What to use for simple page layout?

I am looking to switch my company from window's machines to macs. I have been using a mac for around a year and love it. The only program that I can not seem to find an equal substitute for on the mac platform is MS Publisher. This is shocking to me and maybe I am missing something obvious since Publisher is not all the impressive of a program. What I am looking for is a simple flyer creating program. The users needs a simple to use program that they can create a monthly calendar and some simple flyers.
What I have looked at so far:
Pages - This is really more word processing than page layout. Not easy to drag photos around and no calendar template.
InDesign - Way to complex for my average user.
Appleworks - Seems like this is a left over from the days of mac past.
Ragtime - Price. At $650 a little more than I am look to spend to create a few flyers a month.
So I was wondering what do people use for page layout?

Ooh. This is an easy one.
Pages is ferociously easy for dragging images around. I use it for promo cards and have done one flyer on it. But I've done lots of documents with images, including a book with about 70 illustrations. Pages comes with six attractive newsletter templates. More may be available at iworkcommunity.com and/or in the future. The "styles" feature (once you understand it) makes it really easy to format a newlsetter and control size and spacing of text to make it fit on a given page, in a given column, etc.
InDesign I don't know, but I'll take your word that it's complex for your average users. Appleworks isn't pretty (poor font smoothing on screen) and I never really understood it. Ragtime for $650 would violate my tightwad business sense for "a few flyers a month".

What to use for the events of 2 keys pressed simultaneously?

Question:
What to use for the events of 2 keys pressed simultaneously? As the key listener has limited functionality, in this case, I need something that can act to two events (see below)
Goal
1. A user presses right and up at the same time
2. Program responds to this event changing BOTH the vertical and horizontal speeds of the player
Problem
I currently have a key listener to do this, using key pressed, however, it only acts to up OR right at one point in time. So the user can only increase his or her vertical speed; or horizontal speed at one point in time. Instead of increasing them both.

CUSTOMER HIERARCHY:
Customer hierarchies are available in Sales and Distribution, so that you can create flexible hierarchies to reflect the structure of customer organizations. If your customer base includes multi-level buying groups, cooperatives, or chains of retail outlets, for example, you can create hierarchies to reflect the structure of these groups. Use customer hierarchies during sales order processing and billing for determining pricing and running statistics.
 A customer hierarchy consists of nodes.
 To create a customer hierarchy:
1. Create master records for each node.
2. Assign the nodes to each other.
3. Assign the customer master records to the relevant nodes.
 Hierarchy nodes are only valid for a certain period of time. They may also be moved. If a node is moved, the system automatically reassigns all related nodes and customer master records.
With customer hierarchies, you can assign price or rebate agreements to a higher level node. The agreements are then valid for customers at all subordinate levels to this node. You can create pricing condition records for each node indicated as relevant for pricing. If one or more nodes in the hierarchy path of a sales order contain pricing information, the system takes them into account automatically during pricing.

1) Define hierarchy type: just put and ID and a name to the new hierarchy.
2) Set partner determination: if you want to user the hierarchy in price determination, then, in the orders, at the header level, you have to have a Partner Procedure with a partner function for each level. In the partner procedure, in each partner function you must indicate the source partner function. With this information, in the order, you obtain the business partner for each partner function.
3) Assign account groups: you indicate which accounts groups are allowed for being part or your hierarchy.
4) Assign sales areas: simple you indicate which sales areas are allowed in your hierarchy. (Here you can customize common sales areas, just for not having to build de hierarchy in all the different sales areas).
5) Assigning hierarchy type for pricing: you indicate which classes of documents uses hierarchy in pricing determination.
It is possible to maintain so called customer hierarchies. This might be useful when for example you create a condition discount for a customer that is part of such a hierarchy structure. All subnodes in the hierarchy below that customer, will thus receive the same discount.
Customer hierarchy setup, firstly decide the hierarchy type to be used.
The standard is type A.
You can also assign a partner function to the customer so that the higher level customer in the hierarchy is copied into a sales order as a partner function - but you don't need that right?
Next assign your customer account group to the hierarchy type. And enter the combinations that will be allowed for creating the hierarchy.
You want to assign a ship-to to a payer. So enter the ship to account group and enter the payer account group as the higher level.
You must also make an entry for permitted sales area assignments. So if you want to a hierarchy for customers in the same sales area then enter the sales area and enter the same one as the higher level sales area.
All these settings can be found in the IMG. Under SD - master data - business partners - customers - customer hierarchy
You use for example customer hierarchy when you have an company like Unilever and you agree both on a discount. Unilever does have different locations / businesses and you have to maintain the discount for all customers. If you use a customer hierarchy you can maintain the discount for the partner in the top of the hierarchy and in this way it will be valid for all customers in the hierarchy.

The window title attribute for the page layout region has not been set

Hi, I am a newbie to OA Framework extensions. Could you please advise me how to get rid of below error ?
"The window title attribute for the page layout region has not been set. This attribute value will be used for the browser window title and should be set according to the UI standards. A default window title will be displayed for all such pages that violate the standards. Action: Set the window title or title attribute for the page layout region. The title attribute is used as a secondary source for the window title if the window title is missing."
My requirement is to extend a VO and almost done with that but when i run the PG ( HomePG.xml ) file to ensure everything is fine , The target page is being displayed with above error. Just to let you know that i have already set the Titile and Window Title attributes for the HomePG.xml region i.e PageLayoutRN.
One more thing i would like to share is that i was set the Window Title to 'Oracle Applications Home Page' , but target page name is being displayed as 'Oracle Applications'.
Any suggestions ??

It is used for a variety of things, including disk repair (if the data structures that keep track of data on the disk get corrupted), repair of permissions on the system files if they get messed up, erasing and partitioning disks, etc. As Linc points out, Disk Utility's help can give you all the details. Note that some things cannot be done to the system drive unless you start up from a different drive.
Also, note that if you're asking because you're deleting apps that you don't use, you really shouldn't do that with the preinstalled Apple apps, even if you think you don't have a use for them. Sometimes deleting them can have unexpected side effects, and you never know when you might need such an app.

I've got an external java JMS client trying to connect to Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 2005Q1 and I need to know what to use for the Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY (and what jar it's in) plus the PROVIDER_URL for the following code:

I experienced similar problems while trying to create a Message Driven Bean
and send a message to it from a standalone client program.
After much guddling around (and finally finding some helpful information in
the App Servers Troubleshooting Guide) I managed to get this to work by doing
the following:
     1) Including the following jars at client compile time:
          appserv-rt.jar
          j2ee.jar
     2) Including the following jars at client run time:
          appserv-rt.jar
          j2ee.jar
          appserv-admin.jar
          imqjmsra.jar
     3) Passing in the following arguments at client run time:
          -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost=localhost
          -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialPort=3700
     4) Creating the context using the no-arg InitialContext method � i.e.
          Context ctx = new InitialContext();
     Note that this method picks up the initial context factory
     as com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactory from
     a jndi.properties file in appserv-rt.jar.

Fireworks or Indesign for web page layout?

Hi, I've currently ordered CS3 Web Premium and it won't ship
until tomarrow, and I don't know whether I should cancel it and get
the Design Premium instead.
It all depends on whether Fireworks is a must have for web
page design. Does it offer anything invaluable that I need that
Photoshop Cs3 won't already fill? I saw the tour for InDesign and
was impressed how you can create amazing page layouts and how you
can export them to XHTML.
I probably won't be using Adobe Contribute as I prefer making
my own WYSIWYG editor in asp.net for my webpages, because I don't
want to buy a new license of Contribute for every web page I make
for a different client, so the choice of whether I should leave Web
Premium and get Design Premium rest on whether Fireworks is more
useful for webpage design and whether creating web page layouts
with InDesign is worth paying the extra money for (I don't mind
using it to create computer software manuals as well).
I appreciate any input on this matter. :)

What to use for web tier? JSP vs. UIX vs. uiXML

Hi all,
I am looking at the various options for rapid development using JDev. The target application is a standard web based app accessing an Oracle DB. It looks like BC4J is the way to go for the business & persistence layers. My question now is what should I use for the front-end? I am keen to start with a wizard of some sort and drop to code level (of whatever type) when required. But for starters I can see at least 4 options:
- JSP for BC4J
- Strut-Based JSP for BC4J
- UIX JSP for BC4J
- uiXML for BC4J
All seem to generate (1st pass) something useful and appear to have a multitude of other virtues. But I'm sure some are better than others...Can anyone give some clear advice on these choices?

The ToyStore application seems "clearly" MVC architected, but it is unclear how much of that is accomplished via Wizards or other JDeveloper 'supporting technologies'The MVC comes automatically by using Struts. So this has nothing to do with wizards.
....or if the bulk of the application is hand-coded, and then packaged into Jdev projects etc. For example, are the JSP pages written from a Wizard skeleton, or from scratch? How about the struts-config.xml and struts action classes?I think ToyStore has large handcoded Parts. The wizard generated JSP skeleton does not really help you (except I you like to save to work of adding the "body" tag ;-) ). Same with struts-config and struts action classes. If your Application is a bit more complicated than a very simple "Show Data / Edit-Data - Application you will find you quickly writing your own actions / JSPs and so on. BTW: I do not think that this is really difficult..., once you have understood how.
The implication is that BC4J Wizards and Struts Wizards (Struts or "Struts based JSP for Business Components") are useful starting points, but we are at a loss about how to combine them effectively.Use the to understand the concept, but do not rely on them.
Is the primary utility of JDeveloper in BC4J Wizards?Some Wizards are really good and necessary (the simpler ones) and some are nice to give you some hints. JDeveloper will not write your application for you (and will not free you from reading a lot of documentation).

Dear Ashish,
BRBACKUP / BRARCHIVE calls the operating system command to copy the files.
Simple approach to get the commands is as follows.
1. Set the BR_TRACE (as given in the SAP note 29321) and run the command for which you need to know the OS / SQL commands.
2. This will generate the log file with the trace information. This trace has the information of the commands used by the job you have run.
