Hello, I just inherited a solaris box (industrial machine controller).
cpu0: SUNW, UltraSPARC-IIi (440mhz)
SunOS Release 5.6 Version Generic_105181-17 (UNIX(R) System V Release 4.0)
Drive is a 20gb and it has 256mb ram
What version of SunOS is this?
On the sun.com site under documents are Solaris 7,8,9,10 and SunOS up to 2.6 ?

I am very proficient with Linux and in the past have used HPUX and SCO but not Sun. So thought I might want to get some more information.

Its "Solaris 2.6", after that they droped the "2." in the naming, so what should have been "Solaris 2.7" was simply renamed to "Solaris 7".
Solaris 2.6 is a very ancient OS.
Since its a 440MHz CPU it should be able to run the latest Solaris 10 release.

Just googled a bit and found some laptops with win 8 mm????? Found nothing else of interest. I searched Microsoft and found nothing. I'm wondering if it is MultiMedia or something similar.
If you find out post back I'd be interested in knowing.
Did a search on Dogpile.com and it seems it is pretty much exclusively Lenovo laptops no matter what the language of site it shows up in.

du musst versuchen die firmware von einem anderen pc aus zu installieren. ich hatte heute genau das gleiche problem. der player hat sich beim upgraden aufgeh?ngt und dann war nur die halbe firmware drauf. du musst die firmware l?schen bevor du die neue von einem anderen pc l?dst. das doofe ist nur, dass der player an meinem pc nicht richtig erkannt wird, im ger?tmanager von win xp steht zwar der player drin, aber ich kann weder ?ber den windows explorer, media player 0 oder eben media source organizer auf den player zugreifen. schlie?e ich den player nun an dem anderen pc an, wird der creative sofort erkannt. windows media player 0 will ihn sofort mit musik f?ttern und auch ?ber den windows explorer ist er nun per drag&drop bef?llbar. ich habe mittlerweile schon mein komplettes system neuinstalliert, aber auch das hat nichts gebracht. ich wei? nicht mehr was ich machen soll und warum der player nur an meinem pc nicht mehr funktionieren will. wenn er kaputt w?re oder so, dann w?rde er ja auch nicht an dem anderen pc funktionieren.

There are any number of programs that can create a PDF form. Adobe has Acrobat, LiveCycle Designer, LiveCycle ES, InDesign. Third party providers inlcude Open Office Org and Nitro PDF. It is even possible to add form fields in a PS file and have Distiller create the form. You might want to look at the Acrobat Users Community for tutorials and eSeminars about creating forms.

Calendar Server under Mavericks with Server 3.2.1 still insists on ssl. Users refuse to use it saying "Unsafe! Needs tls!"

Creative Suite 2 Upgrade... What versions will this upgrade work with?

I have an extra copy of CS2 Suite Upgrade that Adobe has said is a valid license and OK to sell to another user. I am having trouble figuring out what is the qualifying product the new owner would need to own in order to use this. The box says it is Adobe part number 18040402 and on the part label it says it upgrades CS 1.3, but on the printed box it says you must have CS 1.x.
So far I have not been able to get a clear answer from Adobe support regarding this specific part number. I also have not been able to find any info regarding this via Google. Just wondering if anyone might have some concrete info.
I don't want to tell someone this will work for CS Suite 1.0 and later discover it only works with CS
Suite 1.3.
If anyone can point me towards some conclusive info it would be much appreciated.

Hi, what is the source of your info please? This is an unregistered upgrade product that is not used by a previous owner. So far the support people at Adobe have told me it is OK to sell to someone who owns a qualifying product. Not trying to break any rules here... just want accurate info.

I have basically the same problem.
I have a server with the same COA sticker and part number on it. The server belongs to a client that is a County Court System.
The system drives have crashed. No one seems to have the Server installer discs.I have contacted other MicroSoft departments, trying desperately to get my hands on a disc set.
Everyone has been totally unhelpful, telling me that support has ended, or they cannot get disc because they do not have any, etc. etc.
This is all very ridiculous to me, because I am positive that MicroSoft certainly has ISOs of this set somewhere.
I have tried other versions of this Server Software disc sets, but they will not accept the key on the COA sticker, which of course leads me to believe that they are not the disc versions that I need.
Is there any chance that you could help us with this? This is an urgent matter, and it involves court records.

What program do you run?
Please contact the software provider to confirm if this 32-bit program can run in 64-bit Windows.
As some programs can only run in specific version of Windows, please download the right version of software.
Most programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows will work on the 64-bit version of Windows. Notable exceptions are many antivirus programs.
Device drivers designed for the 32-bit version of Windows don't work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows too.

What might cause this cross version, & cross platform inability to edit PDF?

Basic info: Our office is PC based using WIndows XP and Acrobat Pro 7.0 and I have created a simple PDF that is totally unrestricted to a book publisher. Latter is MAC based using X Pro and is able to open and move around our PDF, but is unable to use highlighter, comments, edit, etc. Publisher works with PDF files alot and claims that they have never had problems with any other submissions. The only "unusual" think I did in creating the PDF of a simple word doc is that in Acrobat Pro 7 I changed Initial View tab that File Title should display rather than the default file name; and in Properties filled in Title and Author fields. My hunch is that this simple change might be causing the symptoms being experienced.
While I am primarily looking for a solution, without trying to determine the cause it seems tougher to find solution other than trial-and-error.
Details: PDF does NOT have any interactive features and is 99% text with a few inserted JPG images. I realize in writing this there is another perhaps unusual aspect. Namely, we are still using MS Word 2003, AND we always make a copy of normal.dot, rename this to book_title.dot and have the word doc file for the book use that _____.dot so that in this way, the Styles that use and update are isolated to that particular book and its associated word.doc. I mention this, but don't think this is the culprit.
The steps in the whole process have been:
1) Close word doc for the book.
2) In Acrobat Pro create PDF from word.doc file
3) Make changes to Initial View, and Properties
4) Save PDF using Pros "Smallest File Size" choice.
In our office, we have opened a copy of the PDF sent to publisher in Adobe Reader and all looks "normal." We have opened it on a stand alone laptop (not connected to our server) and with Acrobat Pro 7 we are able ourselves to use highlighter, comments, editing, etc.
This really has me stumped. To add potentially further challenge with "compatibility" our office and publisher are in USA. Publisher needs to add some comments to the PDF file and then it will be sent to several different people in Europe to use the PDF file to make a translation of the book, and we have not even tried that step yet.
Since our office is 7.0 and not X, am I correct that the latter still allows one to create PDF and have Initial View show pdf Title rather than pdf File Name?
Your thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

@BillI I agree that it is puzzling. I think that @George has the answer and solution, unfortunately publisher will not look at things until this coming Tuesday so can not yet mark his post as "the correct answer" and be done with all of this craziness.

After writing above, I tried to learn some basics about PDF/A and now have some additional ?s to understand and unravel this puzzle fully.
1) PDF/A is a newer "more robust" pdf standard, right? In creating PDF file in Acrobat Pro 7.0, is there actually an option to check box that you want the conversion to meet this standard? In creating the PDF that has been problematic for publisher to edit, I, as the author, did NOT intentionally create a PDF/A file.
I did embed fonts (which for this document were kept to Times) to increase compatibility.
I did NOT restrict the PDF file i.e. Printing, Commenting, etc. were allowed.
It was also created as a Tagged PDF
I believe it is true that the extension .pdf does NOT tell you whether a file is PDF/A. You need to look at the properties of the actual file, OR with more current versions some Adobe products there is a color bar that would let you know.
2) If @George has the solution, I am delighted but still has me puzzled. If I did NOT actually create a PDF/A file, could the publisher themselves have done this in their MAX Acrobat X software, and then locked themselves out from using it? Let me try to explain ...
A) I sent PDF file, that we ourselves are able to edit in Acrobat Pro 7.0 on a different workstation from what had created the file in the first place. However 7.0 does not have the user preference that @George refers to.
B) Publisher opens original PDF file and then does a SaveAs, so that they would preserve what I had sent as an original. Can they have their MAC Acrobat X setup with predefined job options that would automatically create a PDF/A file? If yes, then even if I as the creator had not made a PDF/A file, the publisher (downstream) had done this with their SaveAs step. Then thereafter because of the setting that @George points to, they had locked themselves out of editing things.

I appreciate anyone who tries to add clarity to this. I think I had already mentioned in one of my posts, that solving this between us and Publisher in just the USA is only the first set of steps in this chain. The PDF file that publisher will add comments to, will then be sent to Europe to someone who is translating the book, and I have no idea of what operating system nor what version of Adobe they are using (and they might even be using Adobe).
Even if @George has solved the problem at the level of the Publisher, I expect that for the entire workflow that everything should be kept as a plain and simple PDF file, and have nothing in PDF/A "mode." For the current use we are not really trying to create a more archival storage of the content and appearance and so it seems that PDF/A has no advantage AND is creating some "compatibility" and usage problems.

Unless you deleted Address Book 6, or restored from a backup made before you upgraded to Lion, Address Book 6 should be on your disk somewhere. Try to find it with spotlight or by browsing likely folders with Finder. Also check Trash. If you find other Address Books, using Quick View or Get Info in Finder should show the version number.
Have you ever moved Address Book out of the Applications folder, either before or after you upgraded to Lion?
If you can't figure out how this happened in the first place, I would be worried that other OS X utilities are similarly affected.

What version is OS on this iPad2 without PC connection

I'm looking for an App that was proposed by the Clickfree external drive that sits connected to my PC which backs up daily everything on the computer. I read that they now have apps for both Android phone (now setup & running on my cell) but upon search in App Store, it didn't find anything. I'm interested in knowing how II successfully locate that app since my history with Clickfree is so very positive, I want to have them doing backup of iPad2 in addition to what is currently setup.
I was attempting to send similar message to iTunes but part of asking was need to know OS version on this iPad2, I don't recall. Without hooking up to PC, how do I discern the OS of this iPad2 which was a gift, new in Dec 2012. Currently, my PC has OS of XP 64 bit which has never been supported by iTunes. Once I do the upgrade to Windows 7, this issue will vanish. That upgrade is scheduled for later this month but I'm trying to solve issues today while I'm thinking about it. Hopefully nothing I've brought up today is a challenge to this community.

To reply to my own question! Since I'm looking at info under my typed message, it reads that my OS IS 5.0.1 which I did not decide to put there. Is that not the answer to my question? Is seems that info ought to be basic to check in settings but after assuming it would be listed, I did not find that in settings.

I downloaded CS2 from the Adobe site BEFORE this recent notice was posted and it is the only version that I have and use.
The new notice is VERY confusing, because if you were a prior purchaser of it originally, why would you need their newly supplied serial number (which is what I use since I was NOT a prior purchaser. But again, when I downloaded and installed CS2 there was no such notice).
I suggest that you see if it downloads, installs and works with that serial number, as free is always better than not! (especially since it is known that iMac G5's are prone to hardware failure from bad capacitors! I had many of them...)
