I have an existing new belkin modem router which works fine with quiet a few wired and wireless products in my house. Your will need to perform a Factory Default Reset on the TIme Capsule to clear out the current network settings and then reconfigure it to "join" your wireless network using the AirPort Utility setup application.
To perform the Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule....
Pull the power cord from the back of the device
    Wait a few moments
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule and keep holding it an additional 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power cord back in to the Time Capsule
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow 25-30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
    On your Mac.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Continue
Follow the guided setup and choose the "join" option when it appears duriing the setup
You will need to know the exact type of wireless security that the Belkin router is using to enter this information during the setup of the Belkin. Otherwise, the Time Capsule cannot join the network, and you will receive an error message after the configuration process.

  • Hi everyone, I have an old g4 desktop it runs on 0S 10.3. I want to get connected to my wireless router but I am getting a bit confused on what I need to buy to do this. I have looked on ebay at pci cards, usb cards

    Hi everyone,
I have an old g4 desktop which runs on osx 10.3. I want to get it connected to my wireless router but I don't know what I need to buy to do this. I have tried a usb card which did not work. Do I need a pci card or an airport extreme card?
    Many thanks,
    Acphot

To build on what Tesserax says, not all USB sticks will work on Panther, but here is one that does:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/MXP3802NU2C/
I have one of these and it works with both a PowerMac G4 running Leopard and a 1998 PowerBook G3 running Panther.
And here's a little more free advice.
Some of the older G4 desktops like my PowerMac 3,6 only take the original AirPort card, which is different from the newer machines that take the newer AirPort Extreme card. Both are available if you hunt for them, but modern WPA-2 encryption is not supported on the original AirPort card, so it will not be able to join your network if it has this encryption. The newer AirPort Extreme airport card does support WPA-2 encryption, as does the NewerTech USB AirPort stick. If your G4 takes the older card, you cannot plug in the newer AirPort Extreme card. I have not looked lately, but I believe the sockets themselves are different. In any event, the NewerTech USB stick is cheaper than an AirPort card.
If you don't already have Mactracker, you can download it for free here:
    http://mactracker.ca/
You can look up your Mac on it and see which AirPort card it has. You can also check out what upgrades are available.
A couple of good things to do is to max out the RAM and upgrade the OS. OWC will have the RAM and they are very knowledgable about Macs and can advise you on any hardware upgrades they offer. You would probably have to look at EBay to find a retail disc for upgrading to Tiger or Leopard, and preferably the latest version of the OS that is supported. Panther has some limitations, and I beleve that Google no longer supports Panther so you might need to find a different browser if you stay with Panther.
    Good luck!

  • What device i should buy

    hello guys
    (sorry for mi grammar)
i have a little problem, what device i should buy for this type of application
a simple midlet program that send information to a router wireless (wi-fi)
some guys said me buy a pc pocket or palm with wireless card incorporated
the point is, i need your opinion coz, your knowledge is more important and real that google, is marketing of prices and products
    thanks in advanced

As for me, you should use ASUS or NETGEAR cards.
I have no problems with them.
If there any problems with drivers installation you can use NDISWRAPER
But don't use D-LINK 'cause original schematic of impulse power suply is "unstable" and it can burn out
your card or AP. This caused by using btm-like components which are unstable on higher frequencies. (higher than 2 ghz and we have 2.4 ghz) And TP-link cards is "Chinese modified" D_LINK and it is more stable.
I think that the best way to power up your linux with wireless device is to use Atheros or Prism chipsets.
If you want "much powerfull" connection you should use Orinoco Gold card. This thing will blow up all the chanells.
There are nice Planet cards and AP's supported by wireless-ng. Why Planet?
Planet ARM's (CPU's) on AP's are about 166-233 mhz, but there are a lot of stuff on them.
And they've got much power - about 850 mW
As for me, if you don't whant to play with drivers you should use AP's.
Greatest AP that I've ever seen is Senao Deluxe. This series of AP's is about 1W of power!!! But there are some problems with their inner stuff.

  • I'm using a card template and trying to find what Avery product I should get to print the card on

I using a Pages greeting card template and trying to find out what Avery product I should buy to print it on. Where is this infromation?

The Avery web site has the layouts of its products and also ms Word tempaltes that open in Pages.
If you wish to use the Pages' templates select the overall rectangle of the card:
    Inspector > Metrics
To find out the size and then look for the matching Avery stock, you will probably have to adjust bot the size and position for a close match.
However since greeting cards are just rectangles folded in half all you need to do is print them on card stock with some crop marks offset from the corners and cut them out with a sharp knife or a guillotine. Not rocket science.

  • IBM WebSphere Portal Server, what similar products are out there?

    Hello,
Our company is looking into the IBM WebSphere Portal Server package. If anyone knows anything about it, and can let me know what other products are out there that is similar, I would greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks!

Virtually every Java application server vendor is now buying into the corporate portal craze that has infected the minds of businesspeople around the world. The application server vendor crowd is fairly new to the whole portal thing, as it has been typically in the hands of individual companies who have relied on portal software as their flagship products in the past.
Plumtree and Coreport are two examples of corporate portal vendors who basically have nothing else to offer, but probably do portals better than most of the application server guys. IBM, ATG, Oracle and BEA are examples of other Java application server vendors that have fairly recently added portal frameworks and APIs as extensions to their products.
If you're looking to compare all of these, there is a wealth of information out there... you're not going to get it here. Do a bit of searching.

  • What router can I buy to be compatible with my ATT Uverse service?

What router can I buy to be compatible with my ATT Uverse service?I would like a fairly fast moderately priced one. My current router does not work and I prefer to own the router than rent from them.

You may purchase any router you desire, preferably a dual band, and place behind the Uverse RG in either DMZ mode for pace/2 wire products or IP Pass through for Arris/Motorola products. However you must have a Uverse RG for actual connection due to certificate authorized service.Resulting in the need for the company owned/maintained equipment fee, currently $7 per month, for new installations and repairs of existing accounts requiring the RG replacement.

  • What wireless router works with this OS?

i have bought 2 different routers that are not compatible with this OS...anyone know what wireless router i can buy that will work with OS X Mountain Lion?

"Cisco Connect" seems to be support software which Cicso may not have updated for Mountain Lion. (It's hard to tell from the Cisco forums.)
Supposedly, many of the functions on Cisco routers can be controlled through the web interface.
Support software aside, jdcastaldo is right that the actual routing and wifi functions should be independent of the operating system of the clients.

  • Interoperability of cisco wireless products?

I've been doing a lot of research on various Cisco wireless products and the options are kind of confusing.
I'll start with my deployment; I have two locations both of which have a manufacturing and warehouse environments (no climate control) and regular offices.
Location 1 needs 3 APs on the production floor and 1 in the offices.
Location 2 needs 5 APs on the warehouse floor and 4 for the offices.
I was thinking about using the Cisco 521 APs for both the production floor and offices and the Cisco 526 Wireless Controller for Location 1.  I figure that will give them room for expansion and keep the costs low.
For location 2 I was thinking about the Aironet 1240AG APs for the warehouse floor, Aironet 1140AG APs for the offices and then a Cisco 2112 Wireless Controller to manage all the APs.
Both locations require WPA (or WPA2) encryption and roaming.
    My questions are:
Will the 521 APs work with the 2112 controller?  For that matter, what sort of interoperability is there with the APs and controllers?  Can I manage any Cisco AP with any Cisco Controller?
Are there any cheaper APs than the 1140AG that will work with the 2112 controller?
Is the 1240AG a good choice for a non-climate controlled warehouse environment?  The APs are going to be mounted on the ceiling which is roughly 50 feet high and I'm going to be very upset if I deploy these APs and then have one fail during the summer 6 months later because it wasn't made for volatile environments.
The 521 APs are only going to be about 15 feet up so they can be accessed with a ladder so I'm not so worried about them.
    Thanks!

Will the 521 APs work with the 2112 controller?
    No.
Are there any cheaper APs than the 1140AG that will work with the 2112 controller?
You could try the 1130.  1140 supports 802.11n while 1130 is a/b/g only.
Is the 1240AG a good choice for a non-climate controlled warehouse environment?
The 1240, like the 1130, supports a/b/g only while the 1250 supports a/b/g/n.  The newer 1260 is controller-based only.  The 1240, 1250 and 1260 use external antennae that's an OPTION.

  • Advice neede on which Wireless AP to buy

Thanks in advance for any replies.
I have a customer who currently has a cheap wireless router that he uses for his work network, it is unsecured as he allows his customers to freely use his internet. The building is a shop and is on 3 levels so the wireless reception isn't great on higher floors. All his PC's and tills connect to the same router.
My question is: id like to secure his network and just make it for work use, install a new cisco wireless access point into his  (which will plug into his existing router) that will be unsecured and for customer use. The issue is I dont want the customers to beable to locate devices on his private network. Can anyone advise on what I need to buy and how to configure for the above scenario.
    Kind Regards
    Alan

    I'm with Steve.
You need a router than can do ACL and can do the routing.  You put internal networks in a separate IP Subnet and guests in a different IP Subnet.
Some of the low-end Cisco routers, for example the 860, 880 and 890, support Zone-Based Firewall (ZBW) so this is another layer of security.
You add ACL which can strengthen the security of the network.  With ACL you could, for example, limit the IP Subnet that has remote access to the router and access points.

  • What happens when you buy from a third party vender

I am wondering what happens when you buy a macbook form a third party vender. In my case it is amazon.com. I am reading about people returning their macbook's to apple for a refund due to the high pitched whine everyone is talking about. My understanding is that we can still send them to apple to get fixed for the noise, but even if they can't fix it we still can't get a refund right? If I try to return it to Amazon as a defective product who decides if it is? Apple or Amazon?
    Kalel

Amazon's return policy on computers doesn't exclude any brands, so I'd say that you could return it. Here's a link to it if you'd like to read it:

  • Mac OS X v 10.7 Lion does not support Norton Antivirus? what to do? Buy another one?

    Need advice!
Mac OS X v 10.7 Lion does not support Norton Antivirus? what to do? Buy another one?

Sophos seems like the best alternative to me.
No, the best alternative is not to install any commercial "anti-virus" products. They're all worse than useless, including Sophos.
Mac OS X versions 10.6.7 and later have built-in detection of known Mac malware in downloaded files. The recognition database is automatically updated once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders. In most cases, there’s no benefit from any other automated protection against malware.
The most effective defense against malware is your own intelligence. All known Mac malware takes the form of trojans that can only operate if the victim is duped into running them. If you're smarter than the malware attacker thinks you are, you won't be duped. That means, primarily, that you never install software from an untrustworthy source. Any website that prompts you to install software, such as a “codec” or “plug-in,” that comes from that same site, or an unknown site, is untrustworthy. A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. No intermediary is acceptable.
Never install any commercial "anti-virus" products for the Mac, as they're all counter-productive. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use ClamXav -- nothing else.

  • What PSU should i buy?

Hey, i have an important question. I have seen a bunch of posts here on the forum about lack of juice out of PSU's with certain hardware configs....
I think i have the same problems here, flickering textures in games, when playing games they just quit and im back in windows.... and even sometimes it just hangs.... this is only when playing games or 3D rendering in 3D studio max.
    Here are my system specs.
    ESC K7S6A mainboard (bios version 1.0f )
    AMD Athlon XP 2400+
    512 MB DDR
    WD 40GB/8mb cache (7200rpm)
    WD 80GB/2mb cache (7200rpm)
    LiteOn CDRW 48x
    LiteOn CD/DVD 48x/24x
    SB Audigy player 5.1
MSI G4Ti4600-VTD (also tested with MSI G4MX440)
    3com Network card 10/100
    Microsoft optical mouse
    PSU 300w
Windows XP Professional Corp. (NL + SP1)
    DirectX 9.0
    nVidia 41.09 drivers for WinXP
I think that my PSU is not good (correct me if im wrong), what PSU should i buy with my specs? please give me a brand and typenumber...

Is there any way to check if the power supply is definetly causing problems - I just bought am G4MX440 and after installing it (was using 32meg TNT2), game graphics are all screwey
    TO-AOT (blank screen)
Q3 (all i get in the menus is the firey surround 'quake 3')
GTA3 ('bout a hundred tiled menu windows)
After reading many of the posts I assumed it was my power supply, went back to where i bought it (both the pc and the card) to upgrade nah it's the card bring it back.
    P4 1.5 on GA-8IDX
    SONY DVD
    PANASONIC 8*4*32 CD-R/W
    512 MB SD
    MSI G4MX440-T
    some TV tuner card (dunno)
    directX 8.1 also tried 9
    300W psu
    3.3 - 14A    | 160W combined
    5    - 30A    |
    12  - 15A
These guys are selling all their P4 packages with various G4 and other card with 300W power supplies without issue (or so they say)
so any way to check for sure, will the rails dip significantly?  I be grateful for any suggestions caus if i take it back you know it will sit on a shelf for a a few days b4 they get around to it - and i'm itching to try it out....
