What version of Lion is available from Internet Recovery?

Is there a way to check beforehand which version of Lion is downloaded when you reinstall the OS through Internet Recovery. On 6/2/2012 this is still 10.7.2 even though the version available on the Mac App Store is already at 10.7.3.

Hi, I was just wondering what are the newest editions of books that are available from this site specifically and the developers of Java.
I was looking at the shop from this site just, but all of the editions of books seem to be old compared to those that I have found on Amazon.

What's the sudden requirement that the books be from Sun? I've found that books from O'Reilly and APress are often better than those from Sun. For beginners, the O'Reilly "Head First" series is one of the best and the easiest to read.

What version of iphoto or what software do I need to download images from my EOS 20 D Canon camera onto my computer? I currently have iphoto 2.

Change the Image Capture pref to open iPhoto instead of PS CS, and find out. I don't know the answer, not having a 20D or iP 2 myself.
Have you installed Canon's proprietary software that came with the 20D? There may be a driver included in that software bundle that's required for your camera to talk to your Mac via USB.
It is possible, as you suggest, that iPhoto 2 doesn't support the significantly newer 20D. But if you change the Image Capture setting and install the software that Canon supplied, you should be able to find out whether or not that's true in fairly short order.

Install Mavericks from Internet Recovery

Hi there hope somebody can help me,
I am trying to install OS X Mavericks on my MacBook Pro 2010 model using the internet recovery as i have no OS installed and no Recovery partition.
When i try to install Mavericks im asked to login with my apple ID, however i have not activated Mavericks on my account so cannot proceed.
I dont have access to any other mac to activate the download on my account and my nearest apple store is over a 1 hour drive.
Please can someone with a Mac create a new apple ID for me and activate Mavericks on it using the mac app store so that i can proceed?

That is completely false information. The OP has a 2010 Mac notebook that came with Snow Leopard. Even if he can access the Online Internet Recovery system from that 2010 model (Some can and Some Can NOT) he still would not be able to install any of the Downloaed Only version of OS X (Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks)
He needs the Original System Reinstall DVD disc Set that came with his system or a Replacement set of them.

Help Installation From Internet Recovery ML 10.8

Hello. I changed my Mac HDD because the other one was corrupted. BUt when i do the internet recovery install, the bar on OS X Mountain Lion Istall Page (Downloading Additional Components) goes all the way to the end when it says remaining 0 seconds and then the minutes go up again like 43 min remaining but the progress bar is stuck at the end of the bar. Like it is in a download loop. HELPPPP PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Erased my Harddisk, coudnt reinstall Mac Os Lion from internet recovery as it says "Could not find installation information on this Machine"

Hi, i just got this Macbook Pro last October and recently i wanted to have a clean install of Mac Os Lion so i erased my harddisk in disc utilities, and found myself unable to install back Mac Os Lion from the internet.. It says 'Coudnt get installation information on this machine', I don't think my internet is the issue as ive tried installating it in both of my houses :/. Tried asking my friend.. he ended up screwing things up in Disc Utilities. If i recall carefully.. My Disc utilities used to look like this

but now its just

The fix is to use Disk Utiilty to make the Lion Partition a tiny bit smaller.

Mountain Lion still available from App store?

Hi. I purchased Mountain Lion from the App Store sometime last year, but for some reason that I can't remember, didn't install it. It might have been because I read somewhere that although it was a little quicker than Lion, it was also less secure.
Anyway, Mavericks was introduced and I downloaded that instead.
By some reckoning, my MacBook is a bit light on in memory (2GB) for Maverick to function at its best. Some time after installing Maverick, I tried to download Mountain Lion from the App Store but it wouldn't let me. Is there any way I can get the OS which, after all, I have paid for?

I'm using Mavericks. There are some things I like about Mavericks, but there has been a distinct performance drop since installing it on both my iMac and laptop. I don't like the new Pages and the latest Yosemite-compatible version of Pages seems to bring no improvements in word-processing matters and, if anything, looks even worse (I installed Yosemite just to see if the new Pages was worth having, since I use Pages a lot for my dissertation and other things).
So, I don't need Yosemite for the new Pages, and am going back at least to Mavericks but preferably to Mountain Lion. Lion was my favorite upgrade, but Mountain Lion, which I purchased but didn't download, I haven't tried.
It downloads onto my Macbook, but when I try to install it I get messages indicating the version is too new or simply that I can't install onto this computer. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact message. I will try to install it again by other means and let you all know how it goes.

Is it possible to install, license and use Photoshop and Premiere Pro (CC versions) in systems permanently disconnected from Internet?

We have military systems without any internet connectivity at all where we would like to use these products. License activation via phone or export/import of license files could possibly be acceptable but not preferred.
Are there any important limitations to be aware of it it can be made to work?

The software needs to have periodic internet access in order to confirm the subscription remains in good standing.

Oracle iExpenses - Access from Internet

Hi Experts,
I would like to enable the iexpenses module to be available from Internet (and not only through Intranet). i.e. I would wish my employees to enter their expense reports from anywhere in the world through Web and not only, when they are connected to my company's intranet.
What are the necessary setups to be performed for this.
Any inputs/suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

iExpenses uses Disconnected Expense Reporting.
Basically the users can download an excel template from iExpenses. Put their expense details and later import into the Applications when they are in Intranet.

How to tell what version of Mac OSX?

I am a person who works for a university here in the US. Alot of the times, I have macs that dont boot, but I can see the data from the hard drive, via an external dock. Is there a way to tell what version of the OS is from a strictly file level? Without being booted into the OS?

If the computer's booted into an OS which doesn't support that(not all Mac OS X versions do), open the file /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist in any text editor.

Disk Utility in Internet Recovery mode cannot properly detect new hard drive

I intend to format my new hard rive and install OS X into it.
Here is my problem, I bought a new 1TB HGST 7200rpm hard disk and put into the macbook. I boot up under Internet recovery mode, under the disk utility I tried format to MacOS Extended Journaled but it takes ages (stuck for more than 15 minutes). I simply just cannot get the macbook to read the drive under disk utility from Internet recovery mode.
Here are the things that I have tried:
1. Boot the MacBook from old drive, successfully use the disk utility to zero out format (MacOS Extended Journaled) with 1 partition (GUID). But when I boot the Mac under Internet recovery mode, the disk utility simply cannot mount the drive.
2. Restore the new drive (as an external drive) from the old drive using disk utility, successfully restore. I could startup the new disk as an external drive, but when I put it into the Mac it shows flashing folder. I waited for more than 30 minutes, the flashing folder just stays there.
3. Boot the MacBook on Internet recovery mode and connect the new drive as external drive, no problem. I reinstall OS X into it but it midway it stop and error message says something like cannot add additional components.
Not sure what is the problem, I think I have exhausted all method. There is no issue with the new hard drive and MacBook.

The MacBook is early 2013. It came with 1TB Mountain Lion, I left the DVD in my country so I don't have it with me. How do I download the installer? the Mac App Store only lets me upgrade the OS to Maverick.
I have tried to restore the new drive from my old drive, but the only way is to use Internet Recovery. The Disk Utility boot from the old drive OS (Mountain Lion) does not allow me to restore my new hard drive from the old (current boot) drive, the message instruct me to use the Internet recovery mode. From here I can see my new drive format as GUID, but when I boot to Internet Recovery the Disk Utility recognised my new drive format as Master Boot Record instead of GUID...?????

Well it got down to 3 hours 6 mins remaining and that was after about an hour of running (it was actually installing lion for me) then it began going up slowly clear up to three and a half hours. So i decided to try using an ethernet connection and now I cant even get internet recovery to recognize that there is internet and it keeps putting an exclaimation point in the globe and saying -4403F. Ive tried going through the process several times and I am lost. Can someone please help me. I do have an open case with Apple Care but I want to get this up and running tonight if possible and they are closed.

"Regular" Recovery (from the Recovery partition on your Hard drive or your Time Machine Backup) remains available, but Internet Recovery (from firmware only) is not a feature on the silver tower Mac Pro. It is not on this list:
