What video formats work with the Z

Hey, I just recently got the Zen
http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=23&subcategory=24&product=699 9&campid=20742#
In the store i went trough the videos on the demo and they all had a .avi extension. So i figured .avi videos would work, which is great.
But they don't
So i bought the Ali've Video Converter (which seems to be really good according to reviews)
and now i'm not sure to what i should convert my videos in order to make them work on the zen.
Here is the list of available formats in which i can convert a video. If anyone could point out the ones that would work on the zen it would be great. Tnx.

I'm sorry you didn't find my message constructi've but hey....
So i figured .avi videos would work, which is great. (why?)

I'll see how it goes, hopefully it will all be good (it won't be, but good luck anyway. if you actually buy one then please just use the software it comes with and enjoy. alternati'vely, post spurious messages and try to advertise this REALLY GOOD ACCORDING TO REVIEWS piece of unrequired trash.

  • What font formats work with the InDesignCS5 Document Fonts feature

Can anyone tell me why some CS5 InDesign documents still show missing fonts, when the file has been packaged and a Document Fonts folder has been created?
I mark student work, they often download free fonts and use them in their InDesign files, however not all fonts are packaged correctly, and don't load when the packaged InDesign file is opened. I thought this new feature was supposed to overcome this issue.
Any info would be much appreciated.

I would expect most free fonts to be true-type, myself, but I don't use them so I don't really know. Badly made fonts can be a problem, no matter the type, and on the Mac platform there were some packaging issues when file paths had "illegal" characters, or were too long (though I don't recall if that was for CS4 or CS5), and I don't know that it affected fonts or only links. In any case, advise your students to update to the latest patch for whatever version they are using.

  • What larger monitors work with the 15" vga G4 iMac

What larger monitors work with the 15" vga G4 iMac?

It is not so much how large but rather a question of resolution and how it would look on a larger monitor than the original.
All iMac G4 15-inchers supported: 640x480; 800x600; and 1024x768 at a fixed 4:3 ratio--no provision for widescreen. The old rule of thumb for decent clarity for 4:3 ratio CRT monitors was:
    15-inch monitor supports 640x480
    17-inch supports 800-x600
    19 to 20 inch supports 1024x768
I believe you would find the same issues with an older 4:3 flat-panel monitor.
Also the iMacs can only mirror the resolution set on the built-in monitor so you can't have the external one set differently nor use it for extended desktop. If you set the built-in to 640x480 (would look nice at 15 inches) you are going to get 640x480 on the external regardless of how big it is. On a 19-20 incher, 640x480 could start to look pixelated.

  • What apps will work with the Apple Component Video cables ?????

I plan to order the Apple Component Video cables so I can watch the Netflix apps movies on my TV.
I know this app works with the cables but what else does?
The few apps I know of are:
    Netflix
    YouTube
    included video app
    but what else ?

Thanks. I did order it and it arrived yesterday. I have not done a lot but watched a couple things
with the Netflix app and I am very pleased.
The cable is only about 6 feet so I had to extend it but other than that I am pleased. Luckily, I already
had a 10' cable in the basement with connectors so now I can have my iPad where it usually is and
    control things more easily.
A few more apps that work with it would be nice though. :>

  • What Monitors WILL work with the Mac-Mini?

If the new Mac-Mini does not put out analog video and Apple does not state this, what monitors will work with it?

I was able to get an Apple Studio Display to work via the adapter in the Mac Mini box combined with that huge DVI to ADC adapter they had sold me years ago. In the Apple Store I really had to press them to assure me my display would work as they told me they'd charge me a re-stock fee if I had to bring the Mini back. I pressed the point that Apple should know if a monitor it made works with a computer it made. The rep asked around and we both searched the web and then she was able to confirm it would work. They really need a list of acceptable monitors. If anyone locates such a list, please let us all know!

Mp4 is what you need, but honestly, you'd be much better of converting them yourself, as you never know what kind of quality you're going to get when you get them from somebody else, plus, you can make sure the sound is set correctly!

  • What wireless routers work with the MacBook Pro?

I have been having problems with my inconsistent D-Link 624 and I realize that I will have to replace it.
I would like to know what routers are compatible with the MacBook Pro. My D-Link worked fine with my iBook but I think it does not work with the Intel binary. Any suggestions?

I had problems with a number of different Linksys routers (dropped signal, couldn't connect to some iChat AV calls, etc). I'd been using some Airport express routers for music around the house, which I switched around a made a primary wireless router and a reange exapnder. I've had ZERO problems since.
BTW, I was having almost identical problems with my PowerMac G5 (with a wireless card).
I'm curious if something in recent upgrades (10.4.7?) has changed the OS's ability to connect reliably with non-Apple routers.
But at least my Apple routers seem to be working very well.

  • What docking station works with the ipod touch 4th generation?

What docking station is works with the ipod touch 4th generation?  We have a Bose docking station which I'm having trouble getting it to fit onto.

    Gal:
I'm not exactly clear what your question is.
How does the system you have been given not work with your iPod? What is the problem?
What is your point about the 4th generation adaptor? The "adaptor" is merely a physical piece of plastic that sits in the Docking Station's dock and creates the exact shape for your model of iPod to fit snugly into it. So a 1st or 2nd generation iPod would not benefit in any way from a 4th gen adaptor.
Are you trying to find a portable iPod Docking Station that works without mains power?
You said: " the customer service agent said it would make the iPod fit, but it wouldn't charge or play music." What is your point about charging the iPod? I don't understand what you are trying to say. I presume that the system you've been given does charge a 1st and 2nd gen iPod.
The product you linked to looks portable to me. So why does it not suit your needs, is this about using it out in the garden (my question 2)?
Less complicated in what way? What exactly are you finding complicated? Simply place the iPod into the Docking Station and (presumably) select the iPod input and press play.

  • What monitors will work with the Power Mac G5?

If I got a new Power Mac, would I need to get a new monitor (Apple Display), too? I have a Dell 17" LCD monitor (VGA). Would this work with the Power Mac?
HP P4 1.8GHz   Windows XP Pro

Yes. You'll need to use the included DVI to VGA adapter to connect the monitor.

  • What monitor best works with the MAC Pro

I'm thinking of buying a MAC PRO. What Monitor best works with a MAC Pro?

Whatever Monitor you like, exclusively. There are adapters available for everything.
Analog VGA is not a good idea. It's a Digital world. But it can be done if you want.
A TV set is not a Monitor. TV sets are for moving pictures, and may do badly with stable pictures, fine lines, parallel lines, smooth-edged text, and adjacent patches of bright colors.
Wider than 1920 needs special attention to details.

  • What AGP video cards work with the MEGA PC

    Hi,
I am a newbie to this forum and a new owner of a Mega PC651.  I will be configuing it with the following:
    512 MB DDR 2100 RAM
    Celeron 2.4Ghz CPU
    Digital Research Technologies DVD+-RW/+-R
I want to play 3D games like C&C Generals with the system but am afraid that the SIS651 will not support them.
I have a ATI 9700 All-in-wonder Card in my son's computer but am concerned about heat generation in the Mega PC after reading several reviews. Also, I think that he will be very angry if I steal his card.
Can anyone recommend a moderately priced Video card MSI or other that will fit and will not cause any heating problems?
    Thanks,
    Charlie G

Windows XP supports up to AGP 8x.
I have a 9600 pro at the moment. I don't think that VGA silencer will work - if it takes up the PCI slot, then there will be nowhere for the cooler to draw air from because it will be pressed up against the case.
I am currently running my 9600 pro without any additional cooling and it seems to be doing ok. I did have a unit somewhat like this:
    http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/slf-01.html
It definately helped the cooling but the noise began to get to me. I recently sorted out my CPU cooling problems and so the main source of noise was my system exhaust above. I have taken it out and have been playing several high graphics games with no problems yet.
As for only supporting up to 4x, the 9600 pro will not be dragged back much. When it gets to the point that games require more than 4x speed to pass full detail for a decent framerate, the 9600 pro will start to struggle anyway. You will have a slight performance decrease, but nothing that will turn a game from being playable to un-playable. I would have bought a better card but the 4x speed would limit the cards actual power so there wouldn't have been any point.

  • What MSI boards work with the 5770?

I am wondering what boards you guys have had luck with getting the 5770 to work with. At the moment I have a P35 Plat. and was hoping some might give me some insight as to whether they have had any luck with the card?

It means "factory" or "unmodified" in colloquial use, most customary within the automotive industry but its been known and seen and heard among the computer component industry for years and years, just not as commonly.
Dude, I know what "stock" means.  Depending on the production date of the board, the "stock" BIOS Version can be virtually any BIOS Version so far released for a particular board.  And that is why "stock" BIOS Version is a piece of information that is too vague to be of any specific use whatsoever (there is no definite and once and for all fixed stock BIOS Version for any particular Mainboard).  Consequently, that is the reason I asked him to check the current BIOS Version:

Please check your current BIOS Version (Standard CMOS Features -> System Information).

    No need to get pissy.
I was not "pissy" but trying to get more accurate information regarding the actual BIOS Version currently used on the system in question. Smart-ass remarks that miss the actual point of what they are trying criticise don't make me pissy either.  They just make me scratch my head.

  • What docking stations work with the ipod mini gen 2?

Looking to get a docking station for my ipod mini gen 2.  Are there any out there that are known to work?

Well, I don't have any specific recommendations, since I've never used them myself.  There are so many choices, just make sure the specs say it works with your older iPod model.
If you get a "plain" dock (like that Universal Dock), or an older version (no remote control) for cheap on eBay, it's not just for connecting to computers.  It has a audio output jack (that gets a high quality line out signal from the iPod's dock connector).  You can connect that to your stereo system's auxilliary input, or to any powered speakers (the type people connect to computers).  For power, connect the docking cable to a USB power adapter instead of a computer's USB port.
And you can connect it to your computer too.  Plus, if the speakers go bad (or you want better ones), you don't have to throw the whole gadget away.  Just get new speakers, keep the dock.

  • What camera models work with the camera Kit.

This Camera was not listed as one that works. But I gave it a try anyways and I was able to import pictures just fine from it..
    I have the Ipad WIFI + 3G.
Plugged the Camera's USB cable into the camera kit ipad adapter and the Ipad Photo app popped up and let me select the pictures I wanted to inport.
The Camera is a 3 year old Olympus Stylus 720SW Shock and waterproof Digital Camera.

It's a proprietary accessory. The build of iOS is not supported for that device whereas it is supported in the iPad. Similar to why there are certain apps that only work with iPad.
