What will happen here?

I have a 1 TB TC. I only have one Mac connected it at the moment. In a few months I will be adding 2 more but by then I suspect there will be little space left on the drive. If I add 2 more Macs then, how will the drive space be distributed?

You didn't answer my question. I wanted to know the space on your internal drive, not the external drive. If you have 400 GB free on the Time Machine drive, and the total space used on your internal Mac drive is 60 GB, the maximum amount of space that a single backup would take is 60 GB. In practice, this is impossible. Each backup should only take something like 6 MB. If it takes any more than than, you need to investigate the cause and fix it. The most common culprits are Entourage and Parallels/VMWare because both of these programs use very large disk images that change frequently. The entire disk images will get backed up after each change. Using these programs can cause Time Machine to eat up space much more quickly than it should. FileVault may also cause problems, but I don't use FileVault so I can't help with that.
I have a 320 GB external drive with 12 GB free. My internal drive is 100 GB on it. That 12 GB of space is plenty for backups and has been for a month or so. I have been running Windows frequently for the past month and that has dropped my free space from 35 GB down to 12 GB on the Time Machine drive. I lose more space on the Time Machine drive when I copy disk images to it than when I run time machine. That same 320 GB drive has weekly backups of my machine since I got Leopard in November. This is the kind of behavior you should expect.

I buy a new iphone 5s and the store open it and put his apple id to download some stuff.. And after that i try to make my own apple id. What will happen if i erase all data and it is in need of apple id.. Will it be the old apple id or my apple id?? I heard that if i erase all data. The apple id of which i buy my iphone will appear and mine will not??

If the store setup the phone with an Apple ID/Password, that is not yours, & turned on Find My Phone, then you will need that Apple ID/Password to re-activate the phone. Called Activation Lock. Read here:

So, go back to the store where you got this phone & have them fix things.

  • What's happening here: iCloud Photos preparing photos for 'Photos' app?

This morning I came back from a weekend trip to Prague, where I took a number of photos with my iPhone 6. On my Mac I fired up iCloud Photos to see if everything was imported properly. That was about an hour ago. Since then I am presented with this screen, saying something like:
    "Welcome to Photos app.
With Photos app you may save your whole iCloud Photo Library ...
Preparing photos ... This may take a few minutes.
... will be continued when you leave iCloud.com."
However, with Yosemite 10.10.2 I don't have the new Photos app for Mac on my iMac!
    Now what is happening here?

I even liked Apples error messages , because most of them were so helpful ... But now the smart guys at Apple seem to be following a more obfuscating strategy, at least sometimes.
I suspect the maintenance work on iCloud Photo Library this weekend has been in preparation for the big life event today - then all will be revealed:   http://www.apple.com/live/

I get an error on my iPhone saying that iCloud photo library storage has run out of space and it will stop uploading photos from my phone. However, my iCloud has 1.5gb of free storage and my photo library only has about 22 photos. So, what's happening here?

Are you using iCloud photo library beta.
Are any of your photos actually video.

  • What will happen to reward certificate once items are returned?

I bought 2 ipads and few other items during thanksgiving holidays and in early december I received $15 reward certificate, i haven't used them until now.
I returned one of the ipads once after the reward certificate issued. My question is what will happen to reward certificate now? Is the $15 reward certificate still valid? What will happen if I use it now, will my account be with negative reward point balance? Will be credit card be charged for the reward points amount for the return items?

    Hi wincitycusotmer,
Thank you for connecting with us on the forum!
It would ultimately depend on how many points you were originally awarded for purchasing the iPad and how many points you had in your account when the return was processed.  Here are a couple examples of possible outcomes:
If you had been awarded 500 points for the iPad and had 700 points in your account, then your balance would drop to 200 points and you would keep the $15 certificate.
If you had been awarded 500 points and only had 300 points in your account, then the $15 certificate would be cancelled and your points balance would be 550.
After using the email address you registered with the forum to review your My Best Buy account, it appears the points you had received for purchasing the iPad have already been removed and the $15 certificate is still active.  If you have any additional questions about your account, please feel free to send me a private message and I will see what I can do to help.  A private message can be sent by clicking on the blue button in my signature.
I hope you have a great day.

  • What will happen if I don't use apple's hdd?

    My HDD is passed away.
I'm using Macbook Unibody(A1342) and I will replace the HDD.
I heard that Apple's HDD has a temperature sensor.
So that If I don't use that, it will be a problem, as I heard.
What will happen if I don't use the Apple's HDD?

The tempeture sensor is on the logic board not the hard drive. Apple doesn't make any hard drives they buy them from other manufacturers.
For a new hard drive try Newegg.com

Here are video instructions on replacing the hard drive on the White Unibody http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/macbook_13_09_unibody_hd/
To transfer your current hard drive I like the applications Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. They make a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive. http://www.bombich.com/index.html or http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
You'll need a cheap SATA external hard drive case. Put the new drive in the case then format and partition the new drive and clone your old drive to the new one. Check that it's set up right by booting up from the external drive. Then replace your old hard drive with the new one and put your old one in the external case.

  • What will happen if I return refurbished iPod?

I made a stupid mistake when I recently ordered a refurbished iPod Nano for my girlfriend for Christmas.
I just didn't realize that the refurbished unit was a 1st generation iPod; I thought I was buying her a 2nd generation unit.
So, what will happen if I return the iPod? The box has been opened and she has used it for a couple of days. Will there be a restocking fee or anything of that sort?

Thanks for the reply and link.
Looks like I might be in trouble since I threw the box away.
I wonder if their "All products must be packed in the original, unmarked packaging" applies to refurbished products that just come in a plain brown box?

  • What will happen if I delete sleepimage?

What will happen if I delete sleepimage? I've read through several posts here but I'm not clear exactly what this does and if there are some dire consequences if I delete this from my laptop to make more room on my HD. Any clarifications much appreciated!

This is a file that the contents of your computer's memory are written to when your computer goes to sleep. It will always be there, or recreated if it's missing, as long as you have a newer Intel based Mac with the new safe sleep mode.
Here's a [MacWorld article|http://www.macworld.com/article/53471/2006/10/sleepmode.html] explaining the sleepimage file.
As a general rule though, you really shouldn't be deleting files from the /private directory without knowing exactly what they are for... the directory is labelled /private for a reason

  • What will happen if City was created as a Display attribue in this case?

    Hi,
I know if you have City as a Navigational Attribute of State and you drop it in front of State in a report, you get details of the of States by Cities (i.e. the drill down) as follows:
    State     City     Total Sales
    DE     Newark     $50,000
         WM     $509
    CA     Bronx     $120,000
         LA     $100,000
What will happen if City was created as a Display attribue?
Can you suggest a typical Display attribute for this scenario?
    Thanks

    Hi.
PC disks should be FAT32 formatted as they come and if you out the disk into an external drive enclosure be it USB or Firewire, your iMac should be able to mount it and read it.
If you want to use this "re-convert" hard drive as your "permanent" external drive for your iMac and nothing else, I would advise you to reformat the disk to the GUID format (partition), which is recommended for all Intel Macs, because they read and write to external drives a little differently from their PPC counterparts.
Here's the link to how to reformat/re-partition a drive to GUID:

  • What will happen to my songs and video if I.....

I have my Ipod loaded with music and videos, but my PC hard drive just crashed. What will happen to the content on my IPod if I load Itunes on a new computer and connect my IPod to it. Someone told me that it will reint the IPod and I will lose all my stuff.

Yes, there is a very real risk of you losing the contents of your iPod.
You should go about recovering that content to your computer first.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

I have lost my harddrive which contains a vast amount of music I've been collecting for many years. I just purchased a new Mac, but I've reached my activation limit. And I only have access to 2 of the 5 activated computers. My old music can still be played on my iPod, but I need to set up another account on my new Mac. What will happen to my music if I were to deactivate all of activated computers?

Authorization determines to which computers material requiring authorization can be transferrred using the itunes interface.  If you want to re-download past purchases then a computer need to be authorized.
As for transferring music from the iPod, your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):
    - Senuti - http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/
    - Phoneview - http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/

  • What will happen after this?

I have a procedure kicked off yesterday to update a table. But I killed it this morning. Just after I killed the session, I kicked off another SQL to perform the same task to update the same table and same columns but faster.
What is happening right now is: the Oracle is performing a roll back on the killed procedure while the new SQL is running.
    So here are my questions:
    1. what will happen later when the SQL is completed and the roll back is not done yet?
    2. Will the roll back affect the new SQL updates?
    Thanks,
    Edited by: user644467 on Mar 11, 2011 9:37 AM

Dive into the concepts manual. A basic concept of Oracle [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28318/consist.htm#CNCPT020]concurrency and consistency is that each (something) gets a view of the database at the start of the (something). (something) is usually a transaction or statement, depending on configuration and programming. Oracle uses System Change Numbers to figure out if each view should include any particular version of block data, kind of like a clock.
So basically, it all works, but you may see performance impacts just because stuff is happening, and you may see odd effects if you don't understand what you are doing. It is different than other database engines.

  • What will happen to my key if my hard disk is formatted, will the key work after my hard disk is formatted ?

I want to know that, will my synchronized computer key will work if I format my hard disk because when hard disk is formatted then the key code will be erased , though I have saved my key will it work after formatting hard disk . let me know .
let me also know that what will happen if I lose the key I had saved then how will I access my synchronized computer .

    Hi!
Can you point to the information where it says that the information is backed up in our servers? If that's mentioned anywhere we need to clarify it.
The only reference I found is here: [[What is Firefox Sync?]] and it specifically says that the information is synched across devices through our servers. If that's misleading, let me know so we can rephrase it.
Regarding storing the key in your pen-drive or any other back up system: This is the best solution and it will work smoothly after you format your computer. The key doesn't change when you format your computer so you will have no issues after all.
