What type of soundcard ?

Dear all,
bit of a silly question, but can someone tell me how to connect 5 speakers to my laptop ?
I bought the Logitec X 530 speakers ( total of 5 ).  I am not sure , but the Logitec manual says that with a
2 channel soundcard i wont hear the sound from the rear speakers.  I am not sure what type of soundcard
my machine has.   Was this a waste of money then ? the subwoofer and two speakers work fine.
Would be nice to have the other three speakers working as well.   any special devices need for this ?
And where would i find out what soundcard my laptop has ?
laptop is HP G61-410SA Tango.
thanks for your help and best regards from

It's phantom powered with a little "in use" light. Got it on ebay for dirt cheap. I'm using it to power my behringer C-1U usb mic, and my sony dynamic stereo headphones. both appear to be recognized and have power to them yet still having the crackling problem
In that case, I'd definitely, definitely get an external power supply for it. You're running this with a notebook, and just because the USB spec says you can take 500mA out of a USB port doesn't mean that manufacturers are obliged to provide that much - and in the case of anything portable, they invariably don't. And if you are running Sony dynamic headphones, you are probably using up pretty much all of the power that the laptop can provide. Not only that, but the power supplied to run the device this way is subject to an electronic 'negotiation' with the PC - and the results of this can vary dynamically; another source of weird things happening.
It's pretty common to find that the majority of USB hub problems evaporate when a sensible power source is applied!

  • What types/brands of Pro soundcards are supported?

I'm interested in getting a Mac Pro for my recording studio. I'm trying to find out what types/brands of soundcards are supported. I currently use M-Audio, but looking on their site I see that they don't have any drivers that go above 10.5.8. It appears that I may need a new sound card if I get a Mac Pro. I need to know what my choices are BEFORE I do anything more. I currently use Logic Pro on my old G4 with Tiger & that's just not cutting it. However, I have a great soundcard so it still works OK for now.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Dear bamim2: I hate to break the bad news to you (well, sorta bad, I guess)
but...with the Mac Pro, it's PCI-E cards only. PCI cards will not work at all, sadly, so your options are very limited indeed. I hope someone else will reply as well and prove me wrong

  • What is the soundcard for 2008 mac pros?

I'm having some problems with no sound in the Windows Partition of my Computer and I'm talking to Windows people about it. They're asking me for the type of soundcard I have and I don't know that. What section of System Profiler tells me what the sound card is?
    :\

The onboard sound uses the "Realtek High Definition Audio" drivers. You can either grab them off the DVDs that your Mac Pro came with or download them from Realtek's site:

  • What type of hard disk should I use if I want to use it on mac and windows?

    Hey Forum,
I am using windows xp on my macbook (snow leopard). I came across some dealers who say that there are hard disks for mac only and for both mac and windows. So, I wanted to buy a hard disk so that I can use it both on mac and windows xp, so what type of hard disk should I use? Must I partition into 2?
or are there any harddisk in the market which is compatible for both mac and windows xp without screwing up the format(NTFS/Mac OS X Journaled)? Pls look into this matter and help me with it.
All of your replies and suggestions is much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Run, don't walk, from that dealer! and never look back
Once in a very long while Apple will have customized firmware on drives, and it is possible to find SCSI/SAS or drives that are destined to be used with high end storage controllers.
But that is the exception that makes the rule.
SATA is SATA. Though.... there are now SATA III drives that don't work in XP, or that need a jumper, and Seagate and some drives have managed to deliver firmware that has caused trouble... and Apple has had to issue firmware updates to help compatibility....

What type of Vista you advise to by installed on a G30-194: x86 or x64, because both works with this type of processor

I agree with snipe. Who knows when the drivers for x64 will be available. It will be available one day but probably not in next few months.

what is the next step after editing or triming a video?
what type of file format should be save and what to do after that?

In the early days of digital video editing, an export render could take hours!  Not many applications are as hard on system resources as video editing, and rendering the final edit is probably the most system intense action of all.
Head on over to the Premiere Pro Hardware forum to see what sort of computer hardware the pros use for NLE (non linear editing), or to the PPBM5 site for a better look.

  • What type of wireless router is the 1st generation time capsule? Is it B, G or N. I'm trying to understand why our wifi signal is a bit erratic. Paul

what type of wireless router is the 1st generation time capsule? Is it B, G or N? I'm trying to establish whether its causing signal degradation as a result of conflicts with my BT Home Hub router.

The 1st generation Time Capsule is an 802.11"n" wireless router, but in default settings it produces a signal that is also compatible with "g" and "b" wireless devices.
If your HomeHub is in close proximity to the Time Capsule and it is also producing a wireless network, either the wireless on the HomeHub or the TIme Capsule should be be disabled to minimize the chances of wireless interference.
Interference may also be coming from any cordless phones you may have, or another nearby wireless network as well.

  • What type of adapter/ converter would I purchase from Apple if traveling to France? Does Apple even offer one?

What type of adapter/ converter would I purchase from Apple if traveling to France? Does Apple even offer one?

The power supplies used by Apple can be used with any line voltage between 100 and 240 volts so you done need any changes there.
What you will need is pin adapters because the European socket require different shaped pins. You can get the pins adapters at any hardware store quite inexpensively.

    Hi Sreedhar,
What you've mentioned is exactly the task of CRM Middleware, which sits on the CRM server and governs the data flow.
By any chance are you trying to find out about DOE(Data Orchestration Engine) used by SAP NetWeaver Mobile ?
maybe this link would help then:

  • Need a query to  determine what type of access an account have in ERP

Need a code to check what type of access an account (username) and its responsibilities have in ERP - Is it Inquiry only or it have update access and/or ability to run concurrent jobs.
    It means
A column (Has Update Capabilities?) should be placed in a report where there are different columns containing Form Name etc.
    It should display like below
Update Capabilities --> Put Yes in this field
No Update Capabilities --> Put No in this field
Job Scheduling Capabilities --> Put 'Yes - Job Scheduling'
    Thanks in Advance.

    What I mean is,
Where can I know the update capabilities for a Form or a function
I was asked by my manager to make a report to input the UserName so that the output displays the UserNmae and its associated Responsibilities and the Menu prompts registered with the responsibility(Tree Structure) and the User Form Name and User Function Name and the Update Capabilities.
For the Update Capabilities I have to display 'Yes' if the form/function has update capabilities or not.
And have to check whether it has Job Scheduling Capabilities or not.
For this (Update Capabilities), which tables I have to refer?
    Thanks.

  • What type of new harddisk to install (MacBook Late 2008)?

    Hi,
I have a MacBook 13" Late 2008 (alu version) and would like to expand my hard disk memory.
What type of harddisk do i have to look for? Can I expand my memory up to 1TB? And is it preferably doing this myself rather than by a professional? Any tips?
    Thanks a lot,
    F from Belgium

You can but HD's are expensive right now due to monsoon flooding
in Indonesia and 1TB will be expensive. You might check newegg's
selection as they have very good, comprehensive and critical product
reviews. You might consider going to a 7200 RPM drive vs. your 5400.
To minimize any sensation of vibration, investigate the WD Scorpio
Black series that combines speed and quietness with a five year
warranty. You are certainly able to do the job yourself using the
included instructions or videosthat are widely available, especially i
f you will spend a few bucks on the small Torx screwdriver (I believe
you will require the T6). Another good supplier who provides install
videos is Other World Computing (macsales.com).
Good luck and all best, Tom

No. Your iMac only has DVI video connection. You would need an iMac with Thunderbolt.

  • What  type of plug in do I need to use between weblogic and tomcat please

    Hi,
Can anybody please tell me what type of plugin do I need to install to communicate between Tomcat4.0 and weblogic6.1 sp2.actually I wanted to use a connection pool from my servlet on my local tomact where connection pool is created on remote weblogic server.........?
I have no idea what to do. I tried including the weblogic.jar in my local classpath where my tomcat is sitting. This didnot work . I got the following error......
I want to know is it possible.............?
javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory [Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory]
    Your response is very inportant......
    Thnaks

Thanks a lot for your rely....
then how could I use the remote connection pool in my
local Tomcat server.....?If thats is not possible then
what if organisation have two webservers...? you mean
thay have to create connection pool in two servers
rather on one server and use it every where.....?
Still depends on what you are trying to achieve.
Most clustered systesm use a connections on each server. They sync the data retrieved between servers, not the connections themselves.
If you simply one a single connection point then you need to use a driver that proxies requests to and from the real connection point.
    RmiJdbc is free at http://www.objectweb.org/.
There are commercial drivers available, search at http://industry.java.sun.com/products/jdbc/drivers, which provide an enterprise layer for database access. They are probably more robust and feature rich than the above one.

You can transfer photos outside of iTunes. I do it all the time. THat said, i have a 50/50 success rate with them. I'd avoid sandisk and kingston, their bundled software triggers the 'too much power' warning.
I've had mixed luck with lexar, some work, some don't.
I did have good luck with an older 4 gig geek squad one.
Look for drives without software on them, without bright LED lights and I haven't gotten any larger than 4 gig to work, but that may just be me.
For a less troublesome way? h onestly, I use a SD card that I've formatted with the DCIM folder. I've never had one of them trigger the 'too much power' warning. Just make sure they're not SDXC. those don't work.

One way to handle that is to use a session bean to access all the data at once and then send back a collection of objects. There's a Core J2EE pattern called session facade that can help:
