What would happen if I restarted an iPhone?

Would it go to the set-up screens, like when you first get it? I recently was handed down an iPhone 4S from a relitive and it's still logged in to all their accounts (I.e, their email, iCloud, etc.) and it wont let me log out of them, so if I restart the phone completely, would I be able to log into my accounts or would they all still be in my grandfathers?

Do this...
If desired, move photos/videos off the Camera Roll: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
If desired, backup the device to iTunes or iCloud: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Then, on the device...
Settings > Messages > iMessage > Off
Settings > FaceTime > Off
Settings > iCloud > Delete Accout (this only unregisters and deletes it off the device)
Settings > iTunes & App stores.  Tap the AppleID and sign out.
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Unregister your device at https://supportprofile.apple.com

my friend gave me his iphone 4s and the phone is asking me to activate it under my friends apple id and password. my friend and i were wondering what would happen when we activate the iphone 4s? we don't know if it ist going to unlock it so we can use it or if it is going to activate his phone again into the iphone 4s

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

  • What would happen if I got my iPhone unlocked?

I want to unlock my iphone so I can put a differnt sim card in but I'm afraid that its gonna get messed up. What are some of the best ways to unlock it and what are some of the risks?

No one here is going to answer your question regarding some of the best ways to unlock an iPhone - at a user to user forum for technical support issues and questions that is provided and moderated by APPLE!
If someone does, that post will likely be removed by a moderator and this thread locked or removed by same.
This is against the iPhone's software license agreement, will void your warranty and likely prevent being able to install any future iPhone updates provided by Apple.

  • What would happen if I restore an iPhone with a previous backup on your PC?

I Need help guys ! I don't want I really did something good or bad like did I just delete everything on the phone before the backup !?
    PLease help

yes u will lose all the files on it, if you choose to sync it to another PC.
first. sync it to the computer you originally synced it to, hence back it up
now go to new PC, and sync, loose all data.
now copy data from old PC to new pc
add it to itunes and such now tell it what media to sync
    another option, use icloud.
tell icloud to sync all your photos, data and such and simply use icloud to sync up that stuff. as long as it does not go over 5gb.

  • What would happen if I...

I left town un expectedly and didn't bring my iphone charger. My brother has an I phone but does not have the wall charger with him. What would happen if I put my iphone in his docking station while connected to his computer to charge. Would my iphone attempt to sync with his? Is there a way I could stop it from syncing. I don't want his junk and bad taste in music to be on my iphone.

Prior to putting the phone in the cradle, go into the iTunes preferences. Under the iPhone tab there's a check box that says "Disable Automatic Syncing for all iPhones." Check that box and you'll be fine. The only way it will sync is if you tell it to.
However, be aware that if the Computer goes into sleep mode while the iPhone is in the charger, not only will the phone not charge, but it will actually drain power.

  • What would happen if I added the itouch email to the add accounts on my iphone and confirmed that email address? Would only my iphone get both (itouch and iphone) messages? or will my itouch then also get my iphone messages as well??

Thank-you for clarifying third party and for pointing out the potential problems.
i will either have my phone unlocked by the carrier or get my phone service from them. switching carriers is not essential.
    Thanks agin.

  • What would happen if application server needs to be restarted?

I am talking about a scenario where application server hangs and needs to be restarted, because you couldnt do anything on it. What would happen to any insert, update of data taking place at that time. I guess it will all be rolled back if they are not committed and written on the data files. What would you do in this case before restarting , what would you check after restart of the system? Please share your experiences.

    Hi,
    >What would you do in this case before restarting , what would you check after restart of the system? Please share your experiences
SAP has its recovery manager([click|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a8910c3a-0d01-0010-a6a9-f4a8aae140fe] BR Tools) and every time you restart the server the system will be rolled back to the last safe point if there were any undone or not commited queries.

  • If I have an older iPhone and it is connected to my cloud account with my other devices, what would happen if I delete my cloud account from that phone, will I delete it across all my devices?

if I have an older iPhone and it is connected to my cloud account with my other devices, what would happen if I delete my cloud account from that phone, will I delete it across all my devices?

Also, I have one more thing to ask. Can I then set up a new cloud account for the old iPhone just for my son to use?

  • If i used an iphone firmware to restore my ipod touch what would happen?

If i used an iphone firmware to restore my ipod touch what would happen?

Well I know I said I only have a second generation iPod Touch, so maybe I'm out of Touch (no pun intended) but I fail to understand how you have installed a SIM card into an iPod Touch.
If your iPod Touch can have a SIM card installed into it, I would think that makes it a phone.
    iPhone perhaps?
    Sigh!

  • What would happen if I used Recovery Disk?

I've recently bought a new iMac (Core i5) that came with Lion pre-installed, but I needed Snow Leopard for all my older software e.g. Photoshop CS, so I got the sellers to install SL for me. Everything is fine.
Out of curiosity I tried to see if I could run Tiger from my old G5 HDD which is connected via USB, but it didn't come up in the list when I did Restart + Option. However, what DID come up was an extra drive named "Recovery". I understand this is a separate Lion partition on my HDD - so, what would happen if I selected that via Restart + Option? Would it open Lion on my iMac so I could have a play around with it? And if it did, would I then be able to get back to SL and all my data, users, and settings, after I'd finished?
I don't want to try it out without advice, in case Lion overwrites SL irretrievably.

    christopher rugby wrote:
My question is this : can I safely restart from Recovery in order to just play around with Lion, or will starting from Recovery reinstall Lion over the top of SL on my main disk?
If your machine only has SL and the Recovery HD, then the only thing you can do when booting into the latter is REINSTALL Lion on top of SL or do some basic things, but Lion isn't installed. Details in Recovery/ and About Lion Recovery.

what would happen if i had my ipod sync to a computer then i plugged it in to a different computer and sync it what would happen

The contenst of the iPod would be erased and replaced with what is in the itunes library of the computer.  You can manage music among different computers.  See:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers

  • What would cause the microphone in the iPhone 3Gs to stop working?

What would cause the microphone in the iphone 3Gs to stop working?

Basic troubleshooting steps are restart, reset, restore.  If these are tried and you still have problems then you have a hardware failure and will need to have your phone replaced by Apple.

  • What would happen if I were to delete all the files on my Mac Mini?

I was just wondering...Since i've owned my mac mini for a while now, overtime i've managed to have kept A LOT of files on my mac...
I don't want to delete individual files as that would take forever, but what would happen if I would delete every file and restart my mac? Just out of curiosity

    It would fail to restart.

  • I just backed up my mac to an external hard drive using Time Machine. What would happen if I turn Time Machine off and then plug the external hard drive back into my computer?

I just backed up my mac to an external hard drive using Time Machine. What would happen if I turn Time Machine off and then plug the external hard drive back into my computer?
What I am ultimately wanting to do is make more room on my computer by backing up all of my files onto the external hard drive and then deleting them off of my computer. However, neededing to be able to retrieve them from the external hard drive later down the road.
From what I have read and am trying to understand, is that I probably shouldn't have used time machine. I need to use the external hard drive like a basic flash drive where I can put things on and get things off without having it automatically update through time machine everytime I connect it to my computer.
Not tech savvy at all and barely understand basics. I need very simple and easy to understand explanations.

BIG BIG MISTAKE ..... youre making a linchpin deathtrap for your data trying to shove everything on a single fragile HD.
Dont suffer the tragedy other people make, buy another or 2 more HD, theyre cheap as dust.
The number of people who have experienced terror by having a single external HD backup is enormous.  One failure that WILL HAPPEN, and kaput,......all gone!
Dont do it, its all about redundancy, redundancy, redundancy.
    follow here:
Methodology to protect your data. Backups vs. Archives. Long-term data protection
Deleting them off your computer is fine....having only ONE copy is extremely BAD.
The Tragedy that will be, the tragedy that never should be
Always presume correctly that your data is priceless and takes a very long time to create and often is irreplaceable. Always presume accurately that hard drives are extremely cheap, and you have no excuse not to have multiple redundant copies of your data copied on hard drives and squirreled away several places, lockboxes, safes, fireboxes, offsite and otherwise.
Hard drives aren't prone to failure…hard drives are guaranteed to fail (the very same is true of SSD). Hard drives dont die when aged, hard drives die at any age, and peak in death when young and slowly increase in risk as they age.
Never practice at any time for any reason the false premise and unreal sense of security in thinking your data is safe on any single external hard drive. This is never the case and has proven to be the single most common horrible tragedy of data loss that exists.
Many 100s of millions of hours of lost work and data are lost each year due to this single common false security. This is an unnatural disaster that can avoid by making all data redundant and then redundant again. If you let a $60 additional redundant hard drive and 3 hours of copying stand between you and years of work, then you've made a fundamental mistake countless 1000s of people each year have come to regret.

  • What would happen if I were to delete the primary email address linked to my Apple ID?

I wish to completely de-activate my @hotmail email address in order to be left with just my @icloud email address becuase I would find life more managable that way.
I found out that I cannot change my primary @hotmail email address linked to my Apple ID with an @icloud email address as it is an active, separate Apple ID (in itself with a separate purchase / download history etc)...
Also I am aware that separate Apple ID's cannot be merged together...
My question is: "What would happen if I were to delete the primary email address linked to my Apple ID?"
Would I be able to keep and use my purchases, provided they are backed up on my Mac and authorised?
Would I be able to update those transferred purchases even though the email address linked to the apple ID in which the app was bought no longer exists?

You can change the primary e-mail address associated with your Apple ID, so long as it isn't a mac, me or icloud email.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621
Your Apple ID account, regardless of the primary email, can never be 'deleted', just abandoned.
You could always just switch between the two Apple IDs as needed, to access the different purchases.
