What version of mac mini needed to run iOS5 and iCloud

In order to be compatible with iPad, iPhone or iPod devices running iOS5 and iCloud, your Mac Mini has to be running Lion. In order to run Lion it must have a Core 2 Duo processor.

    Hi jackwyatt,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you would like to connect your MacBook Pro to a projector to output the display and sound, the cables and adapters you need will vary depending on the specific model MacBook Pro that you have.
I recommend this page for getting a good idea of which adapters you might need:

Power off and then back on the router
What happens when you enter the network's PW?
Try forgetting/deleting the network if necessary. To do that go to System Preferences>Network>wifi>Advanced and select the network and click on the minus sign

There is no download aside from the one in the Mac App Store available to people running Mac OS X 10.6.6 and newer. The other way of getting iPhoto 9 is to purchase iLife 11 on DVD. As iLife 11 requires Mac OS X 10.6.3 or newer, it's usually best to update to 10.6.8 for free and then use the Mac App Store version.

  • Is my mac mini capable of running a SSD

i have Mid 2011 Mac Mini 2.3 running lion and i would wanna know if i would be able to swap out the storage for a Solid State Drive

You don't need to change anything. The SSD looks like a hard drive to the system.
That said, I found that on my 2010 mini that it supported the SATA revision 2, 3 Gigabit/s standard. I initially installed an SATA revision 3, 6 Gbits/s, drive, which should have been backwards compatible. However, it only ran at SATA revision 1, 1.5 Gbits/sec. OWC said I needed to use the SATA revision 2 drive they sell, and exchanged the drives, no problem. The replacement drive runs at the max capacity of the mini, so it all works just fine now.
If you click on the apple on the left of the menu bar, about this mac, more info, system report, then Serial ATA, it will tell you what the link speed is, which is the max it can run. If 6 Gbits/s, that's SATA III, and if 3 Gbits/s, that's SATA II.

  • Looking for Mac mini that will run OS9

I'm looking for a Mac mini that will run OS9 for a legacy accounting application. If anyone has one for sale please let me know. Thanks.

For the amount of money you'd spend on VMWare, you could get a Mac that does boot Mac OS 9. Plus you need one just extract the ROM file necessary to run 9 on VMWare. Doing so, may be illegal, because the ROM chip is a proprietary design. Just get a Mac that boots into Mac OS 9, unless you know Classic is all you need. • How do you know what version Mac OSX is on ANOTHER drive?

How do you know what version Mac OSX is on ANOTHER drive without starting that drive
and seeing the system profiler? In fact, because the drive wont start up, Now I am wondering if it is pre-intel. ? CMD-I doesn't do it. Thanks

Why mess with this? Well, I got the HDDs and the enclosure from my previous PPC, so I'd like to make use of it all without $pending again.
I don't see any problems with using the card and drives on your new Mac. Hardware is too pricey to just leave behind if you can't help it. With the new drivers I suspect you'll be able to use your drives, I just don't think you'll be able to boot from them if the interface card requires drivers. They should still be very fast storage devices, and probably reliable due to the ongoing support the vendor has provided.
I went through the same type of issue when I bought my Dual G4 1.42 Tower (upgraded from a Quadra 840AV ). Several of my devices were SCSI (I was into SCSI Wide/Fast drive arrays at the time for video capture), and I was able to use an Adaptec card for scanning for several years with Jaguar and Panther. I'd spent quite a bit of cash to ensure high quality and performance and didn't want to loose all of the investment. Eventually the SATA hard drives and other USB and Firewire replacements became so cheap and performance improved enough that loosing SCSI with Tiger was not a big deal. I do think I should get about 5 years of hardware compatibility with most products and I keep older Mac's around for dedicated services as long as they aren't a costly maintenance issue.

That will put it back to its out of the box state. Set it up with your own apple Id.

You could use firefox 3.6, which is old but still supported and secure. However the best solution is to give up on using Google Toolbar because Google no longer support it with firefox, mainly because it has little to offer.
You can still save google bookmarks by copying them into Firefox. Please have a look at
    * [[google Toolbar is not compatible with Firefox]] <-- clickable link -- <br> which may help with some ideas and proposed solutions.
I am hoping the Norton report you refer to merely says your system has vulnerabilities, rather than that it has an actual infection (or that it has dealt with or quarantined any malware).

  • Where Do I Look to See What Version of iTunes I'm Running?

OK, probably a simple, simple answer (and perhaps a dopey question!) -- but where do I look to see what version of iTunes I'm running? I've looked in obvious places (on every tab in my itunes library, right clicked on itunes tab on desktop and checked properties). I actually have no clue as to what version I'm running.
Also, I'm debating about updating (uh, NO not to 7.7. or 7.7.1) but to an older version. Does anyone know what older version worked w/out all the 'bugs'? I've seen 7.6.something listed many times and folks saying that version worked great until they updated to 7.7. Did this version work ok? Thanks again.

"For the 'Registration' loop, I clicked the 'Never show message again' box."
Any way to conjur up this box? When I plug in my ipod, it just brings up the registration page. I click 'register later', and the page stays. I click 'never register' and the page stays. I click 'continue' and fill out information and click 'submit' and that last page just stays. It won't even let me cancel out of the page and just bring up my summary page. I'd gladly never see this message again but how do I do that?
"The only downside to downgrading to 7.6 is NOT having the Apps Store available in iTunes."
What is 'Apps Store'? Thanks again.

What version of UPK win 32  runs on XP , and where do i find a copy ?

The last version of UPK to support being run on Windows XP, is 11.1 service pack 2.  Technical specifications for this version can be seen here:

This version of UPK is no longer available from the http://edelivery.oracle.com site, but can be downloaded with the proper patch number.  To obtain this, please log a support case so we can provide this to you.

  • What's the latest thoughts on if the Mac mini needs an anti virus program?

What are the latest thoughts about downloading an anti virus program for the Mac mini?

A lot depends on your computer habits and those who
you have contact with.  Running the afore mentioned
software can provide a safety net.
These days, malware, Trojan horses, and phishing are
much greater a threat to Macs than viruses.   I'm not
saying that viruses are not possible, but they are not
    as profitable.
Bottom line, use common sense.  Don't install or open
anything you didn't request.  Avoid torrent sites.   Never
give out personal information except when you specifically
    request something that requires it.
Many large ISPs provide virus scanning of emails before
    they even reach your computer.
Determining the need of an antivirus program starts
with an evaluation of yourself and your habits.
PS.  I have worked with Windows computers from
NT thru Windows7 and never had an antivirus
program other than my own habits and have
            never been infected.

  • What spec Mac Mini would you recommend for running XCode 4?

Our organisation is starting to develop apps for IOS and the first step is purchasing a Mac to run XCode 4 on.
We are on a budget and the Mac Mini is within our price range but after some initial research we are concerned that we would need more RAM in order to run XCode 4 comfortably.
Below is the spec of the Mac Mini we are considering using:
    2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
    2GB memory
    500GB hard drive
    Intel HD Graphics 3000
    OS X Lion
Just wondering what people use to run XCode 4 and how happy they are with the performance.
    Many Thanks
    Richard

If your development will be iOS apps, the base model
should be more than sufficient provided you bump
up to at least 4 gig RAM, preferably 8.  However,
don't purchase the RAM from Apple as it is way over
priced.  Go to Newegg or OWC to purchase it.
If the app requires some signifigant graphics development
and need to use image processing software to create them,
I would suggest bumping up to the next model with the
    discrete graphics chip.
