What type of new harddisk to install (MacBook Late 2008)?
Hi,
I have a MacBook 13" Late 2008 (alu version) and would like to expand my hard disk memory.
What type of harddisk do i have to look for? Can I expand my memory up to 1TB? And is it preferably doing this myself rather than by a professional? Any tips?

You can but HD's are expensive right now due to monsoon flooding
in Indonesia and 1TB will be expensive. You might check newegg's
selection as they have very good, comprehensive and critical product
reviews. You might consider going to a 7200 RPM drive vs. your 5400.

Hey everyone, I am trying to figure out if have all the parts to replace my hdd with a new ssd on my macbook (late 2008 aluminum).
I just bought a crucial mx100 SSD and plan on replacing my mac HDD. I have the appropriate screwdrivers, and a bootable OSX on a usb drive. I also purchased a sabrent usb 2.0 to sata/ide hard drive adapter.
How do I replace and install OSX on my new SSD?
From what I read here are the steps I'm planning on taking.
1) Detach the old HDD
2) Attach new SSD.
3) Turn on computer and use the bootable usb drive to install OS X.
Does that work, I think I read somewhere about maybe formatting the SSD before I can use the bootable usb. Any input or help would be awesome. Thanks.

New harddrive on my macbook (late 2008)
I just purchased a macbook in very good condition. It had a failed hard drive so I replaced it. I tried installing snow leopard 10.6.3 with no luck. This is my first apple computer so disregard any ignorance I sincerely need help. I've tried partitioning like other forums have mentioned and going from that disk
But it installs halfway and then the installment fails. With out the partition I can't do anything. Do I need different software or a different edition? HELP!!!!No luck. Since the hard drive is new and wiped clean, do I need different software. Do they require a lower version? It will install Mac OS X snow leopard halfway then a screen will come up saying install failed and mention something about supported files. Do I need to install from a flash drive?

Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card in my aluminum 13-inch Macbook (Late 2008)?
My 13-inch Macbook (Late 2008) currently uses the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB graphics card, but I want to upgrade it, so that I can play games at a higher quality. Is this possible? If so, what graphics cards are compatible with my Macbook (Late 2008)?

How do I install Mavericks onto a new SSD HD in my late 2008 Macbook Pro, and then I hopefully can reinstall my data from my Time Machine backup?
I presume the SSD will need some type of formatting, before I can install Mavericks from the internet? Then can I use my Time Machine backup to reinstall all my other software and settings?In order to load Mavericks the SSD will have to be formatted Mac OS Extended with GUID partition mapping

Also can people recommend specific products that are compatible, what are my options?If you have a cable that connects and external HDD to the MBP, it will do. If it is something like this, an enclosure will not be needed for the swap:
An enclosure allows you to use your old HDD for storage or backup purposes. The cable will not.
Here are instructions as to how the swap can be performed using DISK UTITY. Substitute You cable for the enclosure in same:
INSTALLING A NEW HDD IN A MBP
1. Make certain that you have backed up all of your important data.
2. You will need a HDD enclosure. One with a USB connection will do. A 9 pin Firewire is better.
3. Install your new drive in the enclosure and connect it to your MBP.
4. Open DISK UTILITY>ERASE. From the left hand column drag the new drive into the 'Name' field. Make sure that the format is 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'. Click on the 'Erase' button.
5. Click on the 'Restore' button (on top). Drag the old drive into the 'Source' field and the new drive into the 'Destination' field. Click on the 'Restore' button on the bottom right hand corner.
Depending upon the amount of data you are transferring, this may take a couple hours or more. A Firewire will speed up the transfer. This will result in both drives having identical information on them.
6. After the data transfer has completed, you may swap the drives. Start the MBP and you have finished the installation. The initial boot may take a bit longer than you are accustomed to, but that is normal.
7. When you are satisfied that the new hard drive if functioning properly, you can erase the old drive and use it for any needs that you may have.
If there is any confusion on your part, post back.

It seems you have a network conflict that isn't allowing your MacBook Pro to connect to the internet. This may be caused by both computers sharing identical network settings. You may want to consider creating a new network location on your MacBook Pro to assign new network settings. The following article will instruct you on how to do that:
OS X Yosemite: Add a network location
A network location is a group of network settings
A network location is a group of network settings for your various network services (Ethernet or Wi-Fi for example).
If you often change network settings, you may find switching between locations quicker and easier than repeatedly modifying individual groups of settings.
For example, you might want to make a location for “home,” where you connect to the Internet with a telephone modem, and a location for “office,” where you connect to your company network and the Internet using Ethernet or AirPort.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.
Click the Location pop-up menu, choose Edit Locations, then click Add .
Enter a name for the location, then click Done.
Enter settings for each network connection service you want to use in that location.
After you create your locations, you can switch all of your network settings by clicking the Location pop-up menu and choosing a different location.

YYosemite is a Mac OS and it doesn't run on an iPad. You cannot delete or install Safari on the iPad. It is on your device somewhere.
Swipe from screen to screen to look for it.
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable it.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. -

I would like to re-install my late 2008 Macbook, however I can't find my original installation DVD. Can I just buy an new OS X 10.7 Lion DVD from Apple Store, then put it into Macbook DVD slot to restart my new OS X instllation without my original inBox installation DVD?

Hi guys, due to the great response from my last question I would like to know something.
I am going to install ultimate windows 7 into my macbook late 2008 aluminum body 13.3 inch with 5 gigs of RAM, is it wise or possible to give windows 200 gb of hard disk space without any problem? Also, I have two pny 4 gb RAM modules, one is installed in my mac alongside the original 1gb module that came with my computer.
Will I be able to install the 2 4 gb modules into this computer using windows 7 ultimate?

My MacBook (late 2008) has been running slow for some time now. I think it might be time for a new hard drive... or maybe a new Mac, but not too sure what is the root cause.
