What version of hardware is inside my router?

Hi, I have a WRT54GS router but I am unclear as to what version of of hardware is inside.  The label on the bottom clearly indicates that the model number is a WRT54GS but there is no version after that.  The serial number starts with CGN10D7xxxxx.  First I thought it was a v2, then I found something on the web that said it's a v1 based on the serial number, but then on the FCC label on the bottom of the router, it says FCC ID: WRT54GV2 and IC: 3839A-WRT54GV2.  So which is it?

If it doesn't list the version number on the Router, that means its an version 1 Router. Then also just for your confirmation login to the Router setup page and click on the Status tab and below it will display you the Firmware version of the Router. So based the current firmware version you can easily make out its a version 1 or version 2 Router.

Hi, I have been trying to update many things on my 2009 white macbook. Everytime I do it tells me I need a different version. I don't know what versions I need or even where to begin or if I need to purchase new hardware? It says my version is 10.5.8. I have tried downloading 10.6 but not sure what to do. Everyone else seems to be updating there's and mine is way behind however it still tells me I have no software updates...Any suggestions?

You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to 10.5.
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was based on Power PC code and was written to be able to run on both Power PC and Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.

  • What version router do I have?

    Hello,
I own a wireless G with speedbooster router (WRT54GS). I'd like to download the latest firmware upgrades. However, there are six versions of this router on the firmware download page to choose from. I'm not sure what version of the router I have? It's not printed anywhere on the router itself.
How can I find out what version of the router I have?
    Thanks,
    radicalkat

at the bottom of the router itself, there's a linksys logo... right below it, you will see the model number plus the version number.. it's kinda small print..

  • WRE54G - Computer IP replaces Expander IP -- WPC - What Version?

I got a WRE54G V.3 last week and have been trying to connect it to a 2WIRE (2701HG-B) router since then. I thought I got it working the other night but have discovered a problem since then. When I try to use 2 computers at once with the range expander only one will work. After a little investigation, I noticed that the IP address for the expander that shows up on the 'device list' of the router is the IP address of the computer that is connected through the expander. The 'device list' says that the IP address for the computer is 'not set'. The router also does not see the name of the expander. Instead of showing the name I assigned it, it says 'unknown' followed by the expanders MAC address. I did uploaded the latest Firmware, so that’s not the problem. Its like the router doesn't know the expander is there and that the expander is acting like a high powered antenna connected to only one active computer. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Also, when I originally used the 'setup disk' for the WRE it messed up all of my connection configurations which made me have to reinstall both my wireless and Ethernet adapter drivers. I have a WPC54G wireless adapter for my laptop but it doesn't say specifically what version it is. The FCC ID is PKW-WPC54G-2 so I guessed that it is a version 2 and reinstalled the latest drivers offered for version 2. Was I correct in assuming that the card is a version 2? The new driver I installed came with a Linksys utility to find networks but its not working and I prefer to use the Windows wireless configuration utility. To use the windows utility I check the box on the properties page for the wireless connection but it will switch back to the Linksys utility and stop working by itself. Is there anyway to use the driver but use the Windows utility as your default? To summarize: 1. How do I fix the IP problems for the WRE54G? 2. Is my WPC54G version 2? 3. Can I set the 'Windows Wireless Network Configuration Utility' as my default utility with the new WPC54G Driver (6.0.0.18 8/26/2004), or do I have to use the Linksys utility?

Answer 1 : Really not quite sure about this ....
Answer 2 : turn the card upside down and check the model number .. the model number would be WPC54G and if there v2/v3/v4 after it it means that the card is version 1 ....
Answer 3: As you windows xp , go to start >> programs >> uninstall wireless notebook adapter.... insert the CD for the adapter ...take the card out and insert it back again.... follow the instructions on the found new hardware wizard ... this will install the drivers for the adapter and then you can use the windows wireless configuration utility to connect to the wireless network ....

  • What version of windows is best to run on an Early 2008 IMac?

What version of Windows is best to run on an Early 2008 IMac? And should I use Boot Camp, Parallels, or VMWare? My IMac will be a secondary computer now that I got a new IMac. The Early 2008 IMac is an Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB memory, and 2.66 ghz processor speed. It is also running OSX 10.9.5 and Boot Camp is version 5.1.2.
I mostly want to do this so I can get rid of an old Windows machine that I just use to run Quicken on. I think I need to do this since Intuit does not support online bill pay for Apple versions of Quicken.
I am average with computers so any help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rocco

Bootcamp gives you access to underlying hardware on the iMac unlike VMware or Parallels. It does require reboot. Most VM engines let you take a Bootcamp Windows and run it as VM where a reboot can be avoided. With 2GB of memory, you should be able to Windows 7, but I would not recommend W8.
You may also want to look at - Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems.

  • How do you know what version Mac OSX is on ANOTHER drive?

How do you know what version Mac OSX is on ANOTHER drive without starting that drive
and seeing the system profiler? In fact, because the drive wont start up, Now I am wondering if it is pre-intel. ? CMD-I doesn't do it. Thanks

Why mess with this? Well, I got the HDDs and the enclosure from my previous PPC, so I'd like to make use of it all without $pending again.
I don't see any problems with using the card and drives on your new Mac. Hardware is too pricey to just leave behind if you can't help it. With the new drivers I suspect you'll be able to use your drives, I just don't think you'll be able to boot from them if the interface card requires drivers. They should still be very fast storage devices, and probably reliable due to the ongoing support the vendor has provided.
I went through the same type of issue when I bought my Dual G4 1.42 Tower (upgraded from a Quadra 840AV ). Several of my devices were SCSI (I was into SCSI Wide/Fast drive arrays at the time for video capture), and I was able to use an Adaptec card for scanning for several years with Jaguar and Panther. I'd spent quite a bit of cash to ensure high quality and performance and didn't want to loose all of the investment. Eventually the SATA hard drives and other USB and Firewire replacements became so cheap and performance improved enough that loosing SCSI with Tiger was not a big deal. I do think I should get about 5 years of hardware compatibility with most products and I keep older Mac's around for dedicated services as long as they aren't a costly maintenance issue.

  • What good is it to have a router that doesn't block mac addresses like its supposed too!!!

what good is it to have a router that doesn't block mac addresses like its supposed too!!!

At 10:30pm I think I'd like to talk this out....Lemme give you some more details and lets get some hardware programmers involved. I think this is a cross-platform conflict or at the remote a outdated hardware problem. What do you need from me to track this issue down? I have been patient and have waited over 1yr or maybe 2, waiting for an update to correct this issue. Alas, there has been no solution to this problem. I have 13 seperate MAC addy's on the network. 1 wired and the the rest wireless(some constant, others random). All on a schedule(some timed access, some all the time). I have macBooks, Labtops, Desktops, Ipads, Ipods, DSIs, Windows7, WindowsXP Pro, PS3, AppleTV and a few random BlueTooths. Not that much.
Anyways, I think somehow there is a hole because of cross-platfom compatability that is making my daughter able to get on the net unless I change the wireless password......
No I have no proof...It's just a feeling

  • What versions of Java are supported on Intel EM64T processors?

We cannot get Java running on a machine with Intel Xeon EM64T processors, even though we are running the 32 bit version of RedHat. Version 1.4.2_04 always hangs the cpu on a call to JNI_CreateJavaVM. Version 1.4.2_09 does not hang here, but we get call kinds of other java crashes. We can't go to Java version 1.5 because we have a lot of other software that will not run on this release yet.
Does anyone have a definitive answer on what versions are supported on this hardware? Either in Linux or Windows.
Our assumption that because this processor can run in 32 bit mode with a 32 mode OS, then it should work just like any Intel architecture, seems to have been wrong.

Forgot to mention I was using Oracle 10g AS (9.0.4)

  • How can I verify what version of IE11 (32 or 64) is running on a 64 bit version of Windows 7

    Hello,
I recently upgraded from IE8 to IE 11. In the past when I would run ie8 from the Programs(86) folder it would indicate it was the the 32 bit version in the task manager by having an entry for iexplorer.exe *32
For IE11, the *32 does not show in the task manager.
How can I verify IE11 is running in *32 mode? I am trying to troubleshoot some active X controls that have known problems with IE11 *64 but I can't seem to verify which version  I am running. Note I launch IE11 from the Program Files (86) directory
but I still would like some verification on what version is actually running. I am concerned because I am not seeing the *32 in task manager.

In IE10+, on a 64bit PC the frame (outer window) is always 64bit. The tabs are generally 32bit unless you've enabled Enhanced Protected Mode or are running inside Win8+ Metro environment.

  • How can I look at old labview Vis and tell what version they were written with?

Someone gave me some code from about 1998/99...need to determine what version it was writtern in and if I can run the same vi with labview 8.0?

The above link will give you the original version, something you might not really need to even know.
For the second part of your question " ...and if I can run the same vi with labview 8.0", the logical procedure would be to simply try to open it in LabVIEW 8.0. Takes a few seconds for an instant answer.
Most often, this works without any problems. In the worst case the VI is slightly broken and you need to tweak a few minor things.
What does the code do? Is it plain computation? Does it involve interaction with hardware (DAQ, etc.)?

The  wording is confusing. I just tried one of the DLs and it is working. Whether it will actually install now, I have no idea. If the activation servers have been disabled (because of a technical issue), probably not. Whether this is only temporary, I have no idea. I would think Adobe would just withdraw the entire page if they wanted. From the time this first appeared a few weeks ago until now I know it was working and could be installed using the provided serial #s. There was nothing about needing to actually have purchased it originally.
    Ginger:
I downloaded CS2 from the Adobe site BEFORE this recent notice was posted and it is the only version that I have and use.
The new notice is VERY confusing, because if you were a prior purchaser of it originally, why would you need their newly supplied serial number (which is what I use since I was NOT a prior purchaser. But again, when I downloaded and installed CS2 there was no such notice).
I suggest that you see if it downloads, installs and works with that serial number, as free is always better than not!   (especially since it is known that iMac G5's are prone to hardware failure from bad capacitors! I had many of them...)

I don't know how strict the OS requirements are. I do know that my old G5 iMac, even upgraded to Leopard, was able to run CS2. In fact, using Rosetta, CS2 still runs on my Snow Leopard.
As you can see from the image, CS2 is running in my Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) environment in Parallels concurrently with Lion.

  • Upgrade to CS2, what version of photoshop do i need?

I have just bought Creative suite 2 premium, it is new and sealed, but the seller didnt tell me I would need a copy of photoshop to use this software as an upgrade. What version of photoshop do I need? and could I get away with an elements version of photoshop for the upgrade as this would save me £££.
    Cheers

    CS2 is not vista compatible.
    BTW, shrink-wrap machinery is cheap.
Thirty-five years ago a company called Sam Goody had unbelievable sales
on records (now known as vinyl). They were advertised weekly in the NY
Times and other newspapers. The records came in original sealed
packages. The chain of Sam Goody stores was eventually convicted of
bootlegging their disks. That was how they were able to afford their
sales. They weren't paying the distributors for many of the disks sold.
I used to buy hardware from another well-known electronics store in NY.
I always bought new. I was having trouble with a certain company's VCR.
The VCRs were all shrink-wrapped in original boxes. After returning 5
VCRs, one of the guards took pity on me and told me that I should stop
trying to get that model VCR since at this point I was likely getting
one of the same VCRs that I returned. That was over 20 years ago.
If shrink-wraping machines were available then---they are probably
    prolific now.
Shrink-wrap, bar codes, part numbers are no guarantee that something is
not bootleg. That is why Microsoft goes through great lengths to create
seals that are hard to replicate. If a deal is too good, there is a
reason for it. Just a heads up.

  • What version of Photoshop to use?

    Hello,
I "used to be" a professional photographer but am now retired.  I would like to get into using Photoshop but don't know what version to use.  Can someone help?  I have an HP w/AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor w/6GB RAM and all the bells & whistles that go along with that.
    Thanks,

Your just starting you need to ask yourself a couple of question. How serious do you think you want to get into post processing.  If you want to alter images things like removing objects, adding objects replaceing backgrounds then you will need a good editor and have a lot to learn.  If on the other hand you just want to enhance yout images so develop your images better then to come from your camera you get by with less.
in anycase Adobe is the gold standard when it comes to Image processing and you can download 30Day free trials of the products.  However you not going to learn any of then well in 30 days.
My suggestion would be to buy alicence for Photoshop Elements.  It a subset of Photoshop with a price around $100 compaired to $700 for Photoshop. Anything tou learn in Photoshop Element will go a long way if after a year or so you deside you need full blown Photoshop.   Photoshop Element has a little more hand holding for the novice user then Photoshop which has none.  With Elements you can also use Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) with some minor limitations to develop you RAW files into RGB images.   If you find that all you wind up doing you may wing just needing Lightroom alonf with Elements for Editing for removeing, adding and replacing objects. Lightroom is onle $300 has great image organiastion feature using databases and an output module the has some niced fretures for createinf I beleive slideshows, Web Photo Galleries and prints. I don't use Lightroom or Elements I just user Photoshop.
Right now your better of with Element to learn Photoshop. The Latest version of Photoshop CS6 is very buggy and there issue with some hardware and software  you need to be careful to meet the right hardware requirements and install the proper drivers.  You did not state which Video card you machine has.  Check Adobe Web site to see if they have tested the card your machine has. Adobe is working on fixing CS6 who knows by the time you learn Photoshop maybe CS6 will be fixed or there will be a newer better Photoshop.
