What version of Oracle Application Server do I begin with?

OS: HP-UX 11.11
I want to install Oracle Application Sever 10g but not sure what version to begin with? Can anyone help?

Grant,
I have noticed that the Installation of OAS Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0) there are files missing, such as EMCTL
And there are other issues like logging into the Enterprise Manager (invalid password) when the password is correct.
I am going out of my mind trying to get this configured so I thought going back to Release 2 where some of these files are prevalent
Any suggestions

  • What versions of Oracle Application Server suite to install on Windows 2008

    Hello everyone!
Now I want to install Oracle Application Server on Windows Server 2008.
I downloaded 10.1.3.1.0 SOA suite, and also downloaded the patchset for 10.1.3.4, I'm working on windows server 2008,its version is 6.0. and 11g database release(11.1.0.6.0)(installed).
But when I try to install SOA suite, it give me error on 1st screen of universal installer as “checking operating system version: must be 5.0,5.1 or 5.2. actual 6.0 failed<<<< Press enter to exit”.
And when I try to install patchset for 10.1.3.4. It does not show any version problem, but it give me a Error message “There are no patches that need to be applied from the patchset oracle app server patchset 10.1.3.4.0 “,after screen “Specify file locations”.
Please tell me how to install successfully what kind of Oracle AS on Windows Server 2008!
    Thanks so much!

Please see the following note on Metalink for most updated Certification Matrix for the OS, your machine and Oracle AS products.
    Note Id: 742649.1
If you are using an AMD 64bit machine, then paritcularly check line 88. If you have an intel, see particularly 125 and 126 to see the relevant patches to be applied before installation of your type of AS software.
    hope that helps!

  • Version of Oracle application server

    Hi,
How to find the version of Oracle application server installed on RedHat Linux AS machine and Sunsolaris10 machine?
    Regards,
    Mathew

    Matthew,
If you have the application server installed, then you can query from the sys schema on the machine where you have your metadata repository installed (infra-home) to see the versions as follows:
    select *
    from app_registry;
for checking portal version, you can alternatively go to Builder page/ 'Administer' tab/ 'Portal' option/ 'Services' portlet/'Global Settings' - link. The resulting page will be taking you in the Main tab. Here look at the very bottom and you will see something like this.
    Version Information
Oracle Portal Version: 10.1.4.0.0 (Build: 594)
    hope that helps.

  • Do older versions of Oracle Application Server support Containers for J2EE?

Do older versions of Oracle 9iAS support Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE (OC4J)?
I went to the our companies application server directory. I don't see an oc4j or j2ee directory.
    Thanks,
    Merced

How far back are you looking? ANd what, in particular, are you looking for ...
The history of the Oracle 'internet service' that I remember is roughly:
    Web Server 2.1 (mid 1990s)
Web Application Server 3.x (mid 1990s)
Oracle Application Server 4.0.x (late 1990s)
Oracle Internet Application Server 1.0.x (2000)
Oracle Application Server 8i (basically 1.0.2.22.2.z)
    Oracle Application Server 9i (9.0.2, 9.0.3)
    Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4, 10.?.1)
Oracle had an initial J2EE container [attempt] with 4.0.x but that never really took off. I think that was really around the time of the last beta revisions for the JSP spec, and that's left us with the legacy of JServ apps. Seems like you would see OJSE, Oracle JSE (Java Server Engine?) in the docco and path.
IIRC, the current OC4J lineage started with around IAS 1.0.2 and has moved forward on what is now OC4J. There were some opportunities in the early days to improve consistency in the naming and directory structure areas. That has some lineage from Ironflare's Orion engine and so occasionally you see 'Orion' in the messages.

  • Installation of  10.1.3 version of oracle application server

    Hi
I have to install this version of apps server.
    I went to this link
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/index.html
I need to know the files are .bin files
Can i just unzip them using unzip utility or how to extract the files

You should be able to execute the .bin file directly. Change the mode to make sure it is executable (chmod +x fileName.bin) and then run the file normally (./fileName.bin).
    Thanks

  • Install and configure report service on Oracle Application Server 10g

i want to know how to install and configure report service on Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0)
    Thanks

the case is that we developed an ADF Application, so we want to deploy it on the latest version of Oracle Application server.
our application communicate with Oracle reports (run oracle reports from our Application) as there are no Oracle report products for JEE Application.
so if there are not report service that can run on Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0),
what is the other choices that oracle supports that can help us in this case ???

  • Does Oracle Application Server (10.1.3.4.0) support JSF 1.2?

Sorry for the double post, but I realized this was more appropriate in the OC4J forum so posted it there. Not sure how to delete this one :-(.
I am trying to migrate from JSF 1.1 to JSF 1.2 on OC4j 10.1.3.4.0 and am running in to problems. I recently stumbled on this post:
    http://kjvarga.blogspot.com/2008/12/oc4j-1013-does-not-support-jsf-12.html
    Which reads as follows:
I spent a very frustrating day wading through the version soup that is JavaServer Faces and trying to deploy a JSF 1.2 app on on OC4J 10.1.3 container. To save you a lot of time, OC4J DOES NOT SUPPORT JSF 1.2.
This technical paper explains that OC4J 10.1.3 (all versions) supports Servlet 2.4, JSP 2.0 and JSF 1.1.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/whitepapers/OC4J-FOV-10131.pdf
And this handy webpage explains that "JSF 1.2 is the latest release and it works with servlet 2.5 and jsp 2.1". So obviously it's not compatible. It also details all the versions of Java technologies that each JSF version relies upon.
    http://www.roseindia.net/jsf/jsf-versions.shtml
Is this true? I can't use the JSF spec released in 06 on the most current version of oracle application server? Could someone please confirm/deny/shed some light?
    Thanks so much,
    Yeuker

Found a bit more information located here:
    http://wiki.glassfish.java.net/Wiki.jsp?page=JavaServerFacesRI
    See the section entitled
"Do I have to use a JSP 2.1/Servlet 2.5 container with the Mojarra version 1.2?" which states:
If you're using JSPs for your view descriptions, then yes, you will need to use a JSP 2.1/Servlet 2.5 compliant container. However, if you're using another view technology, such as Facelets or JSFTemplating, you can run JSF 1.2 within a Servlet 2.4 container with out issue.
Now here is the part that may make me look like a newb... not sure if I am "using JSP's for my view descriptions"... what does that mean anyway?
I dont think I am not using Facelets or JSFTemplating. I'm just using standard JSF... All of my pages end in jsp and the standard faces servlet that makes all *.faces requests go through the faces controller servlet. There is really no JSP EL code in my faces pages, just standard jsf tags h:form, f:selectItems, h:inputText etc...
So my question is... am I using JSP's for my view descriptions?

  • Connect oracle application server 10g with oracle database 9i

Hello, I am doing a project with Oracle Application Server and application server can not connect with my Oracle 9i database, how do my version of Oracle Application Server is the 10g, thanks for the help and excuse my English

Well, now it depends how do you want to access your 9i database from Application Server via J2EE application deployed at Application Server or via Portal.
For J2EE application, you can use connect string for your 9i database in datasources.xml of J2EE app.
For Portal application, again it depends what you want to do - create an data entry application or just want to fetch a report based on 9i database.
Hope I have provided answer to your question.
    Regards.

  • Deploying Web services on Oracle Application Server

    Hi,
I am not sure whether this is the forum where I should post this question.
I am trying to deploy a webservice on Oracle iAS version1.0.0. But when I navigate to Oracle CRM Administrator(responsibility)-->Integration-->services I get a message telling that the server needs to be upgraded to version 1.0.2.2
I would like to know, from which version of Oracle Application server is the web services supported.
    Thanks in advance
    Pratheusha

Web Services are supported on IAS (OC4J) 9.0.4, 10.1.2 and 10.1.3. The 10.1.3 web services stack supports the JAX-RPC standard while prior versions supported a proprietary programming model.
What type of webservice are you trying to deploy?

  • Unable to start Oracle Application Server processes

I am having the same problem that a number of people have
mentioned concerning ORA-20214 Unable to start OAS processes ...
The problem seems related to Windows NT 4.0 SP4. One developer
mentioned a specific Oracle Bug #768386 that had something to do
with the yt40.dll. Does anyone know how I can get this patch?
Has anyone gotten OAS to work on SP4 without this patch? Thanks
for any assistance you can provide.

    Dear James, Anirudh,
Right now I have installed this two syned version.
Oracle Application Server SOA suite 10.1.3.1.0
    JDev 10.1.3.1.0
Problem is, I have deployed complete Application server, But I am receiving the following errors.
*No OC4J process up for AS instance identified by domain:
    opmn-orabpel+oc4j-anne-8888-default*
    1. Actually i gave instance name as --> orabpel
    username as --> oc4jadmin
    password --> welcome1
But when I trying to connect server with mentioned instance name, I am not able to connect. Is there any specification to set instance name in SOA suite 10.1.3.1.0. Also please suggest how to start my Application server.
    2. My doubt is while creating Application server connection from JDEV what we have to select
    1. Standalone OC4J 10g 10.1.3
    2. Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.3
    3. From the beginning itself my application server status was down. I cant able to understand the under laying issues.
    Please suggest me..
    Thanks,

I was unable to find which version of oracle application server forms and reports should i install to run.

Application server 10.1.3 does not have Forms. You should install 10.1.2.0.2 version. See Re: Forms / Reports services in 10gAS Release 3
