What type of power bank to use for iPhone 4s?, what type of power bank to use for iPhone 4s?

For use to charge my iPhone 4S

Hi tonyleesb,
You normally use the Apple USB Power Adapter that came with the phone to charge it, although you can charge it from a computer or powered USB hub.

If you don't have your original iPhone power adapter you can also use a power adapter for an iPad:

And of course you can buy either one if you need.

  • What's the best type of anti-virus or spyware to use for cleaning up my MacBook Pro? I recently switched to a mac from pc, so don't know much about my computer yet.

I recently switched to a macbook pro from a pc, and am curious what type of (if any) virus protection or spyware protection to use for it.  I keep getting a message to Install MacKeeper 2012; but am not sure if it's worth paying for or not.  I'd like some advice on what would be the best protection for my computer.  Also, I recently had the new microsoft office installed; which has been having issues freezing up quite often when I use it.  I don't know if clenaing my mac would help with the Microsoft office stuff, or not (or even if that would be related)...also each time I restart my computer; all windows applications open (word, power point, excel & outlook).   obviously I'm not very tech savvy to begin with so any advice would help!  I'm hoping this computer will last me thru the next 4 years of grad school & just want to make sure this computer is well taken care of to last that long.  Thanks!

You don't need an antivirus, but don't install Mackeeper if you don't want a damaged Mac OS > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3036 See > http://www.reedcorner.net/mmg/

You can transfer photos outside of iTunes. I do it all the time. THat said, i have a 50/50 success rate with them. I'd avoid sandisk and kingston, their bundled software triggers the 'too much power' warning.
I've had mixed luck with lexar, some work, some don't.
I did have good luck with an older 4 gig geek squad one.
Look for drives without software on them, without bright LED lights and I haven't gotten any larger than 4 gig to work, but that may just be me.
For a less troublesome way? h onestly, I use a SD card that I've formatted with the DCIM folder. I've never had one of them trigger the 'too much power' warning. Just make sure they're not SDXC. those don't work.

  • What brands and type can I use for my iMac 20" internal Hard Drive?

what brands and type can I use for my iMac 20" aluminium internal Hard Drive?
can I use WD caviar black?
    is it too hot?

If you are replacing the drive because the existing one is faulty, that's one thing. If you just want more space, you should take advantage of having a decently fast and relatively small capacity drive in there now (instead of a huge drive). Get an external FireWire drive and off-load most of your user data there. Make your internal drive dedicated to mostly your OS and app files, with plenty of free space. That setup will make your iMac run more efficiently. I won't go into more detail, because I'm not answered your specific question... You can post back with any questions, if interested...
    To answer your questions...
You should be able to use any SATA 3.5-inch drive internally, but you should probably keep it at or under 1TB. The main concerns are power usage and heat dissipation. A drive like the WD Caviar Green would be ideal in terms of power and heat, but they do have slower (or variable) spin rate. I have one as an external drive (750GB) and it is amazingly quiet and cool. If I had to replace the internal drive because the current drive failed, I'd put it inside. I'll trade a bit of pure performance for the efficiency (including low noise), and these drives are more advanced with higher data density and larger cache, so the trade-off from slower spin rate may not be so bad.
You can check your current drive's model number (which is shown in System Profiler) to get the specs online. The stock drive in my old +Late 2006+ iMac is a 7200 RPM drive. The Caviar Black is a 7200 RPM drive, with a newer design. So if you want to use a Caviar Black in there, I think it would be OK.

  • I repeatedly have problems loading https sites, e.g., bank, credit cards, etc. that I have used for ever. Anyone know what on earth is going on? It wont even load the proper images or allow the links to work. I've tried everything you suggest but no luck

I have a Mac OS X 10.4.11 Power PC running Firefox 3.6.11, and every time I try to access a secure site that I have accessed many, many times before and even TaxAct last year, the images do not load nor do the links on the page work. The bank and credit card pages constantly come up with the "Security" issue, & even when I try to "accept" the exception it will not allow me to even though everything in the "details" section is fine. I have no idea what on earth is going on, I have literally tried everything you have suggested without any success. I don't know what else to do. Can anyone please help me?
    Thanks,

  • What type of mac do i need for home use to watch and edit videos

What type / power of MAC do i need for home use to watch and edit vedeos as well as basic computer work?

Any of the new Macs for home - iMac or MacBook Pro are even fine. You don't need a 65lb workstation tower. If you want a tower for how well and long they hold up, and can be upgraded, that is another matter and fine and might be overkill at first.
Even the base Mac Pro will get you there.

  • What non-adapter power connections to use for Boeing 777 business flights?

    Hi!
My client would like to know what type of NON-adapter power connections to get for his 15" 2.4 Ghz MacBook Pro on his Boeing 777 business flights. He doesn't want those adapters since they clutter up and are heavy. Also, where to buy them (Costco, Best Buy, Apple stores, etc. in CA, USA).
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you.

The specific type of power port depends on the airline (for example, American's 777s have cigarette lighter-style power ports, whereas United's 777s have EmPower ports).
What is needed is the MagSafe Airline Adapter:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB441Z/A
That will work with both EmPower and cigarette lighter-style power ports. It does not have a 'power brick', merely a cable with plugs on both ends (and a small adapter for the cigarette lighter-style port). Note that this will not charge the battery, but it will power the MBP during flight.
The above adapter will not work on planes with standard AC connections. In that case, the only solution is a power-brick type of adapter - one would have to use the 60 W MagSafe power supply for a MacBook (or 13"/15" 2.53 GHz MBP), since the 85 W adapter that comes with most MBPs will trip the fuse on seat power (it's limited to 75 W).

All you will need is a USA adapter for your MBP power adapter since it will work in  electrical environments from 100v. to 220V.  It seems that a type B will be needed.

  • What amplifier will recomended for my k-type theromocoupler using usb 6008

I recently do a project about temperature control system using usb 6008, according to the spec, the minimum AI range is +/- 1V and the thermocouple giv the voltages in jz a mV, so what kind of amplifier will be recomamded? is there any amplifier chip set that available ?

Analog Devices AD594/AD595 Monolithic Thermocouple Amplifiers (Type J / Type K)
This would give you a conversion of 10mv per degree C using a single +5v supply you could get to a couple of hundred C
I get 11 bits of resolution available for the +/- 4v range (11 because I can't see a negative supply available so we are only using one side of the differential range).
    That's a resolution of 2048 bits over 4v giving 0.001953 v per bit
The devices above give 10 mv per degree C so you would have about 0.2 C resolution and a maximum temperature of around 450 degrees C an minimum temperature of 0 degrees C.
The device draws about 1mW so you should have no problems with power consumption. (Hint Earth / Ground loops might be a problem).
I should add that whilst I have used this device many hundreds of times, I have never applied it to the USB 6008.

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost:
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Connect the iPod to your computer and try to restore via iTunes. Try placing in Recovery mode if necessary to restore.
    - If you can't turn the iPod completely off, let the batter fully drain. After charging for at lerast anhour try again
    - If still not successful time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Hate to say it. I isolated this to only be happening with email/Mail program. Then ran Sophos Virus detector on it and it did show a trojan virus in my email spam folder. I eliminated it ; ran disk utility a couple of times and  I am good now. Spent the whole day on it though before I thought of using a virus scan... as soon as I started running sophos it stopped sending me the two minute timer as well--so just opening the virus software was able to disengage whatever was happening. My computer is all mac --no PC interface added at all. Hope that was that. Thank you for responding.

No. Your iMac only has DVI video connection. You would need an iMac with Thunderbolt.

  • What type of DVD should I use for Windows Backup?

I am wanting to do my Windows Backup and I was wondering what type of DVD media I should use. Is it better to use a RW or only R type DVD.
    I have an HP Omni 220-1180qd, A5W89AV#ABA, running Win7 64 bit.
I thought I read it can use CD's, DVD's but I want to know which would be the better choice.
Thanks for any help and all help is appreciated.
    This question was solved.

Honestly, an external hard drive would be a better choice. The difference between +R and +R/W is that +R is "Recordable" and +R/W is "Re-Writable". If you intend on making periodic backups, go with an extrernal hard drive... If you intend on making very few backups, consider the DVD+R discs.
