What would be really nice...

okay so we all have our stuff we wish apple would integrate with the iphone and as for this whole month i have owned my iphone i realized something...i travel alot for work and i constantly need updates with time and stuff and one nice thing about the iphone is the worldclock and a weather widget
my only wish though is that it would have been nice if apple just mixed those two at the same time so that if I am flying out from one place to another...instead of going back and forth with the clock and weather...it would be nice to have that one app with the time on that specific place and the weather information as well...
I hope something like that soon

Why would you suggest that to us other users in a technical support forum?  That's a waste of your time as well as ours.

  • What would be really nice for the Note app if they would put a star, flag or some other icon on the homescreen note app to remind you that you made a note.

It would be nice if the Apple Notes app would put a red star, flag or other icon on the Note Pad on the homescreen to remind you that you made a note. Whats the point of making a note if you cant see you left yourself a note. On the iPad as well as the ipod.

  • Autofill would be really nice

I just added a Nano to my stable of 2 20GB ipods, 1 mini, and 1 shuffle (we've got three total users in our house). We have huge libraries of music all stored in a central music database. It is organized by folders for each of the different users and we rarely get cross-pollution except deliberately. The shuffle was great because of its autofill capabibility and its ability to autofill from any folder or playlist without thinking about capacity.
The nano software's greatest shortcoming so far is the lack of autofill. Yes, I can use smart playlists, but these are drawn from the total song library, not by subsetting existing playlists. This creates monumental problems when trying to generate a smart playlist as it does precisely what I don't want it to do -- shuffle across different user's music preferences. Even if this is resolved, no matter how much space your Nano reports as free, you still have to tinker with the sizing of a smart playlist to get it "just right". Right now, it is really annoying to have to wait for the Nano to determine whether a particular playlist is the right size or not. It may take 3 resizings to "get it right".
Why not allow the AUTOFILL function to work with the Nano. Conceptually there are no differences between the Nano and the Shuffle. My guess is that the majority of early adopters are buying these as additions to their ipod collections, not as the only iPod. It wouldn't make any different to a user who has only a Nano, but the convenience of AutoFill can't be overstated. It was a great feature for the Shuffle -- let's make it available for the Nano.

Yes, I can use smart playlists, but these are drawn from the total song library, not by subsetting existing playlists.
If you look at the rules settings for a smart playlist, you can add a rule that says "Playlist is <whatever>" or "Playlist is not <whatever>." I think that does exactly what you're trying to do.
Honestly, I'd thought there was an "autofill" feature for all ipods already, but it appears it's not there now, if it ever was. However, the Smart Playlist feature will let you define a particular subset of a different playlist using the "Playlist is" rule.

  • It would be really nice if it worked.

Very impressed with ADDT--despite the fact that I feel I am adding like 50 MB of files to my include file. <br /><br />However, my major problem is with the file upload feature. <br /><br />It doesn't work for the asp/vb script model. <br /><br />I have tried it on several sites, all with the correct file permissions (YES they all have write/exec/del on the specified folder), and I just continue to get an error everytime I try to upload which states:<br /><br />Folder error. Security Error. Folder 'D:\Inetpub\<mysitename>\' is out of base folder 'D:\Inetpub\<mysitename>\ULImages\'. (FOLDER_DEL_SECURITY_ERROR)<br /><br />The path changes depending on the site, but it is still the same thing.  I have tried EVERYTHING.  I have changed the folder to absolute, relative, etc.  Reloaded the files--but I got nothing. <br /><br />I used ASP Pure Upload and that works like a dream, and I was excited about the toolkit since it offered uploading for ASP as well.  But someone did not beta test this thing. <br /><br />Also, where is one supposed to go for tech support??? Here? Where is the support forum for ADDT?<br /><br />Anyway, that's my rant.

Hello drama sell,<br /><br />This seems to be happening because you are trying to upload a file outside of the base directory that you have specified. <br /><br />It seems that the directory you specified as the "Upload folder" is "D:\Inetpub\<mysitename>\ULImages\", but (maybe because of the rename rule) the upload is trying to save the file in "D:\Inetpub\<mysitename>\" which is outside of the "Upload folder".<br /><br />For security reasons, this cannot be done. All the files need to be uploaded in folders that are below the "Upload folder".<br /><br />Regards,<br />Razvan RACASANU

  • An archive feature would be really nice

I know that threads are deleted after a few months, but there are so many informative threads here. I say archive threads, so that we can go back to them for future reference.
There has to be a reason of why this isn't done. :\

  • What Would Happen IF.....?

While still using BIOS 2.0 - I place my additional stick of 256MB of RAM into Slot 2 - instead of the correct placement in Slot 3 (which appears to be DEAD on my board).   Will my system still RUN, will it run with 512RAM but not in Double  bank?  Will it FRY?  Please advise...
    TKS  Michael ?(

I believe I bought and we installed this Mobo about in last January - It would be TOO much of a HASSSLE for me to try to get an RMA approved, remove and return this board, and do without a computer for several weeks probably.
AND for me this setup, even if Slot 3 is "titty's UP!", is plenty FAST etc. - I mean it would be really nice IF I could take advantage of the Twin Bank Feature (one reason I bought this board) BUT - truthfully, will I REALLY know/see/teel the difference.  If I can just get it to RUN smoothly on my Games and Internet - I'm a Happy Camper - don't need the FASTEST 'puter in the block.
PS - NOT giving up yet though, I am waiting a TAd to let you guys test out BIOS 2.6 - when/if it passes your tests. I am going to one way or other, FLASH up to 2.6 from 2.0 and then try this new RAM in Slot two - BUT might just put it in there now to get my 512 cooking anyway.

It is really up to you. Since y say yo have iOS 6 yo must have a 4G iPod which is not bad.

  • Yesterday I downloaded Lion. It looked really nice. I then noticed several of my programs that worked flawlessly in Snow Leopard STOPPED working. One of them was my SilverFast scanning software.A new version would cost $450.00. I am going back to Snow Le

I downloaded Lion yesterday. What a nightmare.
Before even using it, I noticed several of my programs would not work with Lion.
My Appleworks 6 program was dead as well as some other programs that I had been using for yrs. I have a dual core iMac.
If I wanted to open any of my Applework documents I had to open them one at a time and resave them with pages. This could take weeks.I have 1000s of apple work documents.
This was only the tip of the iceberg.
I needed to do some scanning for a client. Well, low and behold my Silverfast scanning software for my Microtek 9800XL would not work.
I went to the SilverFast web page looking for a download to fix this. No such luck. If I wanted to use my scanner with Lion, I would have to purchase a newer version for $450.00.
Then I went to the Microtek web page, nothing there. I called Microtek and they said they were working on the problem but couldn't tell me it would be available.
I called Apple customer support. The person I spoke with, Scott, was able to help me. The solution. I will get a refund doe Lion and for $16.00 they are going to send me Snow Leopard on a disk. Problem here is I have to reformat my drive. I have a full back up with Time MAchine, but he wasn't sure if I would lose some of my programs when this was done.
Am I dealing with Microsoft? This was a BIG surprise to me that Apple would release an OS without testing all programs.
Given my love of Apple products, I own a lot of Apple stock bought it when it was $45.00,This new OS is a real disaster.
If you are going to use Lion, I would be careful and call Apple first before downloading.
I also asked Scot what would happen if my computer crashed and I had no disk to reinstall. He said some Apple stores are selling Lion on a flash drive.
I believe this is one way for Apple to make ore profits at the cost of the consumer. Apple has more cash on hand then the US government.
I never expected Apple to do something like this. This is something Microsoft would do as they alwasy seem to rush their new OS without fully testing it.

If I wanted to open any of my Applework documents I had to open them one at a time and resave them with pages. This could take weeks.I have 1000s of apple work documents.
You don't have to open and re-save every AppleWorks document you have right now. Just wait till you need one, then do it. The documents aren't going anywhere.
Am I dealing with Microsoft? This was a BIG surprise to me that Apple would release an OS without testing all programs.
Frankly, it is not Apple's responsibility to ensure compatibiltiy with every piece of software available for OS X. That is the responsibility of the software vendor. Lion has been available to developers for several months before it's release, so Microtek had plenty of time to update their software. Yet they did not. How is that Apple's fault? I think Apple was very generous to give you a refund for Lion.
I'm not trying to belittle your frustration but I do think your ire is misplaced.

  • HT2905 This still does not discuss why these dupicates keep being made.  It would be really, really nice if Apple were to look at their code and fix the problem in the first place. I have to go through my library every other week to remove the duplicates.

This also applies to iTunes for Windows.  I have been using iTunes since 2007.  In every version that I have used, random tracks get duplicated for no reason.  I will usually go a month or two at time before I touch my library.  It doesn't take much to understand that have an entire library of over 10 gigabytes being duplicated several times will eat up the small hard drive on a Macbook Pro.  Why has Apple only come up with the solution to have their customers delete the duplicates rather than change the iTunes coding to preven the duplications in the first place?

After my PC crashed and I moved my iTunes library to a new laptop (with a lot of technical help)  it appeared that almost all my songs had been duplicated.  However, the music could only be found under one fo the titles that showed.  The one without the music has an ! inside a circle in front of it.  If I try to play any of these on my laptop I get an error message saying the song can't be found.  When I synched to my iPod I found that many of my songs were not on the iPod.  It turned out that durring synching my iPod picked only one version of each song and if it picked up the one with the ! it didn't pick up the title or the actual song - so it appeared I had lost the song.  If I go back into my iTunes library and delete the songs with the ! and then resynch, it will pick up all the tunes.  The problem is I have several thousand songs in my library - it would sure be nice if there was an automatic way to delete all the songs with the !.

  • Suggestion BOX for Premiere Pro!!! Add your suggestions. what would you like to see in CS 6.5 or CS7

    1. I would appreciate if you could import and link files like in avid media composer.
Sometimes we work on bigger projects and from different computers, but if I open the project on another computer I have to relink the files, what sometimes is really annoying, and sometimes I take my work  home, but can't, since the files are placed on different servers/locations I just can access at work. So, the "real" import would be very helpful.
    2. You also should be able to have the opportunity to structure your project like in avid media composer.
If you create a new project, there should be just one place/location where your files are stored like the Avid MediaFiles folder.
    3. On the list view - it should be possible to sort assets, and in the project window the icons are still to large (even though you are already chose the smallest)
    4. Speed/Duration - It should be possible not only to adjust the % it would be nice, also to adjust the frame rate.
e.g. you have a project/clip with 25/24fps. and you want play it in 24/25fps without skipping/interpolating frames.  Also when you render it, it should be possible to choose this option (with the information that the clip will be played slower or faster, depends what you want)  It's just like you would speed or slow down the indicator in the timeline.
    5. Is it already possible to choose a window via keyboard???
If the source monitor is activated and I want to activate the timeline, can I do this without using the mouse, like (alt+F4)?   Jumping between the source-project monitor, project window, timeline ....  This would increase my work SPEED also if you in the source monitor and want to jump into the effects panel should be possible  without mouse (tab).
    6.  If you already work on a project and you recognize that you have the wrong audio track settings that would it be possible to change it from mono to stereo and stereo to mono.
    7.  Multicam
If you have set up a Multicam session with many (and/or) big files, than would it be nice if you could do a right click on it and choose something like - convert to workable quality (proxies) - (also the size of the video e.g. from 720p to 360p should shrink)(option box where you can adjust the quality/size and also what premere pro suggest) because in many cases you have to convert it manually and this are some extra steps you have to do, what I think isn't necessary. After you are done with the editing you should right click again and able to choose - replace with original files - or something like that.
Editing in MULTICAM MODUS is sometimes still a pain. We want edit sometimes in Multicam - Monitor, but every time I stop recording and press play and just want to change the camera, I get an new edit I don't want (and rec turns automatically on) Then when th rec is on and I go frame by frame and click in the multicam monitor on the camera I want, it doesn't add an edit. This all is so weird and makes multicam uncomfortable to work.
I'm really interested what your ideas are and maybe adobe picks some of it (hopefully) to improve premiere pro.

Thx for this input and information!
    I'll try it.
1&2. Most of the time, the files get moved from one server to another where I have no influence on it. That's why import is so important to me, and still have to work on avid media composer.
    4. I knew that it'll work like this this , but I still hope it's going to be easier in future, so I can avoid an extra sequenz
    5. Thx a lot, because I couldn't find out, and this will speed up my work speed
    6. Never mind, I just had once the problem I made a stereo track (because it was recorded in stereo). Then came the time to mix and master it and figured out (this should be mono) I tried to change it to mono but I couldn't.
    7. I'm using multicam most of the time on a mobile computer and I have footage of 4 cameras in 1080p or 720p50/60. Then I can't edit it in multicam because it's too much for my computer and I have to resize it what takes ages. I know you could say I should purchase a better computer, but I have no problems to edit 2 video tracks in 1080p
Thank you again, and sry that I posted my wishes in this forum. was looking for suggestion box but couldn'd find it. Now I know it's called wishform.
    Again THX alot.!!!

  • Homesite Future - What would you want changed?

There have been threads debating whether HomeSite was
orphaned or whether it would be upgraded or not. Since none of us
know, those are mainly ways we've all been expressing our
    frustration.
Someone pointed out to me recently how useful HomeSite is
even now "as it is" (which I knew of course), but he also
enumerated some good arguments why there might not be much demand
for HomeSite to be upgraded. If fact he has trouble sometimes
convincing people to upgrade from HS 4.5, even when they already
have HS 5.5+ on a DW CD. While I disagree on some of his arguments,
he has a good point that
putting development resources into doing an upgrade only makes
sense for Adobe if there are compelling enough reasons for users to
pay to buy the new version.
Anyway, I have no idea if this is how Adobe is thinking, or
really what they are thinking at all, but I thought I'd start a
thread to see what you all think on this question.
What updates, features or fixes to HomeSite would you be most
    interested in?
(to the point of being willing to pay for an upgrade,
    assuming cost is reasonable)
Or some more detailed rephrasings that might jog your mind:
    - What things would you be willing to pay (a reasonable amt) to
    upgrade to get?
    - Or what things would make you look elsewhere because they
    aren't in HomeSite?
    - What bugs or things about HS drive you nuts?
    - What do you need/want to do in HomeSite that can't be done
    using it's extensions?
So, anyone willing to put some thought into it? Please be
honest, not just posting little gripes, or things that would be
nice, but that you wouldn't be willing to shell out some $ for.
(you can post those things too, but please note which are which.)
And let's keep the scope here on this, not on the broader
arguments about whether Adobe will or should do patches or upgrades
or whether their dogs have fleas. We can use other threads for
    that. ok? ;-)
    thanks!!
    jeff
p.s. No, this isn't Adobe's way of doing a user survey on the
cheap, it's just me posting to see what you all care about.
If it gives them motivation to do something - great, but this
is for us to talk together about what you think really *needs*
    improvement in HS.

The most important change for me would be the capability to
    use Unicode.
Neither editor I use (HS and Topstyle) support Unicode. The
    first to do
this will draw many users from the other. This lack of
    Unicode is a
    major stumbling block to me.

  • What Would you like to see changed in FC?

    Hello everybody,
just  a little introduction, as announced flash catalyst would solve the  problem of many designers to publish their work without one line of  code, well, here begins a death foretold. At  some point things to go well but then the problems begin a dependence  to have a programmer on the left arm in addition to the program is  rather limited. Flash is already incorporating the AS3 language, now wonder why launch a program with a new language, rather confusing, no? as  a designer I do not want to worry about programming, but concentrate on  the aesthetic aspect of my layout, which is why I found interesting the  coming of the catalyst. it was all a lie, or say one more death will be announced shortly birth. but we believe that all this will change and enable designers to express their skills as designers and media .... without a single line of code. otherwise the flash is fine and the catalyst becomes an obsolete program. finally,  each monkey on its branch and rethink that, besides confusing the  catalyst does not become functional in the optical designer.
What would you like to see changed in Catalyst?
    - Most states
    - can apply Form Email etc
    - better handling of text
    - No dependence with programmers, or if it is not possible to incorporate code changes in the proper catalyst
more there, and hopefully remember me
I  want to thank The Adobe team that created the opportunity to open new  horizons to the class of designers, I still think that the catalyst has  great potential ,.... but not the way it is.
    Thank you for your attention
and say what they liked to see
    cheers
    Mike

Well the forms for sure. At least an email form. This really just needs to be there. Ultimatley I think there just needs to be some training right now if they want this product to get used the way they intended. I am sure I will have a ton more to add to this list as I dig deeper into my first live job using it.
Not sure on the AS3 thing, it has been out since 2006, although I may have just misread what you were saying.
A way to change the loading bar would definitly be nice now that I am thinking about it.

  • If you traded in your mac mini for a windows pc, what would you get?

I have a late 2009 Mac Mini and am just chafing to upgrade. It's slow as molasses.  But at the same time, I'm not willing to pay full price for 2012 model, and Apple is way behind in releasing an update. In fact I'm hearing speculation that Apple may be just discontinuing the Mac Mini.
I don't know... But I'm getting tired of waiting. And getting a different model of Mac doens't work for me, because I want to use my own screens. (I'm running two large screens in "portrait" mode.)
Also, I have a Windows 7 PC at work, and I've come to realize that I don't mind Windows 7 and don't see it as intrinsically better than the Apple OS. In fact Windows & has generally been mariginally more stable, and a lot faster then the OS on my Mac. In fact I got both systems around the same time and the Windows 7 system did better with less RAM and is "aging" better.
HOWEVER, what I really love about the Mac Mini is how QUIET it is. I have it in my bedroom, next to my bed, and it's noise is barely noticeable. So I guess I should look into seeing if there area any desktop PC's that are as quiet.
Have you considered switching back to a PC, and if you did what would you get?

I moved away from Apple in 2007 and have never looked back !
    I use the ASRock Vision X 420D  http://www.asrock.com/nettop/Intel/VisionX%20Series%20(Haswell)/
Its the same size as the current Mini but a bit taller - BUT it is FULLY user upgradeable and about the same price once you make a mini upto the same spec.
I run Windows 8.1 on it and love it - yes there are lots of people bleating on about the 'metro' style of Win 8 but if you configure it (which has been a feature from launch, not a 3rd party hack) you never have to see the metro interface and you have a standard desktop.
As to woodmeister50 comment of : Also, with Win8, many third party add on companies have dropped support etc. is that not the same for Mavericks ?!

  • Any idea what would suddenly cause seemingly random "Not enough memory to complete this operation." errors.

Nothing has changed, the system is not on any network, and has run without issue about a year now.  About a week ago, these errors just started popping up.  About once an hour.  It doesn't seem to cause any problems, except you have to click the OK button to continue.
I am a complete stranger to NI and labview systems, but I am am familiar with control system in general and this seems strange to me.  As far as I know, they are not doing any sort of logging or historical recording, so its not like they are running out of room.
There is plenty of HDD space available.  The system has 1 GB of physical ram, with virtual mem settings of 1.5min - 3 max.
I just don't understand what would cause this problem suddenly after almost a year with no issues??
Any suggestions as to what I can try.  I've read through about a thousand forums here, but none seem to match this issue with the "all of a sudden" type of error.
One said to try to delete labview.ini, which is the only thing that I would try at this point...
    Help??

    Hi All,
Thanks for the replys.  I'll do my best to answer the questions.  The system is running Labview 8.5 (I think), or at least a current version.  The Labview program is controlling a NI 7350 Motion Controller for (2) Gemini 6 axis maching stations.
All I really know at this point, is that it has been running for about a year with no issues, then suddently last week, this error started to pop up.  At this point, nothing seems to be affected as far as functionality, you just have to click ok to close the error screen.
I haven't tried anything yet.  I'll probably go there tomorrow or Monday to try to correct the problem, but I thought I would try to get a clue before I did.
I don't have any of the code at this point, I'm hoping to have this later today.
How can I find out which operation is actually running out of memory??  This would certainly help to figure out what is happening.
I guess the only thing that has me baffled with regard to handling errors or a large array, or division error is why all of a sudden, if nothing has changed?
I read one post that said a power failure caused major problems and Vis had to be reloaded.  I thought this had potential, but the fact that the system seems to run without any problems other than the nuisance error, makes me think this is not the case.
Anyway, I realize this doesn't shed any new light on the subject, but I'll post more information as soon as I have it.
Thanks to everyone and have a great day.

  • Hi there, I'm thinking of buying both a new MacBook Pro and a small 22 inch LED tv for my kitchen... what would I need to be able to use (wireless of course) the tv as a monitor for the new computer? Apple tv? Airport Express? something else? Thanks.

    Hi a,

There has been "talk" on and off of Apple TV doing it (and people have done it with a hack), but I haven't really followed it.
It would be a whole lot cheaper getting an adapter (as needed) and cable and simply pluggin it in when you're in the kitchen.
