What versions of Macbook Pro do not support all trackpad gestures?

What versions of Macbook Pro don't support gestures for left and right scrolling on the desktop in MIssion Control.
I have several MBPs and to be honest, I can't remember what hardware supports these Lion features.
Help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Jim P.

Additional info: there are a small subset of 4,1 MBPs that have the multitouch trackpad.  I have one, purchased in late March 2008, just after Apple announced the feature was added to the MBP.  I can scroll left/right in MC.

I'm trying to pair my iPhone 4 with my MacBook Pro and it is saying my MacBook Pro is not supported. I just bought this thing and it's telling me that it isn't supported???

    Do you mean Bluetooth?
If you are trying to activate your iPhone you need to use iTunes.
There's no need to "pair" an iPhone with a Mac. Syncing, restoring, backing up, apps/ music / photos etc., is all done with iTunes.

  • Bluetooth on iphone says macbook pro is not supported

I had the same problem with my Iphone 4 but thought 5 would be different.  I have a 2 year old MacBook Pro and I have an Iphone 5.    I try to get bluetooth to connect the two and the window pops up on my Iphone 5 (as it did with the 4) saying  "Connection Unsuccessful.  Don's MacBook Pro is not supported."  Any ideas?

iPhones have very limited support for bluetooth connection with a computer. Other than tethering (sharing the iPhones internet connection or hotspot) there are no supported uses -- and that is only possible if your cellular plan supports it. Hi Michela27,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you have content on your iPhone that isn't on your computer, the best thing is to use the advice in this article to transfer it to your new computer before setting up sync:

  • Why do 15.4" Macbook Pro's not support resolutions greater than 1440 x 900?

    Hi.
I am a Microsoft .net software developer and am seriously considering getting a Macbook Pro to do some iPhone development. My company has provided me with a 15.4" Dell Precision M4400 that features an LED-backlit screen and nVidia Quadro FX 770M discrete graphics card, supporting 1920 x 1200 native resolution. I'd like to know why the 15.4" Macbook Pro's do not support anything greater than 1440 x 900 when it seems entirely possible? I understand that 17" MBP's do support 1920 x 1200 but it is not currently an option I'm considering pursuing due to the increased size and weight.
    Thanks.

Just to be clear, since you're bringing up graphics cards - the 15" MBP supports up to 2560x1600 resolution on an external display, and simultaneously supports full native resolution on the internal display. As Phil points out, the native resolution of the 15" MBP's internal display is 1440x900, and Apple does not offer a higher resolution option for that model (although higher resolution 15" displays do exist). As to why that's the case, only Apple can answer that or change that.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html.
As you know, if you want to use the iPhone SDK, you need an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS 10.5 Leopard.
    Ps. Welcome back, Phil!!

  • My MacBook Pro does not support Mountain Lion.  How can I download Lion?

I was waiting to update my MacBook Pro until after Mountain Lion came out.  It turns out my Mac is not supported.  Is there a way to buy Lion?  I can't seem to find it on the App store.

call 1-800-697-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 and ask for sales. After you pay the $29 they will send you a link with instructions on how to download it.

  • Macbook pro does not support Final Cut Pro preview on external monitor?

I have been editing on Final Cut Pro from my imac for approx 1 year with an external monitor attached with no problems. I recently bought a macbook pro, for Final Cut Pro editing, and discovered that the monitor does not work. The Final Cut Pro preview on the external monitor freezes and in the preview pane of FCP it flick between two images.
I have been reading around some forums, and have seen a couple of people with the same problem.
Anyone have a suggestion on how to run the external monitor with FCP?
    Thanks!

You have probably already done it but ensure you have updated the OS and Quicktime prior to attempting to instal Final Cut Studio.
I recently had a hard drive crash and after installing the new hard drive it would not read the OS installation disc. I ended up using an external drive case and installed the OS on the drive from a different Mac Book, then reinstalled the hard drive in the other Mac Book. Then it booted right up. I updated all the original software before attempting to install any additional software.
Everyone kept saying it wouldn't install due a possibly defective optical drive and I can't say why but it wasn't the drive. As soon as I had the system up and running again the optical drive functioned flawlessly.
    I hope this helps you.

  • My new macbook pro does not recognize all sd cards

My MacBook recognizes some sd and sdhc cards, others it doesnt. When I first got it a few weeks ago, it recognized them all, but i had to try a few times with some cards. Now these cards don't work at all anymore. On windows laptops they still work. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks

  • My MacBook Pro won't support disk

I have a disk with medical information. My MacBook Pro will not support this disk? What can I do?

There are apps to read the data  Does the disk contain MRI, CAT, and/or Xray data?  If so I have used OsiriX to read this kind of data:

  • Does Boot Camp 5 not support Windows 8 Gestures?

I just did a fresh install of Windows 8 on a late 2011 MacBook pro. Does this updated version of Boot Camp not support the trackpad gestures?
I've spent a lot of time on Google but everything that I am finding is from 2012 with references to people trying to get Windows 8 working in Boot Camp 4.
    Thanks!

Thank you for the clear and concise answer mende1.
That is great that someone has created 3rd party drivers but that won't be a solution in my environment. I support several Macs in a very large corporate environment and we were wanting to run Windows 8 with full official support from Apple on these devices.
The way I see it, Boot Camp 5 does not officially support Windows 8 until they support this basic functionality. I cannot provide support in this environment to a 3rd party driver solution. I'll be sure to provide feedback to Apple.
    Thanks again!
