What will i loose if i reset?
i have forgotten my password for the restriction on purchasing apps. I have read a few comments on how to reset but i am not sure what i will loose by resetting everything. Can someone help me out? thanks
You will lose nothing but also it won't help your password situation. My understanding is that you must do a Restore but I don't know which passwords will be be renewed when you restore from backup.
Restore...
Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

I have run into a problem where the database contains incorrect information about the location of some files. I could do an easy search and replace for all the occurences, but if I recreate the database as Apple suggests http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313 - what will I loose?
I have run into a problem where the database contains incorrect information about the location of some files.
Following that article will not fix the location of those files.

What will I lose if I reset network settings? Was advised to try this to improve performance
What will I lose if I reset my network settings? Was advised to try this to improve performance. Will it make significant changes that I cant recover?
Resetting network settings clears out all your wi-if passwords as well as any other associations with wi-networks you've made. For example, if you connect to your coffee shop's open wi-fi network automatically you will need to manually rejoin it like you did the first time to re-establish that association. It will also erase any Bluetooth pairings you've setup.

What will be lost when I reset my keychain?
My computer is telling me it can't find my keychain, and I just want to know exactly what will happen if I decide to reset it? I don't want to lose anything important.
You will have to re input your passwords for each site or app you open that you had stored in your old keychain.
You might try opening the Keychain application and see if your old one is there. Select it and try using Keychain First Aid to repair it. -
What will i loose if i install a fresh 10.5.2?
i installed some software that i guess, isnt compatible with 10.5.2. i would like to format my imac and start with a fresh install of 10.5.2. is there anything that comes on my computer that i wont find on my mac os discs? there are tow discs. all that i believe i should have is the os and ilife. and some demos of microsoft office, but i dont care if i get those back or not.
thanks.
nickthanks for the welcome and the responses. actually, i was kind of vague and when i look back at the post, and a little misleading. i would like to install pro tools. i know its not supported yet, but i just need to install the drivers to use my mbox with logic. i dont really need to run pro tools, just install it. i didnt post that part because i thought itd be confusing.
anyway... so heres the story.
i bought a 20inch imac 2.4 and it came with leopard. im running 10.5.2. im not sure if i upgraded to 10.5.2, or if thats the version it came with. i would like to install protools. if for some reason something goes wrong, i would like to be certain that if i need to format and reinstall the os, i wont be missing any programs.
i guess the real question is, is there anything that comes installed on my computer that i didnt get on a dvd of cd as well? this is my first mac and whenever i bought a pc the first thing i would do is format it and reinstall the os because they put so much trial garbage on the computer it would be bogging down from the get go.
thanks for the help. -
If i reset my phone will i loose contacts
if i reset my phone will i loose all my contacts?
It really depends what you mean with reset.
Factory Restore?
Updating your iOS?
Restarting your iPhone?
Factory Restore:
If you back your files, no.
Updating your iOS?
Backup, and everything is stored.
Restarting your iPhone?
Let me ask you a question, you restart your PC, did you lose any of your files? -
If i reset my ipod will i loose my imessage
if i reset my ipod will i loose my imessage
If yuo do this reset then no:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Otherwise what do you mean by reset? -
HT1430 Will I loose my pictures by resetting my I pad?
Will I loose my pictures if I reset my iPad?
What kind of reset?
Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple and let it reboot. That kind of reset, your data is not in danger.
But if you go into the settings, general and those reset options can wipe your data. Reset network settings means you'll need to reconnect to all your networks. And restoring to factory defaults is just that. Wiping it to out of box state. You can use your last iTunes backup to restore the data, but only what was on your iPad when you last backed it up. -
I just bought iPad Air I have an older iPad if I reset my old iPad will I loose all my music n media on my new iPad??

Transferring your prepaid cellular data account depends on your carrier. AT&T lets you move it yourself when you go to Cellular Data in Settings and log into your account with your previous AT&T user name and password. For iPads with Sprint service, you can set up an account on the new iPad and contact Sprint Customer Care (888-211-4727 and go through the menus) to deactivate the old plan and get credit for unused service. For Verizon, call the company’s customer service number for mobile broadband support (800-786-8419) and ask to have your account transferred.

My ipad2 hanged while lock, i can't reset or turn it off. What will i do!
My ipad2 hanged while lock, i can't reset or turn it off. What will i do?
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Hi, I'm trying to restore factory setting on my IPhone 4 and I have some concerns.
First, will it downgrade operating system to IOS 5 from 6?
And another question is what about cell phone service provider? Will I loose them too?
Let me know. Thanks in advanceNo, it will not revert to iOS 5. You will stay on iOS 6.
Restore Factory Settings will not cause you to lose your cellular provider. But it may require you to re-activate with your current provider. -
What all information will i loose if I sync iPhone with another computer?
Hey,
Just wanted to understand what all information will i loose if i sync my iphone with another computer?
will i loose my contacts and messages?
Thanks
Cheers
DiveshSyncing your iPhone with iTunes on another computer will not erase all data on your iPhone. SMS/MMS will not be touched, photos/video in your iPhone's Camera Roll, the same for notes, email accounts, and iPhone settings.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first with a warning message provided indicating this will happen.
You can sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications on multiple computers.
You can transfer iTunes content and photos from one computer along with syncing contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications.
When connecting your iPhone to iTunes on another computer, you will be provided a warning message that your iPhone has been synced with iTunes on another computer. If you don't select to transfer any iTunes content or photos from another computer, no iTunes content and photos that were transferred from a different computer will be erased from your iPhone. If you select to sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks only with the supported applications on another computer, only this data will be touched on your iPhone. -

Not much. You will have to re-enter your WiFi passwords, and may have to redo some of your Settings.
