Dunno what you want, MSI is the only brand which has at least a "real" soundcard on its board (Sound Blaster Live! 24bit) unlike most others who equip their boards with that AC-97 crap. So, even though its not for audiophiles, its pretty much the best board when it comes to onboard sound. And I havent had a single problem with my board so far, actually its the first time ever, I use onboard sound.
People who need high end audio hardware should go for the available PCI solutions.

I'm going to save my old Hi8 tapes on a hard disk using final cut pro x, to save it for the future. But how shall I export it, and in what will be the best quality to save it in?

Hi Carsten...good luck with your project.. I had just about as many Video8 & Hi8 tapes as
you that I digitized and eventually brought into FCPX..took me many months not weeks
to do so,BTW, as each tape was 60-90 minutes in lenght...and many hundreds of
gigab ytes of storage ( uncompressed AVI files)..it's tedious work unless you plan to farm
it out to a processing house...also regarding eventual storage format...remember
Hi8 is 400 lines or about 540X480 in todays resoultion metrics..you can't make hi-def out
of source that starts out as 400 lines...in my case I rewrapped the avi files into .mov
containers and imported the mov files into FCPX where I got rid of the hundreds of
minutes of Colorado mountain landscapes to get to that one minute shot of the kids
on horseback  ( late 80's for most of my archives)..so its a job..scouring thru 30X90 min
of source to not miss those precious memories takes diligence and hard work but its worth
it; eventually I encode the uncompressed video I want to save in H.264 format Staandard
    Def not HiDef

  • What will be the Microsoft(Windows) future?

    Hi Everyone,
I totally agree Microsoft is a Pioneer in OS i.e Windows. It was having a stable Windows XP/7 Operating System. But in recent years they came up with the Metro
Design that is Windows 8(Windows RT), the people started moving away from Windows as it was a bit confusing to use and of course nothing much to explore probably
because of less applications in the store. I feel the Win 8/8.1 looks OK with the tablet but didn't see this in many hands.
Similarly the Windows phone, the phone looks cool in the first sight and after buying it people may feel that there is nothing much to explore and everything kept
very simple, very less number of applications in the Windows Phone Store too.
I think the users are somewhat OK with Windows Phone but not at all with Windows Metro Desktop.
Last year it came with up with Windows Universal concept in Windows 8.1 where a developer using VS 2013 we can develop Single application for both Phone and Desktop/Tablet.
The Windows Phone Silverlight took off and Windows Phone RT came into picture to keep common set of libraries for both. But I see people still
comfortably using Windows Phone 8 for development as it has powerful set of libraries and they don't have plan to port it to Desktop Metro.
Again this year Microsoft announced the release of Windows 10 where with respect to development one application without any modification runs on phone and
dektop/tab and with respect to user the Metro Template in Windows 10 has put into a small corner and the Windows 7 kind of look and feel is back.
So my question is if they are reducing the Windows Metro look and feel in Windows 10 why they are providing so much updates for Universal App Development and
cutting off the updates for Non Metro application development.
Please take this upfront in the forum and experts can give suggestions for the Windows Phone/Metro/Desktop(Non Metro) Developer what is our future and give us
the right way to enhance. And also let the users know what they can expect from Windows Phone/Desktop in future.
Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
    Thanks,
Thanks and Regards Sunil Kumar S C

    Hi Sunil Kumar S C,
    Thank you for your suggestion.
Our forum is WPF development forum. We only provide support for the development of WPF technology.
In my personal opinion, the windows future will be better. You would see the market share of win8/wp8/win8.1/wp8.1/win10 is up. More and more developers will build apps for win10.
In recent months, the new CEO Satya Nadella proposed “mobile first, cloud first”, Microsoft has launched a series of products. Such as Surface Pro 3, office for iphone, ipad and android. Even the mobile version of office is free editor for user.
In other words, in addition to windows, office and Azure cloud services are for users who do not use the windows device. So I think the windows future will be better.
About “the Microsoft(Windows) future”, I suggest that you could focus on “Build2015” next week.
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • I can't access my iPhone backup(automatic encryption) so will have to set up phone as new. Haven't been able to work out what password A has allocated so will all future backups be also encrypted unless Apple finds a way around this?

I can't access my iPhone backup (automatic encryption by iTunes, not through choice!) so am resigned to setting my iPhone 4 up as new phone, because I can't determine which of my passwords has been allocated. Has anyone else gone down this path and will all future backups also be encrypted unless Apple works out a way around this or I can work out my password?

You might want to try contacting Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click See All Products and Services>iTunes>iTunes Store>Passwords & Security Questions>Lost or Forgotten Apple ID password.  They should be able to explain what's going on and help you reset the password for the old ID if necessary.  The call should be free.

  • What will skype do in the future to prevent these ...

I downloaded the skype 6 a few days ago. I liked the new layout and enjoyed that it went to the oldest new-message. However, like many people I discovered that the group chat picture doesn't work correctly. In a group where the picture is changed a few times a day and often times part of the discussion, this is very annoying. However there is no fix for this problem, just a vauge reply that windows will fix this in the next update. It feels as though windows is not taking this issue seriously and we may have to wait a month or more before it is fixed.
Why did this problem make it through? I did not see something that said "beta" when I downloaded this- I just uninstalled my old skype and installed the latest versionl.
What measures did windows take to test the new skype? Did you have people beta test it? If so did you give people a checklist of specific things to test out, along with letting them play around? Did you tell them to chat with people who had the old version and the new? How long did you have people beta test this program?
Were you aware of this glitch before it was released? Please answer this honestly. I am aware that programming is difficult, ect. ect. however you have left the glitchy program up as the new skype download, despite this problem.
What will you do going forward to make sure that problems like this don't happen.
If you were aware of this and don't plan to change your practices I would rather change to linux programs. I doubt it will make a big difference to a huge corperation like windows, so please tell me so that I know what to do going forward.
    Sincerely,
Someone who Spends far too Much Time Online.

We are still working to release the fix for this issue. It's only affecting legacy peer-to-peer chats, e.g. ones that were created more than a year ago. If this functionality is super important you can re-create this chat as a modern server based cloud group chat by issuing the "/fork" command in the old group chat. This will create a separate new group chat with a different history starting anew, but it has the same members in it. You need to judge how important the group chat picture feature is for you.
...and if I may be so curious: Can you share a bit how you use the group avatar functionality that you are updating it multiple times a day? Are you discussing movie posters/adverts? Or is your group a design community?

  • Is there a replacement for CS6 coming out soon and what will it be called

Is there a replacement coming out for CS 6 and what will it be called

Adobe still sells CS6 (for now anyway).
    http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_c reativesuite6.html
Click the Buy button then I want to buy: Upgrade. Then complete your purchase.
However, the days of upgrading every other version are gone. Before Adobe released the Cloud, starting with CS6, they amended the upgrade policy and were requiring upgrades with every version.
But that all disappeared soon after when Adobe chose to discontinue perpetually licensed versions altogether last year and go 100% Cloud (subscription) only when they launched CC. They're still selling CS6 for those who insist on it but it'll no doubt disappear over time and there will be no CS7 perpetually licensed version.
The future in Adobe's eyes without doubt is the Cloud, requiring monthly payments and automated periodic license checks on Adobe servers via the internet.

What video format (including embedded audio) is able to be viewed and heard by both OSX Lion users and Windows users?
You have to make a distinction between the container format (eg, AVI, MKV) and the video/audio format (eg, DIVX). For instance, without additional software, QuickTime can play .avi files with the IndeoVideo codec, but not .avi file with the DivX codec). Further, you have to make the distinction between what can be played using an independent player, eg, QuickTime Player, and what can be played within the presentation software (Keynote or PowerPoint).
    You can refer to
    <http://mac2.microsoft.com/help/office/14/da-dk/powerpoint/item/7acce321-36fb-48d 6-8c76-12cb3a0063ee>
for suggestions. In practice, for presentation clips, I think you're limited to MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. I don't know if an additional MPEG-2 QuickTime component is required under Lion, you'll have to check that yourself. So, in the end, it's MPEG-4. Both Keynote and PowerPoint Win/Mac should be able to handle it.
can anyone suggest a safe application that I can purchase from the apple app store that will allow me to convert video files
What's a 'safe application'? And why do you have to buy it from the App Store (yuck!)?
Handbrake, as mentioned by X423424X, is free and works very well. There are probably others, too.
this forum is the best place to learn
Perhaps, but it may not be the place to get answers to this question. Try a PowerPoint Mac user forum, they would have more experience in these x-platform issues. This forum is oriented more towards the hardware side of the MBP platform.

  • What is the future of windows embedded compact ?

as the architecture has changed totally on windows embedded phone 8, and there is windows 10 on ARM. so what is the future of this platform?

I don't believe Microsoft can let you know exactly. But it may be a good idea to move towards WPF for new applications developed as WPF has much greater capability, is more in line with above Windows 7 OS apps and even though more difficult to learn than
Windows.Forms is a move forward in developing UI's with much greater flexibility than Windows.Forms. Also nothing is being upgraded with regard to future development for Windows.Forms while apparently not the case with WPF (see bottom link).
Support for Windows Forms will end whenever Microsoft removes the capability from .Net Framework I suppose. As far as I know
Windows 10 supports Windows Forms applications because whatever .Net Framework comes installed on it supports Windows Forms applications.

  • What is the Future for MAEMO 5 Ahead ?

Hello Everyone, Greetings from India !!
I know for the fact that this forum is mostly for people who have already bought the N900 and who may have some technical queries about their product. But with the N900 just been launched in this part of the world, people here have just started to understand, explore and use it. So I am one person who is just about to, on the verge of buying the N900 but have some concerns...
Maybe this question would have been discussed here a lot of time, but since I am new to this community, I thought I will try to know this from you guys. With Meego already been announced as Nokia's new OS for Tablets and smart phones. What is the Future left for MAEMO 5. Will there be no future support, Firmware updates for MAEMO as Nokia now, has decided to Abandon MAEMO. Will there be any Upgrade in Version for MAEMO. If some one like me who has liked the N900 in its current state also, but is worried about the MAEMO 5 Future in terms of version upgrade and firmware update. when compared to Android, which keeps coming out with improvised versions...Ver 1.6, 2.1 and now 2.2 slated to release... How should one look at this entire thing..
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
I will be purchasing this handset next month too.
My opinion is that due to the fast moving technology of this market new handsets,o.s and software will always be round the corner.
To hold off to see whats round the corner would make you end up not getting anything new for fear of not getting the next new thing.
The beauty of the n900 is that it wide open for software etc with someone always out there providing newly written stuff.
My advice is to do your homework and read up on all the info , ends users views and if the fone/internet tablet still ticks all the boxes you need then buy it.
Just remember its an internet tablet with making calls technology added on so it wont have all the usual options you would get on a standard handset.
Perform a search on here and you will see lots of interesting threads what will answer most of your questions you could have with the n900.

  • What is the future of Oracle Discoverer?

I posted some of my thoughts on this one http://www.appsbi.com/2007/03/19/what-is-the-future-of-oracle-discoverer-freeware/
and thought who could be better to answer other than Discoverer users themselves. Do you think it makes sense to release Discoverer as a freeware tool or best as an Open source tool?
    regards
    Nilesh
    http://www.infocaptor.com

    Hi Bob
You mustn't believe everything you hear from an Oracle sales person. The sales reps have a vested interest in making you believe that OBI SE, which includes Discoverer, will not be here because they earn a lot more commission if they can get you to use EE.
They are right though in that Oracle is developing a tool that will migrate the Discoverer metadata into the Siebel metadata but this is only aimed at making you upgrade to Siebel - which is about 4 to 5 times the cost of Discoverer by the way. Siebel won't be replacing Discoverer, it will be an alternative. A nice, sexy looking, powerful alternative, yet an alternative nevertheless.
Discoverer will still be here and you will then have a choice as to whether you stay with standard edition or migrate to enterprise edition. Now of course if you have plenty of money there is nothing stopping you from upgrading, but for most people that option is out of the question right now. Oracle would need to reduce the price for EE if it is to tempt most of the Discoverer organizations into EE. Heck, there are hundred of companies still using 3.1 never mind 10g Release 2. And how many folks who have 10.1.2 have upgraded to 10.1.2.2, even though its been out a few months now and fixes all those GUI issues that they have?
From what I know, Oracle never makes claims for a product more than 2 releases out and Discoverer certainly has 2 releases in the pipework. There's a release 10.1.2.3 due out in a couple of months and a major 11g release next year. After that it would have a support life of a minimum of 5 years, even if they stopped it after 11g, during which time anything can happen. As you know, 5 years in IT is an absolute age.
Your posting certainly makes for interesting reading though and I'm sure there will be plenty of commets. If you hear any other interesting snippets I'd love to hear.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • What will happen

    Hi all,
There are some scenarios what will happen --
{1} If I am taking backup in archive log and doing restore, recovery in noarchive log.
{2} If I am taking backup in noarchive log and doing restore, recovery in archive log.
Then what can be the possible problems in future.(i.e. what is the difference)
    I am working on Oracle 10g Release2.
    Thanks
    Awanish.

Ehhh?! Very strange question and backup-restore-implementation!
How do you execute a restore is not a problem. The real question should be "what happens if I am running the database in ARCHIVELOG/NOARCHIVELOG mode in case of crash and a restore is needed?"
If you run the database in archivelog mode you are able to restore to a point-in-time and you can run hot backups. In the case you run the database in noarchivelog mode you must take cold backups and you are not able to execute a point-in-time recovery because you have no archivelogs.
In both your question you can restore but after you switch the archive mode you are subjected to the above mentioned situation.
    Bye, Aron

  • With the depracation of Spry what will replace it in DW "Behaviors?"

Considering that Adobe has stopped supporting Spry,
    http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/08/update-on-adobe-spry-framework-availability.htm l
and will almost certainly elide it from future versions of DW any ideas as to what will be the replacement for the “behaviors” such as the “slide effect” that depend on Spry?
    VL Branko

    VL Branko wrote:
I asked that question because I went to trouble of figuring out how to implement the "slide effect" only to find out it is destined for the scrap yard. This is starting to get old. First I spent the time to learn Adobe GoLive which has now GoneDead then bit the bullet to learn (still learning) DW only to find that now Spry supported Behaviors will go the same way as GoneDead.
Progress marches on. And, if we don't progress it will march right over us.
I think I will try to look for a CSS based solution, it looks to have a longer shelf life.
I mourned GoLive when it's death was announced those years ago, but I'm a much much better designer/coder now that it's gone. I didn't realize at the time that GL was holding me back in such a significant way. It was a crutch for a leg that had healed long ago and I was afraid to leave it behind and take the steps I ultimately had no real pain taking.
Change is in the nature of the internet. The "best new thing" is only the "best new thing" until the "better newer thing" comes along. You really can't rely on programs to do the work for you in this type of ever-changing medium. Whether it's GL, DW or the host of other programs out there, without a firm grasp of current HTML and CSS rules and functionality, the programs will always let you down at some point. Adding a working knowledge of  javascript (jQuery) and  PHP would also be advisable. They've stood the test of time and have only gotten better as they've gotten older.
It is possible (I'd say "very likely" at some point in the future) that something better will come along and replace everything we currently use piece by piece. When that happens, we as professional webguys and webgals will need to change along with it. If we don't, we can get new jobs at the Internet Museum doing tours for all the little nerdlettes that come through the doors to see how grampa used to actually code in H.L.T.M. and S.C.S. (or whatever the heck they were called back then).
The internet forces you to stay on your toes and keep learning, if you have the right attitude, that can be one of the most fun parts of working with it.

  • What will happen to iPod 5G's info when I do a fresh Windows install?

Title basically says it all. I've been using my iPod Video as a storage device as well as for music, and I'm going to do a clean install of Windows XP in the near future-my CD/DVD drive has somehow failed to respond (code 41), so reinstalling Windows to factory settings should do the trick. Only problem I can foresee is what will happen to all the data on my iPod when I reinstall the CD software for iTunes and my iPod drivers-will all the data on my iPod disappear when I reconnect it to my laptop for the first time?
Just wondering if anyone's done this before, as I'll assume it's a typical topic.

When the iPod is connected to the PC after reinstalling Windows, a message will appear asking you if you want to change the computer the iPod is associated with will appear if iTunes is installed; pressing Erase & Sync on this dialog box will delete all content on the iPod that was synced from iTunes. Content copied to the iPod outside of iTunes will not be erased by iTunes unless you explicitly restore the iPod.
