What will happen if I don't get my Mac fixed?

Hello everyone. Just recently (about four days ago) my mom accidentally spilled a cup of Kool-Aid. It went into the side of my Macbook Pro, and in the back as well. It shut off right away and wouldn't turn on at first. My mom and I dryed it off as much as possible and took the back off for it to air off. I tried turning it on afterwards, and it did. It is currently working and I haven't had any major problems with it.
However, when I took it to the Apple Store to make sure things were fine, the guy there told me it NEEDS repaired or it will eventually die. He said it would cost me 1,200 dollars, which is pretty much how much I paid for this Mac, to get it fixed. He said the stickiness from the Kool-Aid will eventually corrode the wires, causing my Mac to die.
Is this true? Or was he trying to get me to buy a new one?
If it is true, how long will my Mac last?
Thank you in advance!

Any liquid could damage the whole MacBook Pro, and once you have spilt it, your Mac may stop working at any moment. See > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5511
That type of repairs are quite expensive because near everything is affected except the display, and maybe the hard drive. In conclusion, what the Genius told you is true. Now you have to decide whether you want to get your Mac repaired or get a new computer.

  • What will happen if I don't use apple's hdd?

So that If I don't use that, it will be a problem, as I heard.
What will happen if I don't use the Apple's HDD?

The tempeture sensor is on the logic board not the hard drive. Apple doesn't make any hard drives they buy them from other manufacturers.

To transfer your current hard drive I like the applications Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. They make a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive. http://www.bombich.com/index.html or http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
You'll need a cheap SATA external hard drive case. Put the new drive in the case then format and partition the new drive and clone your old drive to the new one. Check that it's set up right by booting up from the external drive. Then replace your old hard drive with the new one and put your old one in the external case.

what will happen to my itunes if i dont restore my ipod from my backup?

Nothing happens to iTunes. However, if you don't restore the iPod Touch then your Touch will be restored to it's "as new" condition but with upgraded firmware (if that's what you are going to do.)

  • What will happen if I don't install foxfire 4?

after reading through the many changes you want to provide. as a senior citzen and not wanting change I want to know what will happen to the platform i'm used to?

You can keep on using Firefox 3.6. It is likely to be supported with security updates for quite a few more months.
As you have Windows XP, by default Firefox 4 will look very similar to Firefox 3.6, it will use the old user interface unless you change it to use the new interface.

  • What will happen if I don't synchronize?

Imagine I have a top level singleton object of class Team. This object has a Collection field of objects of class Player. The Team object also has an object reference field that points to a Coach object. The Team class has methods to return, add to, and remove items in the Player Collection, as well as set and get the Coach object.
In addition, assume that the Player and Coach classes also have methods, some of which mutate internal data and others which are guaranteed not to mutate internal data.
Finally, I have two threads, MainThread and ObserverThread. Only MainThread will call methods of Team, Player, or Coach that mutate data. ObserverThread will only call methods that "read" the data, that is, only methods that do not mutate any data. Further, the data obtained by the ObserverThread need only be a best effort; it does not need to be accurate. It doesn't even matter if it makes sense all of the time. My question, then, is do I need to synchronize access to Team, Player, and Coach? What are the possible bad things that can happen if I don't?
As stated, I don't care if the data I get back is wrong. But are there any RutimeExceptions that I'm likely to encounter? Can an unsynchronized read corrupt the data? Are there other possible bad things?
    Thanks in advance.

Can an unsynchronized read corrupt the data? Yes.
Are there other possible bad things?Yes, I have seen the JVM lock up when reading writing the same data in an unsynchronized collection.
I would suggest using synchronization and only optimising it when you know there is a performance issue. Deadlock issues don't count, these are coding errors.

  • What will happen if I don't install ios7 on iphone5

What would happen if I dont eventually install ios7 on iphone5? i've been hearing about all the battery drain issues and reluctant to install ios? I heard something about phone would not functioning properly because of updated new apps on an old software? Will apple fix this issue possibly?
Back when I had a 3G and installed the new update my phone suffered drastically and for 4 yrs was stuck with a phone I had to charge constantly after 2-3hrs of consecutive use or less.

Nothin will happen. you will be able to use the phone the way you are using it right now. Apps crashing is not actaully because of ios 7. ios 7 just came out so most of the app's developer havent actually made their apps compatible with ios7 thats why most ppl are having the issues. If the battery issue is because of ios 7 than Apple defintely will fix all the issues eventually with another update.

  • What will happen to AfterFX when Adobe gets their hands on Nuke?

Way too early to tell whether this will actually take place or not, but still: imagine Adobe owning both Nuke and After Effects - good or bad?

If this lame insult is directed at me
    then.....
sheep-herder had to jump in with a veiled and totally invalid claim
that nuke users already had to subscribe for their software!!!
"They are probably comfortable with that  already..."
...and posted a link as if it supported his remark!!!
I will respond to your inaccurate reading of my post again.Repeating stuff does not make it fact. You were told my point.
I did not make any such claim. The Link provided cost information.
So  ...Nuke users maybe be surprised (delighted even)  that after paying the kind of money they currently pay...were they to get  it cheaper in a subscription model ( if that were to happen).
    Here is a fact.
Adobe CC subscription has given me  more Software  tools than I would have afforded ( or bought)  under the previous licence model and guess what...they are state of current development in technology, integration and efficiency.  Acquired technology no less.
I would expect that  if Nuke technology was brought into the Adobe Apps  that would be a benefit to CC subscribers and Nuke users.
Examples of this technology onflow  advantage to Adobe Apps   is evident through ...Audition (from Cool Pro), SpeedGrade ( from Iridas)...and the cost has flowed down.
    Mean time profits flow up.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I can see that the full charge capacity is too small for a Mac battery or, at least, for a recent Mac. However, I think that OS X is displaying that you have check the battery because its capacity has decreased a lot.
In this case, you can continue using the MacBook Pro until the battery stops working at all or because it doesn't meet your requirements of using the battery. If you can't afford a new battery, wait until you can change your battery

  • What will happen if i let windows 7 scan and fix my ipod?

Everytime that i plug in my ipod into my laptop lately windows 7 wants to scan and fix it. I know not to unplug my ipod without waiting for it to discconnect first so i know that's not the problem.I have been using this ipod on this laptop since i bought my laptop a year and half ago. I just started having the promblem with windows 7 wanting to scan it almost a week ago.I also update my itunes whenever the newest ipod comes out. My ipod also works just fine. What could be wrong with my ipod that it wants to scan and fix it? If i allow it to scan and fix it will it delete all of my music?

Maybe there is a setting in Windows that will prevent it from doing the scan.  But it is possible that the iPod's storage has data corruption.
If there are songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes library, you are taking a risk because iPods can become broken or lost (or need a Restore because of data corruption).  Doing a "scan and fix" now may or may not do any harm, but you are likely to lose that music eventually.  If you want info on off-loading songs from an iPod, you can post back.
If all of the songs on the iPod are in your iTunes library, you should have iTunes do a Restore.  The Restore button is on the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes.  That will erase the iPod, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings. You can then re-sync everything back on the iPod.

  • What will happen when I lock a view?

When I lock a view using lock table* statement, what will happen?*
    Is the view get locked?
Or all the base tables are locked from which view is created?
    Or no lock is applied?
    :D

    OrionNet wrote:
    Sohil,
Exact what lock statement you are using.
If following statement used, then you will able to query (select) both the table and view.
??? Oracle table lock never keeps other users from querying a table, and a query never acquires a table lock. So I am not sure what were you trying to say. Anyway, locking a view locks all base tables:
    SQL> create or replace
      2  view emp_dept_vw
      3  as
      4  select ename,dname
      5  from emp e,dept d
      6  where d.deptno = e.deptno;
    View created.
    SQL> select object_name
      2  from user_objects
      3  where object_id in(select id1 from v$lock where sid=(select sid from v$mystat where rownum=1))
      4  /
    no rows selected
    SQL> lock table emp_dept_vw in share update mode;
    Table(s) Locked.

Nikon say that you need 10.6.5+ for the latest firmware, although I don't see why.
Thanks for that! I was looking for that manual, but for some reason, couldn't find it.
I guess I'll have to contact Nikon and find out what the real story is. The camera was introduced in '08 or '09, so I'm wondering why you'd need software as recent as 10.6.5??
    Still very confusing.  :-?
Why does it state that the camera is compatible with "10.4.11, 10.5.8..."? Does that mean that anything between 4.11 and 5.8 is incompatible???
BTW, I tried downloading the 10.5.8 combo update recently and got an error message that the update was "corrupted" after it was all downloaded, so I was not able to install that.

    Hello jwhhunt,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Your iPhoto Library is stored separately from your iPhoto application, therefore reinstalling iPhoto as the error message describes, will not affect your iPhoto Library.
