In the basic setup window, in the internet connection  type, choices are given for cable and dsl. As my connection is a wireless, I am looking for the best choice to use.
My connection speed varies from a low 250kbps to 1.5mbps. Clearwire suggusts the router my be causing the problems. They are seperated by about 4 1/2'. I also have a 1.9ghz cordless phone extension in the room. I am looking for the best configuration setup for the arrangment that I have.
Thanks

  • Surplusmeter - what type of connection do I have?

I have a high-speed internet "stick", it plugs into my USB port. My service provider (telus) has a 5GB monthly cap for data transfer. I've downloaded a free program called SurplusMeter, that monitors internet usage.
I don't have a router or anything else, just one computer.
I'm not sure what setting I should use in SurplusMeter where it asks what type of connection I have. The options are "PPP modem, ethernet port, airport, network card, adaptor"
what should I have it set to? any help would be much appreciated!

When in doubt, try them and see. Maybe start with adapter? Download a small file and see if it records the usage.

  • What type of connection should i use?

Not sure if i should i post this here or web tier api's, but here goes...
I have a servlet in a tomcat webserver and i want it pass information between it and a standard j2se application running on the same machine.
I'm not sure what type of connection i should use?
    DataStream?
    Socket?
    HttpConnection?
    Any other recommended method?
Or if i need a network connection like that at all?
    Thanks for the help

The most straightforward method would be to use rmi since both are running java. that is the least amount of work on your part in terms of managing connections and data marshalling. any of the other solutions add more burdens in one or both of these areas.

  • Determine the type of connection & set webcam width/height

    Hi, two quick questions:
    1. Is there a way in ActionScript to determine what type of connection is being used (e.g. P2P or FMS)?
    2. Is there a way to set the width/height of the webcam picture? I currently extend the WebcamPublisher class to access the _camera instance and use the Camera.setMode() method, but it looks like that doesn't have any effect whatsoever.
    Thanks in advance,
    Michiel
PS: I'm aware of the captureWidthHeightFactor method, but I really don't like that approach, as it's not really clear what dimensions are being used for the video. I would like to set the dimensions myself, like when using the Camera.setMode() method.

    Hironmay wrote:
For you height/width part, you can use resolutionFactor API in webcamPublisher as captureWidthHeight API is deprecated. The default width and height gets multiplied.
Ok, I'm using resolutionFactor now, but I'm not sure what the difference is. captureWidthHeightFactor is not really documented (it's there, but pretty unexplained), but the resolutionFactor uses multiples of the default width/height. I assume it does the exact same thing? (By the way: the resolutionFactor is not documenten on livedocs, only in the local documentation received as part of the zipped SDK.)
And still if you want to set your own native width/height , since you are already subclassing WebcamPublisher, just subclass the function createMyStream and add your native width and height. See that function in the player 9 source code of WebcamPublisher provided.
I'll look into that, for now resolutionFactor will have to do. (For testing purposes all video parameters have to be adjustable on the fly, and I unfortunately am already very short on time.)
One thing I forgot to mention in last mail, you can only have P2P with player 10 and you need to use player 10 swc for any verification of P2P. Player 9 will be always FMS.
You may have just saved my life! I was indeed using the player 9 swc, and tried the isP2P property, but didn't get it to work. And since it's not documented I labeled this as "deprecated" and dropped it. Great to see that it really is in there.
Also, the difference between the player 9 and player 10 swc you just explained answers another question I had (but totally forgot about). When connecting, the console always showed:
    #FMSConnector# Wed Jan 6 10:52:11 GMT+0100 2010 is using RTMPS? true
This gave me the idea that the P2P service was unavailable. I'm glad to see that this isn't the case.
Thanks for your rapid replies everyone, I really appreciate it!

No. Your iMac only has DVI video connection. You would need an iMac with Thunderbolt.

For the new airport extreme what type of cable do I need to connect to my cable modem. Is Cat5 OK or will that bottle neck things?

Assuming that your cable modem has Gigabit Ethernet ports (possible, but it probably does not) Cat 5e or Cct 6 would do the job that you need.
If the cable modem is using a 10/100 Mbps port, then Cat5 will be OK.

  • HT201180 What type of Fire Wire cable to use to connect MacBook Pro 2009 to tape-based Sony TRV720 camcorder

What type of Fire Wire cable to use to connect MacBook Pro 2009 to tape-based Sony TRV720 camcorder

USB is the slowest. Firewire is faster. eSata is the fastest (and will be superceded by Thunderbolt).  The old Fire was 4 pin (Firewire 400 and is essentially obsolete), new is 9 pin, Firewire 800.  All of the will transmit data, simply a different speeds.
For eSata connectivity, you MBP must have an express card slot (and the appropriate eSata connection card) and you external enclosure must have an eSata input.  eSata cables will only transmit data, therefor it will require power by Firewire or USB cables.
    Ciao.

  • What type of HBA to connect to a stor. arr 200??

    Hello,
we got a SPARCstorage Array Model 200.
I want to connect my Intel server (via FFDI) to this controller.
But what type of HBA am I to look for??
    wkr: Wilhelm Pieper

Sorry, you won't be able to connect an Sun Storage Array 200 to an Intel server. The array uses a Sun sbus HBA. It is commonly known as a SOC adaptor and is only available in sbus, so the array can only be connected to Sun sbus systems, not pci systems.

    HI
WHAT IS THE CONNECTION TYPE IN SRM RFC DESTINATION.
    3-R3 ....ETC.

    Hi,
depending on the application to connect to backend SRM system, your connection type may change.
    1. If you write Dynpro appliactions to use SRM System, at backend, it'll connect SRM via RFC.
    2. If you use ITS to create views of SRM Transactions, then the connection will be Dailog and URL

  • HT4259 I am trying to connect airport express to extend the range of my airport tower. What type of cords do I need to connect the airport express to a hardwired outlet in the wall of a bedroom?

I am trying to connect my airport express to extend the range of my network to a bedroom that is hard wired for internet. What type of cord/cords do I need to do that?

You can connect the AirPort Express to the wall port in the bedroom for the setup.....but first....if you have not already done so.....it would be a great idea to make sure that the connection in the bedroom is working correctly.
To do that, turn off the wireless on a laptop and connect the laptop directly to the wall port in the bedroom using an Ethernet cable. Make sure that the laptop can get a good Internet connection that way.  If it can, this tells you that the cabling is working correctly, so the Express will work well when you connect it up.
If you don't have a laptop with an Ethernet port, then we'll have to assume that the folks that pulled the cables and installed the jacks tested things as part of the installation.
When you are ready to install the Express, you can use an iPhone or iPad if you have one handy for the setup.

  • What  type of plug in do I need to use between weblogic and tomcat please

    Hi,
Can anybody please tell me what type of plugin do I need to install to communicate between Tomcat4.0 and weblogic6.1 sp2.actually I wanted to use a connection pool from my servlet on my local tomact where connection pool is created on remote weblogic server.........?
I have no idea what to do. I tried including the weblogic.jar in my local classpath where my tomcat is sitting. This didnot work . I got the following error......
I want to know is it possible.............?
javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory [Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory]
    Your response is very inportant......
    Thnaks

Thanks a lot for your rely....
then how could I use the remote connection pool in my
local Tomcat server.....?If thats is not possible then
what if organisation have two webservers...? you mean
thay have to create connection pool in two servers
rather on one server and use it every where.....?
Still depends on what you are trying to achieve.
Most clustered systesm use a connections on each server. They sync the data retrieved between servers, not the connections themselves.
If you simply one a single connection point then you need to use a driver that proxies requests to and from the real connection point.
    RmiJdbc is free at http://www.objectweb.org/.
There are commercial drivers available, search at http://industry.java.sun.com/products/jdbc/drivers, which provide an enterprise layer for database access. They are probably more robust and feature rich than the above one.
