What type of server is this?

Hi Guys,
Im quite new to servers and i was wondering how i would be able to create a server using Wndows Server 2008 where the client has to remote desktop into the server and then log in there but the main problem is multiple people logging in at the same time as
i want them all to have access to the same files but to also have Outlook installed so they can access their work email individually?
Any help at all will be much appreciated
Thanks Jasper Pryer

Hi,
There are two operation modes: Remote Administration Mode and Application Server Mode.
The following are limitations of Remote Desktop for Administration:
The default connection (RDP-Tcp) only allows a maximum of
two simultaneous remote connections.
Licensing settings cannot be configured.
RD Connection Broker settings cannot be configured.
User logon mode cannot be configured.

Based on your description, I think you need the Application Server mode. It means that you need to install the Remote desktop session host role and purchase RDS CALs.

Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses (RDS CALs)

Hope this helps.

It was the older type (pre 80s) of cable with an earlier colour coding (CW 1293)
    Here is the colour coding.
The predominate wire is the coloured wire ( Blue, Orange, Green,  Brown, Grey) It then has it's associated white wire which, if you carefully strip of the outer insulation of the overal cable you will see that this pair (Blue/white) is twisted together.

  • Sampling or Copying I get error "what type of file is this?"

How can I sample .m4a files from itunes? Logic acts as if it does not recognize the file the first time then the second time it will ask me "what kind of file is this?". I've tried shortening the file name, converting the file in quicktime pro but it won't let me save the file under a different name. It's as if Logic Pro 7 has a mind of its own certain songs I just drag on to the arrange window and it copies fine others it does nothing please someone help me.

these are copy protected files .m4a - i'm pretty sure.
otherwise try changing the extension to a recognized format ie .mp3.
or, open it in quictime and get info, it shoud tell you what type of file it is. then put the appropriate extension on the end

    HI
Take your photos--Add a  'threshold' adjustment layer.  It should now be black and white.
Add new layer.  Bucket fill layer with with desired colour and change layer type from 'Normal' to 'Multiply'.
By changing the slider on the threshold layer you can reveal or hide more of the original image.

  • Pkrb driver: What types of things should this speed up?

    Hi:
I have a Java app that loads XML data into Oracle 8i using the XSU classes. Running outside of Oracle's JVM on an NT, it loads with a certain speed. I have code in there to choose the pkrb drivers when making a connection when applicable. When I use loadjava to load this app into 8i, it runs, but it actually runs a bit SLOWER than running outside (even if using JDK 1.2 outside of Oracle).
I understood that when running in Oracle's JVM, since it was in the SGA, and the pkrb jdbc driver took advantage of that, etc., I should expect a fairly good boost in performance. What types of applications can expect this? Java procedures that deal with manipulating resultsets? It certainly doesn't appear to help table inserts.
    Thanks,
    Mike

FWIW, it is Oracle 8.1.6 running on a PIII 800.

In java, that would be constructed using a JLabel and a JSeparator.
At least, that's how I would do it.

  • What type application suitable for this requirement...?

    Hi All,
We want to develope application that runs on 5 shops (for sales & stock), each stand alone PC running Oracle Express. From the head quarters, the owner want to be able to access this applications, on each sites, via dial-up connection (approx. 33,6 kbps or less).
Centralized 3-tier application is not an option , to reduce communication cost.
So the question is, which one makes more sense to implement :
    1) JClient Application running on two-tier modes ?
    OR
    2) JSP based application, where each shop run OC4J, HTTP Server and browser on one stand alone PC ?
    or any other prossibility ?
    Thank you for your help,
    xtanto

    What's the budget?
Don't forget that the OC4J licenses are roughly $5,000 each, so 5 x $5,000 = $25,000 just for app server licenses. Then there is the hardware and OS cost for 5 machines for them to run on. Many factors to consider. If the only remote access is a small number of users from headquarters, then you might consider just using Jetty. It's a small footprint web server with web container that's written in Java and is very easy to configure and manage. Not a powerhouse solution for sure, but it doesn't sound like you're building an enterprise level app here.
You could run a Swing app locally at each site that talks to the database. Then run Jetty on each machine so that the owner can thinly hit the sites using JSPs depending on the amount of functionality he needs from each site.... more than likely it's just interactive reporting from the database at each site.
What about the 5 local databases? Do they need to stay in synch with a shared item list, for instance?
Just some things that you probably need to consider.

  • What type of extension would this be?

Hi. I'm building an extension that will allow the user to insert an HTML5 video tag on the page along with a JavaScript script tag pointing to a library file. Here's what the user needs to be able to do:
See a dialog box that allows the setting of any number of SOURCE tags. Each source tag can be of a number of types (MOV, MP4, OGG, WEBM). As a SOURCE tag is added, the dialog has option to add another blank one so the user can fill it out.
For each SOURCE tag, the user can "Browse" and attach a video file of those formats.
User can "Browse" for an optional POSTER image.
User can set the width, height, LOOP property, CONTROLS property, AUTOPLAY, PRELOAD ("none", "metadata", "auto").
Or the user can set the video tag's SRC property directly without setting any SOURCE tags.
The user can insert any number of these video tags and then be able to select them and edit them via the dialog box later.
Would this be of the Behavior extension type or of the Insert type? I'm trying to look for a tutorial that will help in creating this. If someone knows of an extension tutorial for something similar to what I'm trying to create here, that will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Where do the custom extensions get installed?
The first thing you need to know about extending Dreamweaver is the difference between the Application Configuration folder (where DW config files are installed) and the User Configuration folder (where new config files are added and standard files are overridden). See this TechNote for more info:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/164/tn_16420.html
Note that this TechNote is old (sorry, I could not find an up-to-date one), but the concepts still apply.
To answer your question, look in the User Configuration folder in the Extensions sub-folder. There will be a .mxi file for every installed extension. This file lists all of the changes made by the extension. You'll need to create one of these when you're done developing your extension and want to package it for distribution.

    Randy

  • What type of server should I buy?

I currently have a Windows SBS 2003 server.  I am a health care provider with 25 computers.  We have used an application that has been a DOS based program for years.  We are getting ready to convert over to a cloud based practice management
system.  We will still need to run our DOS based program for at least two years.  The DOS program runs on a 32bit not a 64 bit.  We have 8 computers running XP.  So I have asked my local IT guy of 20 years what he thinks we should
go to next.  I also got a quote from a different IT company.  Of course they are recommending two different things I do not know what I should do.
My local guy wants to install 8 new computers with windows 8 (which my boss does not want) and all my other13 computers have Windows 7 Professional. Then he wants to install for my server SBS 2011 Standard for emailing we would use Exchange 2010.
The SBS 2003 server is an exchange server but he never set up the email portion.
This other IT company wants to install windows server 2012 standard edition R2and he would install Vmware esx 5.5 virtual server platform so that I can have 1 computer in my office that  would run an Opto 32 bit server and then use a
different "server" to run my new practice management system which is a cloud based system. Plus file share anything else I want to setup.  Then he wants to install Windows 7 pro on the new 8 workstaions that we need.
The quotes are about the same but I feel that I am getting more for my money with the new guy and the ability to grow. As well as maybe better security and reliability. HIPAA wants your system to have bitlocker disk encryption software.  Not sure which
    system has that.
Please advise I know very little about computers so when my IT guy talks he wants to talk me out of the virtual platform and I think it is because he doesn't have that much experience with the set up.   Virtual server is not a hosted virtual server.
    It is just the platform

    Hi Alexandre,
Seems like digicert ucc certificate is costly. Earlier I used them for a year then switched to Godaddy. Its time for renewal as godaddy certificate expires in few days. Recently one of my customer referred me this cheaper price UCC certificate
    at https://www.ssl2buy.com/comodo-multi-domain-ssl.php
I checked list of recommended certificate authorities by Microsoft and comodo is there, so I don't have any question about compatibility. I found this ssl2buy is comodo reseller and offer ucc certificate just for $45 discount price (regular price is $60).
I reviewed this reseller reputation and it seems good and also contacted their live support and seems everything legit.
I tried their product and it seems 100% compatible in exchange environment. I used .local domain names to add in UCC certificate but later I recognized (advised by their support team) that CA/B forum depreciated .local names in SSL.
Do you recommend we should stop accessing server with .local and hostname?

  • What type of extension for this?

I am writing an extension to insert javascript code after
selected textareas to modify their behavior. The extension also
copies files to the site and includes a couple of [script src=... ]
javascript files in the head tag as well as a bit of other source
    code.
I am almost done with it as a behavior, but while working on
it, there have been a few times when I needed to refresh behaviors
and that inserted and onblur or onload behavior into a tag.
This extension will not actually use any of those event
handlers. Is behaviors the wrong type of extension to use, and if
so which ine would be better? If the answer is server behavior, is
that reasonably easy to migrate because the documentation for
server behavior feels a bit above me yet...
    Thanx,
    Steven

From the sound of it, a Command would be better for you than
    a
Behavior. Its API offers far more latitude to manipulate the
    DOM.

  • What Type Of Cable Is this???

Ok this cable comes into my house through the attic, and goes down into the wall to a junction box that connects to the standard type phone cable, but it was filled in with bonding and smoothed over so I am not digging it out again. It seems to have 12 wires in it and the colour coding is different?? Any ideas what this cable is and what wires I need to connect to the standard cable again?
