What webcam?

Can anyone recommend a webcam for me to use? I'm a bit worried about it clashing with the iphone sync as I've heard a lot of bad stories about blue screen of death when syncing if you have a logitech webcam.
I'll be using the webcam for skype & msn messenger.

If you have a fast internet connection you could try the new Microsoft HD Webcam

  • 2008 Mac Mini - what webcam can I buy for this computer?????

OMG help me. I have a 2008 Mac Mini - I need to skype and have tried a few webcams that either just don't work or there is no sound - I understand it nees to be the correct kind for mac... so what webcam can I use on this computer I've been researching for days and can't seem to find any definitive answers anywhere online.... what webcam can I buy for a mini mac 2008??

    Try this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Widescreen-Calling-Recording-960-000694/dp/B004FH O5Y6
Works for me and Skype, anyway.
The microphone will have to be built-in to the camera and USB-connected - like the one above (and NOT a pink 3.5mm plug!)
You also sure you're selecting the correct audio input on the webcams you've already tried?

  • We have moved to another city and we would like to communicate to our friends and family back home via Skype. What webcams work well with our home computer, a vintage 2005 Mac mini with Mac OS X, version 10.5.8?

We have moved to another city and we would like to communicate to our friends and family back home via Skype. What webcams work well with our home computer, a vintage 2005 Mac mini with Mac OS X, version 10.5.8?

You 2005 mini shipped with a PowerPC G4 CPU ranging between 1.25 and 1.5 (late sept 2005) Ghz. PowerPC is not Intel. This mini will not run current releases of Skype for the following reasons:
The current version of Skype claims support for OS X 10.5.8 -- but wants a 1Ghz Intel processor just for voice calls. Their recommendation for video calls is a 1.8Ghz Core 2 Duo Intel CPU and a broadband connection of at least, 4Mbps down and 512Kbps up. Skype requirements.

  • What Webcam works with 10.6, new Quad Mac Pro Desktop?

Brand new Mac. I am looking for a webcam to use for skype. I've used Macs since 1987, but never a webcam! Which one or ones work with OS10.6.4 and my HP ZR22w monitor?

A couple web cams in the Apple Online Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/TS665VC/A
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/TX831VC/A
    According to this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2020:
"What kind of camera? A... USB Video Class (UVC) webcam should work fine." for the purposes of iChat.
So when you go online and search for a WebCam make sure it says in the specs that it is UVC compliant. Also make sure that the specs say it is Mac compatible.
    Hope that helps.

  • What webcams are compatible with OSX Mavericks?

I've been saving and saving and saving to get a webcam compatible with my Mac - latest Mac Mini - and finally have enough extra money for it. (These things are expensive outside the US.)
Problem is, I've heard many webcams don't work with Mavericks (and I have latest update - 10.9.2).
What brands should I be looking at? I preferred Logitech, but I've been hearing bad things about their compatibility.

Any USB webcam that meets the UVC standard can work with your mini (provided your mini is using Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later.)    The seller or devices's documentation can confirm that a given camera is UVC-compliant.
Don't install any software that comes with the webcam.  All necessary software drivers have been part of every Mac OS X version after 10.4.8.  You will save money and may avoid possible software conflicts by not buying features and installing software you don't need.
If you want some specific suggestions from the many available brands and models, take a look at Mac Compatible Webcams.  For a low cost solution from a company that has supported Macs for a long time, consider iCubie.
The best solution for your compatibility concerns with your first webcam is to buy locally.  The retailer who sells you your mini is perhaps the best source for a compatible webcam.  Ask the retailer to demonstrate Mac mini compatibility with the webcam before you buy.  Not only will you be assured of compatibility, you can see the camera operate, know what image quality to expect, and discuss any questions you have so you can start using your new webcam as soon as you get it home and connected.

  • What webcams are G25 users using?

    Hello,
I'm having the same audio compression (chipmunk sound) issue as one of the other users, when I use the 'QuickCam for Notebooks Pro'. I tried using another camera and it worked fine, but it would not clip on to the thick screen of my G25.
Can any of you let me know what kind of cameras your using successfully on the G25?
    Thanks, Bill.

I'm having the same sound problem with my f20 with a quick cam pro 5000. I've found that uninstalling the camera mic resolves the sound issue! but you then have to plug in the supplied headset mic. Logitech suggested a clean installation of the camera software and re-loading the sound card drivers which I did to no avail.next stop Logitech support hotline.

  • What webcam works best with the macbook, once the built in camera breaks?

My built in camera has broken and they want to charge me $280 to fix it so I was wondering what external web cam is most recommended for the Macbook?

  • What webcam is best

I was wondering if anyone knows the best webcam to use with ichat, msn mess., yahoo. I have a Logitech quick zoom webcam right now but I can only get the audio. Yahoo sees nothing.

I luv my isight but before you get one try the site above and lower on the page, you will see a camera list for a driver and don't forget the program.
now if you get an isight, a tad pricy but really good, lol. but there are 2 things I would suggest, iglasses, a program from the same site above that's a "can't do without type of program", http://www.ecamm.com/mac/iglasses/
    and http://www.dvforge.com/products.shtml for the sightflex.
yahoo messenger doesn't support sound for macs unless there was the long awaited update.
http://forums.cocoaforge.com lower on the page you will see a forum for the lastest news and downloads for aMSN that works with macs.

  • What webcams work in 10.4?

I'm looking for webcams for a G4 powerbook and G5 imac for use in ichat and skype. I've called around but it's been frustrating trying to find any updated info. Seems that to use a USB webcam you need to also buy and download a iChatUSBCam for $10, which although is a cheap price, is ridiculous that it isn't included or supported in os 10.4. I need something that is reasonably priced ($40 or under) and works right out of the box (or with free software). I don't think my powerbook has USB2 either. I heard that a firewire webcam would work but they're hard to find. Any help is appreciated.

  • What webcam software is available?

I got my webcam on my T61 widescreen working just fine but there appears to be no webcam management software - just the driver.  That said, can anyone recommend a webcam software similar to logitech's various applications that lets me record video and the like?
    Thanks in advance!   :-)

  • I am looking for a webcam that will plugin and work on my new MacBook Pro running Yosemite?

Just got my new MacBook pro and wanted to plug in my external Logitec Pro 4000 webcam...but it does not appear on any options to use.
So I guess its time to upgrade it... but I can't find ANYWHERE what webcams will plug and play on the MacBook Pro (3/2015 model) running the latest version of Yosemite (10.10.2)
I would LOVE to not have to buy a new camera...but i can't seem to find any other solution.  So ideas?
    Gary

It should plug into one of your USB ports.
If you want a newer external camera, some compatible ones are listed in http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/

  • Still images per second and "shutter times" for webcams

Hi! I'd like to know how frequent a webcam (such as Optia AF) can take still images (at for example 2 megapixel) and send them to the PC via USB. Also, I'd like to know how long the "shutter time" is for still images, and if it can be adjusted. I want to be able to take sharp still images of moving objects and to process those images in near realtime. What webcam would be good to use for this purpose?I would be grateful for any advice!

Great news. For Time-Lapse, I probably go with 3 - 5 Frames for my Stills Duration most often, but it depends on the look and feel that I am trying to obtain, and also the interval that the shooting took place. Sometimes I end up with less, but sometimes more - it just depends on the look. I usually do a test Project, and Import a few Images at 3 Frames, then play that many times, to see if I like it. If not, then off I go to 4 Frames, etc.. You were going in the other direction, as you already had a good feel for the pacing of your piece - you just needed to do the math to get there.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
