What would be the cost of upgrading before my early upgrade?

I am on Tmobile at the moment and having problems with my phone so want to upgrade earlier than my early upgrade, what would be the cost of this?

Approx. Monthly Fee x Months Remaining of contract term - VAT (16.7%). VAT is not due on termination fees.

Hi, I have bought macbook pro a year back and it has 4 GB RAM and its mid 2012 model can u tell me whether if i give the macbook for upgradation of memory will they do it and what would be the cost.

You need to take your MacBook Pro to your Apple store genius bar and check that they will do the upgrade for you...price for 4 GB memory used to be $200 but you will have to check with them for the current cost.
You can also check with OWC, http://www.macsales.com and see what their cost is and decide if you want to do it yourself.  Cost will be about half of that at the Apple store.

  • What would be the cost of adding or upgrading brand new MBP from 2gb to 4?

I purchased a new 15" but only have 2gb - is the cost only $150 to upgrade to 4gb or does it need to be configured from the outset?

    You probably have 2 x 1GB sticks installed ?
You can get two decent 2GB sticks from as little as US$50 each, e.g.

Can i upgrade to Adobe Dreamweaver from the Macromedia Dreamweaver platform?

DW MX 2004 is legacy software that's no longer supported by Adobe.  It's just too old so it doesn't qualify for upgrades.
If you want to purchase DW CS6 (perpetual license), it currently sells for $399 USD.

  • My mac os x is currently 10.5.8. What is the cost to upgrade to the most current?

My macbook pro os x is currently running 10.5.8. What is the cost to upgrade to the most current?

Assuming you have the upgrade system requirements you would first purchase a Snow Leopard DVD and upgrade to Snow Leopard. Then you update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 to gain access to the App Store where you would then purchase and download Lion. Costs are $29.00 for Snow Leopard and $30.00 for Lion.
    Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    Restart the computer.
Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
Wait for installer to finish loading.
    E. If updating:
    Download and install update(s)
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).
Once you then purchase and download Lion from the App Store consider this before you actually install Lion:
    Make Your Own Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing Lion.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disc image file into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable Lion installer that  you can use without having to re-download Lion.

  • Looking to upgrade my OS from 10.5.8 to something newer, what would be the best option?

I would like to upgrade my operating system, but not sure what would be the best option. I have had the computer for several years and haven't had a problem, I just think it's time to upgrade. Any suggestions?

Which model iMac do you have?
The best option would be the one (OS) that meets your needs of what you want to do AND if you meet ALL the OS system requirements.  Suggest that you read the system requirements of the OS you are interested in to make sure you meet all the requirements both hardware & software.

I have a 15' Macbook Pro, mid 2010 running Mavericks. I want to upgrade the hardware by increasing the RAM to 8GB and replacing the HD for a SDD one. What would be the best way to install mavericks on the new HD? I have the original OS X CD.
From what I read, I have 2 choices: 1. to install OSX and then upgrade to Mavericks, but I'm not sure if this would be possible (to upgrade directly from OSX to Mavericks); and 2. to use a software called Super Duper.
I wouldn't like to have to use a third party software to do this, so the question is: is there a better way to install directly the Mavericks not having to use a third party software?

Install the new drive in the computer.
Install the old drive in an external USB or Firewire enclosure.
Boot the computer from the Recovery HD on the external drive.
Use Disk Utility to partition and format the new internal drive.
Clone your external drive to the internal drive.
How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the Recovery HD on the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the Recovery HD then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
      1. Open Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the DU main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to

          return to the Erase window.
      6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
      1. Using Disk Utility still opened.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I am a dinosaur still using Photoshop 6. Am forced to upgrade - what would be the current replacement.

But you are not forced to upgrade unless you choose to upgrade your computer or operating system. At that point it would probably stop working, otherwise it should go on forever. And a jolly good piece of software it was (and is).

I need to update my Mac OS. Currently it's using os 10.5.8 version what would be the next version I need to install? Thank you for all your help.

You need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, install it, and run the 10.6.8 combo updater. Mac OS X 10.6 requires a Mac with an Intel CPU and at least 1GB of RAM.
