm disappeared when i restored as a new phone, but it reappeared when i restored from the backup. So is there a way to just somehow get the old contacts when the phone is restored as a new phone. All I need from the current phone is the contacts to be there when I retore as a new phone.

when syncing my iphone with my Outlook calendar, a few days appointments didn't show in my iphone calendar, but other days did. The appointments show in my outlook calendar. I have done this many times, and this is the first time I have had this kind of trouble. Any idea what has caused these appointments to not show?

Not a question. A comment actually. Regarding the persistent blue autofill box that may appear in Safari, my wife shut down the iMac then unplugged it for a few minutes. On restarting, the box was gone.
