What Were the First Apple Computers Like?

Hello fellow Apple users. I am interested in knowing more about the very first Apple commputers. I have been using Apple products for a few years (iPods, iPads, ect), but I have just made the switch to Mac! I made this switch for a few reasons. One, within a year of getting a PC, they would self destruct someway, somehow. Having used iPhone and iPad for quite a while, I saw that Apple prosessors seem to operate faster the the PC. Now I am happy to be a Mac owner!
I have become a loyal Apple customer because I love Apple products so much. After seeing the movie "Jobs", I am eager to know more about the history of the Apple computer. Altough I remember using the Apple computer in grade school, I'm not old enough to have seen the Lisa. My memory of the Apple computer goes back to the early 2000s.
I guess my question is, what were the first Apple computers like? What features did they have? What kind of software did it have?
If anyone knows anything about these older computers, please sure your information, if you don't mind. I greatly appreciate your time in reading my post and providing any answers. Thank you!

Mactracker, a multi platform app for the Mac OS, iOS has been around for a while. I like the iOS app in case I find a Mac in a store or in a yardsale and want to know the vital stats on a specific model.
The Mac platform has a history of probably well over 300 different models in its almost 30 year history. Apple produced other models like the famous Apple II, but there was only a handful in that franchice. Also Apple made printers, input devices like joysticks, speakers, etc. They tried to get into the digital photography with the "QuickTake" camera but didn't do well.
I was too young for the Lisa too, but they only made 10,000 of them, many unsold went into a dump in Utah, they are the second to the Apple I in terms of collective value. The Lisa was SO ahead of its time, the NeXT Cube was probably the second most high tech computer ahead of the real world market.
I've used Macs since I was very young (actually first computer was ether a Mac II or LC w IIe emulator) and I use PCs as well as Macs today. The Mac has slowly been more business friendly (I do a lot of business and enterprise IT stuff) and I hear you about the self destructiveness of their reliablity. I have had my MacBook run for months without a need to shut down or even a restart - wished my iPad or PC can do that!

  • So, when will the networks allow 99 cent tv rentals?  I think the first Apple TV has so much more to chose from.  What will happen with the Apple TV 2?

Anyone know what will be the outcome of Apple TV 2 as far as being able to rent shows from all networks?  You can get just about anything on the first apple tv.

TV rentals were not and are unlikely to ever be available on AppleTV 1 (although I think in some ways it is still better than AppleTV2).
Other than for direct purchasing as opposed to renting I've not noticed that much difference in content availability but our content is relatively poor anyway in UK compared to US, especially in terms of pricing.

  • What were the suggested apps to install the first time you open the AppStore?

I just got a new ipad...never used one before so please bear with me. I just want to ask...what were the list of suggested apps to install that popped up the very first time you open the appstore? It was maybe four or five apps that was listed. One of them was iBook I think and an app to find your ipad...I don't remember the rest. Does anyone remember or knows the list? Thanks!

  • I have photos on my iPad (the first apple device in our household) and then added an iMac and a macbook air. How do I get all of my photos on all devices. Myoriginal iPad has images not on my 2 newer devices and my 2 new devices do not share the same phot

I have photos on my iPad (the first apple device in our household) and then added an iMac and a Macbook air to our network. We have an airport 2TB back up device.  How do I get all of my photos on all devices. My original iPad has images that my 2 newer devices do not have on iphoto.

My original iPad has images that my 2 newer devices do not have on iphoto.
How are the images stored on your original iPad? Are they in the camera roll, in events downloaded using the camera connection kit, or are they in albums synced to your ipad from a computer?
If the photos are in the camera roll or in events downloaded from a camera, you can transfer them to your iMac and MBA by directly connecting the iPad using USB. Then you can download the photos to iPhoto like from a camera.
Only, if your photos have been synced to the iPad from a computer, you will have to save them first to the camera roll; then you can download them by connecting the iPad via USB.
What IOS version has your iPad?
For new photos you might consider using Photo Stream to transfer your photos between the devices.

I'm thinking of getting a used Mac mini but it must have two video outputs, not mirrored.  When were the first ones made?  And what sort of processor did they have?

  • Is iCloud is available for Apple TV 1st generation (the first Apple TV), is iCloud is available for Apple TV 1st generation (the first Apple TV)

    Hello,
I have the first Apple TV and I wanted to know if the iCloud is available for 1st generation Apple TV. Becuase my Apple TV is updated however I couldn't find Purchased Like under the TV Shows.
Can You help me please with my Question
    Regards,

Apple TV 1 hasn't been updated in awhile and there is no reason to think there will be anymore as it's a discontinued product running a separate OS from the current model.

  • Do you "defrag" apple computers like other computers? My laptop seems to be running slow, and someone suggested defrag to get rid of "cookies"

Do you "defrag" apple computers like other computers? My laptop seems to be running slow, and someone suggested I defrag it to get rid of "cookies" that can slow it down.

You are confusing two different things.
RAM is memory, not hard drive space.
To see how much free space you have open any Finder window and it will tell you at the bottom of the window.
Or you can look in Disk Utility.

  • First timer.  Just installed Time Capsule.  The first backup looks like it will take two days at the pressent speed.  Can I close MacBook Pro and have first back up  continue, and can I unplug and plug in at work without affecting the backup?

I'm a first timer on this (or any) help site. I just installed Time Capsule.  The first backup looks like it will take two days at the present speed.  Can I close MacBook Pro and have first back up continue, and can I unplug tomorrow and plug in at work without affecting the backup?

    Hi Oneinspirit,
Time Machine backups can be paused by choosing "Stop Backing Up" from the Time Machine icon on the right hand side of your menu bar ( ). Once you're ready to resume the backup, you can choose "Back Up Now" from the same icon.
Start a backup: Click the Time Machine icon  in the menu bar, then choose Back Up Now.
Pause a backup: Click the Time Machine icon  in the menu bar, then choose Stop Backing Up.

  • What is the best apple product

What is the best apple product excluding iMacs

The best Apple product is the way each product can share content and work toghether with other products and the way each software share data and information with other pieces of software and the way you get information and help from Apple itself and in these communities. The magic is you can start from any of the member of this team (iMac MBP iPhone iPad.....) each of them are already fitted with a lot of good software, but you can load each of them with specific Apps according to your wishes and your needs.
Buy the product you like more and you will be sure it is the best one for you.

  • What is the best Apple software for special effects

I am 14 and made a couple of movies with my friends using airsoft guns. I want to make something realistic and do something similar to Freddiew's youtube channel. What is the best Apple software for making keyed effects and then being able to make them look realistic. I have used effects in Imovie and never liked how chessy it looks. Also I can learn programs pretty easy like Unity, Blender, and Xcode.
Any suggestions on where to start

  • What were the site designers thinking?

Please tell me, what were the site designers thinking when they redesigned the Adobe.com site?
I mean, I"m not un-savvy in the world of technology.  I've been using it for nearly 20 years professionally.  I write code, I engineer solutions, I even do reverse engineering on various technologies (software and hardware).  However, the new site is so horrible to navigate, that simply finding the products I already own is nearly impossible.  There's no "my downloads" or "My software", or even a "serial numbers for my crap" menu.  Instead, there is a beautiful, but largely non-functional, set of menus, all perfectly aligned to the pixel for my particular browser and window dimensions.
The level of frustration with this approach is ridiculous.  Sure, it looks great, but there is a decided lack of functionality.  Even the search feature takes me to the trial downloads, not the main "All downloads for things I've already had the misfortune of purchasing".
Seriously Adobe, get it together and think about what your returning customers might need.  Not what your art school instructors might want to see as a new cutting edge concept site layout.  The site is beautiful, but REALLY LACKING in all the normal functional elements that a typical end or enterprise user would like to see.  Counter intuitive would be the nicest way to describe the product access features.  Please fix this.

This is the development forum for Adobe Business Catalyst - The website solution and for it's development.
You should only have access here if your on the BC development program and this has no relevance to the Adobe Site itself, the BC team has no involvement on that.
