What update was recently released (3.14.14) for Adobe Reader XI?

Hello Community!
My first post here.
I'm working with a partner company dealing with PDF Signature Forms in IE9 (Windows 7 Enterprise SP1). In some instances, clicking on the signature block (when a person was ready to electronically sign) would cause IE9 to "stop working". The exact error message:
Internet Explorer has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows with close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
(Close Program)
A work-around for this issue was found by going into Adober Reader under Edit --> Preferences and under Security (Enhanced), checking the box labeled, "Enable Protected Mode at startup".
This is not a viable solution for us as the majority of our customers are not technical in nature and we would prefer not to have them attempt to change their configurations on their own.
Today, my partner company noted an update to Adobe Reader when he opened a PDF directly into reader (rather than IE). Since that update, He has been able to sign documents in IE9 without the "Enable Protected Mode at startup" box checked.
Again, this is not something we want our customers to be performing on their own (in fact, they can't).
So what was this update?
Is it available for download and inclusion into an OS build?
How do I go about receiving it?
Adobe Reader XI version: 11.0.06
Internet Explorer 9 version: 9.0.8112.16421
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Pat,
It appears my cohort was mistaken. The "update" performed was actually under Trust Manager --> Automatic Adoble Approved Trusted Certificates Updates
It appears that was the update that was performed.
Thanks again,
-Chuck

  • G4 hung at boot - what updates were recently installed?

I am an experienced PC user working on a friend's iMac G4 800mhz. A few days ago, she installed two or three Apple updates. Now her iMac G4 hangs at the boot screen with the Apple and the rotating "gear".
I have indeed searched the discussion forums beforehand. I have found what I think will be the solution to the problem; *reinstalling the updates from a mounted USB disk using terminal*. My problem is that I do not know exactly what updates she recently installed and she doesn't know either. Is there anywhere on the hard disk that I can find a dated list of her updates or anything that will allow me to know what updates I need to reinstall?
Lastly, where on earth do I find and download these updates?
I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Glynn provides good advice but also try starting in Safe Mode and see if that helps - it's easier if it does.

[What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107392]

[Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5- Computer shuts down during Safe Boot|http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24054]
If it doesn't start up normally after a safe boot I would then try starting with the installer disc (a bit easier for most than a bunch of typing commands, and the fsk thing doesn't repair permissions which has to be done from a full boot).
Boot from the installer disk, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can verify a drive from DU on your main drive while booted but I have found this can result in incorrect reporting of errors. To repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive anyway.
Next, boot from your drive in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and repair permissions. You can repair permissions while booted from the installer disc but this uses the permissions configuration on the installer disc which may be out of date if you have run any updates on your computer. Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and does a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.

    [Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751]
From BDaqua (couldn't have said it better):
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer (Edit: Do not use this disc if it is not the same general version as what you have currently on your computer, e.g. use a Tiger disc for a Tiger drive, not a Panther disc), then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes."
If no installer disc, then try the command line repair method.
If you don't have an installer disc available you can try effecting repairs using [fsk in Single User Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214].

No, you're not entitled to a new MacBook.  If I wanted the newest one, I'd sell the one I just bought and buy a new one.

  • Which Base MSI to Use For Adobe Reader Updates?

I am new to creating AIP for Adobe Reader and am wondering which MSI to use as the base installer.  From what I understand, to create an AIP for Adobe Reader 11.0.07, I need to first have the AIP created for 11.0.00 and then patch it using the 11.0.07 MSP file.  (the 11.0.07 MSP file contains all other updates found in earlier quarterly releases and OOC releases)
So my question is on obtaining the correct MSI file for creating the original 11.0.00 AIP.  My options for obtaining the correct MSI are threefold:
The original 11.0.00 MSI (AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi) (only one msiexec comand required)
The original 11.0.00 EXE (AdbeRdr11000_en_US.exe) (extract the files from the exe, then run the msiexec command)
The new 11.0.07 EXE (AdbeRdr11007_en_US.exe) (same as previous item)
I noticed that the MSIs in the AIP are named "AcroRead.msi" when extracted from an EXE file (#2 and #3 above) but named "AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi" when extracted from the original MSI file (#1 above).  Are all three of these resulting MSIs the "same"?  They all have different MD5 hashes but otherwise appear identical.
Once I have the original AIP for 11.0.00 backed up, I should be able to reuse it when new quarterly releases come out.  Can anyone help please?  What is recommended?  Thanks!

No one answered, but I think probably all can be used.  I made a script that will automatically extract and build the AIP from the most recent EXE file provided by Adobe.  Why Adobe doesn't create a new MSI themselves is beyond me.

  • I recently downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader and when I try to open a new pdf I get the Adobe logo and text in Japanese and the pdf doesn't open.  Any help would be appreciated.

I recently downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader for my MacBook Air and now when I try to open a new pdf I get the Adobe logo and text in Japanese and nothing else.  The pdf doesn't open.  Any suggestions?  I never had this problem until my cache was cleared and I had to re-install Adobe Reader.  Any help would be appreciated.

Just to say I am having exactly the same issue on my MacBook Air.  I can't remember what I did but after this happened a few times, and once I had clicked on the Japanese pop up, I managed to do something that now means I get the pop up in English, saying 'Adobe Reader blocked for this website'.  When I click on it it asks me to trust the content and then I get a bar with the text in Japanese.  Eventually the pdf does open. However it's very irritating that I have to trust every pdf individually which I never had to do before the latest upgrade, and I don't understand why I get messages in Japanese.  I will be interested to see whatever answers other more technical people may provide!

  • Will automatic update select 'Adobe Reader X' after support ends for 'Adobe Reader 9.5.5' on 6/23?

After the recent update for ‘Adobe Reader 9.5.5’ the end of support for this version is June 23, 2013. This is installed on an edition of ‘Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2’. System type: 32-bit Operating System.

Probably is the best way to go if end of support for ‘Adobe Reader 9.5.5’ is June 23, 2013. Does automatic update select the latest version of ‘Adobe Reader X’?

  • What code signing certificate has to be added for Adobe Air Native Installer?

    Hi,
I'm developing Adobe Air application. I need to digitally verify the application to add the publisher's name with the product. I did a little research and came to know that Symantec, Thawte, Comodo, Comodo-Tucows, Digicert, Godaddy and couple of others are doing this.
Yes. I'm talking about the Code Signing Certificate. My question is, What code signing certificate has to be added for Adobe Air Native Installer? The reason is, The native installer will have an extension .exe ( Windows ) and .dmg ( MAC OS X ).
These guys are providing certificate for Adobe Air. For instance, If the application is exported using Native Installer in Windows, The application will have an .exe extension. For this, Can I use the same Adobe Air code signing certificate or Should I go for Microsoft Autheticode ( for .exe ) certificate?
    Thanks in advance.

I think comodo code signing certificate is one of the nice option to be added for Adobe Air, as i have seen comodo code signing certificate in other adobe programs. Recently i bought comodo code signing from https://cheapsslsecurity.com/comodo/codesigningcertificate.html, to sign one of my adobe application and it works fine, you can use microsoft authenticode technology with comodo code signing.

  • What is the shortcut key to highlight words in adobe reader in macbook pro

what is the shortcut key to highlight words in adobe reader in macbook pro?
Shift + U is not working
how can i change shortcut key?

I don't believe there is a keyboard shortcut available for that feature. But I believe if you click-select the topmost chapter, and Shift-click the bottommost chapter, it should select them all.
Other shortcuts for books can be set up in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts in the Panel Menus product area. There are no default shortcuts in that area.

  • How can I add update information/notification of 3rd party software (like Adobe Reader) in my C# des

    Hi,
I have a C# desktop application which will keep track of my installed software(in my PC). I want to make this application more smart, like when the update version of the installed software will come in internet site, the application will notify me and I can update from my C# application, without login or open website.
For example, I have installed MS Office 2013, Adobe Reader 1.1. So when Adobe Reader 1.2 comes in internet, my application will notify me and I can update that from that application.
Can anyone please answer my question, how can I do that?
    Thank you !

Well, each app will be different. You will need detailed research. In some cases the process will be opaque or undiscoverable. For Adobe Reader you might find the Enterprise Deployment documentation relevant.

  • What is the latest downloadable version for Adobe Reader 11.0.08 or 11.0.09?

What is the latest downloadable version for Adobe Reader 11.0.08 or 11.0.09?  I saw the 11.0.09 download last Thursday 9/18/14 but no longer seeing it today 9/22/14, just the 11.0.08.  Also, after I have downloaded and expanded AdbeRdr11008_en_US.exe, I am getting AcroReader.msi that is posted date on 9/23/2012.  I need to customize the MSI file using the Adobe Customization Wizard XI for our corporate environment.  Can you direct me on where to download the latest MSI file for Adobe Reader?  Thanks.

The latest MSI made available by Adobe is AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi
You can get the 11.0.09 EXE from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.09/en_US/AdbeRdr11009_en_US.exe

  • Remove an update for Adobe Reader

    Hi everyone,
I have searched around and couldn't find an answer regarding this... I would like to remove update 11.0.10 for Adobe Reader. I need to do this in order to test some of our in-house applications.
I would like to remove the update only, not the whole Adobe Reader application since we might have to push a solution to thousands of people.
I tried multiple MSIEXEC.EXE commands to uninstall the patch but always get an error stating that this patch cannot be uninstalled. is it true? Am I forced to uninstall the whole product?
    Thanks for your help

I should say so, yes. I don't think Adobe Reader does the necessary thing of keeping copies of all modules at all versions so you can roll back selectively.
You could probably slipstream patches into the original 11.0 installer to make a single install, using normal Windows Installer techniques.
