What video files does Realplayer on N80 play-exact...

What does it play? the N80 realplayer app I mean?
I want exact specs of the file not just MP4 (what does it contain, eg AAC etc)
I am trying to help friend with his video converter to be able to convert for N80 and others.
Its a professional app on sale, and already does ipod,PSP,PPC,etc

You probably need to experiment a little, but I've been using QTP.
Maximum image size and frame rate is CIF (352x288) and 15fps.
Also I suggest you limit the data rate to 512kbps, max you can proably get out is 600k, but the encoders usually work best on "round" numbers and as the peak data rates can be higher then .
The above all assumes you are encoding using MPEG4 basic profile. If you want to use H264 then I think I could only get it working with QCIF and 256kbps, but don't quote me on that...
Audio track is AAC-LC at 128kbps (assuming stereo)

Quicktime will support DV, DV/NTSC, DV/PAL, h.264, mpeg1, mpeg4, m4v, animation (a 4:4:4 uncompressed file), photo jpeg, AIC
With the proper QT plugin, it will support WMV (plugin from Flip4Mac), HDV (mpeg2 plugin). ProRes (ProRes plugin). There are others that are hardware specfic codecs (eg AJA, Blackmagic, AVID) .
Is this a general question or do you have a specific codec in mind?

Iphoto 9.5.1 shows mpeg-4 files as a thumbnail, but will only show as a black screen when you double click on it, other video files are able to be played and are viewable. Why?

iphoto 9.5.1 shows mpeg-4 video files as a thumbnail, but will not play the video. When try to play video it shows as a black screen. Other video files play ok- (mpeg, .mov). What do I have to do to view them? If I use imovie they will play, but I sometime like to view them in iphoto. It worked before I upgraded to 9.5.1 and 19.9.2 of the operationg system.

Select the thrumbnail of one of the videos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option. That should take you to the original mpeg4 file.
If it does then try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

Exported video file does not match audio file in length?

I'm back with the same problem.
Here are the specs for this project:
Premiere Pro 5
Footage shot in HDV 1080i (Sony FX1)
Edited Timeline length...52:25
Destination: Blu-ray disc
I have tried both formats in the AME...MPEG2 Blu-ray and H.264 Blu-ray
I have tried every combination of Presets within these two formats...Match Attributes, 1440x1080i, HDTV....etc, etc, etc
The machine is spending anywhere from 7 hours to 27 hours to encode these files.
When I open the two files after the operation has finished, I find I have an audio file 52:25 in length and a video file 43:34, no matter what format or preset I have chosen!
Upon playback, you can imagine the frustration...within the first two minutes the two are out of sync.
What am I doing wrong here.
This is my first sortie into the HD world of Adobe. I've been doing Adobe Premiere SD for 10 years...and my deadline for the closed captioning is coming way too soon.
I appreciate any help you might offer.

Jim...Yes! I just did that this morning in frustration and by golly, they are both the same length. There is a note in the Project window after I copy to "Timeline" that says the video file is unencoded! Wierd! Another problem popped up in that the video and audio files are in different sequences in Encore. I cannot get them to play together. One will play and not the other...? I can't seem to drag them to the same sequence.
But, at least they are the same length! Mysteries in this HD business.

When i click on the links, the realplayer opens and plays the video. But there is no command for a download.

What video file type is best for quicktime?

I have a Macbook Pro and use Quicktime to play videos I download from p2p programs. I often find that many of the videos do not work. Messages such as "this is not a video file." and "additional software is needed to play this video" often pop up.
Is there a certian file type (mp4, mov, etc.) that works best that I should look for? If not, what can I do to prevent this?

In addition to those, a number of additional formats can be played with the addition of third-party codecs such as Perian and the Flip4Mac codecs. Some other codecs also exists, for very specific systems such as Avid.

I am using a MAC
Captivate 8.0.1.242
Multi-slide synchronized so I can set the slide timing to accommodate length of video
The problem is specifically with .flv video files when publishing a responsive project or even trying to play the slide. The video encoder pops up trying to convert the file to .mp4 for output but does not work. My understanding is that the ONLY video file type I can use for responsive projects is .flv
Is this correct?
