"What U Hear" Windows 7 x64.

&. Has anyone been able to successfully get "What U Hear" working on Windows 7 32bit or 64bit's I tired sending Creative an email, but i got the "automated" uninstall reinstall driver BS. Which I did, and did nothing but waste time. I am running the most recent drivers aswell.
I have an X-Fi Xtreamgamer running the 2.8.003 drivers on Windows 7 x64.

WHAT U HEAR must be chosen as the default recording device. Make sure you plug in your microphone. Then select 'what U hear" instead as the recording device. This way you have mic or 'what u hear" both as choices. Play a video or song, and record while doing it. Look below and you will see my choices now:?
In the windows control panel, under sound, and then under recording devices, I can speak into the microphone and I can hear it coming out of my speakers. I then mute the micophone and it is still recording, because if I open the control panel, sound, recording applet, both bars for sound bounce until I mute the mic. Then the mic is recording but not allowing the sound play too.
I see what your tring to say, but when I choose "What U Hear" I get nothing, no audio, no nothing. In the Windows control panel like you mention it looks like this:
As you see no green level bar, no nothing. Just "Currently Unavailble". I was playing around with the something last night and go it to work for about 0 minutes, and than back to "Currently Unavailble". This is proably a driver issue, which Creative is going to take forever to remedy. As always. I was just wondering if anyone else is having this issue with Windows 7, and/or if there is a fix/workaround.

Where the hell is it's I've been using Windows 7 for months now and this feature, which I used frequently in Windows XP with the very same Audigy SE, is still noticable by its complete absence. I'm no software engineer, nor do I pretend to know jack about the intricacies of taking a DAC's output and feeding it back through an ADC, but considering that there's posts on the MSDN categorically stating that 7 has programming in place specifically to aid the creation of such a recording source, why is this still absent? The driver can't still be at such an early stage of development.
So yeah, get it fixed already.
Oh and I've already tried the whole right-click > Show Disabled/Disconnected Devices thing. No dice.

\ I had the same problem - no "What U Hear", Windows 7 RTM and SB soundcards.
There was another software problem with my SB soundcards:
I found no Windows 7 RTM Soundfont Synth.
    My solution:
I dismounted and uninstalled all SB soundcards (4 SB Audigy LS and SB Xtreme Audio) and activated the Realtek soundcards on the motherboards.
Now I can record "What I Hear" in all my PCs.
I dislike Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth, Creative's? SoundFont Synth sounds better.
If Creative [color="#ff0000"]soon comes up with solutions to my two problems, I will reinstall my Creative soundcards.
Else I will buy software synths from another company and leave Creative for good.

There is no need for anyone to use 32-bit version anymore.
Retail comes with both. Or you can save on just buying 64-bit System Builder disc.
Better support for today's hardware with larger video graphic memory and systems.
    Better memory management.

I've spent ages searching the forums and can find other people who have experienced the problem but have yet found a fix. They've also explained the problem better so I'll try and make this a little clearer also.

  • How to get WHAT U HEAR option for PCI Express X-Fi Titanium sound card and Windows 7

how to get WHAT U HEAR option for PCI Express X-Fi Titanium sound card and Windows 7 ? Is it on the basic driver? or do you have to install some other software?

You have to install the rest of the software(s) for the sound card. The software is (if it is with the installation CD, though) called "Creative Smart Recorder" or something like that.

  • Does "What You Hear" work in Windows Vis

Does record?"What You Hear" work in Windows Vista?

It works (in 32 bit anyway), but not that well by my experience. I only have the windows sound recorder to use, and the sound it captures distorts slightly. I ususally use the Creative WaveStudio for recording, so I'm not doing much recording while I wait for a Vista version to be released.

  • "What you hear" in Windows Vi

I have an HP Pavilion with Vista installed (and Realtec audio) and just got Soundblaster USB (model SB0490) with the Vista drivers. What I can't get this to do is to be able to hear what I am trying to record. For instance line-in is from my radio, currently on, output is headphones. USB connected, nothing is muted, volume is turned up. It will record off of the radio and play it back which is hearable. Its just I can't hear it when recording - i.e., no simultaneous playback. In any of the configuration screens such as the simple mixer panel etc. there are no buttons to enable/disable "simultaneous playback"
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Casey Burns

go to control panel, sound and recording, click on "What U Hear" and choose disable.
if the device disappears and you want to reenable it, click on a blank area in the box and choose "show disabled devices".

  • SB Xi-Fi gaming - x64 vista - EAX console software / "what u hear" ?

    Greets,
I'm looking for the software that installs the EAX console, along with the "what u hear" input/recording options. I have the original driver installation cd - but for XP 32bit only, and I'm running vista64 currently. In the past, I downloaded this off the product support page, but the recent drivers I found there are driver only, and some watered-down options software.
The package I'm looking for included 3-5 pieces of software, of which the EAX console was one. Creative WAV studio was another. I don't recall the others.
Namely, I'm trying to find the components that allow me to record "what u hear" speaker output, as I hear it, and additionally reroute speaker output as line-in/mic input.
The BadBoy iso backup links don't resolve any more, not sure where else to find these.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
The EAX Console is something that's bundled in Audigy cards.
Which X-Fi card do you have exactly, SB X-Fi XtremeGamer?

  • No 'What U Hear' or 'Wave/Mp3' inputs in Windows 7 64bit (SB Audigy 24bit)

After trying out various driver versions, checking to see if the inputs were disabled/hidden, and other wise being irritated at my lack of success, I'm turning here for help in getting this issue resolved. For some reason, I can't seem to find a 'What U Hear' or any equivalent input selection. I purchased my Audigy with the use of such a function high on my list... is there any way to get this functionality enabled and/or restored? I'd hate to have to go back to XP and use my (far older) Soundblaster Li've! card just to record gameplay footage, and I do admit I bought the card under the assumption that it would carry this feature.

NI'll give them a try and post back here with the results - am I correct in assuming the driver pack you speak of is located here? If so, another post by daniel says specifically that his pack doesn't enable the feature, but I'm going to try anyway.
EDIT: Nope, no luck, didn't enable the feature.

  • What U Hear sta

I've got an X-FI ExtremeMusic running Windows Vista x64. I recently installed the May 30th drivers from Creative and now whenever I record from "What U Hear," the sound is extremely distorted and crackly. The volume level is fine, but the sound has a persistent skipping pulsating thing to it.
Here's a link to what it sounds like if I record silence from "What U Hear":?http://rapidshare.com/files/4057339/Skipping.wav.html?This problem occurs no matter what program I use to record (Audacity, Soundbooth, Audition, etc...)?What's the deal?P.S. I had the same May 30th drivers installed before, but for some odd reason I needed to reinstall them. First thing I noticed was that there was a new "Sound Blaster" tab in the device properties and the icon for the Audio Console changed. Before yesterday, everything worked fine. I haven't made any changes to my system, either. Edit: Oh yes, and thanks, Creative, my system no longer wants to reboot or shut down with these drivers installed.Message Edited by Locust76 on 07-02-200705:2 AM

Nevermind, I managed to fix my own problem. The May 30th drivers are absolute garbage. I found the May 24th drivers on Softpedia.com and installed those with no problem.

  • "What u Hear" does not work (SPDIF)

    - Hi!
"What u Hear" option doesn't work after I changed the output to SPDIF. The question is, how i could record sound that goes through my audio card (X-Fi Xtreme Gamer).
In windows' recording tab are these options for recording:
    Microphone
    Auxiliary
    Line-In
    What u Hear
    Pls help
I have win 7 ultimate x64 as OS.

new new VisRe: "What u Hear" does not work (SPDIF)Y I have exactly the same issue. When I originally got my new Vista PC, 'what you hear' wasn't available. It became available when I installed the new driver, as indicated here:http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=&CatName=Sound+Blaster&s ubCatID=208&subCatName=X-Fi&prodID=4066&prodName=X-Fi+XtremeMusic&bTopTwenty=&VARSET=prodfaq:PRODFAQ_ 4066,VARSET=CategoryID:
However, If I open 'Smart Recorder' for example, I can select 'What yiou hear (Creative SB X-Fi)' as an option, but hitting record doen't record what is playing on the PC. So it doesn't actually seem to do anything...
...unless anyone knows different?... Is there a setting I missing? Everything looks fine in the 'Recording Divices -> Record' tab...

  • How to install apex on windows x64 with 10gR2?

    Hello,
today I tried to install the http-server for our 10gR2-database. We are using windows x64.
But I cant find OHS for this release. How can I install apex then?
    Regards,
    Mark

have you tried the installation, or did you just ask in advance?
in the last wekks i did a lof of installation stuff on an x64 system using the old x32 versions. even oracle sw like 10.2.0.3 client etc.
and most oft the stuff was up and running just like on an x32 system.
just keep in mind that the directory structure an x64 is slightly different #
if u install x32 software the default installation path is "C:\Program Files (x86)" and in the registry a speacial key hklm\software\wow6432node
just in case you need to patch.
in my opinion it would be worth to give i a try, but remember not on a productive system.
i'd like to hear about your results

  • [WIN7] Enable Microphone and "What U Hear" at the same time?

    Hey folks!
I am trying to enable both at the same time on my Windows 7 in order to record Battlefield 2 and my own voice at the same time.
Please do NOT start with "do this and that", I have tried everything for at least 1 year by now and the only way to make it work is to have microphone and "What U Hear" enabled. Apparently it is not possible. In order to activate one of both you have to make it "Default" record device but then the other device gets disabled. Trying to record the disabled device obviously ends up in silence.
What is the reason for that and how to enable BOTH devices at the same time?
I am using PAX Drivers which the maker always updates to the latest Creative Drivers. So I am up to date.
Thank you a lot in advance.

    Thank you for your reply.
Well, yes, the microphone is activated. And if I put the microphone playback volume to 100 I can hear myself talk even with "What U Hear" as my default recotding device. But once battlefield 2 starts it uses the default recording device for the in-game voice over IP. If I select "what U hear" as the default device it will basically put the game sound into the VOIP...
What I tried was - set microphone as default device, launch BF2 so it registers the microphone as VOIP input, then alt tab out, select What U Hear as default device but it does not get activated! I only see a bar at the microphone.
What I want is to be able to have TWO volume bars, in What U Hear AND Microphone so I can use the microphone for BF2 and What U Hear as gameplay-sound for my recording device.
In Windows XP this was possible. In Windows 7 this is missing.
The problem here is that once a recording device (the Default one usually) is being used by a program it BLOCKS the other recording devices.

  • What u hear problems in vista 32bit

#What u hear problems in vista 32bit2 I just installed the newer variety of the x-fi notebook card with the wireless broadcast function, and for whatever reason installing the drivers failed the first time, I tried a clean install after that, and the microphone is displayed as not available and what u hear isn't present either, so is there a problem in the driver installation or are those features just non existent in the newer software I also noticed that line in works and the microphone input doesn't, gah, windows fixta is irritating,
EDIT: I found out how to get what u hear to work, I kind of felt stupid but all you have to do is right click in the recording device manager and hit show disabled devices and boom what u hear and the microphone input are there, for what reason I don't know why they were disabled in the first place, but hope this helps anyone with the same problem

    +Re: "What U Hear" Missing in Win7G ?
Agreed! I have an X-FI Extreme, upgraded to win 7, installed the latest audio drivers, and have just spent the last 2 hours trying to get my "what u hear" back without any luck at all.
I'll also mention that "disabled devices" are shown in the recording options, so that is not the issue.
I was using vista before with the exact same hardware and "what u hear" was available. The driver version was 5.2..200 dated 4/02/07 ... The current driver for windows-7 is 5.2..208 dated 3/08/2009. Maybe installing an older driver would do the trick? I don't know if that would work as I haven't been able to find the old driver I was using for download (just been bombarded with broken links). I'm also guessing that you'll be held hostage to the latest drivers in windows 7.
Get the latest drivers to lose functionality? Sounds like something apple would pull on you!
If anyone has a solution for this, please let us know, otherwise I'll be rolling all the way back to good old XP again.

  • Mac output as input in LE8 ? ("What you hear")

I'm a new user, upgraded from Garageband 09, but am a previous cakewalk user from my Windows era. Back in windows, on my XFI audio card there was an option to use the actual output of the PC as an input somewhere in one of the audio programs. It was called "What you hear".
So i'm wondering is this possible on the mac, through the bus settings or something? So what i mean is, whatever is coming Out to the speakers can be routed as an input to be recorded. So if i have a youtube or video in a browser or some audio from another program it can be recorded directly into Logic.
    Any ideas?

With programs like Soundflower (http://www.cycling74.com/products/soundflower) or JackOSX (http://www.jackosx.com/) you can route any audio input to any audio output.
But this is not the right solution for your needs......
The best way is to download the videos and extract the audio track from them.
To do this you'll have to buy a Quicktime Pro license and install these free apps:
    1. Firefox with a plugin called Video Download Helper (to download the videos from youtube etc.)
    2. Perian (to manage several audio format)
    3. Flip4Mac free (to read WMV files).
    cheers
