What voice over microphone for Imac & FCE?

What is a good microphome for using on the Imac & FCE?

Almost any decent XLR-based microphone will work.  Two of the long time standards are the Shure SM58 and SM57.  You can find them for around $99 new and around $50 used on eBay.  With one of these mics you will need an adapter (or adapter cable) to go from the mic's XLR connector the the Mac's 3.5mm stereo male connector.
Another mic that has seemed to work well is the Blue Snowball, which is a USB mic (as opposed to analog mics like the SM58 and SM57)
Assuming your use is for voiceovers, just look for a mic that is designed for voice, not instruments or percussion.  Look for a cardioid, dynamic mic designed for voice.  There are lots of them on the market - Shure, Audio Technica, Behringer, M-Audio, Sennheiser, many others.

The overall settings for VoiceOver is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes.
Artist name and song name - Press and release the VoiceOver button.
The playlist menu - Press and hold the VoiceOver button.

  • Issue with voice over narration for a presentation

When I record a voice over narration (Keynote 09) and then play back - the slides do not always play back with the sound. It seems to be an issue with slides using a build-up ... although it finishes - it then sticks and the sound for the next slide carries on out of sync to the visual - EG - every time I try it happens on the same slides - A good example is one that is followed by a .mov built into a slide. The sound track runs before the new slide image appears - Also I have problems with the movie - as the sound from the .mov file does not come through, so I have to record the movie sound on the narration rack .. confused!?

It sounds like you are making too many assumptions and not actually testing anything.
For instance, emoji may not cause issues for other contacts (maybe it is and you don't know it) but if I were testing this issue, the first thing I would do is remove the emoji from the contact info.
Next thing I would do is make a fake contact called "Home Other". And see if the Voice Control asks you to pick between Home and Home Other
Another thing I would do is add multiple numbers for your home contact (real or fake) And see if you can get the Voice control to find the contact and ask you what number you want to pick. (home or mobile)
And last thought that I had....You mentioned that the Voice Control dials a random person every time, but how random is it really? Are you sure that part of these people's names don't phonetically sound similar to the word Home?

  • Voice over monitor for FCPX sounds awful

I'm trying to voice over a project right now and the monitor for the input out from FCPX sounds like it has an echo and makes your voice sound higher pitched. Is there any one else out there having the same problem? Its really annoying and my VO talent doesn't want to listen to his voice sounding like that for an hour and a half.

First, you don't really have to monitor yourself while recording.  I never do.  Second, you have to use headphones, or your mic will pick up the audio monitors and feedback.  Here are three articles to help out.

  • Voice Over Blutooth for Piconet

    Hi i am sanjana 21 f india
am in the verge of doing a project related to J2ME and bluetooth...
the specs are like we know we can do a voice over commn between two bluetooth enabled phones thats great but that will be limited to 20-30 meters am thinking of extending this to much greater like 100-150 meters
Think where there is a set of trusted phones like 6 phones in an office environment my idea is if no 1 needs to talk to no 6 let the other intermediate phones do the packet delivering work from 1 to 6 , for experimental purpose let the voice quality be low. For my project i would like to establish this concept for at least 3 phones and extend the distance between to say 40 metres ...
plz do help me regarding this whether this can be achievable and if god has given u some time slotted for me Smiley)

  • Can I use voice over just for notifications?

i Want to use voice over but just so I can hear my notifications and messages read to me as they come in. But nothing else. Is it possible. ?

Forgive me as I did this a while ago, but heres how I remember it happening:
    1. I wiped it
    2. I selected "Set up as New iPhone"
    3. It registered
    4. It was activated, and was an iPod Touch basically
    5. I sold it, so I can't try it. I now use Verizon, so no SIM, although I do have an original iPhone (retired), but can't find my old SIM.

  • How to I achieve great voice over audio for a macbook pro

Should I just plug in a mic? Do I need a external soundcard like the "apogee one" or is a USB mic a better solution?
I also play the guitar so maby one day I would like to record some guitar to, but in logic or similar.

Any mic, a quiet room and a good working knowledge of EQ. [The very best of the Logic plugins/"inserts" are in FCPX, btw.] If you don't have a quiet place (like me) then the very best -- BAR NONE -- noise reduction is in ScreenFlow - just take the default setting (80%). It's amazing - no "granular electronic" sound on the edges of quiet and sound like you get in just about everything else.
That said: Zoom mics are really quite good. Inexpensive (H1), portable, and can be used as a USB audio interface (mic and other sources). The S/N is incredibly high - there is no detectable noise in the recording at all - quiet is DEAD quiet. The H1 (as well as the H2 and H4)  has an extra audio input so you can actually use any other mic you like as the recording source, like... a Shure SM-58 (with XLR to 1/8 inch stereo connector).  This particular Shure mic is one of the most popular in the world for all kinds of applications (talk radio, singers, etc...). It will make you sound like "THE VOICE". And the H1 makes the Shure *very portable*. The Zoom mics will also accept Line level input, so you can record from your computer, a CD player, etc...
If you have an acoustic guitar, the H1 + a lavalier mic (Audio-Technica ATR-3350 for instance) clipped to the soundhole (so the mic is inside) sounds unexpectedly good — you decide: http://sight-creations.com/prv/audio/improv_030612_03.mp3 [production notes: strictly an improvised piece (not very good - but doesn't violate anyone's copyright; I was playing with and feeling out a new partial capo); "finished" in Logic with Space Designer>Medium Spaces>Nice Hall (toned down) + Adaptive Limiter (as a signal booster); no noise reduction used whatsoever, and the original source recorded outside on a breezy day with occasional traffic (none of which you will hear!)... I recorded at a lower level to keep extraneous noise out and since the S/N is so high, I can boost the signal in post without adding any unwanted hiss.]
[**I'm not fishing for comments about the music here, I'd rather not hear about it! ... just demo'ing a setup.]

  • Problem with voicer over on IMAC

hello , I have some troubles with Voice over on my IMAC. I am blind and this function is really important for me. I use it for many applications, but my bank had currently changed the graphic of the website, voice over fails to interact with images and so i could not do operations. someone can help me?

I am having problems with my Intel iMac's Firewire 800 as well. I have two WD drives daisychained on the 800 port. After 6 months with no problems, and a few weeks after updating to Snow Leopard the second drive intermittently stopped mounting after sleep. The devices attached to the 400 port were OK. It got worse over a few weeks, and after over an hour on the phone to Apple support and multiple tests (eg linking two computers using target mode), the tech said it was an 800 port hardware problem. My iMac is just back from having the logic board replaced (200 km round trip!!), and it has happened again - the second drive "was not ejected properly" after waking from sleep and has not mounted. WD refuse to support daisychained devices, though I don't think the drives are faulty because I can get them to mount using USB. So, you could have a hardware problem, but it may be a Snow Leopard compatibility problem if you have recently updated - other discussion topics have reported similar problems with firewire drives after updating to Snow Leopard.

  • What kind of the ethernet for iMac 27 inches

Hello this is James Lawrence. I wonder to ask you what kind of ethernet for iMac 27" mid 2011  it is like CAT 5E or other?

Cat 5e cables work just fine.  Cat 6 is only needed for true, full gigabit ethernet, which most people don't really need.  If you are transfering large files, music, or video, cat 6 may be worth investing in as the cables are higher priced than cat 5e.  I use cat 5e cables throughout my house and have no problem with my 50 MBS broadband  service on a mid 2011 27" iMac like yours.  The ethernet port will work with 10/100 switches and hubs just as well as 10/100/1000 gigabit units.

  • Filter for movie trailer voice over?

Does anyone know of a filter I can use in CS6 or purchase that will enable me to alter my voice to sound more like one of those scholarly sounding voice overs used for movie trailers?
    Thanks.

Maybe you don't need a " filter" for after the fact.. you may be able to make your voice sound like that as you record it....
For example, if you wanna sound like a smart person from New England states.. you can put a clothes pin on your nose as you speak.
Use words like, " one has to know one's history to know one's potential, doesn't one ? "
Alternately, if you wanna sound like someone from the SouthWest.. like Texas for example, you can talk through a sock....just roll up a common cotton sock and speak through it into mic....and use words like, " Heck, it aint rocket science to know about the history of this place ! "
add some background stuff like cattle braying and you're in like Flint !

    Hi Imyman,
Apple has determined that the Apple Headphones with Remote included with the iPod shuffle (3rd gen) may fail under certain conditions. If your Shuffle has a certain serial number you can change your Headphones following this procedure:

Hope this will solve your problem as it did for me.
