What type of TV's will apple TV work on?

I am learning about Apple TV.  I would like to know all of my options as I proceed with the purchase of this new device.  What type of TV will it work with when I am using my iPad?  Is there any chance a TV that is not a flat screen TV is usable?  I have both types of televisions available to test out this new device.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV is compatible with high-definition TVs with HDMI and capable of 1080p or 720p at 60/50Hz,2 including popular models from these manufacturers: Hitachi, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, NEC, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba, Vizio, Westinghouse.
It won't make any difference to the TV you can use whether you use an iPad or not.

will apple tv work with a hdmi splitter of some kind ? TV only has 2 hdmi ports and both are being used .
If splitter will work any recomendations as to best type to use

    The Hatter,
I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

Will Apple Pay work with a new iPod Touch?

No. Only the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have the necessary hardware chip (called NFC) to use Pay.

  • My iPod Touch 4g screen has just cracked - what are my options? Will Apple fix it and how much will it cost?

My ipod touch just slid off the sofa (less than two feet) and fell on its face. The screen is now cracked but the ipod is still functional. Will Apple repair the screen and if so how much would it cost? I think I was told in store that I could get 10% off a new one, but does this include the new 5g model?

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

Apple TV works with 220 and 110 volts (Europe and US).  India is 220v at 50 Hz so no problem for ATV.

  • How do I go about cloning my MBP? What type of external HD will support this?

I want to backup my MBP prior to installing Lion. Some suggest to clone my HD? Never done this and after reading some posts it sounds like some External HD's will not support Mac? What about 'CCC' - Carbon copy cloner? Any thoughts?
Looking for some advice... Type, size, etc. I currently have a W/D
    Thanks in advance.
    FYI
    MBP
    Version 10.6.8
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
My HD info says "Used" 54.6 GB
    265.13 GB available

It makes more sense to use Time Machine to back up your hard drive, because then the Lion software will transfer the right preferences, applications, and files back to your new Lion computer.
Get a 500GB USB 2.0 external hard drive.  You can find them from around 50-100 if you look around.  Get a portable one, so that you can carry it with you.
CCC has some specific purposes which doesn't make sense here since you're upgrading your operating system.  If you were going to swap out your internal hard drive, for example, CCC is an absolute requirement.  I use it frequently, but not for what you're doing.

  • What type of monitoring/report will help me here? AWR/ASH/SQLTUNE?

    Hi All,
    Oracle v11.2.0.2 Linux 64 bit.
In our application there is a service which keeps running on a Wondows machine and runs few (3 to 4) SQLs repeatedly.
Yesterday evening between 22:50 and 23:15 we had a performance issue with the service i.e. normally these SQLs which take between 3-6 seconds, were taking 35, 40 seconds. AFter 23:15, there was no problem because there was no data (or very less data) to process for next 2-3 hours. Later on it was running fine (back to the original timings).
Now I want to investigate that specific issue I had yesterday (about 12 - 14 hours ago). I have the SQL Ids, session id.
I don't have access to Enterprice manager or Grid control, only SQL prompt. However I can ask the DBAs to generate a report, but with all required details.
Problem is, what report do I run? what to use?
    1) AWR is set to 1 hour interval. And my problem window is split in 2 different snapshots. If I look at 2 AWR reports ( 22:00 - 23:00 and 23:00 - 00:00), the numbers don't show much of an issue, as all the numbers are averaged out for the whole 1 hour (i.e. a SQL performed well 15 times and did badly 5 times, the overall average won't look bad)
    2) ASH report is a complete mistry to me. I am trying to generate the report with ashrpt.sql / ashrpti.sql. Most of the sections say "No data exists for this section of the report". When using ashrpti.sql do I need to enter all the values it ask? Is there a Oracle's recomended way to give values and run this report? Documentation does not show a sample/example call which will work.
    3) DBMS_SQLTUNE reports are also not showing any data. Almost blank reports. How can I find out if the data required for DBMS_SQLTUNE is there? or how long that data is retained?
We always get such delays randomly, ask a DBA, they say, "No problem". Not their fault, but they are looking at averaged out numbers.
    Thoughts please.

    Hi,
your problem is that you are trying to resolve a problem related to a specific statement by using instance-wide tools. You should look at performance stats for that particular statement.
    1) Identify sql_id of the offending statement (e.g. select sql_id from v$sql where sql_fulltext like '%part_of_statement_text_here%', if it doesn't return results check case or look in
    dba_hist_sqlstat)
    2) Look for records with this sql_id in DBA_HIST_ACTIVE_SESS_HISTORY (use filter on sample_time). Compare performance indicators for the timeframe of the incident and outside it
    3) You can also find performance stats for this statement in DBA_HIST_SQLSTAT, but you will have aggregates over snapshot duration
Given your symptoms, the most logical explanation is a plan flip. Check plan_hash_value in DBA_HIST_SQLSTAT -- if it changed around the time of the incident, that will confirm your suspicion.
Use dbms_stats.display_awr to display both "good" and "bad" plan. Try to understand the key difference, look at predicates for any hint that could explain it. If it doesn't give you results,
use format=>'advanced' to generate outlines for both plans, then you can set STATISTICS_LEVEL=ALL and run the statement with both plan, producing extended plan statistics. Use
dbms_xplan.display_cursor(..,..,format=>'allstats last') to display it. If having difficulty interpreting it, post it here to get the help from community.
    Best regards,
    Nikolay

  • Seems like my magsafe 2 overheated and stopt charging the computer. What should i d? Will apple replace it by warranty? Got thi mac 2 months ago.

Take it in to your nearest Apple Store: https://www.apple.com/retail/ they will be able to help you out. If you purchased it two months ago they will more than likely replace it no questions asked.

  • What type of AVI files will IMAQ routines open/read?

It's been recommended that to be able to use images from DV firewire
cameras with IMAQ the way to do it is to capture an AVI file and then
use the open/read AVI Vis to process the frames. When I capture a full
DV file using Pinnacle studio, this captures to a type 2 AVI using the
dvsd codec. Open AVI exits with an error when trying to open these
files. Does it need to be a type 1 AVI or use a particular codec to be
    readable by IMAQ?

    Hi Russ,
The only caveat on the avi read functions is that the file extension should be .avi
I'm still looking into it but it would be helpful if you could tell me what functions you are trying to use and what error codes you are seeing.
    Thanx

  • What type of camcorder/camera will work?

Okay, I have a Mac OS X version 10.2.8, and I wanted to know, are there any cameras or digital camcorders that would still be compatible with my computer (and iMovie version 3.0.3)? I'm not sure, since I would think they would be more compatible with the more recent Mac OS X's, but I wanted to ask here, before I bought something that won't work.

Perhaps I should restate my question, I don't want anyone to actually find a specific camera, i'm just wondering will there be ones around today that still work with a Jaguar, if anyone has any pointers or so, i'd be willing to know...

  • Will Apple TV work for what I want to do?

    Hello,
I currently don't have a DVD player as it broke. I was going to invest in one, but I was thinking of spending the money on Apple TV instead.
Question - can I take the DVD's I currently have in my collection and have them run through my iMac onto my Apple TV? Would I have to download the DVD? Would I have to rip it to run through iTunes? I don't mind the extra step if it means I get the advantages of Apple TV over buying a replacement DVD player.
    Thanks,
    M

    No.

"Ripping" DVDs is not legal in the U.S. and the terms of use of these forums prohibit us from discussing it. iTunes has no ability to rip DVDs.
