What versions of Photoshop Elements are compatible with Windows 8?

Microsoft advises that all versions of PSE except versions 1, 3, 5 & 6 will work with Windows 8. The best option is a new computer with W8 and then do a clean install of Elements. Some difficulties may arise if upgrading the operating system on top of existing software. In those circumstances make sure you have your original disks or your download package, in case a re-install is necessary.
Microsoft Windows 8 compatibility.

    All Elements versions for Windows including PSE12 are 32 bits applications which can run without problems on Windows 64 bits.

  • Is Photoshop Elements 11 compatible with Windows 8.1?

    Is Photoshop Elements 11 compatible with Windows 8.1? I got a new computer 2 months ago and have been loading in my photos and pngs slowly and tagging all of them. If I understand correctly, even though I am saving the tagging to the metadata, Elements warns me that it will not save to pngs, which is what most of mine are. As I have added about half now (about 100 hours of tagging) my computer is freezing up and will no longer open my Elements. My computer completely froze and needed tech support for several hours to get anything to work again. The tech support couldn't find any malware to explain this problem and have concluded that the Elements is not compatible with my operating system. I have not been really pleased with this computer from the start and am not totally convinced that Elements is the cause of the initial lock up of my computer. I am willing to purchase a newer version of Elements if that is the problem, but am worried I will get a newer Elements, go through the loading and tagging process and have the same thing happen again, especially if I have to retag everything I just did. I cannot find anywhere that specifically states whether Elements 11 is compatible with Windows 8.1 (only windows 8). Before I go to a lot of trouble, does anyone know for sure whether Elements 11 is compatible with Windows 8.1? Thanks,Donna

    PSE11 will run as a 32-bit application in W8.1-64, PRE11 will run as a 64-bit application.

    It should work OK, since PSE is a 32-bit application, and Win7 can run applications in "Compatibility Mode" using the settings for earlier versions of Windows.

    The answer, aborwick, is no, according to Adobe. The company line is that Win8 requires PSE version 11.
    Brett N's link leads you to that conclusion with a very nice chart but links come and go as IT managers come and go LOL hence the plain english response here for future posterity. I suspect you might finagle a way to install it but then will find it crippled in some way(s).
    Speaking of which, it is my understanding that Adobe Photoshop Elements / Premiere 11 dropped support for a whole BUNCH of file formats* so make sure your files are supported before upgrading!! My last Corel image software update obsoleted over 250,000 images (because they were in a proprietary Corel format which Corel dropped support for and refused to provide any conversion whatsoever) which is why no Corel product will ever be seen on any computer of mine again. Caveat emptor!
    Always amuses me (except when I am the asker of the question of course) how far around mulberry bush folks go instead of just answering the question. LoL

    I am about to download/install Photoshop Elements 10 onto my Windows 8.1 system and I don't know if it will work.

    I am using PSE10, and 11 on Windows 8.1 and as far as I can see, both

    Hope this helps.

  • What versions of NI-VISA are compatible with CVI 7.1.1

    I am stuck using CVI version 7.1.1 due to a customer requirement and need to use VISA functions in a new application. I do not have access to the original driver disk so I don't know exactly which version of VISA to use with this version of CVI.
    I was under the assumption that I could download the latest version (4.6.2) and it would be backwards compatible but it does not work for me on two different PCs. In both cases, I get a general protection fault if I try to execute an application that uses any of the VISA functions. Both PCs use Windows XP.
    So I need to know which version of VISA is compatible with Win XP and CVI 7.1.1 and will not give me a GPF.
    To further complicate things, I also need to know which versions of NI-FGEN, NI-RFSG, NI-HSDIO, and NI-DAQ will work with my setup. I am using PXI-5404, PXI-5651, and PXI-6562 hardware.

    The attached screen shot shows the GPF error message I am getting.
    I have tested this application on three separate machines with the exact same result. One of them has VISA 4.5 installed, the others 4.6. All of them have CVI 7.1.1 and TestStand 3.1
    I get the error if I try to run this application and it has ANY VISA function in it. As soon as I remove them, it runs OK.
    All I am trying to do is use the VISA functions to access an RS-232 port. I have done this before without running into any kind of problems.
    I need a solution to this problem.
    For what it is worth, the calls I am making so far are (if I include any of them and try to run, it gives a GPF):
     status = viOpenDefaultRM (&rsrcMgr);
     status = viOpen (rsrcMgr, comPortDescriptor, VI_NULL, VI_NULL, &comPort);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_WR_BUF_OPER_MODE, VI_FLUSH_ON_ACCESS);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_RD_BUF_OPER_MODE, VI_FLUSH_ON_ACCESS);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_ASRL_BAUD, baudRate);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_ASRL_DATA_BITS, dataBits);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_ASRL_PARITY, parity);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_ASRL_STOP_BITS, stopBits);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_ASRL_FLOW_CNTRL, flowControl);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_ASRL_DISCARD_NULL, VI_FALSE);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_ASRL_END_IN, VI_ASRL_END_NONE);
     status = viSetAttribute (comPort, VI_ATTR_ASRL_END_OUT, VI_ASRL_END_NONE);

  • [Consolidation Locked] Is Photoshop Elements 10 compatible with Windows 8?

    I am currently running Photoshop elements 10 and Premiere elements 10 (64Bit) on a Windows 7 Home Premium machine. The Hardware specs are pretty good, with a I7 2.5 processor, 8GB RAM, 2GB dedicated video card etc.
    I was planning to upgrade myself to Windows 8 Professional using the $14 offer... however, need to know for sure that these 2 software work with Windows 8 and there are no issues.
    Is there anyone here, who has tried to run these 2 software on Windows 8, and if so, what has been your experience. Are there any issues, or any performance lags?
    I am pretty sure I do not want to pay the additional dollars to upgrade to version 11, so all responses will be very helpful indeed.
    Thanks in advance.

    I have tried v10 under Win8 and my findings were not that encouraging. I don't know if it's due to my Wacom driver or an inherent flaw in PSE10, but I get severe cursor lag. Not just with the brushes, but also with the regular cursor. I'll move the cursor only to have it halt for half a second and then continue. Stop. Go. Stop. Go. Stop. Go. It has made PSE10 totally unusable.
    I haven't tried v11 under Win8. Even if it did work well, I still wouldn't use it.
    Now, bear in mind, this is just my opinion. However, the new changes to the GUI have really turned me off. Previously, PSE looked and felt like a somewhat crippled version of the CSx Photoshop, which is a good thing. The GUI was polished, no nonsense, and well organized. The dark, neutral UI was perfect for editing various photos and textures. PSE10 was, imo, the best version yet.
    PSE11 feels like a total step backwards. The core functionality is still there, but the GUI feels much more like a toy now. They even changed the icons. The design, to me, screams, "You're a helpless n00b. You probably won't understand Photoshop on your own so we'll hold your hand." No longer does it feel like CS-lite. It feels more like a community modded version, as if PSE and GIMP merged. It feels very weird and uncomfortable to use. By default, there is far too much clutter. As I said, all of the core functionality you loved is still there. It's just hidden beneath an ugly and very unprofessional looking UI.
    Finances being what they are, I've gone back to Corel PSP, now in version X5. It's missing some of my favorite Adobe features, like the content aware healing brush, but it does the job and doesn't fight me. I wish that Adobe would realize that people just want to get the job done. The GUI should stay the heck out of the way. PSE11's design is not aimed at power users.

  • Is Photoshop Elements 8 compatible with Windows 8?

    I just got a new computer with no CD drive.  Before trying to find an external drive to use to load the software I wanted to check compatibility.

    You can download the trial version thru the folowing page to see if you can get it to work.  If it does then you only need the serial number from your disc to activate it to full use.

  • Is Photoshop Elements 4 compatible with Windows 7?

    My wife is a non-technical artist who loves her Photoshop Elements 4 and loathes the possibility of a significant upgrade/learning curve. The upcoming transition from Windows XP to Windows 7 creates that possibility. I want to know if we can re-install v4 on the new machine without requiring an upgrade.

    The solutions suggest that some of what PSE needs to run is inaccessible, either because permissions have denied access or that the path to look for them in has changed.
