What video format is best for video quality?

Would anyone care to comment on what video format is recommended to achieve the best video quality in Encore when burning to a 25 GB Blu-ray disc?  I have the choice of saving my HD video that will be imported into Premier Pro CS4 (and then sent to Encore CS4)  in .mp4, .mt2s or .ts and I'm not sure which one will give me the best results. Thanks in advance for the insight!
Ken

does that mean that one is not necessarily "better" than the other?
That is correct.
Now, some feel that with the MP4 H.264 that there are differences between the Apple, the Lead and the MainConcept H.264. Each supplier has a "camp of followers."

    I would like to know which video format to import in adobe CS%- CS^  because it looks like it's kind of slow. when I import the video file as mts

    FCP is a quicktime based NLE and your footage would be most compatible if with if encoded in the Quicktime Movie file format (MOV)
    As far as quality goes, DV is a codec (and not an especially high quality one), AVI and MOV are container formats and can contain a huge variety of different codecs which can vary greatly in quality.

  • What video format is best for TV ad ?

    Best composition settings

    The suggestions above are helpful, but they may not necessarily be correct.
    Here's the ONLY way you're going to know for sure: find out the delivery specifications for your project and work backwards from there.  You have to contact the ad distributor / broadcaster / advertising agency / editor.... whoever receives your work.  Presumably, these people already know what they need from you.  You need to find that out.
    If you don't do that, you're only wasting your time.

  • External drives... whats the best for video.... ?

    Hi everyone,
    I'm trying to figure out what the best bang for the buck is in regards to external drives, and what works best for video.
    I have considered the LaCie enclosures, I have also considered buying a 500 GB SATA to replace the 200 GB second drive I have inside the G5. The issue than is what enclosure works the best with a MAC and is 1394 and will the firm ware support huge video files, for render or exporting?
    Can anyone give some advice based on what they have learned through past experience.
    Thanks

    I've been using LaCie FW (800 & 400) drives for about three years now with only one problem - One of the first drives I bought (I think it was a 120 GB) fried itself a few months ago. I currently have 80GB, 120 GB, 400GB and 500 GB drives, all working fine, never have dropped frames. The LaCie drives are pretty tough too, as I've sent most of them back and forth across the country at least a few times with no problems.
    However, be careful if you update the firmware for them - make sure the drive is clean as the firmware update can cause corruption of data on the drive (I found that out the hard way!). Also keep in mind that they do put off a fair amount of heat (especially the big ones) so I wouldn't consider stacking them on top of each other horizontally.

  • What video format to export for Ipad Apps

    Hi,
    I am new in export flash to ipad. I tried to export my video as FLV for my ipad apps, it plays but its lagging or jerky.
    I had tried other formats like mp4, f4v, m4v or mov it just doesn't play
    Wonder if anyone knows what video format to export for my ipad apps?

    http://www.vmw.com.sg

    [email protected], on an iPad, here's what I did to get the FLV loading and taking up (most) of the screen. You can't use the FLV Component skins so you have to use the UI Components as markc888 suggested below your comment. My only gripe with this solution is that I can't get the fullScreen button to make the video go full screen.
    This is starts from a playVideo button on my stage.
    playVideo.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playVideoClick);
    function playVideoClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
    var flvPlayback:FLVPlayback = new FLVPlayback();
    flvPlayback.x = 62;
    flvPlayback.y = 62;
    flvPlayback.width = 900;
    flvPlayback.height = 506;
    flvPlayback.fullScreenTakeOver = true;
    flvPlayback.autoPlay = true;
    flvPlayback.source = "yourMovie.flv";
    flvPlayback.bufferTime = .1;
    addChild(flvPlayback);
    flvPlayback.playPauseButton = playPauseBtn_mc;
    flvPlayback.stopButton = stopBtn_mc;
    flvPlayback.seekBar = seekBar_mc;
    var closeMovie:yourMovieClip = new yourMovieClip();
    addChild(closeMovie);
    closeMovie.x = 977;
    closeMovie.y = 77;
    closeMovie.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, closeMovieClick);
    function closeMovie(event:MouseEvent):void {
    flvPlayback.stop();
    removeChild(flvPlayback);
    removeChild(closePres);
    Hope it helps...

  • 'Best for video' greyed out in displays prefs

    I finally got my macbook(blackbook running 10.5.8) hooked up to my lcd tv (i have been using my old eMac for this a while) & I'm fooling around with the settings to optimize performance & for some reason the 'Best for video' is greyed out in System prefs/Displays but the overscan function works(both in extended desktop mode & in video mirroring mode. I have always used this function on my eMac (OS X 10.3.9) without any problems. For now I'm using the apple mini dvi to video with an Svideo cable until i can afford to go either the hdmi or vga route, but I'd like to optimize this at least..anybody have a clue why 'Best for video' would be greyed out & how to fix this? could this be because of the Intel GMA 950 Gpu chipset in this generation of macbooks? I have posted to a few forums in the last few days with no answers so far...Anybody?

    I wouldn't worry too much about that setting. I believe all it ever did was set up a difference between blanking and black level, sometimes called "pedestal" in TV/video terminology. It's no big deal. You are probably correct that the GMA950 doesn't support it, so it's grayed out.

  • Which application is the best for video converter?

    Which MacBook Pro application is the best for video converter?

    Docs to go is a bit more polished i think. It has been around awhile on other platforms and the sync is very well done. It works more as an extension of your desktop. You select the files you want to sync. They can stay where they are on your computer. If changes are made to either they update when you sync.
    Quick Office allows you to move documents to and from your iphone and Any computer on any network as well as your iDisk if you have MobileMe. It has a server built in. You just enter the web address into any browser and you can see the folders on the iphone. It will work with Word and Excel fine. It is tricky editing a spreadsheet on such a small screen but it can be done.
    Docs to Go has a little bit better editor.
    I guess it depends on whether you want to be able to transfer files to a computer other than your own.
    Hope that helps

  • What office program is best for macbook air 2013

    what office program is best for macbook air 2013

    To create some sanity here:
    If you are going to share files with family, friends, and coworkers Microsoft Office is the obvious and easy (though expensive) choice.
    If you are trying to save money and still remain compatible with friends LibreOffice is free and can read/write Microsoft Office files nearly perfectly.
    Another free choice is Apple's iWork suite (you'll have to download it from the App store because it isn't pre-installed) Numbers, Pages, and Keynote. These programs read Microsoft documents mostly accurately but not quite as well as LibreOffice and export to Office compatible documents. But neither LibreOffice nor iWork saves in Microsoft formats by default which means you must remember to export them. That can be a problem.
    In terms of ease of use I give iWork a slight edge over the other two. In terms of doing annoying things I don't expect, Office is the hands down winner.

  • Applications in dashboard not opening/what movie formats are best?

    what movie format is best to download onto macbook? None of my usual applications (vuze, VLC, quicktime player) are responding/opening! I've always had trouble happening upon congruent formats, so that's my first question. Secondly, vuze which I usually use, has just stopped opening. The 'vuze downloads' window will open, but none of the movies in it will open, and the application itself won't pop up with its usual big window. The little vuze icon is still in my dashboard, though. I tried re-starting vuze, but it didn't do anything. QuickTime player won't respond either. HELP!!

    With SO MUCH photo editing software available, what would be the best for me if I am a digital camera newby? I do not need Photoshop CC! I do not want to spend $700 bucks! My camera is a Nikon D90. Please help.

    Where did you come up with the $700 figure?
    Photography plan - $9.99/month or $119/year - Creative Cloud Photography plan : Adobe Creative Cloud
    Single App - $19.99/month
    Complete plan - $49.99/month or $599/yr - Creative Cloud free trial & plans : Adobe Creative Cloud
    Ah - If you wish to cancel early yeah $74.99 which would total for the year at $899.88. But that final total would be if you canceled in the 12th month but if you plan on keeping it that long might as well go for the annual contract. Then cancel at the end of the term limit if you need to.
    If you are not sure what to get, Either Elements as was suggested by Peru Bob or the photography plan.

  • What settings do I need for high quality web video?

    I've created a video via animoto.com for my website. The video resolution they recommend for web is 432 x 240 @ 15 fps. I used this and it's not as crystal clear as I'd like. Still looks pixelated a bit and I'd like a higher def version. So I downloaded the hi res version (864 x 480 @ 24 fps). This looks great but takes forever to load due to buffering. Then the video stops every few seconds. I understand this res is not meant for web.
    What is the resolution I need for best quality & fast loading? I've seen great videos on the web before that loaded very quickly. This is what I'm looking for. I have Quicktime Pro for Mac and can pretty much save in any formats & resolutions. So what's recommended?
    Thanks!

    Hi
    There are some important things.
    • Set down burn speed to x1. In iDVD08 You can do this in preferences.
    • Use high quality media. I only use Verbatim
    • Use right type of DVDs. I only use DVD-R (Single Layer)
    • Best quality - I use Pro-encoding Quality.
    • IMPORTANT: Secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Your internal (start-up) hard disk
    • Use a CD/DVD cleaning disk from time to time
    • Don't burn more than three DVD at a time then let Your DVD-burner rest in 15 minutes to cool down.
    Good Luck
    Yours Bengt W

  • What's best for video output to plasma HDTV?

    I'm thinking of hooking my 15' MBP up to my Samsung Plasma HDTV. The TV has input options including VGA, DVI, and HDMI.
    Since I'll have to go purchase the necessary cables and/or adapters to make this work, I was curious to know which option would give me the best video quality. Or is there a difference?
    What's the best?

    VGA is an analog video format. You'd be degrading your signal from digital out to analog, then your TV would likely reconvert it to digital for display on the plasma. That's definitely not the way to go.
    As for the DVI vs HDMI they're both digital transport. I am not totally certain but I believe for digital video the HDMI is just a higher density tighter pack of wires than DVI (other than audio but that's irrelevant here) so it the DVI vs HDMI should be equivalent quality.
    I'd just plug the DVI out from the MacBook Pro into the DVI input of the TV. The cable will cost a mint (maybe like $50). I heard through someone that Apple is carrying low cost cables, but I haven't checked it out yet. I'll step back to hear someone who knows more comment more on the DVI vs HDMI and this price part.

  • Best Video Format, Bitrate & Resolution for X-Fi2

    I recently got my X-Fi2 and I want to watch videos at full quality on the screen at the lowest possible file size to maintain plenty of room for other stuff like music or more films, so before I start converting films, would anyone recommend the best conversion settings to do this (highest bitrate before you start to notice no quality difference, same goes for resolution)

    So far I haven't even been able to get Creative's converter to work. It crashes whenever I attempt to convert a file. (So, those of you who wonder why on earth we'd even think of not using Creative's software, well... without mincing words: It's pretty much crap at this point.)
    After some tinkering and a few initial crashes (grrrr.....) I've managed to get Creative Centrale to successfully rip the main movie file off several DVDs in what appears to be a nice quality .mpg2 format.
    I use Format Factory (a free video conversion app) to convert these 5 to 6 GB files to a managable size for the Zen X-Fi2.
    So far, the format that seems to play the best and smoothest is an AVI file with MPEG4 compression using the DivX codec. (I'm not very audio/visually literate, so I hope I'm explaining this correctly...) Basically an .avi file with MPEG4(DivX) encoding.
    Though the Zen X-Fi2 has a widescreen, it seems to default any 640x480 or 320x240 files (with no internal widescreen/anamorphic tags) to the center of the screen - like 4:3 television on a 6:9 set. That basically means any widescreen files saved in this format may end up having black empty space all the way around on the top, bottom, left, AND right.
    So, saving the above (widescreen) ripped DVD files to a 480x272 size works out really well. (Or 640x364 if you want a little higher resolution for when you connect your player to a TV.) This ensure the movie will fill the screen from left to right and leave black bars only at the top and bottom for those big, theatrical widescreen movies. (2.35: ratio or whatever...)
    I also noticed that the file size difference from the lower to higher resolution is almost neglible. (Did this with my Lord of the Rings Extended Edition DVDs.)
    The first time I converted The Fellowship of the Ring (Disc ), I used a video bitrate transfer of 52 KB/s. The size of the file was about 460 MB. It worked, but there was a fair amount of "pixelly" video and artifacting. I tried again using 024 KB/s for the video stream transfer and the video looks really, really nice. The final size was close to 890 MB and 640x364 resolution. I tried one more time at that same bitrate, but lowered the resolution way down to 400x228 and the size was of the new file was still 840 MB. So, the video bitrate transfer has a much heavier influence on the size and quality than the choice of resolution.
    So, my personal recommendations for nice quality videos on your Zen X-Fi2:
    .avi file, encoded as MPEG4(DivX)
    640x364 (or even 480x272) -- only about 40 or 50 MB of difference in file size here)
    024 video bitrate transfer (768 or even 52 if you don't mind some artifacting and blockiness and would rather have smaller files)
    24 fps
    28 KB/s audio bitrate (for nice sound)
    2 audio channels
    All this from a guy who's just figuring this out as he goes along...
