If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
Otherwise you need a computer with iTunes and an internet connection
    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Kenwood X991 & iP200 cable with iPod 5th Gen 80GB does NOT work correctly

I have a conundrum. My wife has the 4th Gen v1.2.1 iPod 30GB which works fine on my Kenwood X991 Head Unit. I recently purchased the "new" 80GB iPod 5th Gen with the latest version "1.0.2" which does NOT work properly. The iTunes software tells me that this 1.0.2 is the latest software.
When I attach my iPod to my stereo, it states "Reading" for eternity. It DOES play music but only plays Alphabetical Order ONLY. There is no ability to stop, change, fast-forward, reverse, etc....the only thing you can do is click "Source" to change to CD Player or Tuner, etc...
Does anybody out there know what is going on? I have a request into Kenwood as well. Thanks in advance for all your help!
    -Kingofbytes

Thanks for the help. It's an iPod Classic then 80GB. The unit plays when plugged in but does not allow searching, or switching songs nor displays as it is supposed to. My wife's 30GB works with no problems. Of note:
    Her 30GB = v1.2.1
    My 80GB = 1.0.2
Mine is newer by about 6 months. Both are the latest software according to the screen.
Kenwood has said to "reset the head unit" and "make sure I've got it plugged in properly". I need to try the reset part next but the last statement is funny to me. I can install a head unit, amplifier, re-run all speaker wire, install a Dual 10" subwoofer box, solder and wire tie all connections from a factory unit to a 3rd party Cable manager kit, but I need to "make sure" I know how to plug in an iPod cable.....laughable.

  • What type of video card should I upgrade to?

I want to upgrade to Bryce 6.0... it has new features I want, plus, it is designed to fully utilize the dual processors in my G5.
But it requires a 128MB video card with OpenGL capability. My G5 came with (and still has) a 64MB GeForce FX 5200.
    1) So what type of video card should I get?
And I'm also concerned about the heat (and, to a lesser degree, the noise from a fan)... I've been checking out the ATI website, and a lot of their video cards require a 300 watt power supply.
    2) Have any of you experienced problems with with heat from a video card? My loft is fine this time of year, but it gets a little warm in the summer months, even with the breezes off of Lake Michigan.
Also, are there any other benefit to having a high-end video card?
I am open to all suggestions, criticisms, tips, recommendations and ideas. I have no brand loyalty when it comes to video cards. Just don't try talking me out of upgrading to Bryce 6.0.
    Thanks!

If you don't need anyting high-end, check into the ATI RADEON 9600 XT with 128MB DDR SDRAM. ATI's 800XT is a very popular card for AGP-equipped PM G5s like yours, but more costly.

  • How do I find out what type of video card I have?

I just want to know what to do to know what type of video card I have. What steps do I take to find out?

Go to "About This Mac" under the Apple menu. Select "More Info..." and then "System Report...". Look under Hardware>Graphics/Displays/ Your video card(s) will show up at the top.

  • What type of video camera do people use to edit professionally these days?

I use to own a Mini DVC camcorder that I would edit video with in Final Cut Pro. Now since my Mini DVC camcorder broke I'm shopping for a new video camera but found myself really confused on what I need to buy for a good professional video camera at this point. It seems like DVC camcorders have been turned obsolete and now my options is a camcorder with a hard drive or a sd card in it, unless there are other options I'm not seeing at the local best buy.
I'm a little hesitant with the SD and hard drive cameras just for the fact that I would think they would be compression the video when saving it to these new formats, and I also don't know what compression scheme there using. With a DVC all I had to do is shoot the video and then hook it up to my computer via firewire and capture it, this would allow me to compress the video while I was capturing it.
With these new cameras I have no clue on what compression scheme they use and if there even a good option for good professional video editing. I'm not looking to spend to much money, I was hoping I could get something between $200 - $400 tops, but I wouldn't spend this type of money till someone gave me a little advice on what format is right to use with computer video editing these days.
Any advice or recommendations would be very appreciated. If the price is right I would take standard definition (just for the fact that my Mac is a G4 and I don't really think it can do HD video that well), but if I could have an option to later shoot in HD that would be very helpful to.

With a DVC all I had to do is shoot the video and then hook it up to my computer via firewire and capture it, this would allow me to compress the video while I was capturing it.
DV video, recorded onto DVC (Digital Video Cassette) tapes, would NOT be compressed during capture. DV, DVCam and DVCPro (all varieties of the DV25 codec) is compressed 5:1 when recorded to tape. When you capture, all that happens is a straight digital transfer of 1s and 0s from the tape to your computer. No further compression was taking place.
What type of video camera do people use to edit professionally these days?
All types. Everything from Flip cameras to HDCam SR.
I'm a little hesitant with the SD and hard drive cameras just for the fact that I would think they would be compression the video when saving it to these new formats
You'd better get over that ... tape-based recording is going the way of the audio cassette.
I also don't know what compression scheme there using
Now you've hit upon what I consider to be the main problem with non-tape cameras; many manufacturers have taken to using codecs that were originally designed for final delivery, like H.264. So they need to be converted to an editable format PRIOR to editing. That's probably the reason that Apple developed the ProRes family of codecs. It's definitely a change in workflow. The other real issue I have with non-tape recording is the lack of a decent archive method. With tape you had a built-in archive medium; the tape itself. But with the new card-based recording, your archive options are limited and more expensive than tape.
    If the price is right
And what price would that be? What's your budget?

  • What type of video file does the iPod 5 take with it's camera?

I'm takeing a video course in school and need to know what type of video file it records. I'm using the iPod because of it's amazinf 1080p video. Thanks.

  • Ipod 5th Gen Video 80Gb disk mode not recognized on itunes

    Hi there everyone,
So i have my ipod 5th gen 80GB video and here's my problem.
Time ago i had it in a pocket of my backpack that was supposed to be waterproof. We got completely washed in NYC and when i took it out of my backpack pocket the ipod was dead or behaving in a weird way.
It didn't turn on then i let it dry. After weeks i've been trying to charge it but it seems it had battery problems so i bought a new one and replaced.
Now the ipod stays on but it keeps restarting showing me the sad face. Then it restarts beginning fgrom the apple logo and the same thing comes up.
I can put it in disk mode and also in the diagnostic mode thru the key combination.
I let it sit for 24 hours more or less to the wall charger and the battery seems to be completely full and the ipod stays on, still fiving me the same synthoms. Then i put it in disk mode while downloading the last version of itunes (9). When i plug it in, i hear the sound that windows makes when you plug something via usb. It installs the software and it sees it as an ipod device. But itunes WON'T.
This appens with every usb port that i have. I can put it in disk mode even plugged into the computer, i hear the windows sound like i just plugged something in but nothing.
When i reset the ipod, sometimes i see the screen that tells me to connect the ipod to itunes and procede to the restore.
Sometimes i see the big V and the "ok to disconnect". The if i plug it in with itunes open on my desktop i see the "do not disconnect" but nothing happens, it will not see it yet.
After 30 secs more or less, the ipod restarts again on its own showing me the sad face.
If i turn it off it tells me "very low battery" but i don't know if this last one statement its important or not.
I know already that all of my music and videos are gone. I just would like to get to the restore step then i'll start over again loading music and videos.
What kind of problem do you think it has? Is there another hardware component damaged that needs to be replaced?
Is there a solution for this kind of issue?
Of course i've been following ALL the apple instructions on the website, the 5 R's and so on but nothing worked.
I really hope that someone in here could give me an hint because at this point i really don't know where to crush my head
Thank you so much for your time!

I'm having the same exact problem. When I first started using Vista it was fine, but now all of the sudden it will do nothing with My iPod and it kind of angers me.

I have the iPod 5th gen. and my iPod wont connect to my wifi. I've tried everything. i rest my wifi networks and it still wont work. What do I do??

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • Ipod 5th gen, video 30bg, will sync/restore, won't play

I am running Windows 7, with all updates (as of 3/14/2014) have itunes 11.1.5.5 showing no available updates. When I plug into the USB port, the ipod gets recognized, Itunes starts. I can see the files on the ipod. I have reset the ipod and restored. Same problem. When I drill down to the actual file I want to listen to, it doesn't play. On the screen the icon changes from pause to the arrow for play, the index line never advances. You can hit the select button, use the scroll wheel to advance through the file, and hit play again, but no noise. There isn't noise if in the dock (which other ipods and iphones work with in the house) there is no noise if the headphones are plugged in. i was thinking harddrive, so I replaced it. couldn't get the new one to function. When the new harddrive was in the unhappy face would come up. I could force into disk mode, in hopes of restoring it, but in disk mode, neither windows and hence itunes would recognize it as an ipod. I put the old hard drive back in thinking maybe I damaged the cable, but it came right up, but with the same problem, it won't play the sounds... I replaced the Zif cable just in case, still the same...
i've sure seen lots of Ipod 5th gen video for sale on Ebay, compared to the 4th that I had, which I broke the scroll wheel cable on, but never had such problems with it. Any thoughts out there from someone who might know what it's doing? It seems weird that it loads the music files, and deletes the music files but won't play them. The only other thing I can think of perhaps is the battery too low to spin the hard drive up to play? It does seem to be a very small (physically) battery compared to the 4th gen... but it is thicker...
When I got it it was doing the low power thing, so I did all the steps to re-charge, and restore, but it won't play the files... Thanks for any thoughts!
    Jesse

It sound like you did some good troubleshooting.  Thanks for providing the details.  I don't think a problem like this is related to the battery.
With a 5th gen iPod (early version) that has a 30GB hard drive, it may have problems using a larger capacity hard drive.  That may explain the different problem you had when you replaced the hard drive, if you changed the capacity.
Try the following test.  Do another Restore from the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes.  At the end of the Restore process, choose NOT to sync anything automatically.
Go to the iTunes Store and download a free song.  You can find the current free songs by clicking Free on iTunes under QUICK LINKS, on the iTunes Store Home screen.
Manually load that ONE song on the iPod.  Disconnect iPod and try to play that one song.  Does this same problem occur?
