What type of software is needed to edit Microsoft based doc, ppt, exl , etc on the iPad 2

I just opened Word and Excel files (technical documents) that were emailed to me in Pages and Numbers, respectively. The Word document was just fine regarding the text but the tables were garbled because merged cells in the original were not merged. I couldn't see any formatting problems with a detailed spreadsheet.
If you're editing a text document you probably won't have any problems on the iPad; if there are tables or images/graphics, you can expect formatting issues about half the time. (I also deal with a lot of graphics intensive Word files from students on my laptop and have a similar incidence of formatting issues. But most of these documents I just have to read and understand, so I don't care if there are formatting issues.))
I've had similar experiences with PowerPoint/Keynote translations. If it's a basic presentation with common fonts, things are very smooth; if not--there can be some formatting issues.
Bottom line: if I just have to edit basic content, I wouldn't hesitate to do that on my iPad. If the formatting is crucial, I'll wait until I have access to my laptop which has Office.

    Hi Subu
Initially you need to prepare topics wise questions and in the process the data collection should be from 2 sources i.e. Primary - collecting information directly by interacting with the client and the other one is Secondary - from the documents that you collect from the client.
After formal introduction during the Kick off meeting never directly jump down to interact with the client you need to patiently observe the day to day business process of the client - department wise for the first few days. Do document all the observations that are made by you, this will help you to analyse the gap between the legacy system and std SAP Process.
The first and the foremost thing is that we need to see on what flatform all the business process relating to Accounting is maintained i.e the software used to store the legacy data.\
Now I will mention some of the important points that can be used a check list during your interaction with the client.
1.We are the consultants who need to freeze the Enterprise Structure first and later on the other module consultants will add their respective enterprise elements to the enterprise structure freezed by us. Therefore this process will by itself will take not less than 1 to 2 months. This process is the Typical phase where a lot of interaction/understanding/experience will come into limelight. So be attentive and observe the process throughly, once the Enterprise Structure is freezed and configured we cannot withdraw from the system.
    2. Codification of the Enterprise Elements play a vital role do follow some naming convention. Here coding can be in 3 forms i.e. pure numeric, alfanumeric or pure alphabets.
    3. Identify the chart of accounts that is maintained.
    4. Grouping process of the GL Account According tos Schedule VI of Companies Act 1956
    5. Customer & Vendor Grouping - payment terms maintained - Down payment if applicable - how the memos maintained.
6.. Collect all the documents relating to Procurement Process right from indent preparation to billing and followed by payment. This is very useful.
    7. CIN plays a very important role regarding this we will have a seperate session in the days to come.
This is just a beginning and hope this will help you and as the time comes up do feel free to put up questions and I will clarify for the same.

  • What type of storage is needed for iTunes U

We are getting up and running iTunes U on our University and we are running into the issue of what type of storage we need to provide for iTunes U, i.e. (web share, afp share, smb share. If you could let me know or point me in the direction i need to go it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
The [administraton guide|http://deimos.apple.com/rsrc/doc//iTunesUAdministrationGuide/Introduction /chapter1_section1.html] doesn't explicitly state what type of server is necessary, but given that iTunes U is based on RSS feeds, a Web server would be a good choice for hosting your content (much like hosting any podcast).
    Hope this helps,

  • I have a presentation to make to a customer and need to know how many educational apps are there for the iPad/iPod?

I have a presentation to make to a customer and need to know how many educational apps are there for the iPad/iPod? More specifically special education apps.
    Thanks

Keep in mind as well that not all apps are "created equal".  Some are really good, and others are not very good.  You might also want to look at some education sites for recommendations.  An example of a general iPads in education forum is
    http://ipadeducators.ning.com/
but I imagine some exist for special education needs as well.  Our healthcare organization is using some apps for working with autistic children and find them very helpful.

  • What type of BufferedImage is needed for 24 bit image data

Hello, i am using an image processing api, i have a 24 bit image data, i want to form a BufferedImage and set its pixel values with my data such as
    BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(w, h, what type?);
    WritableRaster raster = image.getRaster();
    int[] imgpixels = ((DataBufferInt) raster.getDataBuffer()).getData();
    for (int i = 0; i < image.getHeight() * image.getWidth(); i++)
    imgpixels[i] = ((myArray).getRed()) << 16 | ((myArray[i]).getGreen()) << 8 | ((myArray[i]).getBlue());
Then i will save the Buf. image to file as png. So what type of BufferedImage do i need?
    Regards.

what is the reason when i read a 24 bit png image...it shows the type as 0 (TYPE_CUSTOM) ?
From the the Field Detail section for the TYPE_CUSTOM field in BufferedImage: the image type is not recognized.
You could make a new BufferedImage with TYPE_INT_RGB, or TYPE_INT_ARGB if the image has or will have transparent pixels, and copy the TYPE_CUSTOM image into it. Then you can manipulate/process the new image.

  • What kind of software I need to make professional quality iDVD's slideshow?

I'm a photographer and right now I'm working with iPhoto to make photographs slideshows; next, export the slideshows to iDVD, but I need the higher quality on the iDVD photographs (Right now on iDVD I'm selected the "Encoding: Professional Quality"), what kind of additional software I need to do this?
    Thanks for your help....

Burned dvd's are low res devices by nature. Meaning all data is eventually compressed into mpeg 2 (normally). If you opt to add still images to a dvd (with the exception of RAW image files added to the dvd rom section of the dvd) then all of these stills will also be of lower quality as well (normally about a third of a megapixel each). Dvd's have not kept pace with today's higher res cameras and camcorders and there is very little you can do to improve upon this unfortunately since most macs do not yet support burning a Blu-ray disc. When and if they ever do, then we will see some significant improvements all the way around since Blu-ray dvd's hold at least 5 times the data of a standard dvd and with significantly higher clarity and resolution than the standard Dvd's most of us use today.
Having said this you may want to consider alternate apps that specialize in slideshows like:
    http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/overview/
    http://boinx.com/photopresenter/overview/
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
Hope this helps but if not, just come on back. And good luck!

  • What Type Of Software Do NEW Customers to BT Visio...

I was asked for advice regrding a friend moving to BT from another provider and having btvision with his package. Note: Not a Youview package.
I couldnt give him my advice as I need to know the following:
1(A) If he got his bt vision box NOW, at this instant in time, will his bt vision box operate on the NEW software straight out of the box ?? (B) If so, can he choose to revert to the OLD software once connected ???
2(A) If he got his bt vision box NOW, at this instant in time, will his bt vision box operate on the OLD sofware out of the box ?? (B) If so, will he then go on the list for the compulsary Software update and await the dreaded email ???
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It looks as though there are a lot of good things coming soon to BT Vision, including extra channels not on Freeview.
Unfortunately, at the moment it's a bit of a shambles.  The new stuff isn't here yet, and the new software is buggy and unreliable.

  • What ideal system do i need to edit with HD?

I know it is a very broad question...
but i have FCE 4 HD... and it doesnt run very good when working with HD...
    i have an IMAC 1gb 2GHz 20"
do i need to upgrade the memory?

I assume the "1GB" is referring to the amount of RAM your computer has? If so, I would upgrade that. Consider that your computer probably needs to use at least half a gigabyte of RAM to perform normal OS functions, so FCE can only use what's left.

  • What type o Extension is needed?

Hi Everyone - was wondering if someone can point me in the
right direction. I am a coder but am trying to make a 'easy front
end' for designers and so I immediatley thought of DW. The problem
is that what I want to do does not jump out at me what technology
    to use for extending DW.
I will explain what I want to achieve first:
I would like to have a 'tag' with attributes that can be
inserted into the Code view yet behave differently in the design
view (in fact totally different). Perhaps an example. Lets say I
    make a tag called
    <myLogo sizeX="200" sizeY="150">
I would like that to be inserted into the Code View yet the
Design View would have something like
    <div class="myLogo" style="width: 200px; height:
    150px">Logo</div>
So in essence the design view would allow the designer a
representation of what would be there once the server has parsed
the <myLogo> - and so they can do the styling. with normal
css. This is not a real example - I am trying to simplify it a bit
(A real one woudl be something like <mySearchResults> and it
puts out a dummy search result for them to style) I guess I am
trying to emulate a language in a way - I put in my tag and the
design view spits out the html it would generate.
What I have looked at so far in extending DW
I was thinking that Tags would be the way to go - but it
seems you can only return what is going to be in both the Design
and Code window. There was a glimmer of hope with the component
documentation as it seems to differentiate between the Code View
and Design View with the 'getCodeViewDropCode()' API and the
'handleDesignViewDrop()' - But it is not immediately obvious that
this is what I should use. Also i seems to know about different
DOMS for boh Code and Design (allowing them to be sync'ed or not)
I basically want to do two things I keep going back to
inserting a table in DW where the Design View is able to have the
little green sizing arrows and the display pushing and pulling of
cells - all of which could be done in javascript and then
repopulate the code view with updated code OR the other way around
do something in the code and somehoe it repopulates the Design
    view.
I believe I am looking for some hidden file that the Design
view uses to render for the component. And leave the Code view
    alone
I sure hope that makes some sense - I would really appreciate
someone pointing me in the right direction here - as I am getting a
little frustrated trying to find what I want to do
    Thanks
    Really appreciate any replies

What you want is implemented with what is called a
    Translator.

  • What type of video card should I upgrade to?

I want to upgrade to Bryce 6.0... it has new features I want, plus, it is designed to fully utilize the dual processors in my G5.
But it requires a 128MB video card with OpenGL capability. My G5 came with (and still has) a 64MB GeForce FX 5200.
    1) So what type of video card should I get?
And I'm also concerned about the heat (and, to a lesser degree, the noise from a fan)... I've been checking out the ATI website, and a lot of their video cards require a 300 watt power supply.
    2) Have any of you experienced problems with with heat from a video card? My loft is fine this time of year, but it gets a little warm in the summer months, even with the breezes off of Lake Michigan.
Also, are there any other benefit to having a high-end video card?
I am open to all suggestions, criticisms, tips, recommendations and ideas. I have no brand loyalty when it comes to video cards. Just don't try talking me out of upgrading to Bryce 6.0.

If you don't need anyting high-end, check into the ATI RADEON 9600 XT with 128MB DDR SDRAM. ATI's 800XT is a very popular card for AGP-equipped PM G5s like yours, but more costly.
