What version should I see in help- about for most recent?

I just did a check for updates and installed a bunch of new things and this is what it says now 1.1.2.25 main-25-79. Why doesnt it say 1.1.3.27.66? I click check for updates and there is nothing to upgrade to?

To see the actual version installed, select Help -> About but ignore the details displayed on the About tab (they are from the last full install you did - I get "Version 1.1.2.25") - instead select the Extensions tab. Scroll down until you find the "extension" called "Oracle SQL Developer" and the version you have installed will be displayed in the version column (I get "1.1.3.27.66").

The  wording is confusing. I just tried one of the DLs and it is working. Whether it will actually install now, I have no idea. If the activation servers have been disabled (because of a technical issue), probably not. Whether this is only temporary, I have no idea. I would think Adobe would just withdraw the entire page if they wanted. From the time this first appeared a few weeks ago until now I know it was working and could be installed using the provided serial #s. There was nothing about needing to actually have purchased it originally.
    Ginger:
I downloaded CS2 from the Adobe site BEFORE this recent notice was posted and it is the only version that I have and use.
The new notice is VERY confusing, because if you were a prior purchaser of it originally, why would you need their newly supplied serial number (which is what I use since I was NOT a prior purchaser. But again, when I downloaded and installed CS2 there was no such notice).
I suggest that you see if it downloads, installs and works with that serial number, as free is always better than not!   (especially since it is known that iMac G5's are prone to hardware failure from bad capacitors! I had many of them...)

I don't know how strict the OS requirements are. I do know that my old G5 iMac, even upgraded to Leopard, was able to run CS2. In fact, using Rosetta, CS2 still runs on my Snow Leopard.
As you can see from the image, CS2 is running in my Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) environment in Parallels concurrently with Lion.

  • What version should be used on a Desktop Mac Intel Core running OS 10.8.5 and from where can I securely download it?

The desktop Mac I just bought used from a dealer came with Safari but I prefer to use Firefox. What version should I be using? The Mac is running OS 10.8.5. Please provide a trusted link I may use to download and properly install the correct version. Thanks.

    Hello,
The latest version of Firefox is 32.0.3. You can download a fresh copy of Firefox at:

  • My MacBook purchased in May 2009 has OSX version 10.5.8  What version should I purchase to upgrade?

My MacBook purchased in May 2009 has OSX version 10.5.8  What version should I purchase to upgrade?

    Start with Snow Leopard:
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later

  • What version of Itunes is the best one for m4a encoding?

What version of Itunes is the best one for m4a encoding?

In that all versions of iTunes support ripping or converting to .m4a (both AAC and Apple Lossless) and in that the latest version is likely to included bug fixes and optimisations, I would say the answer is always going to be the latest version.
An area where there maybe a need to consider using an older version is that older versions of Windows are no longer supported by the latest versions of iTunes. For example Windows 2000 is no longer supported but Windows XP and later still are.

  • I just lost all recent updates to my iCal from the last days. Can this possibly happen ??? What can I do to restore iCal with the most recent updates?

Hello All, yesterday afternoon I just lost all recent updates to my iCal from the last days. How can this possibly happen ??? It may have occured after I chose the Refresh function after I had problems searching my iCal for a particular event. I think my iPhone was also not properly synched in the morning but I didn't pay it much attention and opened iCal on my MacBookAir instead.
How can I prevent this from happening again?
What can I do to restore iCal with the most recent updates?

Random glitch.  It doesn't matter; if you didn't backup the data, then you can't recover the data.
In the future, for any 'important' data, back up that data regularly.  Forward the 'important' text messages to your email.  Trasnfer your photos & videos to your computer, etcetera.

  • What impact should I see when my Ipad mini is associated to my Wife's Apple ID

    I have a 64gb Ipad mini
My wife has a 16gb Ipad with retina
Both me and my wife have purchased tv shows in iTunes using my Ipad mini and have both downloaded content to that device.
My Ipad mini shows in my wife's iTunes account as being associated with her Apple ID.
To date, I can't see that I have been impacted by that association because we can both log in and out of iTunes on that device, download TV series and play those shows.  With my device being associated with my Wife's Apple ID, what impact should it have on me?
I've been corresponding with Apple for over two weeks and am still no closer being given an answer that makes any sense   I just seems that I am being given stock answers to another question
I have been given links to many help articles that have been directly and indirectly relevant to my query, but they don't answer my question.  I've also read through the community support forum, but there's nothing that I can find that relates to my question.
We are both new to Apple products, iTunes is new territory for us.  I simply want to understand whether or not our shared use of my Ipad mini will create a problem that locks either one of us out of certain content.  We'd rather know this up front so that we make an informed choice of whether to continue purchasing hard copies or start using iTunes for purchasing TV shows.
    Additional information:
We have Apple TV (3rd gen)

    John

I found this article for you on the iTunes support website at:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww

    Hi Japple,
A long time ago, which iTunes account you used to make purchases was important due to the DRM that Apple used at the time.  Now that most music on the iTunes Store is DRM-free the distinction of which account was used to purchase the music is irrelevant.  Songs can be copied freely to as many computers and devices that you own.
Movies and TV shows, however, are not all DRM free.  They have Apple's FairPlay DRM embedded.  What does this mean for you?  Probably not much.  You can authorize up to five computers to play a video file downloaded from either of your iTunes accounts.  iTunes itself keeps track of the associations and, if you change devices in the future, it's very easy to dissociate your accounts in the iTunes Store.
Let me give you an example of how this works.  Let's say my wife buys a CD and a movie from iTunes and I want it on my computer in my library too.  First thing I need to do is copy the files to my machine and add them to my iTunes library (File --> Add to Library, I believe).  When I try to play the music, they'll work immediately, no more configuration required.  When I try to play the movie, however, iTunes will ask me to associate my computer with my wife's Apple ID (if I haven't already done so in the past).  To associate my computer, all I need to do is enter her Apple ID and password into the dialog box that pops up and I'm good to go.  Now I can play that file in my iTunes on my computer without any trouble.  I can also download it to my iOS devices (iPad, iPod, iPhone) seamlessly.
An Apple TV is different than the other iOS devices in that its primary purpose is to stream files from computers, other iOS devices, or the iTunes Store directly.  The Apple ID that you associate with your Apple TV is only relevant to the purchases you make from the iTunes Store and if you turn on Home Sharing.  But both you and your wife can stream files to your Apple TV from your iOS devices.  Make sure that AirPlay is enabled on your Apple TV and your iPads. Then select the Apple TV you want to stream to from your iPad and you should be good to go.
My wife and I have a similar environment to the one you describe and have no trouble viewing or using content on any of our devices (including computers).
    Best of luck!

  • What versions should I DOWNgrade to?

So I see that Apple decided, with the new version of OS X and iTunes that I installed, that note files can't be simply copied to the iPod anymore, the way they used to. Instead, you have to have an internet connection on your Mac and go through the Mail program.
I'm kind of a Luddite. I don't let the internet touch my personal computer at all. My only net connection is through public computers and a USB thumbdrive. And since I loathe cell phones and refuse to own one, I need note files on my iPod for all sorts of handy reference.
The only solution I can see is to go back to an older version of iTunes and perhaps the iPod driver. Can anyone (who KNOWS what they're talking about) please tell me what versions of that software I should download?

    OK, here's why you shouldn't edit at 24 (=23.98).
You can change the 30fps footage to 29.97 by simply conforming the frame rate of the clip, as others have pointed out--in other words, slowing it down by .1%. Each frame will remain exactly as it was recorded, it will just be played for 1/29.97 of a second instead of 1/30.
As others have pointed out, this will require you to slow down any synched audio by .1% as well. But there will be no quality hit to your footage. Yes, it will have to be compressed to ProRes, but that's it.
However, if you use Compressor to change the frame rate to 23.98, it can't simply drop one out of every five frames, and it can't just play each frame for 1/23.98 of a second, because that will be noticeable. It will have to invent frames that don't currently exist, and this will involve a significant quality hit. Things may look soft; the motion may look funky.
I guess what I'm saying is that, let's be honest, doing a film transfer from 30p is not going to look good. Doing a film transfer from video is already a big quality hit, and changing the frame rate is going to make that worse. If you really wanted to keep 35mm as a viable option, you should have shot film or at least an HD format that allows for 24p.
That's not to say you don't have lots of distribution options. But you shouldn't compromise the quality of your 30p master, which could be used for TV or DVD distribution, in favor of a potential 35mm transfer that (a) probably won't happen and (b) will not look good if it does.

  • I installed teh update a few days ago but when I open Firefox it says :"You're not on the lastest version . . ", but at "Help" & "About Firefox" it shows 9.0.1 "latest release". There's a glitch somewhere.

This is the message when I Open Firefox:
"You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!"
    At <Help> & <About Firefox>, it shows
    Firefox
    9.0.1
    "Firefox is up to date"
"You are currently on the release update Channel"
One of those messages must be wrong. Either way Firefox seems to work fine otherwise. Thanks and regards, Peter Spielman

Is your homepage set to www.google.com/firefox? If so, that page is wrong. You should change your home page to about:home or some other site instead. The google.com/firefox page is no longer supported.

  • I have version 3.6.23 on a desktip PC. When I "check for updates", I get a message that there are no updates available. What version should I have and how do I get it?

I tried to use a shmetsy.com tool for Etsy. I couldn't use it because of my version of Firefox - 3.6.23
I went to "About Mozilla Firefox" to check for updates and got the message "There are no updates available"

I don't know what versions of Firefox work with Shmetsy. Do they have a system requirements page? It's not in the very short FAQ...
You have the latest in the 3.6 line.
If you want Firefox 7, go to http://www.mozilla.org/firefox to get the installer.
Normally, major upgrades go without a hitch, but just in case, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings to cover yourself in the rare case that something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Just curious on the location of the user agent string for Firefox 4. I don't want to edit or change it, I just want to view it. In previous versions of Firefox, it was in the Help-About menu. It doesn't appear to be located in this spot for Firefox 4.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Film look and Pal,what difference should I see?

    Forum,
The Sony HC9E PAL has the option to use "film".
Sony tell me this would record at 24 fps.
What difference would I see between 24 fps and PAL?
Would the difference be apparent when viewing in the canvas?
    Thank you
    Michael Craven
    PS I have FCP6.3

I'm not sure of the standards for pal but I know NTSC DV records at 30i (more specifically 29.97 interlaced frames per second). 24p (p being progressive) means that it will shoot 24 non interlaced frames per second which is the 'look' of 35mm film that you see in the movies.
The difference between progressive and interlaced flows very deep, but the most noticeable is the quality. When shooting interlaced you have every frame divided in half, one half is the odd lines drawn across the frame and the other is the even lines - this is why you get that flicker sometimes, the lines dont transfer or werent interpolated correctly. In progressive mode the frame is recorded and stored as one complete frame and therefore exhibits much better quality. So 24p will give you a high quality film like look while PAL (assuming its similar to the standards of NTSC) will give you a lesser quality home movie look.
    Hope that helped.

  • What size should my .itl library file be for 7000 tracks?

This will seen like a very strange question but how large should an .itl library file be? The reason that I ask is that I'm trying to get my iTunes files back in place on a new PC & I find that I have 2 old .itl files & don't know which one to import.
I would have expected that the most recently dated one would be the one to use but Windows tells me that the file size is considerable smaller than the old one.
I expect that there has has to be some sort of direct relationship between the number of tracks in the library & the file size of your library. My larger file is said to be 11,300kb & if I recall correctly I have about 7000 tracks in the library. Does that seem correct?
Is it possible to try to add the the second newer library to the first one should as I expect install the larger one. Would this cause problems like duplicates?

+I expect that there has has to be some sort of direct relationship between the number of tracks in the library & the file size of your library.+
There probably is, but I'm not sure how to account for podcasts, audiobooks, movies, and TV shows.
My itl file on v9.02 is 10.7MB and I have around 30K music tracks.
v7 itl files were much bigger. Apple did some major overhaul when they released v8 and shrunk the itl file size.
+I find that I have 2 old .itl files & don't know which one to import.+
There is no way to "import" an ITL file. You can use a shift-start of itunes to look at each itl file and see which one is the most complete.
Press *AND HOLD* the shift key while starting itunes until you see the option to choose a library. Browse to whichever itl file you want ot look at.
iTunes will always use the last itl file it opened, unless you do another shift-start.

Hi I want to know what version of Oracle Database it's free to use with linux OS, and how the licencing for more than two procesors is aply or it's a user licencing??
    Thanks for all...!!!

I don't believe any edition of Oracle is free for a production application. For development purposes, you should be able to download any edition or Oracle for free.
Of course, I'm neither a lawyer nor a representative of Oracle, so I'd suggest reading the exact license when you download the software.
